Silver Beast: BakaYasha

June 2 - Tuesday 11:30 AM

"Why do we have to do a class picture again?" Kagome asked as they waited around in the gymnasium with the other seniors.

"I guess someone in the yearbook club wants to have our class stand in the formation of 2010 for the opening cover." Yuka said as the art teacher yelled over the megaphone moving her classmates into position.

"Well that's certainly creative." Kagome said just as their art teacher yelled into the megaphone again. "You there! Shorty in the green tank!"

"Me?" Kagome pointed to herself as the art teacher looked in her direction.

"Yes, you! I need you to come stand by the guy in the red flannel!" the art teacher said as she pointed across the gymnasium.

"Awe man! I was hoping to stand by you guys." Kagome frowned.

"It will be alright." Eri sympathized as she stood beside her boyfriend Fred.

"Don't forget to smile!" Yuka joked as she waved Kagome goodbye.

"Yeah, yeah." Kagome sighed as she walked through the crowd to the other side of the gym. Her bad mood instantly disappeared when the guy wearing the red flannel came into view.

"There you are." Inuyasha smirked as he welcomed his girlfriend into his arms. "I was wondering where you were."

"I was waiting for you on the other side of the gym." Kagome giggled as she stood in front of him like her teacher instructed. "Lucky me! I get to stand beside you!"

"Keh." Inuyasha smirked before kissing her lips.

"Alright you too. Knock off the PDA before I have to separate you." Mrs. Bryd chuckled as she helped some of the other teachers move the students into position.

"Yes, Mrs. Bryd." Kagome blushed as she bashfully looked up at her smug looking boyfriend through her lashes.

"Alright class of 2010! I need everyone to stop talking and turn towards the camera! Great! Now on the count of 3, I want everyone to smile and cheer the word, "finally," as loud as you can!" the art teacher said, making everyone laugh. "Once the photo is taken I want everyone to stay where you are so we can make sure the picture is good! Ok! Here we go! 1... 2... 3!"

"FINALLY!" Everyone cheered together as the photographer took a stream of photos.

"Wait! Nobody move!" the art teacher yelled causing everyone to pause in their step. "How's the picture?"

"We're good!" he said, earning happy cheers from everyone.

"Hold up! Before everyone goes back to class, we need to talk about graduation!" Principle Jones yelled. "I need everyone to sit in the bleachers so we can pass out a few things."

"Great... another delay." Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

"Come on, I'm sure it won't be that bad." Kagome smiled as she took his hand. "Besides, you get to sit by me!"

"What if I don't want to sit by you?" Inuyasha teased as he pulled her towards the far end of the bleachers.

"You don't have to if you don't want to. I'm sure Koga will be more than happy to keep me company." Kagome joked as she waved to Koga and his friends as they sat down towards the back.

"Feh! As if I'd let that fleabag anywhere near you. Especially after last night." Inuyasha scoffed as he possessively pulled her into his side. His eyes narrowed warningly when he noticed the jealous glare coming from said wolf.

"Why do you guys hate each other so much?" Kagome frowned as she sat beside him on the wooden bench.

"We're both alphas. We're bound to butt heads." Inuyasha shrugged as the teachers began passing out papers for them to keep. "We only work together because we have to for the sake of the Rez."

"You know you don't have to worry about Koga taking me away from you." Kagome reassured him as she caught sight of Koga glaring at Inuyasha. His glare darkened when Inuyasha dared to place his hand on her thigh. "I don't like him like that."

"I know, it just pisses me off that he won't quit." Inuyasha growled as he continued to stare Koga down. "It's like he's just waiting for the opportunity to take you away from me. I feel like if I leave your side for one second he'll be all over you."

"Oh, he's already tried that." Kagome joked before instantly covering her mouth.

"What?!" Inuyasha snapped. "What did he do?"

"Shh!" Kagome hushed as she tried to calm him down. "You want to get us in trouble?"

"What. Did. He. Do?" Inuyasha growled quietly so as not to draw unwanted attention.

"Please don't get mad!" Kagome begged, only making his eyes darken further with anger. "He kissed me on the cheek when we were playing dodgeball! It was all in good fun I swear!"

"All in good fun? Damn it Kagome! He fucking kissed you!" Inuyasha fumed causing a couple people to turn and look at them. "I'll kill him. I'll fucking kill him for touching you!"

"Inuyasha, please... quite down." Kagome blushed as everyone turned to look at them. "You're making a scene."

