Dragon Ball: Governed
Chapter 53 - Planet Vegeta's Fate
In recent days, Planet Vegeta has virtually been a ghost planet. All the warriors of the planet were aware of what was to come, yet many people started to get cold feet. Still, if they were to turn away, King Vegeta would have their heads. Silence was a common theme on the planet for the time being. Even the most obnoxious, rambunctious Saiyans shut their mouths for once and let their brain do the work in the form of thinking.
The expectations that the King bestowed upon his people were high, albeit a lot of warriors didn't hold themselves to the needed standard high enough to see themselves being liberated from Freeza. An entire lot imagined themselves and their descendants remaining loyal to Freeza, handling his dirty work; wake up, leave home, fight, come home, rest, leave home, rinse and repeat.
King Vegeta had set the bar rather high - he knew he had to after his father. Some were happy, some were scared...and there were others that just didn't care, either way. As long as the nonchalant ones got to fight, they wouldn't complain.
On the landing site where non-combatant Saiyans of authorized personnel worked only, the warriors Taro, Selypa, Choy, Elery, and Nappa all stand side by side. None of them had uttered a single word; they simply waited.
Taro never expected to be in a group considered the top warriors of Planet Vegeta; given his strength at birth, he was destined to be nothing more than a low-class warrior that handled petty missions. In these rather unpredictable and scary times, though, he was appreciative of the fact that he had been given the chance to prove his worth. He rose above the rest. Now was the time for his tale to be that he battled against Freeza and lived to talk about it. This was his only focus. Such was the same for Choy and Elery, as they also felt that they weren't ever going to be promoted to Mid-class warriors. If it weren't for Taro believing in them and training them as he had been trained by his mother, Selypa, then they wouldn't ever grow to have the same optimistic mindset as Taro.
As for Nappa, his line of thinking differed compared to his younger peers. For decades, he had been fighting in the name of his king and Freeza. Nearing his seventies now, the bald-headed hulk of a man was entering the latter stage of his primed years. If he was going to have one great final showdown, then it had to be this. He didn't think he'd ever live long enough to see his people stand up to Freeza, but here he was. Though nervous, he was glad to be apart of this, no matter the end result.
It wasn't long until Bardock had exited the Saiyan palace and flew over to where his comrades waited for him. With their attention all on the scarred veteran, Bardock waits until he lands in close range to give an update. "Freeza will be arriving shortly."
Taro's heart skipped a beat. He tried his best to remain cool, though it was apparent his nerves were getting to him. Had this been any regular old assignment, his peers would more than likely berate him for being so cowardly, but this was Freeza - he was no regular assignment, much less person for that matter. Blowing up a planet would surely be easier than taking the tyrant down. "It's happening…" Taro muttered. "It's really happening." Taro was one of the Saiyans that never thought in a million years that something like this would transpire. Sure enough, subsequent to being promoted to mid-class status, he had heard talks of the King and from his other peers that Freeza would rue the day that he and his father maintained control over their people. While that may be so, Taro still never expected this particular day to be in his lifetime.
"It was bound to happen eventually," Nappa commented. In his later years in life, part of Nappa was glad that he would experience this himself as his aging body was still ripe for fighting.
During this little small talk, their scouters beeped. Everyone listened in on the message from King Vegeta, who told them that Freeza was close. Bardock got the message before ending the reception. He looked over to Choy, who just nodded as he got Bardock's signal.
Choy gets into contact with all the snipers stories high in the Saiyan palace via his scouter. "Have your weapons ready to fire; the moment you see any ship in your sights, you attack without hesitation."
"We need to head to lower ground," Bardock tells his group. "We let the snipers execute their role before we jump in to play our part." Everyone followed Bardock leading the way as the scarred Saiyan hopped off the landing site and made way down to the plethora of trees below, camouflaging themselves.
The closer they drew toward Planet Vegeta, the more intense Freeza's gaze became. Inside Freeza's main quarters of the ship as they entered the world's atmosphere, it is only him and Raditz. "The moment of truth is rearing its head out under the sun." Wagging his tail in circles, Freeza asks Raditz if he is ready.
For sparing his life and giving him the chance to rise up the ranks of the Freeza Force, Raditz felt indebted to Freeza. Anything the tyrant requested him to do, he felt obligated to do so; even if that meant waging war on his own people and aiding Freeza to dispose of his fellow Saiyans, then so be it. Raditz felt he would be just as dense as his own race if he betrayed Freeza now. Besides, he'd get to step forth and show Vegeta that he had the potential; getting kicked off King Vegeta's squad when they were children was a grave mistake.
"Of course. I am always ready."
As if on cue, Freeza's ship began to rattle. A barrage of laser rays penetrating against his ship caught Raditz and Freeza's attention as they braced themselves. They were cognizant of the fact that the snipers were attacking, though the impact coming from the shots was far superior than what they were anticipating. Sticking to the plan, Freeza and Raditz raised their hands to the same spot of the ceiling, blasting a hole right into it.
"Any idea where the snipers will be located?" Raditz inquired.
Freeza had a hunch; the day that his father passed down the torch was the same day that the Freeza Force introduced a new spectacle of technology for the Saiyans: scouters. With the utilization of those devices, Freeza was able to pinpoint the locations of snipers who had their weapons trained on him subsequent to his arrival. Recalling those exact spots, Freeza left the ship and leaped into action. Raditz was quick to follow his lead.
With all the commotion going on outside, King Vegeta can feel the entire palace shaking before any true fighting had started. He keeps his cool, understanding it'll take more than a few posts of snipers dozens of stories high to have the entire foundation toppling on him from above. Looking through the stained windows of the palace, he sees that all of it's just begun; Freeza's burning ship comes falling down into pieces as burnt corpses drop down on Planet Vegeta like a fiery rain. It brings a smile to his face.
Faint footsteps grow louder as an expected arrival approaches. Vegeta didn't bother in turning his eyes away from the sight to acknowledge his son. "Are you ready to finally take what is rightfully yours?"
Staring at his father's face across the throne room, Prince Vegeta doesn't respond. Repeating himself in a louder tone, the king turns to face his prince. The son of King Vegeta just smiles. This was the moment. Growing up, Prince Vegeta nor his father ever truly spent time together to have any moment for bonding. With the lack of attachment between he and his father, being able to commit patricide felt as if he was taking out a native on a foreign world.
"Of course, father." He raises his hand. "I am always ready." Before the king realizes what his son is up to, a full on blast from the prince sends him crashing into his throne chair. King Vegeta tries to make an effort in getting up, but a blast directly through the shoulder causes him to slump back down in what remained of his seat.
Vegeta growled. "W-What the hell is this...Explain yourself!"
"Death…" Prince Vegeta fires a death beam. Subsequent to the attack following through his father's chest, the king's eyes widen as he feels the sharp pain go through his entire being. Body twitching as his arm goes out, his eyes flutter before they close and his hand limply falls. Dead on his throne chair, Prince Vegeta sees that his father is taken out of the picture.
"Your power has made you far too overzealous. Thinking that you were capable of taking on more than what you could chew was your undoing."
Not as much as a subtle breath escaped the King's body as he looked in the eyes of his dead father for a good minute. Prince Vegeta proceeded to turn around in hopes that he would be able to join the battle, albeit there was one more obstacle. Seeing the expression of bewilderment, shock, and pure hatred mixed all into one on his uncle's face was a look that Prince Vegeta would not soon forget; Tarble was always something different than the others around him. He took it easier and wasn't as hostile or volatile - always willing to help. Very seldom did he see his uncle upset, much less mad.
