Loth-cats ran up to Ezra and the others the next day, which included, her sister, Ryder and Zeb as they had their armor and regular clothes back on as the twins used their helmet's macrobinocular viewplates to scout out an Imperial testing facility while Ryder and Zeb used electrobinoculars to do the same as they sat on their stomachs out in Lothal's wilderness.

"I see plenty of Interceptors, but there's nothing new," Sabine observed before pulling her macrobinocular viewplate back up, "Are you sure this is the place, Ryder?"

"My spies said this is where the test flight for the new TIE defender will be," Ryder confirmed.

"Well, we've been out here for hours, and all I've seen are these stinkin' loth-cats," Zeb told them.

"What can I say? They like me," Ezra told the Lasat as the loth-cats purred.

"I'm glad someone besides me and our family likes you, Ezra, but let's stay on mission," Sabine told her twin.

"Specter-2 to Specter-6," Hera suddenly said as she contacted Ezra on her helmet's comlink, "What's your status?"

"No sign of the ship. Yet," Ezra answered, "How's your recon going?"

"The Empire's been fortifying their anti-aircraft defenses, and there are some new fuel tanks near the factory," Hera replied as she, Kanan, and Chopper stood on top of Ezra's old tower as she had electrobinoculars on her eyes.

"They must be getting ready to start full-scale production," Kanan suggested.

"Maintain surveillance until nightfall, then return to base," Hera ordered Ezra into her comlink.

"Copy that. Specter-6 out," Ezra replied.

"My contacts tell me this new prototype is even tougher than the one you've already encountered," Ryder told Ezra and the others, "More powerful engines. Upgraded targeting computer."

"Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it," Zeb told Ryder.

"That's why we're here, Zeb," Ezra reminded the Lasat when the loth-cat on her back suddenly started growling and ran away from them, hissing as a TIE defender flew past them, causing Ezra and Sabine's helmets to fly off of their heads before they grabbed their helmets and placed them back on their heads as they flipped their macrobinocular viewplates back down as the TIE defender flew around the area before they flipped them back up.

"Do you see it now, Zeb?" Sabine asked the Lasat.

"Yeah, but I still don't believe it," Zeb answered as the TIE defender soon landed at the facility, "Do we have anything that can match that speed?"

"Uh, it would definitely give the Ghost a run for its money," Sabine answered as she flipped her helmet's macrobinocular viewplate down and saw a pilot that she recognized walk out of the TIE before flipping her macrobinocular viewplate back up, "I know that Skerris."

"Well, we got a good look. If we had your recorder running, we should have enough intel for rebel command," Ryder told them.

"Mission accomplished," Zeb said as he got up.

"Hmm, we can do better," Sabine stated.

"Sabine, we got what we came for," Ryder reminded Sabine as he and Ezra went to leave.

"Hey, if we're gonna beat that thing, we need more than some pretty pictures," Sabine told them as she removed her helmet.

"I don't like where this is headed," Zeb muttered.

"We need to get the flight data recorder," Sabine explained.

"Wait, from inside the ship?" Ezra asked her twin.

"Yep, I was right. I don't like it," Zeb said.

"The data would give rebel command a complete record of the ship's range, top speed, shield array, weapons payload, everything," Sabine went on, "We are not passing this up."

"How could we get physical information like that to the Rebellion?" Ryder asked her, "We have no starships left."

"A transmission can easily be blocked. If we had hard evidence, finding a way to get it to rebel command is what I call a good problem," Sabine added.

"She's right," Ezra said, agreeing with her sister, "We can do it. Ryder, you and Zeb stay here and keep watch." And with that, the twins hopped onto a slope-like structure and slid down the win the slope with the Loth-cats following them as the twins hid behind a rock-like structure near the facility and saw a probe droid fly by the gate of the facility before entering the facility as the twins followed by the Loth-cats approached the gate and went past the gate and hid behind an object near the gate and saw a stormtrooper walking past one of the anti-air guns before they rushed from their hiding place to a hiding place behind TIE fighters and hid behind the TIEs before hiding behind containers with the Empire's insignia on them as they saw two stormtroopers guarding the prototype TIE defender.