"Did you throw yourself at him or something? I mean seriously Kagome! WTF? The second I leave your side he's all over you!" Inuyasha yelled, causing her to lower her head in shame.

"INUYASHA!" Principal Jones yelled, snapping Inuyasha's attention away from Kagome's. "Apologize to Mrs. Higurashi this instant!"

"I..." Inuyasha paled as he suddenly realized what he'd done. His heart sank as he felt the disapproving stares of his classmates as the unmistakable sting of salt stung his nose.

"NOW!" Principle Jones yelled making him flinch.

"Kags... I..." Inuyasha tried to apologize as Kagome's posture continued to shrivel in on itself.

He knew how much she hated being the center of attention. Him shaming her in front of their entire class was the shittiest thing he could have done. He could literally feel everyone's eyes on them as he struggled to get the right words together in his head. The way she whimpered and curled in on herself made her look weak and vulnerable. He could tell she wanted to run and hide but stayed only because she knew it would draw even more attention to herself. He hated it. He hated how it made her look. He hated that he'd done this to her. Shit, he hated himself! Kagome wasn't meant to be like this. She was supposed to be happy and feel loved and protected. She was not meant to be shadowed by his insecurities. He was a jerk, a complete jackass. Being unable to make his tongue work he did the only thing he could think of. He pulled her into a tight hug.

"Please, don't hate me." Inuyasha begged as he buried his nose into her neck.

"Inuyasha?" Kagome sniffled with wide teary eyes.

"I didn't mean to say those things." Inuyasha tried to explain.

"I know, and I could never hate you Inuyasha." Kagome sniffled as she hesitantly hugged him back.

"Good." Inuyasha sighed in relief as he nuzzled into her neck.

"Just please don't freak out on me like that again." Kagome begged, making his shoulders relax.

"I promise." Inuyasha vowed before leaning back to cup her cheek. "Never again."

"Mm." Kagome nodded before accepting his soft peck on the lips.

"Awe! That was so sweet!" Mrs. Bryd gushed, causing Kagome and Inuyasha to blush heavily.

"Lucky bastard..." Koga grumbled causing Hakkaku and Ginta to chuckle.

"Drama's over folks!" Principal Jones yelled, snapping everyone's attention to the center of the gymnasium again. "I need everyone to look at the blue sheet Mr. Thomas handed out. If you did not get a blue sheet, raise your hand and someone will get you one! If you look down at the middle section you will see the dress requirements for the ceremony! I want to make this very clear that we will not, I repeat we will NOT be repeating what happened last year!"

"What happened last year?" Kagome whispered as everyone around her chuckled.

"Some kid thought it would be funny to streak across the stage when it came time to get his diploma." Inuyasha said making Kagome cover her mouth to keep from snorting. "No one really knows how he managed to walk in and sit with his classmates without getting caught. You would think someone would have seen that he wasn't wearing any pants under his graduation robes."

"That's hilarious." Kagome chuckled quietly. "Did he get caught?"

"Oh, yeah! He had to do community service all summer to make up for it." Inuyasha said just as Principal Jones held up a yellow paper into the air.

"On this sheet you will find the room assignments for Saturday morning! Make sure you arrive at least thirty minutes before the ceremony so we can get everyone into position!" Principle Jones said. "Does anyone have any questions?"

"Where do we go after the ceremony?" someone called from the other end of the gym.

"Once the band begins to play you will exit out that door and head into the band room. You will pick up your yearbook and prom pictures there. After that, you are free to find your parents and live out the rest of your lives!" Principal Jones said, earning cheers from everyone. "Any other questions? No? Alright everyone you are free to go back to class! Good luck on the rest of your exams!"

"Woo hoo! This is so exciting! I can't believe we're really almost done!" Ayumi squealed as Inuyasha and Kagome made their way towards them.

"I know!" Yuka exclaimed. "We should have a party somewhere afterwards to celebrate!"

"We could have one at my place?" Fred offered. "My dad renovated an old pole barn behind our house for us to have parties in."

"You sure you're dad won't mind?" Eri asked.

"Hell no! He has his buddies over all the time to watch the games on the big screen." Fred said. "I'm sure he wouldn't care if we had an after party for graduation."

"Who all are you inviting?" Inuyasha asked.

"The barn is big enough to invite our entire class." Fred shrugged. "I'll talk to my parents tonight. Don't be surprised to find an invite in your locker tomorrow."

"Awesome!" Yuka fist pumped. "We'll be sure to make it the best graduation party ever!"

"Another party! I can't wait!" Kagome giggled, making Inuyasha smile.