But to bare witness to his older brother being put down like a dog?
Tarble was livid.
Prince Vegeta remained cool, though. No amount of anger could propel his uncle's strength to rival his own. Tarble was unable to say a single thing as his anger boiled.
"I did what had to be done," Vegeta told Tarble. "My allegiance stays with Lord Freeza and Lord Freeza alone; I can put in a good word for you if you'd like. After all, I don't think my dear cousin Ginger would take kindly to the fact that her father died here."
Grinding his teeth with clenched fists, Tarble's Saiyan tail lashed around as the fur on his appendage stood tall. Veins showed on his forehead much akin to his older brother whenever he was frustrated; Tarble was the spitting image of his brother when angered.
"You…" electric sparks began to surround him. "YOU WILL PAY!"
Prince Vegeta is rushed by his uncle. The impact of Tarble's punch has Prince Vegeta flying past his father's body and through the wall behind. Upon entering the King's quarters, Tarble kicks Prince Vegeta through the wall to his left, sending them both outside.
As they are hovering in the sky just yards away from one another, Tarble and Prince Vegeta are officially in the battle zone. Hundreds of dozens of Freeza's surviving soldiers have stepped foot on Planet Vegeta, battling it out with Saiyans on land.
"Anger is any Saiyan's greatest tool," Prince Vegeta commented. "Too bad it won't do you any good for me."
Tarble doesn't utter a word and blitzes his nephew once more. Unfortunately, he is intercepted as he is clocked in the jaw by the prince. Tarble crashes through the towers of the Saiyan palace as he continues to soar in the clouds of Planet Vegeta. After a few seconds of traveling away uncontrollably, Tarble flips around and gathers himself by screaming at the top of his lungs and lunging for Prince Vegeta yet again.
He ignored the aching feeling his face felt after that single punch; his vision was blurry and part of him didn't even want to fight his brother's son, but he had no choice. Prince Vegeta killed the king - he was a traitor. He needed to be dealt with as any traitor would.
With Tarble zooming in on him, Prince Vegeta just grins. The thought of just finishing Tarble right then and there was something he thought of entertaining. But he had another idea: to outright embarrass him. "Fine. I'll humor you."
Bardock and his crew all remained in camouflage by the trees on land of Planet Vegeta, observing as the others warriors fought.
"In a few minutes it would be a good time to take form under a few artificial moons, wouldn't it?" Nappa suggested, hoping that they could stick to the plan.
But something had caught Bardock's attention from the very moment Freeza arrived: Raditz. Once he saw that long-haired Saiyan hop out, fighting alongside Freeza, Bardock hadn't spoken a word ever since. Sure enough, earlier he told them that it would also be best to let Freeza and his goons wear themselves before they used the transformation, but it appeared that something was bothering him completely.
"Bardock!" Choy hissed. "Are we going to sit back and let our men get killed or are we going to do something!?"
All these years, thinking his son was dead...Bardock grieved in silence when he lost all contact with Raditz after his team had been slaughtered. But to find out he was working right with Freeza and against his own people? It lit a fire in the seasoned warrior.
"My son…" Bardock snarled through his teeth. "That bastard Freeza has Raditz working with him!" With his anger clouding his judgement, Bardock shoots off.
Choy and Taro were furious with Bardock for abandoning protocol. Nappa and Elery were disappointed. But Selypa? She wasn't surprised Bardock would have this reaction. After all, she knew deep down he had a soft spot for his family. To see Raditz siding with the enemy more than likely put his world upside down.
"We stay here," Selypa says. "Bardock will give us a signal when the time is right. For the meantime, we stick to the plan and don't intervene until he gives us the signal. Understood?"
"And who let you in charge?" Nappa questioned.
"Now's not the time for nonsense," Elery told Nappa. "Miss Selypa's right; we should wait."
Freeza and Raditz had a similar approach when it came to taking on the Saiyans. Some warriors were downright too terrified to even approach Freeza, which meant Raditz took on more of a bulk of fighters. The older Saiyans that recognized Raditz figured they'd have an easy time once they realized he was on the enemy's side, but by the time they could come to the knowledge that Raditz was much more powerful and skilled, their deaths had already been set in stone. Raditz had no trouble as he toyed with each and everyone of them before sending them to hell. Freeza, as he enjoyed his little moments of fun with monkeys, was far more merciless and made sure that the Saiyans could feel every inch of the physical anguish that the tyrant bestowed upon their hardened bodies. He was going to make sure their last thoughts were of him before crossing over to the other world.
Raditz hovers in the sky before a dozen men, caked in the blood of his enemies, smiling deviously. Nine of the dozen soldiers had their scouters broken and their armor in pieces, though they still fought. Three more had come to assist the others.
"Ten more of you could come and help," Raditz told them, "it truly makes no difference. YOU WILL ALL DIE HERE!"
But the vision of 12 soldiers before him turns into one flying right in the middle. The Saiyans behind the man voice how it's the colonel, one of the strongest warriors of the planet. Being of a younger generation, they weren't aware of who Raditz was, much less why he was attacking them.
Raditz scoffed with a smile. "Oh...it's you. Didn't expect you, a low-class warrior, to still be alive, father."
"It's colonel now, boy," Bardock growled. "Raditz! Explain to me why the hell you're apart of Freeza's squad! What the hell happened to you!?"
Raditz ignored the question. He couldn't get into this, especially now, with his father of all people. "In all honesty, I wish you were dead right now; would spare me the discomfort of having to kill you."
"OHOHOHOHOHOHO!" Freeza laughed from afar. With one Saiyan teen in his grasp, squeezing her skull as he applied pressure, Freeza spoke to Raditz. "My, you having to kill your father? I suppose Prince Vegeta isn't the only one committing patricide today, is he? Why, I ought to let you have all the fun, Raditz. I am getting quite...bored." Freeza crushed the young woman's skull and let her body drop dead.
Bardock clicks on his scouter. Raising his palm, he forms a bright white ball of light. "NOW!"
"Oh, no you don't!" Raditz fires an energy ball at Bardock's premature artificial moon, blowing it up in his face. Still, that didn't prevent Bardock's comrades from creating artificial moons of their own down below. As Raditz's eyes gaze at a handful of artificial moons coming from below, Bardock rushes through the smoke and elbows his son right in the face.
Raditz is forced back a few yards. Before he is able to retaliate, the lights all expand in great size. Not looking at the moon himself in order to prevent himself from transforming, Raditz looked over to his father, who just stared at him. The shaking and roars of growing, rampaging apes all over by Saiyan warriors capable of controlling themselves while under the rampaging influence started to increase dramatically.
Almost everyone had seized fighting right then and there. Even Prince Vegeta stopped to catch eye of what was going on, but Tarble continued to fight through his injuries and made sure his nephew kept his focus on him.
"Oh, my…" Freeza mumbled as dozens upon dozens of Oozarus roared in unison. His ear drums almost split in half at the sound of them howling in perfect synch.
"ATTACK FREEZA!" Bardock ordered.
The sensitive ears of the Oozaru Saiyans picked up on Bardock's voice and quickly understood what he wanted to be done. Some stepped forward, crushing opponents in the process as they charged energy attacks with their mouths and hands. Freeza looked all around him, seeing that giant apes even had him circled. Growling, Freeza started to grind at the teeth.