"Okay. Okay, okay, okay," Ezra muttered to the loth-cats that wanted her attention, "Not now."

"This is no good," Sabine told her sister as she turned to her, "We need a distraction"

"Got any ideas?" Ezra asked her.

"I'll come up with something," Sabine answered when one of the loth-cats meowed as they left the twins.

"Uh, looks like my little friends beat you to it, Sis," Ezra remarked as she saw the loth-cats run up to the stormtroopers.

"Great. More of those things," one of the stormtroopers muttered as one of the loth-cats meowed as they approached them.

"That's what we get for building a base out here in the middle of nowhere," the other stormtrooper told him.

"You think they can fly?" The stormtrooper that muttered about the loth-cats coming towards them asked.

"Kind of like to see if they could," the other stormtrooper answered before the stormtrooper next to him fired his blaster rifle at the loth-cat, causing the cat to jump up in the air before landing on its four legs, growling and snarled as it stared at the stormtrooper who tried to shoot him in anger, "No, can't fly." The loth-cat then charged at the stormtrooper and jumped at his face, causing him to fall to the ground with the other stormtrooper laughing.

"Hey!" The other stormtrooper yelled as the other loth-cat jumped at his face as well and went to pull the cat off his helmet, "Get off me!"

"Get them!" The stormtrooper that was on the ground ordered as he got up as both loth-cats ran from the stormtroopers with both Mandalorians watching.

"Huh. I like those cats more and more, " Sabine admitted before walking away from their hiding spot, "Keep watch."

Sabine then headed for the TIE defender and hopped into it's pod and leaned down and activated her helmet's comlink, "Okay, I found it. Just give me a few minutes to remove it from the panel."

"Can't you just copy the data, Sis?" Ezra asked on her helmet's comlink as she got underneath the TIE's dashboard panel.

"No, faster to take the whole thing," Sabine answered.

"Heads up, you two. We got a ship inbound from the south," Zeb said on both of the twins' helmets causing Ezra to look up as she saw an Imperial shuttle and saw as the shuttle landed nearby with Vult Skerris walking towards the shuttle as its ramp lowered.

"Ezra, what's happening?" Sabine asked from her sister's helmet's comlink as Ezra's eyes widened in shock as she saw Thrawn and Pryce walk out of the shuttle woth two death troopers behind them.

"Something terrible," Ezra answered as she turned around.

"Good afternoon, Commander," Thrawn said, greeting Skerris as he, Pryce and the death troopers walked off of the shuttle's ramp, "I'm eager to hear your opinion on the improvements made to the TIE defender program."

"Allow me to present the defender Elite for your inspection, Grand Admiral, and then I will provide you with a flight demonstration," Skerris told the Grand Admiral before he began to lead them to the TIE defender Elite prototype.

"They're headed for the fighter," Ryder observed from a cliff with Zeb with electrobinoculars on their eyes before Ryder removed them from his eyes, "Sabine's still in there."

"Get ready. Things are about to get interesting," Zeb remarked before they placed their electrobinoculars back over their eyes.

"Sabine, we have to go. Now," Ezra said, contacting her sister with her helmet's comlink as she hid from the Imperials.

"I've almost got it," Sabine said, answering her sister with her helmet's comlink as she looked up and saw Thrawn and the other imperials approaching through the pod's window, "Just stall them."

"Stall them? How?" Ezra asked with confusion with her helmet's comlink, "It's Thrawn!"

"I'm confident you'll think of something, Sis," Sabine replied on her helmet's comlink hole she looked on in the distance and saw something that no one has reported seeing in a century, a loth-wolf which stared at her and she gasped as she realized what the wolf was until she heard a blaster rifle cock behind her and turned around and saw a TIE fighter pilot aiming a blaster rifle at her, causing her to grab her lightsaber from her armor's belt and instantly ignited it only to fall on the ground and saw that the loth-wolf had vanished before she got up and began to deflect the TIE pilot's blaster bolts with her saber as Skerris and the others saw this with one of the death troopers cocking their blaster rifle as they got ready to shoot the Mandalorian.

