The empty cabin did not surprise Melinda. It amused her and not in a sane way. Still whistling to herself she walked to the only other small room in the cabin. She noticed the window stood open. "Like lost little lambs they all jumped through the window." Melinda said as she touched the blood on the handle of the window. She looked down at the blood on her finger with a crazy look. Melinda's eyes narrowed. There was only one-foot path at the back so that means they have no other choice but to take it. It makes things very easy for her, Melinda thought to herself. She underestimated this part of the woods. She found herself lost a couple of times but this time she will get them. This time there is only one way for them to go and that is hell.

Quietly and carefully, she jumped through the window crossbow ready in hand landing softly on both feet like a predator. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around her turning her head from side to side and than she looked down on the ground.

Caroline watched Melinda's movements with a fast beating hard. Why is she still standing there and why is she looking down? flash through Caroline's head. She didn't have to wait too long for the answer because at that moment Melinda made a step to the side of the cabin they were hiding.

Caroline ducted away just in time. We got to move now before she finds us here That lifesaving sentence flashed through Caroline's mind but nothing came out over her dry lips. She looked back at Stella and Kate her eyes wide with fear. She raised her hands but her hands only made wild incoherent movements.

"What is it?" Stella whispered ghost white in the face. Caroline quickly covered Stella's mouth with her hand.

Melinda suddenly stopped and crouched down. She picked up a blood covered leave and looked at it closely. The blood was still fresh so whom ever it was, was standing here recently. She looked back over her shoulder at the foot path.

Nerve wrecking minutes ticked by before Melinda got up to her feet and turned back.

It took everything in Caroline to look again and make sure Melinda was not there anymore. "She's gone. She's going after Bonnie." Caroline whispered in a weak voice.

RUN BONNIE RUN

Flashback

"Today I want to show you something." Sheila said over her shoulder at young Bonnie who was following closely behind her.

"We have never been this deep in the dark woods before Ma. Is it safe?" Bonnie said with a look of concern on her pretty face.

Sheila smiled and said. "With me it is, so you best keep up. You are really slow today.

"I want to take my time and beside we are not in a hurry or anything."

"Well sometimes you just have to run to catch the magic in time." Sheila said with a soft smile.

End of flashback

Present time... Heaving for air Bonnie stopped and leaned against a tree to catch her breath. "I can't stop now. I'm almost there." She said to herself out of breath." She closed her eyes and steadied herself up straight. "Come on Bonnie RUN." She said with a determined look. Bonnie pushed herself away from the tree and started to run again.

Flashback

"Good to see you keeping up with me." Sheila said as she took Bonnie's hand in hers.

"I have no choice. You're really walking fast for an old lady." Bonnie said with a cheeky smile.

Sheila just smiled and pulled her grand daughter closer to her together the two walked on in comfortable silence. Bonnie thinking about Damon, wishing he was there with her, holding her hand. She smiled at the thought of the two of them together like that.

"Penny for your thoughts."

Bonnie just giggled and said. "It's nothing Ma. I'm just enjoying the walk and the clear morning air."

"The eyes can say allot even if there are no words coming forth, but that happy smile on your face comforts my heart." Sheila said.

On days like this Bonnie felt closer to Sheila like never before. Her grams looked at peace with the world and so different from the woman she lived with everyday in their little house in Silver Lake.

"Okay, so what is it that you want to show me?" Bonnie asked excited.

"The heart of the dark woods." Sheila said with a secretive smile.

"The big tree? It must be a thousand years old." Bonnie said and made wide playful eyes at her grandma.

"No, not the tree."

Bonnie's eyes suddenly grew wide. "You're talking about her. The Mystical Flower of the dark woods. Oh, M GEE Grams! Why didn't you tell me? We could have brought the camera with us."

"You have your eyes to capture her and your mind to store her beauty forever in your memory." Sheila said deep in thought.

"Yeah, but memories fade in time until there's nothing left. Pictures last forever." Bonnie said with a cheery smile.

Sheila suddenly stopped and slowly turned back to Bonnie with a deep sad look on her face. "You say that so happily even smiling. Yes, pictures last forever but losing one's memories of everything they once loved and what they have come to know in life. What they have become and fought so hard for? Fading memories are not something to sound cheery over, child."

"I'm sorry Ma, I didn't mean it like that." Bonnie mumbled with her head down.

Sheila smiled softly and pulled Bonnie closer to her. "Head up, I forget that you are still sometimes just a naïve little girl. You are all I have left. I know I can be a little strict sometimes."

"Only sometimes. Ma you are on me twenty for seven." Bonnie said and laughed softly.

Sheila smiled and poked Bonnie's nose playfully. "One day when you have daughters of your own you will understand."

"I think I want sons and only one. Daughters are way too complicated take me for example." Bonnie said with a shy smile.

Sheila's sweet melodious laughter lit Bonnie's heart up like a thousand stars. "I wouldn't have said that if I were you." Sheila said with a happy smile.

"Why not?"

"Because now you will get a dozen daughters. A full house of them crying and making a mess everywhere." Sheila said and playfully pulled a lock of Bonnie's hair.

The smile that spread over Bonnie's face made Sheila happy but at the same time so sad because that smile and face reminded her so much of her daughter Abigail. Sheila knew she was sick she didn't need a doctor to tell her that the cancer was spreading through her body like poison and every day she worried more and more about Bonnie and who will be there for her once she's gone. Her old heart longed to see her lost daughter Abigail one more time, but she knew, only with Gods will and if she has to leave this earth without seeing her daughter one last time than so be it. All of this did weight heavy on her but she was strong, strong in her faith and strong in her believe that death is not the final chapter and that's what's keeping her going.

"Ma, did you just hear what I said?" Bonnie said and pulled gently on Sheila's arm. "I said I don't have to worry because you will be there to help me take care of my daughters."

"Yes, I did hear you." Sheila said with a soft smile. "Bonnie you will raise your children the best way you can. A mother your daughters and sons will love and be proud of. You won't need my help child." She kissed Bonnie softly on her cheek and turned her to look at the flower they came all this way to see. "Look, there she is. Blossoming in all her glory." Sheila said as a single tear rolled down her face.

End of flashback

Present time... Bonnie dropped down on her knees in front of the beautiful flower with tears in her eyes. "Grams why did you leave me? I wasn't ready to be without you." Bonnie cried out as her tears dripped down on the flower.

Leaves suddenly cracked behind her. She knew who it was.

"Well would you look at this sorry sight." Melinda said with a cold smile. Melinda's wet hair cling to her face. She sounded a bit out of breath from running after Bonnie. "I must say you are fast for a little person. I thought you were done for when you leaned against that tree back there. Hell, I even made myself ready to take you out but somehow you got away again running like the devil is behind you." Melinda said and laughed mockingly. "I see you left your friends behind. You offered yourself, very stupid of you, now you're going to die alone here and when I'm done with you, I will go find your friends and kill them one by one. It is just a pity I can't kill you in front of each other, but I will settle with what I can get. Your death Bonnie Bennet." Melinda said and laughed hard and ugly with a crazy look in her eyes. She raised the bow in her hands and aimed it Bonnie's head.