"Fine! Have it your way!"
But what Freeza didn't expect was for the Saiyans to be so fast. They all fired their attacks from perfect trajectory, allowing their enormous balls of ki combining and forming into a powerhouse prior to striking Freeza head on. The tyrant had no choice but to block it with his hands.
As Freeza struggles to hold the attack, barrages of ki attacks come for him. Freeza is pushed further and further down near the departure site as he is constantly attacked. Bardock disregards the tyrant and looks back to his son.
"You see what we're made up when we work together, Raditz. It's not too late to come back to us. Your mother is alive. Kakarot is alive. We can be a real family now. All we have to do is kill Freeza, get your mother, and Kakarot back home."
Raditz didn't speak. He didn't want to entertain the idea. Besides, how could his mother be brought back to life? As far as he was concerned, once someone was dead, they were dead forever. His only response was averting his eyes back to Freeza, who didn't seem to be struggling much anymore. His lips curled. "You ought to realize that it won't be so easy defeating Lord Freeza, father."
Freeza, with great might, manages to push the giant ball of ki back at a group of Oozarus, disintegrating their bodies in the process when all struck. Many Saiyans, including Bardock, were shocked to see that Freeza had taken an entirely new form.
Freeza may have grown, albeit not much. His armor was gone and his pale skin was out to see for everyone. He was in his original form - what he considered to be his final and least suppressed state. And even though he looked weak, the warriors were smart enough to realize that he was just as dangerous - if not, more.
Bardock's mouth stood agape at the sight. Freeza could transform? Did they just underestimate him to the highest degree? Just how much stronger was he now? For the first time in years, Bardock started to have cold sweats fall down his tanned face.
"Now," Raditz said, getting his father's attention. "You were saying? All that talk about defeating Freeza is null. Mother is gone. And Kakarot is gone!" Raditz pointed a finger at himself. "I happened to run into little brother a while ago. He told me of his operation of breaking down Freeza's empire; explaining to me it was him all those years ago that attacked Freeza's bases. He also fed me information on how you were the one to spare his life; very smart, sparing Kakarot and using his only other partner in crime as the scapegoat. Too bad all that was for nothing - Kakarot's dead. And now...it's your turn."
Out of pure anger, Bardock rushes for Raditz. Dodging all of Bardock's punches effortlessly, Raditz continued to mock him in the form of laughter, explaining how once this is over with, they will head to Planet Tech Tech and do away with all the weaklings there as well.
Raditz maneuvers behind Bardock and sends his father crashing with a bone-crushing blow atop the head. Bardock maintains the strength to not lose balance and crash on his feet. Blood pours down his head and into his left eye, though he ignores it. Feeling a certain pressure approach him from above, Bardock hops away, circling around trees on the land as Raditz follows him. Hopping from one branch and swinging onto another, Bardock lets Raditz fly ahead of him and fires an energy attack from behind. Raditz swatted it away prior to rendering a right hook to Bardock's cheek. The scarred Saiyan's head crashed into the trunk of a thick tree subsequent to sliding on the land.
Bardock knew his son was primed to becoming one of the top combatants once he heard that he was partnered up with Vegeta all those years ago as a kid; though a low-class warrior, Raditz had high-potential - high enough potential to not be sent away as an infiltration baby. He was kept home, trained, and then initiated as a warrior. Despite all that, he never expected Raditz to be so strong...to pretty much have the fight over with two simple strikes. Bardock wouldn't even manage to get up without falling back down on his face - his vision was just awful.
"This isn't a battle worth dragging out." Purple sparks of electricity crackle in the palm of Raditz's left hand. "I'm ending this here and now, father. Tell Kakarot I said hello."
Like any villain that often spoke too much before delivering the final blow, Raditz wasn't able to go through with the kill as someone else had caught his attention. One of Bardock's comrades, Taro, was flying toward Raditz in his ape form at full speed. Still, he had a charged attack ready. The closer Taro got, the more confident Raditz grew. The Saiyan looked down at Bardock and smiled prior to swiftly turning around and firing his attack.
But it doesn't strike Taro.
The terrifying screams and roars coming from Selypa as she was being electrocuted from Raditz's attack made the minds of Bardock and Taro go blank. Raditz laughed like a maniac as he saw smoke come from Selypa's furry body. it wasn't long before the fur on the ape's figure started to burn. Before they knew it, her entire body was lit up. Taro took steps back as he witnessed his mother howling in pain and mercy as she was being burned alive.
"NO…!" Raditz's father made an attempt to get up as he struggled. Bardock screams no once more, but Raditz doesn't listen. The long-hair Saiyan takes it upon himself to charge an even more powerful attack and do away with Selypa, who's turned into ashes. Taro is so utterly shocked at seeing Selypa being killed before his eyes, that he doesn't realize that he's next. Despite being much bigger than Raditz due to her size as an ape, Raditz manages to maneuver behind Taro and engulf his entire forearm into ki. With one single swipe, Taro's head came rolling off his shoulders and crashing onto the ground, causing trees to fall over in the process.
Bardock charges a blue wave of energy and fires all that he has left right for Raditz. The eldest son of Bardock slowly turns around and watches his father's attack come closer. Sticking his hand out, Raditz didn't bother in retaliating with a ki attack of his own until he felt his father's signature blast touch the palm of his hand. Bardock struggled and growled, putting as much effort as he could. Raditz just smirked.
"DIE!"
Bardock braced himself. He took Raditz's attack head on. As his skin burned and everything in his brain told him to just let go and die, Bardock didn't dare fall. The Saiyan backed up with his body engulfed by Raditz's attack. Trees around him vaporized into absolutely nothing, but Bardock wouldn't dare let himself have the same fate. Having survived the blast, he was bloodied, bruised, and virtually nude... but he wasn't dead.
Huffing and puffing with blood dripping on the grass, Raditz descended down to come face to face with his father.
"You really are something, old man," Raditz commended. "You take all that and you don't stay down." The elder Saiyan's ears were ringing, but he could faintly hear the verbal taunts that his son dished out. While alive, Bardock was far too weak to lift his head and look Raditz in the eye. It appeared that at any moment he would just collapse. "That at least explains why I survived all that I did...and why Kakarot, despite being a Super Saiyan...died like the pitiful fool he was."
Bardock let out a war-cry while he cocked his arm back with the very little strength he had left. Raditz grabs Bardock's fist and crushes it to elicit a pained howl that Raditz appeared to sadistically get off on. The elder Saiyan is forced to his knees as he bites his tongue to not give his son the satisfaction of seeing him in pain. Raditz takes off into the air in the battle zone once more, where Freeza can be seen toying with the apes around him as other Saiyan warriors fight.
As Raditz flies through the skies holding his father by hand, he casually speaks to his father. "Mother told me stories of how you often saved your comrades in battle. You have a compassion that most Saiyans do not, father. So of course, it'd make sense to me that you wouldn't bring yourself to kill me...even if you had the strength." Touching down a top of the Saiyan palace (what remained of it), Raditz let go of Bardock's hand and grabbed him by the forearm. The scarred warrior leaned backward. One slip and he'd fall. "But I have the strength to do what it takes." Raditz coldly looked into his father's pained eyes when he blasted him through the stomach. Subsequent to letting him go, Bardock is kicked off the edge and left to fall down.