"A Jedi? Here?" Skerris said with disbelief.

"That is no ordinary Jedi," Thrawn told him, "That is the Mandalorian Jedi, Ezra Wren, twin Sister to the Mandalorian artist Sabine Wren."

"Capture her!" Pryce ordered before the stormtroopers began to rush towards the Mandalorian.

"Secure the prototype," Thrawn ordered the death troopers before they rushed away to do that.

"I don't believe it. This thing has a navicomputer," Sabine muttered to herself before getting up from underneath the dashboard and saw what was happening outside and contacted Ezra, "Well, Sis, you certainly got their attention."

"I'm glad this is working for you!" Ezra exclaimed, sarcastically as Ryder and Zeb removed their electrobinoculars as they stood up.

"Ezra, Sabine, head for the end of the runway," Zeb said as she activated his comlink, "We'll blast our way down there to get to you."

"No, take the information you have, and report to base," Ezra protested, "We'll find our own way back."

As one of the stormtroopers fired at Ezra she hopped onto a loading dolly woth two containers on it as it rolled forward and took her WESTAR-35 blaster pistol out and began to fire it at the stormtrooper before jumping off f the dolly as it reached two other containers and landed behind the containers and ran through an alleyway-like structure and hid in a corner at the edge of it as a stormtrooper fired their blaster rifle at her.

"Ezra, I have the data recorder," Sabine said, contacting her sister with her helmet's comlink as she finished removing the data recorder from the TIE defender's panel below the dashboard before turning around to see that she was nowhere to be seen from the TIE's window, "Sis? Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. But I think I have a better one."

Stormtroopers came up in front of Ezra as she began to use her saber to deflect their blaster bolts before Force jumping onto one of the box shaped containers she was hiding behind and jumped onto the TIE pilot's head and soon landed on her side as she fell in front of containers with Thrawn, Pryce and Skerris noticing from a distance.

"Hey!" She called out to them.

"Fascinating," Thrawn muttered as the death troopers rushed towards the TIE defender prototype which began to take off as they reached the TIE defender as Sabine sat in the seat and began to fly away.

Ezra slashed her saber across the body of the TIE pilot as she slid across one box container as a stormtrooper behind her and across from her aimed their blaster rifles and began firing them at her as she deflected the blaster bolts with her saber after firing a few blaster bolts with her WESTAR-35 before sliding across a box container again as she hid behind the box.

"Sabine, now's your chance!" Ezra said into her helmet's comlink, "Get out of here!"

"Just stay down!" Sabine said on her helmet's comlink as the TIE she was piloting flew above the back of the container as stormtroopers aimed their blaster rifles at Ezra before turning around as they heard the TIE which began to fire upon them.

"Are you crazy, Sis?!" Ezra called out to her with disbelief.

"Don't just stand there! Jump!" Sabine urged her twin as she hovered the TIE above her and with that, Ezra jumped onto one of the containers before jumping onto one of the defender's solar panel wings with the Force and then did the same as she jumped into the TIE defender's pod as it's hatch was opened which sealed back shut as she entered the TIE's pod and sat in a seat behind her sister as the TIE destroyed every TIE Interceptor stationed at the training facility before swooping back around and began to fire upon Thrawn, Pryce and Skerris and Thrawn began to fire back at the TIE with his blaster pistol.

"Grand Admiral, take cover!" Skerris warned the Chiss, ducking down as the TIE flew over them, destroying the shuttle in the process before flying over the facility's control tower.

"Was this part of the demonstration?" Thrawn asked Skerris.

"They won't get far, sir," Skerris assured him, "It's Hyperdrive is offline."

"I will activate the ship's kill switch," Pryce offered.

"Not yet, Governor," Thrawn dismissed, "This is a perfect opportunity for a combat test. Skerris, send your pilots to intercept."

"Right away," Skerris replied before leaving as three of the remaining Interceptors took off from the ground.