From afar, Nappa, Choy, and Elery all zoom in on Raditz from afar. "HEH!" Raditz hops into action, dancing with three apes. It was most definitely the most fun he had in a while.
After just minutes of fighting for what felt like an eternity, Vegeta and Tarble kept on exchanging blows with one another. Tarble noted that his nephew was just toying with him as he hadn't even broken a sweat at this point, but he hoped to catch him off guard at some point in time.
Losing themselves in the moment, Vegeta and Tarble had forgotten the war waging on around them. Seeing that it was inevitable for Tarble to just drain himself at this point, Vegeta decided it was best to end it. Catching Tarble's fist, the brother of King Vegeta is kicked upward in the chin. Rushing in on his uncle as he's turned upside down due to the recent attack, Prince Vegeta manages to karate chop Tarble with enough force to the side that he turns around mid-air. Tarble, while upside down, is barely able to remain conscious. He knew he was moments away from death.
Sticking his hand in front of Tarble's face, Vegeta spoke. "My father was right about one thing: you truly never had the heart. And it showed today."
Tarble was propelled away from Vegeta due to being struck at point blank range with a wave of ki. Tarble screamed out as the wave of ki ate at his body armor and his skin. With what very little strength he had left, the brother of the king managed to free himself of the attack's hold and let his body fall. Unfortunately, Prince Vegeta saw this from a mile away. Blizting his uncle yet again, Tarble is rendered him one final blow: a double axe handle to the chin, exacerbating the damage of Tarble's inevitable crash landing.
Freeza is hundreds of feet in the air, dancing circles around the countless apes rushing in for him. From time to time he had been smacked around, but they all felt more like insignificant flies than anything else. Regardless, they were a nuisance.
Moving out of the way, Freeza watches as two beasts come crashing into one another. Going behind one, he grabs their tail and starts spinning him around, striking the other Saiyan in the process. After letting go, he blasts the Oozaru to death with thin beams of energy, poking holes in his body.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Freeza laughed. "How many more of you overgrown monkeys must I put down before you realize your place!?"
"ALL OF US!" An incoming ape cried from afar.
Freeza turned around to react. By the time he did, the ape that responded to him was already falling down below amongst a heap of trees. Initially, Freeza believed the person to intercept the beast to be Raditz, who had finished his fun with the three apes, but three other forgotten faces showed themselves.
Their arrivals brought a smile to Freeza's face.
It was Broly who had taken the ape down single handedly.
"My, my...you three must be the new recruits from Prince Vegeta. Why take so long to join the fight?"
"An experienced Saiyan colonel always scopes out what's going on before his eyes before he himself jumps into the fray. We've been watching from the very beginning."
"And now that everyone's showed their hands, we've decided to jump in," Zima added.
"Zima...Broly…" Paragus directed his hand to the dozens of great apes approaching them from below. "Attack!"
Zima and Broly took off without hesitation. The former of the two had a wicked smile across his face as the latter was only about business.
"Oh...you forgot to order them one thing," Freeza told Paragus. Curious, the grey-haired Saiyan listened. "I want them to make these weaklings suffer."
Tarble and Bardock lie just a few yards away from one another. Both visions are blurred as they remained soaked in their own blood - Bardock lying in a puddle as the brother of the now dead King with drops surrounding him. Tarble watches as Bardock coughs up blood with his skin going pale.
"You…" Tarble blinked. "You fought well, Colonel…"
Bardock couldn't do anything but wheeze. Yes, he did fight well...for a weakling. As a Saiyan warrior, Bardock knew it would boil down to this. He heard the phrase 'live by the sword, die by the sword.' All his life, Bardock had made his living through battle. He survived because of his ability to fight. He made money because of his capabilities as a warrior. He met the woman he loved and conceived two children because he was a soldier. And now, he was going to die with the same purpose he was born to: on the battle-field.
As the two Saiyans prepare to drift off to the other world, divine intervention made sure to make a rather opportunistic arrival. Shin, Kibito, and son of Kakarot; Gohan, all make an appearance before the two fallen Saiyans, somewhat far away from the current battle at hand.
Their arrival wakes Tarble up, but doesn't do much for Bardock, who's eyes start to flutter. Tarble so badly wants to ask who the hell are they, but isn't able to. By looking at the apparel of all three, he could tell none of them were from Planet Vegeta, but the tail coming from one of them is a clear indication that he is a Saiyan. The only thing on his mind was if they were friend or foe. If they happened to be the latter, then so be it - he was going to die anyway. And if they were friend, well...he could only say best of luck to them.
"Kibito, heal this one, I'll take care of the other."
Gohan was on his father's home-world, Planet Vegeta. Not once had he ever stepped foot there. He had dreams of what the planet could be like when he was a little boy; given how his father told him he came from a warrior race, Gohan always imagined a rather dark and gloomy world...but the planet was beautiful - even more than Earth's. Asides Planet Vegeta's natural beauty, what truly caught his eye was the man Bardock...who lied dying. The color in his skin gradually came back the more Shin healed him.
Once Bardock turned his face around, Gohan noted how he couldn't be his father. He had a scar, looked older...his hair was greying. But he looked just like him!
With the two healed enough to where they could understand everything, Shin told them the situation. "I am Shin and with me are Gohan and Kibito, my helpers. The current battle here is potentially far worse than you think...those two Saiyans, Vegeta and Broly...their powers are beyond anyone's comprehension. We're here to help with the Universal threat."
"Why do you have a Saiyan with you?" Tarble asked once brought to health. That question was instantly put to the background once he felt an entirely dramatic increase in energy surging from inside. Looking himself up and down, Tarble clenched his fist. The power within him was bubbling, as if he had a lot more ready to be unleashed. "And what did you do?"
"We don't have much time for talking…" Bardock mumbled. Shin kept his hand pressed against his back as the Saiyan stood up on his feet.
"Bardock," Tarble started, "there's something you must know."
The name immediately struck Gohan, as it did Kibito and Shin. This man was his grandfather! As much as Gohan wanted to put that out on the table, there were other matters that needed to be explored at the moment.
"What?" Bardock asked.
"Prince Vegeta is in on it," Tarble explained to the colonel. "I saw him kill my brother right in front of me. I don't know if you saw or not, but I've been fighting him the whole time and well...you can see how that turned out."
Bardock growled. "Tch! One Saiyan commits patricide and my own son tries to kill me, too!" Bardock punches a tree down on the side of him. "Ridiculous!"
"Kakarot is in on this, too?" Gohan inquired.
"No, that's my other son, who Raditz, my eldest...killed" Bardock tells Gohan. "How do you know Kakarot?"
"Kakarot is my father," Gohan informed. "My grandmother...erh, Gine, is back on my homeworld on Earth. She is safe and sound there. Once this is all over, I promise that I will bring you to her."
Through all the pain and treachery that came to slap him in the face, Bardock still managed to form a smile. "At least I got some good news through all this madness. If you're anything like your old man, then you should be capable of hanging in there, too." Bardock, feeling stronger than ever, leaped back into action. "LET'S GO!" He knew well enough he was going off to face death for a second time, but Bardock didn't care. He was doing this for a reason. He had to fight to win. He had to win to survive. Most importantly, he had to survive if he wanted to explore true happiness...with Gine.
Raditz is seen to be having a bit more trouble than he expected with Choy, Elery, and Nappa all teaming on him. Much stronger than the trio of them, the Saiyans all used coordinated and planned attacks as they fought against Raditz. Many times they had fought alongside one another and because of growing experience fighting on the same team, their synchronization was rather impeccable.
Ducking under a swipe from Nappa, Raditz blasted him right in the eye prior to flying in circles. By dodging blasts from Elery, which hit other Freeza soldiers and fellow Saiyans, Raditz turned around, only to be grabbed by the leg by Choy. Raditz hissed as he was being slammed down. He landed on his feet and caught the foot of Elery that came after to crush him. Subsequent to tossing her up, Raditz hopped with all his might and kneed Choy with enough force to knock the great ape down on his back.
Nappa, who still held his eye, let out a ferocious growl. "YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT, RADITZ!"
Raditz laughed. "The only thing I'm paying you is a ticket to hell, Nappa!"
Before Raditz could make a move, Bardock lands right in front of him, face full of vengeance. Raditz, unable to form words, expressed nonverbally that it couldn't be possible for his father to survive such a blow. Bardock's chest-plate was gone. His pants were ripped, showing most of his legs. Yet, his body didn't appear to have a bruise, much less scar, asides from the iconic one on his cheek.
"Raditz…from the day you were born, I knew you would be a good fighter. Compared to Kakarot, I always believed you were more promising in not only strength, but also dignity." Getting into a fighting stance, Bardock let out a brief yell. Raditz's scouter beeped like crazy as the numbers went up. His eyes widened in shock. He didn't know how, but thanks to his father surviving, he was much...much...MUCH stronger than before. "I guess I was wrong."
"I'm going to kill you!" Raditz yelled.
Bardock grabs Raditz's fist as well as the other. The two got in one another's face and growl like lions fighting over territory. The intense looks on their faces showed just how alike the two were as father and son. Bardock could see the frustration in his son's eyes. There were many people spread across the Universe that hated Bardock, solely because he robbed them of their livelihood and loved ones. But this? This was different. His own son was angry at the fact that he wasn't successful in killing him the first time...just like he supposedly was in killing Kakarot.
The thought of one of his children killing the other angered Bardock much more than it did Raditz. As the two struggled, Raditz find it increasingly harder and harder to get away from his father's grip. The scarred warrior envisioned how Gine would react upon finding out about Raditz's fate - she'd be heartbroken. He hated to see Gine upset...but most of all...he hated this.
He never thought he would. But he hated his own son.
Bardock's hair started to rise as a circle of wind surrounded them both. Raditz looked around in shock at the sight of Bardock's growing power. His scouter sparked electric sparks prior to busting right in his face. With the unleash of one, loud, sorrowful, and primal yell...Bardock's power grabbed everyone's attention.
His golden hair stood upright and his narrowed eyes took a new color. There was nothing but blood-lust in his expression. He didn't see his son Raditz anymore. He just saw another enemy destined to die by his own hand.
"No...No...No…"
Bardock rams his head into Raditz's nose, breaking it on impact. Bardock's fist comes caked in more blood when it comes into contact with Raditz's lip, sending him off his feet. Raditz was grabbed by the leg before he got far and was proceeded to be slammed face first into the ground before let go and kicked across the land.
But he didn't stop there. Raditz continued to receive the worst ass whooping of his life.
"What..what is that?"
Paragus and Freeza examined this odd spectacle from afar. Neither of them had witnessed such a transformation from a Saiyan before. The golden light lit up the entirety of Freeza's pupils. Stuck with his mouth wide open, his finger tapped the corner of his lip a multitude of times.
"So...that's it…"
"What is?" Paragus asked. Just a moment ago, Freeza's guess was just as good as his, so for this sudden transformation to click in Freeza's head really had Paragus' attention. The possibility of it being a Super Saiyan didn't pass through his mind once.
"That's the Legendary Super Saiyan…" Freeza concluded. Paragus blinked constantly and looked on in disbelief. No way it could be. From what he knew, this was a myth and a myth only.
After taking care of a couple of Saiyans with ease, Prince Vegeta turns around to see Bardock beating on his mentor, Raditz. Indifferent to the punishment that Raditz was receiving, Prince Vegeta was rather curious as to this sudden transformation. As he looked on, he stuck his hand out, grabbing a brutish looking Saiyan by the neck.
"V-Vegeta...w-why…"
"Why not?"
Vegeta crushed his throat and let the body drop.
Unfortunately for Vegeta, he wouldn't have time to play with the Super Saiyan; Tarble, Gohan, Kibito, and Shin all touch down to come face to face with him.
"Still alive, are you? Or am I just talking with your ghost right now?" Vegeta briefly glanced at these new guests, but didn't think anything of it. In his eyes, whoever got in his way would meet the same fate as the man he killed just moments ago.
"Now!" Tarble shouts.
With Kibito sending a barrage of chi attacks his way at such close range, Vegeta is left with no other choice but to block them all head on. Through the smoke and debris kicked up thanks to Kibito, Tarble comes for Vegeta head on, uppercutting him with all his might. Gohan is quick to appear behind Vegeta and ram him atop the head as well, keeping him on his feet.
Crouched down with Gohan and Tarble incessantly attacking him, Vegeta doesn't even find it within himself to block or dodge. He takes all their strikes head on, laughing even. With blood leaking from the corner of his lip to his chin, he blows them away with a simple shout, shaking the entire planet as he let out just a sampling burst of raw energy.
Kibito, Gohan, Shin, and Tarble were blown away hard with punches from Vegeta that travelled through the air and struck each of them in the form of wind attacks. Subsequent to all of them regaining their balance, Vegeta stands confidently, beckoning them to attack.
"Things have certainly taken a drastic turn…" Initially things looked good. On one side, Broly and Zima managed to make quick work of most the Oozarus, now making their way to Nappa, Choy, and Elery, who surprisingly managed to take a lot of blows. Still, it was a matter of time before the trio fell like the others. Yet, on the other spectrum, Raditz was being manhandled by a Super Saiyan, the very same legend that he and Kureeza claimed to defeat a while ago. That didn't appear to be the case from what he gathered now. "Still, I've no doubt that we will come out victorious. With Vegeta and your son on my side, things will smoothen themselves out."
With all the fighting around them, the trees of Planet Vegeta shook. Windows cracked in the distance. Water splashed to areas that streams, ponds, and river banks aren't even remotely close by. The multitude of heavy fights going on all at once was simply nearly too much pressure for Planet Vegeta to withstand.
"It is true that things will go smoothly…" Paragus starts to glide away from Freeza. "Just not for you."
"I beg your pardon!?"
"BROLY!" Paragus' voice echoed. "IT IS TIME WE DO WHAT WE HAVE COME TO DO, SON! KILL FREEZA AND VEGETA!"
Broly immediately stopped fighting the moment his name was called, leaving Zima to all the action with Nappa, Elery, and Choy. He took a glance at Vegeta, seeing he was occupied with four fighters. But looking to Freeza, he was all alone.
He made his first target.
As Broly flew toward Freeza, the tyrant clenched his fists. He made an attempt to power up, but Broly didn't give him the time to do so.
Freeza was knocked back for what seemed like was going to be one hundred miles. Broly was fast enough to maneuver behind him and send the tyrant crashing by driving both fists atop his head. Freeza let out a pained howl as he was soaring down below. Freeza landed on his feet, but was driven further into the ground by Broly's fist. The merciless Saiyan continuously pounded on on the galactic tyrant, knocking a great mix of saliva and blood as he brutalized him.