"I told you it'd get interesting," Zeb told Ryder as they removed their electrobinoculars off their eyes again.

"We need to get back to base," Ryder stated as they stood back up.

"Hurry! They're getting away!" One of the stormtroopers that were chasing the loth-cats said as he and the other stormtrooper chased the loth-cats.

"I'm done with this," the other stormtrooper said as he panted as he got tired of chasing loth-cats before hearing a sound in the distance and turned to the stormtrooper next to him, "Hey. You hear something?"

"Yeah," he confirmed as they turned around, "What is that?" They were then forced to the ground by the wind as the TIE defender flew past them.

"I thought we were just gonna steal the data recorder," Ezra recalled to her sister as Sabine piloted the TIE defender as it flew across Lothal's wilderness.

"We are, but I'm also learning all kinds of things. Like, this TIE fighter has a navicomputer, which means it has a Hyperdrive, so, obviously, I had to take it," Sabine confirmed.

"Why?" Ezra asked her.

"Because… without this Hyperdrive, we have no way to get the data back to rebel command on Yavin, but with it, we can fly there right now," Sabine answered.

"This idea has gone from good to great," Ezra commented on her sister's plan

"Keep heading east until I can disable the transponder," Sabine Told Ezra as she got from her seat and Ezra sat in the seat, "Don't need the Empire tracking us back to rebel command." She removed her helmet as she began to get to work on disabling the TIE's transponder.

"Too late," Ezra announced as she saw fighters on the TIE's radar system, "Enemy fighters, .68." The TIE Interceptors began firing upon them, only for the TIE defender's shield to absorb the turbolasers as she said that, "Hang on!"

She swooped the TIE up into the atmosphere before swooping back down towards the TIE Interceptors and fired the turbolasers at them, destroying one of the Interceptors in the process.

"Sis, keep it steady!" Sabine ordered her sister as she went back to working on disabling the ship's transponder.

"I'm trying not to get shot down," Ezra reminded her and as she swooped the TIE defender down and flew across the plains near a mountain-like feature, she stopped the TIE to a halt as the Interceptors flew forward in front of them and locked onto one of them and fired the turbolaser at one of the Interceptors in front of them, destroying another Imperial fighter.

"I wonder who else is in that stolen fighter," Thrawn said as he, Pryce and Skerris stood in front of a holotable showing the TIEs that were in combat outside the facility as one of the images representing a TIE fighter disappeared with the two death troopers standing behind the Grand Admiral.

"They destroyed two of our Interceptors. It must be Hera Syndulla," Skerris surmised.

"Oh, I think not," Thawn said, dismissing what Skerris suggested, "If Captain Syndula were piloting the ship, our fighters would not have survived this long.

"You know, if you get the whole ship blown up, I won't have to deactivate the transponder!" Sabine said, snapping at her sister as Ezra flew the TIE as it chased the Interceptor through a mountainous range.

"Don't worry, Sis, I'll get him," Ezra assured her twin as Sabine went back to work on disabling the TIE's transponder as she began to fire the turbolasers with the Interceptor evading the turbolasers as both the TIE defender and Interceptor went into separate directions around a mountain-like structure and soon flew towards the Interceptor again as she activated the TIE defender's missiles and launched them at the Interceptor, which crashed to the ground after the missiles collided with the ship and exploded as Ezra flew the TIE away from the Interceptor.

"Almost… there!" Sabine cried as she finally disabled the TIE's transponder before it started beeping, "Oh, no." She got up as she cried out in horror, "No, no, no! Oh, no!"

"'Oh, no' what?" Ezra asked her, "I thought you got it."

"Ah, its transponder has been disabled in record time," Thrawn. Stated as the image of the TIE defender disappeared from the holotable and turned around as he realized who was with Ezra. "It's the other Mandalorian, Sabine Wren."

"Sis, land the ship. Now!" Sabine ordered.

"What's wrong?" Ezra asked in a confused tone.

"This ship has a kill switch," Sabine answered, "They used it at Skystrike, remember. They can disable the ship from a distance." As Sabine said this, Ezra began to fly the TIE downwards.