Freeza was in pain, sure...but his anger was starting to override that. Screaming at the top of his lungs, Freeza managed to blow Broly away and send a plethora of trees falling on top of him. As he continued to scream, Freeza's body involuntarily rose to the heavens of Planet Vegeta. Broly quickly came up from under, only to spot a bright purple color enlighten the entire planet.
Freeza had transformed once more. Sure enough, with the knowledge of Super Saiyans and them planning a revolt against him, Freeza felt that it'd be best to train from time to time; so who better to train with than his son? As he taught Kureeza how to suppress his power, Freeza also learned a way to take his power to new heights.
"Now…" Freeza stuck his hand out. "you get to die by the hands of Purple Freeza…"
Broly just growled. Rocketing for Freeza, the tyrant got out of the way, grabbed Broly by his forearm, and kneed the Saiyan in the stomach prior to elbowing him in the back. Broly crashed on all fours, hissing at the teeth. He shot for Freeza once more, unleashing a fury of combos. Freeza laughed in his face as he dodged them all as their aerial assault continued throughout all of Planet Vegeta. This only angered Broly, who was kicked back and blown away with a wave of ki. Freeza reappeared behind Broly and punted him upward prior to zooming in front of him, and sending him crashing back down with a full on wave of ki.
"No…" Paragus mumbled under his breath. "He can't lose...come on, Broly!" Paragus knew how big of a risk it was to have his son face off against Freeza. He thought of countless possibilities of avoiding Freeza, but when it came to thinking pragmatically, he didn't see any other way; his main motivation was to erase the Vegeta bloodline, but by killing Prince Vegeta, he would have to confront Freeza as well. After all, the tyrant took an extreme liking to the loyal prince. There was simply no other way. Broly had to come out of this alive and victorious.
Freeza looks down, grinding his teeth. "After I allow Prince Vegeta to take you in so that you could be a service to the Freeza Force…you betray me!?"
Broly, on the ground, starts huffing and puffing. His body is shaking. His head is hurting. He can't fail his father, he can't.
Paragus, realizing what's going on, contemplates on if he should use the remote or not. "Oh, no, not now, son...Keep your cool." This was the last thing Paragus wanted to happen, for Broly to lose his mind. Sure enough, he could zap his son back into his control, but still...they needed to defeat Freeza somehow.
"Broken already!? Ohohohoho! Now do you see, monkey? I am the winning side!" He stuck his hand out for Paragus. "And you chose wrong to betray me…"
"NOT ON MY WATCH!" Zima shot for Freeza, kicking him square in the face. Freeza didn't do as much as budge. Zima was grabbed by the ankle, which was crushed as soon as Freeza had his hands wrapped around it. Zima's cries of pain reached Broly's ears and caused his head to jerk up, witnessing his friend being harmed.
"ZIMA!" Broly yelled.
Broly's muscles expanded as he let out a roar so ferocious that it sent chills up the Oozaru's spines. His eyes changed color and his hair spiked to a certain degree as his height and muscle mas continued to increase. He wasn't turning into a Super Saiyan...but something else entirely. A green aura surrounded the hulk of a Saiyan. All of the trees in the vicinity fell over and snapped in countless pieces at his sheer power. The foundation of the departure site and palace crumbled, causing everyone to take their fight to the air.
Zima laughed through his pain. "Y-you...you know you done fucked up now, right?"
Freeza tossed Zima to the ground and gave Broly his undivided attention. "Come on, then! Show me what you're made of, Saiyan!"
Broly rushed in for Freeza at a much faster speed than the tyrant expected. He blocked a punch, but the second one that came from the abdomen wasn't expected. Being sent soaring through the sky, Broly continued his onslaught, grabbing Freeza by the face and dragging him down along the ground prior to tossing him up and blasting him away.
Freeza managed to escape from the ball of ki, but not Broly. Paragus' one and only son blitzed Freeza once more, punching all over him as if Freeza's sole existence was intentionally made for him to be beat on by the Saiyan.
In the distance, Prince Vegeta carried on his fight with his four opponents. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed how Freeza appeared to be in trouble. The Saiyan prince side-stepped Kibito and laid him out with a solid knee to the stomach prior to spinning around and grabbing Shin by the throat before slamming the kai into his back. Gohan swiped a punch and leaned back to avoid an elbow, but Vegeta's perfect execution of a spinning kick to the gut was enough to send the son of Kakarot crashing onto the ground with the wind knocked out of him.
With his focus entirely on Broly, Prince Vegeta shot over there.
Before Gohan fell, Shin gathered his bearings together and caught Gohan before he crashed.
"You okay, Gohan?"
Gohan scoffed. "Heh. Even the old supreme kai's training wasn't enough...that guy is something else." After being put back on his feet, he watched as Prince Vegeta headed off for Broly. "I imagine this isn't going to be good...those are the two guys you talked about, right?"
"This is literally the worst case scenario," Shin told Gohan. "If those two clash and bring out their latent powers, we may have to resort to fusion."
Gohan growled. He didn't know how he felt about the idea of coming together with anybody.
After being sent crashing by Broly once more, the Saiyan prepares to end him with a hefty ball of energy. His concentration was so much on Freeza, that he hadn't realized Vegeta was coming from him. The Saiyan prince kicked the ball of ki away in mid-air before it could strike Freeza. Facing Broly, he demanded answers.
"Just what in the hell do you think you're doing!?"
"Doing what his father ordered him to do!" Paragus yelled. "Kill him, Broly!"
Broly glided away as he held his aching head. Though on the verge of losing himself, he was still able to recognize the prince. Vegeta didn't look too happy, though, nor did he care that Broly was enduring some mental struggle.
Knowing someone such as Broly was capable of beating on Freeza, Vegeta knew he had to take this one seriously. A blue, fiery aura surrounded him as he powered up to his maximum strength. Broly removed his hand away from his head and over to Vegeta. The yelling Saiyan appeared as if he wanted to battle.
Broly growled. It was a fight he wanted. The exiled Saiyan's instincts was more than welcome to provide that for the prince.
Broly's green, fiery aura burst as well with the two Saiyans yelling at the top of their lungs; their everflowing ki having everything crumble around them.
With the intense pressure taking over the atmosphere, everyone else stops their battle, including Freeza's men. The tyrant himself remains stuck to the ground, barely able to gain his bearings. Between the extreme draining of his untrained transformation and the extreme beating of Broly, Freeza didn't have much strength for anything at the moment.
Raditz had been beaten into a state of where he was damn near unrecognizable. Bardock had just about took out all his anger and frustration on Raditz, who lied down in a pool of blood, barely able to breathe.
Powering down back to his base form, Bardock took a deep breath. The Saiyan remembered every brutal action he took in battle against his son, but who was he to care at this point? Raditz had chosen his side. And though he wasn't going to kill him outright, Bardock would merely let Raditz wallow in his own misery before passing out due to the damages done to him.
Instead, he decides to pay attention to the fight at hand. Raditz was broken and handicapped. He had nothing to worry from him anymore.