"If someone of Ezra Wren's modest skill can best three trained pilots, our new fighter will give us an overwhelming advantage against the rebels," Thrawn stated, "Governor, you may proceed."

"Activating theft countermeasure now," Pryce announced as she turned to the anti-air gun personnel, "Scramble gunships. Once they have fallen from the sky, locate and secure the crash site." She then began to press buttons on a panel next to her as she activated the kill switch.

"Sabine!" Ezra called out to her sister as one of the TIE defender's solar panel wings were ripped off of the pod as the TIE began to close in on a landing site in the wilderness.

"Got it!" Sabine announced as she stood back up as another of the solar panel wings were ripped off of the TIE's pod.

"Got what?" Ezra asked her as the final wing began to slowly get ripped off of the pod, "I've only got one wing left!"

"Better than no wings!" Sabine remarked as the TIE crash landed on the ground with the only wing that was attached to the ship on the ground and skidded across the ground before stopping at a mountain-like feature.

The twins soon fell out of the TIE defender's pod with their helmets falling down as they landed on their stomachs on the ground with Ezra holding the data recorder as they sat up.

"You okay, Sis?" Ezra asked Sabine before coughing a bit.

"Nice landing," Sabine grunted, sarcastically as she stood up.

"Well, I guess we can scratch stealing the TIE defender " Ezra stated as she stood up as well.

"Yeah," Sabine agreed as she picked up both of their helmets and handed Ezra her helmet who placed it to her side as Sabine as well, "But we're still taking the Hyperdrive."

"What?" Ezra said with confusion.

"The drive on Ryder's U-wing is shot, but I can use this one to replace it and you can help me replace it, teaching you mechanics, if you want," Sabine explained as she stared at the Hyperdrive in the back of the busted TIE defender.

"How are we going to carry it?" Ezra asked her sister, "but yes, I would like you to teach me mechanics."

"Any way we can," Sabine answered as she approached the busted TIE defender.

"All right, hurry," Ezra said as she placed her helmet over her head and went to approach the busted TIE defender.

"I should have expected them to do something crazy like that," Zeb said, transporting a speeder with Ryder onto the U-wing where Kanan and Chopper were in as Chopper grunted a response.

"It's okay, Zeb," Kanan reassured the Lasat as he climbed into the cockpit where Hera was sitting in the pilot seat of the ship, "This is on them."

"According to Imperial chatter, they crashed," Hera informed them.

"The Empire's gonna pour everything they have into the search, but we can't contact them without risking a signal trace," Ryder stated.

"It doesn't matter. We have to find them," Hera told him before activating the U-wing's engines and flew away from the area.

Both Ezra and Sabine grunted as they were carrying the Hyperdrive that they took from the TIE defender as Ezra held the data recorder to her side while Sabine had her helmet to her side before setting the Hyperdrive door an and panted as they collapsed to their knees as Ezra looked up and saw a white Loth-cat up on a cliff in the distance before meowing and ran from them.

"This way," Ezra said as they followed the white Loth-cat to a hollow wall, "Look. We can hide the Hyperdrive in there and come back for it later. We'll make better time without it."

"How did you know that was here, Sis?" Sabine asked Ezra.

"I followed the white loth-cat," Ezra answered.

"White loth-cat?" Sabine repeated with confusion, "Are you sure you didn't hit your head in the crash?"

"Just help me get it in there," Ezra said and soon they pushed the Hyperdrive into the hollow wall and moved a Boulder in front of the wall, hiding the Hyderdrive from sight.

"Hey, Sis, you coming?" Sabine asked Ezra as her sister heard a howl in the distance, who then followed her after picking the data recorder back up.

Soon Imperial patrol transports were flying over the area of the TIE defender's crash site with Pryce on one of them as a hologram of Thrawn appeared before her and she turned to him, "We've located the crash, Admiral, but there's no sign of the rebels. I'm initiating a search. They won't escape."

"Very good, Governor. Secure the site. Ground units are en route," Thrawn informed her.

"I'm picking up a lot of Imperial patrols on the scanner," Ryder said on the U-wing's comm system.

"It's okay. Ezra and Sabine have each other, they're twins after all," Kanan reassured Hera as she flew Ryder's U-wing, "They'll find their way home."

"I'll monitor the Empire's chatter and keep the engines warm, just in case," Hera stated.

Both Ezra and Sabine hid from searchlights from Imperial patrol transports as they swept the area for the twins as they hid behind a boulder.

"Did they see us?" Sabine asked Ezra.

"No, I don't think so," Ezra answered.

"We got to keep moving," Sabine stated when Ezra suddenly heard the howl again and turned around and saw the Loth-wolf again in the distance, "Ezra. Ezra! Hey, I said we need to keep moving, Sis! What is it?"

"I...I thought I saw something," she answered as she and Sabine removed their helmets from their heads, "I think it's a Loth-wolf. No one's seen them in 100 years, but I keep seeing one today."

"A Loth-wolf?" Sabine inquired, "Like from those old cave paintings?"

"Yeah…" Ezra confirmed as she trailed off as she saw the Loth-wolf standing behind her sister, "Sis!"

"Sleep…" the Loth-Wolf told Sabine, who then fell unconscious.

"Sabine!" Ezra cried as she caught her sister as she fell into her arms and looked up to the Loth-wolf, "What did you do to her?" The wolf started growling, causing her to move her hand towards her Mandalorian styled lightsaber till she saw the white Loth-cat appear the the top of the head of the Loth-wolf, reassuring the Mandalorian Jedi that the Loth-wolf was on her side, "I don't believe it. I thought I was just imagining things earlier."

The Loth-wolf turned its head towards the a imperial patrol transports that were flying in the distance and started growling at the transports as the Loth-cat started snarling at the transports as well.

"I'm glad you don't like the Empire either," Ezra stated, "They're looking for us." The Loth-wolf then walked up to her and picked her sister up by its mouth and Ezra kept her up as the Loth-Wolf let go of Ezra's sister, "Are you sure it's okay?" The Loth-wolf bent down as ERa placed her sister on the wolf's back as the Loth-cat at hopped off of the wolf's head as Ezra placed Sabine's helmet on the data recorder before placing both the data recorder and helmet in front of Sabine before climbing onto the wolf, which then began to take off and evaded the searchlights as the wolf ran past the Imperial patrol transports, "Thank you."

The wolf bent back down as they reached Ryder's camp the next morning and Ezra climbed off the wolf's back and pulled her sister off it's back with Sabine's helmet and data recorder and placed them on the ground next to her as she turned to the wolf.

"I don't understand. Why did you help us?" She asked the wolf as she removed her helmet and placed it to her side.

"Dume…" the Loth-wolf answered.

"Ezra!" Hera suddenly called as she and the others began running towards them as the wolf walked away, "Sabine!" She and the others soon approached the twins and sighed as she reached them as she immediately bent down towards Sabine, who slowly began to regain consciousness, "Thank goodness you're safe."

"How did you get back here so fast?" Zeb asked Ezra.

"Didn't you see the… Loth-wolf?" She asked them as she turned around only to see that the Loth-wolf had vanished, she then turned back around as her sister got up, "Sis?"

"I don't remember seeing anything, Sis," Sabine answered, "I just heard you say wolf."

"Is that the…" Hera began as she noticed the data recorder on the ground.

"Flight data recorder from the TIE defender Elite," Ezra finished as Sabine grabbed her helmet and placed it to her side, "All Sabine's idea."

"We got the Hyperdrive, too," Sabine added, "Stashed it in the rocks near the crash. I think it'll work in our U-wing."

"Then we can come and go off this rock," Zeb stated before he and the others except Kanan walked away, "Well done, you two."

"Kanan, there was a wolf. And there's something more to it," Ezra told her master, "What, I don't know."

"I believe you," he said as he placed his hand on her shoulder, "All paths are coming together now."

"What does that mean?" She asked him.

"I don't know," he admitted as he began to walk forward, "We'll have to find out when we get there."