Vegeta is kicking Broly all around Planet Vegeta. One strike, Broly is sent flying, Broly stops, and Vegeta does it again. Having enough, Broly explodes, full of rage. Vegeta fights through the pressure of Broly's chi, punching him right in the face. Broly's face budges, albeit barely. His primal anger drives him to grab Vegeta by the face and smash him beneath Planet Vegeta's ground, all through the gravel and into lava geysers.
Vegeta gets away from Broly's grasp while underground and uppercuts the Saiyan prior to elbowing him in the face and rendering a barrage of punches to the chest before finishing his speedy assault with a kick to the chin. Broly just grabs Vegeta's leg and tosses him up through the ground before ramming his shoulder into the prince's chest.
With Broly zooming through the sky and holding onto Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince can feel himself getting angry. "You…" he grinded his teeth. "I took you in! I allowed you to take vengeance! I WAS EVEN WILLING TO LET YOU LIVE!" Vegeta's pupil's went yellow. "YOU DIEEEE!" he roared.
With Vegeta's teeth driving through his shoulder, Broly yanked the prince off and kicked him away. Vegeta swatted the ki attacks coming for him and rammed his forehead into the Saiyan's nose after flying at him head on. Broly came back with a headbutt of his own. With the two Saiyan's ramming heads, their blood leaked down from the head, to their lips, and down their chin. Grabbing each other's hands, the two generated a barrier of chi.
The bigger their barriers grew, the more that both cracked on each side. Vegeta exploded, breaking through Broly's defenses and elbowed him in the face. Broly tried to grab for him, but Vegeta was too quick. A brutal haymaker sent Broly soaring for hundreds of miles per second.
Vegeta zips behind the older Saiyan, ramming both tips of his boots into Broly's chest. The older Saiyan crashes down below into a body of water. The son of King Vegeta forms two balls of chi twice the size of his body and combines them prior to tossing it down at Broly below. The enraged Saiyan submerged in the water does the same and their two energy attacks collide.
Dark clouds form in Planet Vegeta's skies. Thunder and lightning start to constantly take place all over. And finally, the heavy rain begins.
Feeling the heavy rain falling onto his body, Freeza slowly starts to get up. No longer in his transformed state, Freeza is still able to fight now that he's gotten at least a bit of rest. Most of all, his anger at how plans were unfolding started to truly aggravate him.
"Chance after chance...I've given these insolent simian beasts…" Freeza's eyes pierce the back of Paragus, who just watches on as everyone else does. "NO MORE!" Rocketing into the sky, Freeza gets the attention of Shin, Tarble, Gohan, Bardock, Zima, and Paragus. "YOU!" Freeza points at the father and friend of Broly. "YOU DIE NOW!"
Paragus and Zima yell Broly's name in hopes that he would save them before their demise. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Hearing their cries from afar, Broly takes it upon himself to stop the beam clash between him and Vegeta. By flying through it himself, he causes it to explode prematurely, catching Vegeta off-guard and punching him away. As Vegeta was soaring off, Broly followed the echoes of Paragus and Zima to see what's going on.
There's an intense knot in the Saiyan's stomach. The tone of their voices - it was that of despair. Once he made it to the scene, he watched as Paragus and Zima were swiftly wiped away from existence at the hands of Freeza. Paragus had a beam through the heart. Zima caught him but before he could come to his senses and attack, Freeza blasted the both of them to oblivion.
That was it.
Broly could feel a sudden snap in his brain. His entire body felt numb, as did his emotions. But once it all registered. He let himself loose.
With a feral scream, Broly changed the colors of Planet Vegeta's atmosphere as the heavy rains continued to fall so heavy to the point of where they felt like oversized rocks piercing the skin.
Everyone remained looking on, unable to say a single word. Broly's body shook and it seemed that his skin just departed from his body, being shed away like a snake does its skin.
Paragus was his father. Zima was his only friend. Of all the time they spent together on Planet Vampa...for it to be taken away...just like that...Broly never experienced such pain in his life.
Prince Vegeta rushed in to attack Broly, but the barrage of chi attacks shooting from Broly's purge energy that overwhelmed him pushed Vegeta back. In a matter of moments, Planet Vegeta was set ablaze as the rain poured. Everyone else still capable had to take to the skies and higher up in hopes of not getting attacked themselves.
Vegeta was the only one who remained in the same vicinity.
This scenery. A planet being torn apart by pure rage and raw power; it was the closest to hell that the living could come close to witnessing with their naked eyes.
Shin and Kibito both had to clap their hands to bring a barrier around themselves, alongside Bardock, Tarble, and Gohan.
"BROLY!" Vegeta screams at the top of his lungs. Powering up, he grabs the Saiyan's attention.
Broly's only response is through battle. The Saiyan fires for Vegeta, who rushes in as well. Not realizing the dramatic increase in strength, the first punch from Broly is enough to knock a few back teeth out of Vegeta's mouth. The Saiyan prince is then blown away from a chi attack by Broly's body, but the series of assaults doesn't stop there. With each that comes, Vegeta feels his body being rocked more. The next strike is quicker, rawer, and faster than the last. There was absolutely nothing Vegeta could do to defend himself.
"This...this power…" Gohan muttered. "I...I can't believe…"
With Broly sending Vegeta down, the Saiyan brings his attention back to Freeza, who's eyes widen. Flying past Shin's barrier, Freeza gets his turn. Had Freeza thought his beating from earlier was the worst punishment he could have gotten...he was dead wrong now.
The first punch he received from Broly was enough to knock him unconscious. Every single strike he rendered Freeza after was simply overkill at that point. Due to being the murderer of both Paragus and Zima, Broly let him have all his rage. Freeza's insides rocked and quaked until they burst. Blood oozed from every orfice of his body until his body's structure felt synonymous to that of a rag doll. Even then, Broly wouldn't let up.
Watching as Freeza is reduced to a dead body being beaten on prior to being blasted to oblivion, Prince Vegeta bears witness to his one and only true master being killed. Broly lets out a sorrowful war-cry, powering up even more. But his war cries come inferior to those of Vegeta's, who lets his very own rage overcome him as well.
The impact of Vegeta's Super Saiyan transformation takes an even greater impact than Broly's did. Vegeta's sheer power alters the reality that he and everyone else is in, sending them into some unrecognizable dimension.
In this special colored environment, Vegeta's one mighty roar and metamorphosis into his Super Saiyan transformation had his eyes go pupiless akin to Broly's. His hair spiked and his body was just as hulked as his opponent's.
The two Saiyans rushed at one another once more. Both punched one another in the face, but Broly was sent back flying. Vegeta rushed in for Broly and continued to punch on him incessantly, each blow mandating that Broly cough up blood in the process.
"These...these are the Legendary Super Saiyans…" Bardock muttered. "Such power...in the stories, one was told to be enough to wipe out everyone, but two? This planet is doomed."
As if on cue, with Broly powering up even more, using his ikari form as a Super Saiyan, he breaks out of his armor. The next connected blow that he and Prince Vegeta share break them out of this dimension and back to Planet Vegeta, which is utterly engulfed in flames. Lava geysers are everywhere as said lava builds from the ground up, rapidly taking over the planet's being.
But Broly, nor Vegeta care. Their eyes are only for one another. They won't stop until everything in their way is dead and destroyed.
Vegeta, the unstoppable force.
Broly, the immovable object.
"We have to get the hell out of here," Bardock tells them. "Just let them be and destroy themselves in the process. We need to get as far away from here as possible!"
"That can't happen," Kibito tells Bardock.
"And why the hell not!?" the soldier barked.
"They need to be defeated before this planet meets its demise," Shin informs the Saiyan warrior. "If Planet Vegeta is just seconds from imploding as the two are fighting, chances are they will both do anything they can to survive...even self-destruct; you saw earlier what their combined powers are capable of doing - bringing us to different dimensions. If they detonate simultaneously, it puts the entire Universe at great risk."
"So that's what you're here to prevent," Tarble concludes.
"Precisely," Gohan responded.
"Gohan," Shin started. "I wasn't lying to you when I told you that you must take it upon yourself to save the Universe; I honestly knew that it'd come to this - that we'd have no choice but to use the fusion." Opening his palm up, he hands them to Gohan. "One goes on your left ear."
Doing just that, Gohan asks, "And the other?"
"Broly's right ear," Shin answered.
"WHAT!?" Gohan, Bardock, and Tarble shouted in unison.
"You want the boy to go that close to that uncontrollable lunatic!?" Bardock asked. "He'd be better off with me."
"On the contrary," Shin responded. "I'm not sure you two together would be strong enough to provide for a warrior strong enough to fight the other Saiyan, but with Gohan and Broly...they can. Gohan is more likely to be the dominant personality over Broly...and with their insane latent powers combined and multiplied times over...I have reason to believe Vegeta will be no match for either of them."
Gohan was momentarily silent. Looking over to Vegeta and Broly, the former of the two seemed to have the upper hand at this point. Sure enough, Broly was fighting back, giving it everything he had, but Vegeta was in a league of his own at this point. Both were in equal transformations at this point and Vegeta was wiping the floor with Broly. But worst of all, Planet Vegeta was on a time-limit.
"Alright, give it here," Gohan said.
"Gohan, wait," Tarble called out.
But the half-saiyan was already out of the barrier when Tarble called him out. When there, Gohan felt his insides virtually shaking every time the other two Saiyans connected blows with one another. He knew for sure that anyone else outside the barrier had died at this point - if not by their impacts, then by the lava that continued to build up.
Gohan waited and observed the fight, trying to find the perfect opportunity to get there. Broly and Vegeta were going back and forth, delivering blow after blow. Broly held onto his rage and sorrow to keep on pushing as Prince Vegeta was just duking it out at this point. The two enraged Saiyans didn't seem as if they weren't going to stop soon at this rate.
But Broly had been blown away.
"NOW…" Gohan said to himself.
Timing the amount of time it'd take him to arrive to Broly as he compared his speed to the velocity rate at which Broly fell, Gohan knew he'd have this one and only shot. He had to take Vegeta into account as well, as he was not letting Broly off the hook so easily. Once behind the falling Broly, Gohan grabbed onto him and quickly attached the ear-ring to his right ear.
As soon as he was let go, Broly had been kicked down into the growing lava below. Looking back at everyone in the barrier, they just looked on. Looking back down, Vegeta decided to charge an energy attack and end him. Much to his surprise, Broly came zooming out involuntarily. As he was pulled to Gohan, Gohan was pulled right to him as well.
From the moment their bodies made contact, a bright light shown across the entire planet, temporarily blinding Vegeta. The fusion was so strong that its mere presence caused the planet to shake even more.
The fusion of Gohan and Broly wore a green fur with purple pants and a kai shirt; the hair was just like Broly's, though its length extended down to his feet.
The fusion remained still. Deep down, Gohan could feel this sudden rage building up. A few times he's experienced it over the years, but he's learned to handle it. Yelling out, transforming into a Super Saiyan, the very core of Planet Vegeta was shook. All of the lava building up rose and pulled itself to the fusion of Gohan and Broly, circling them like the sun would any planet. As being a part of Broly, there was a deep, strong, and compelling urge begging him to just let his sanity go and fight all out at even his own expense. But he couldn't. Gohan learned to hold onto his anger and hone it into battle. This was no different.
Vegeta fired an attack of his own, but the blast was swatted away effortlessly.
"His power…" Kibito gulped.
Raising his finger to Vegeta, the fusion. spoke. "I. Kill. You." There wasn't time to be wasted. If he was going to kill Vegeta, then it had to be done this instant. There was no telling when Planet Vegeta would meet its end and Gohan surely didn't want to take any chances. With the great opportunity of fusing with one of the most fiercest and strongest beings of the Universe, he had to capitalize.
The fusion rushed in for Vegeta, punching him dead center in the stomach. Blood spat up on the man's arm, but he didn't care. Prince Vegeta was then grabbed by the throat and raised into the sky. He reached for the fused warrior, but to no avail. Vegeta was let go before being backfisted into the face and kicked in the chin. A solid gut-check and an uppercut was more than enough to leave him soaring. The fused warrior then proceeded to ram his fist into Vegeta's back before cupping his hands together, charging his final attack.
"KAMEHAMEHA!"
With Vegeta engulfed by the attack, the result therein after is absolutely nothing. All there left is the potara fusion of Broly and Gohan. Shin and all the others left out a sigh of relief as the fused warrior headed back to them in the barrier.
He was monstrous looking, yet also seemingly timid. Broly was pretty much sleeping at this point as Gohan took on the full personality. Still, he held onto Broly's memories and his attachments.
"Before we go to Earth...we must go to Planet Vampa…"
The entire time, Kureeza had remained in his quarters, keeping an eye on Planet Vegeta. The lavish color it used to hold seemed nothing but red and on the verge of exploding at this point. He listened to everything through the scouters. Absolutely nothing went as planned and the son of Freeza was livid because of it.
Once Planet Vegeta explodes, all Kureeza can do is shake his head. There isn't a single trace of anything - no Saiyan... no soldier of the Freeza Force...his father...Raditz...or Prince Vegeta. All gone.
As he stands there, Kureeza immediately comes to the realization that he will have to be the one to take his father's place. Left with less than half of his father's empire due to the Saiyan erasure, as well as the deaths of many other soldiers during battle, Kureeza felt as if he was virtually building from scratch. Such a stress that was put on him, but sure enough...he was prepared to take this challenge up head on. Perhaps this was why his father told him to stay back? Just in case he failed? Kureeza quickly shook his head at the thought; his father couldn't have doubted his own powers - no way. Besides, he couldn't dwell on that now. As far as he was concerned, he was the new galactic ruler that was destined to spread his power and authority across the universe.
The sliding doors of his quarters open - two soldiers. Kureeza is already cognizant for what they've come to inform him.
"Lord Kureeza, sir...we are very sorry for your loss. Raditz, Prince Vegeta, nor did Lord Freeza himself survive the blast. There isn't anything we can trace - no pieces, appendages, DNA...nothing, sire. We're sorry and you have our condolences."
The two soldiers drop dead on Kureeza's floor with holes having been made through their heads. Carelessly, Kureeza removes his eyes from the sight of where Planet Vegeta used to be and walks past the bodies of the dead soldiers he just murdered nonchalantly.
Walking through the corridors, Kureeza clicks his scouter. "Kuni, Nion...where are you?"
"Planet Tech-Tech, sire. Is there anything you need?"
"Father's dead, as are the warrior Saiyans of Planet Vegeta; now that the Universe is in my hands, my first order is for the execution of the remaining Saiyans on that world and the servitude of its natural inhabitants." Cutting the reception, Kureeza's lips curled into a smile.
"One can cut the apple, but another one shall grow in its place...ohohoho…"
