Nodoka hurried through the store, glancing down at her list periodically as she grabbed the items she needed off of shelves. She had the air of a woman rushed and harried and just a bit of a temper beginning to sizzle. She wanted to get home and start cooking, was eager to see both of her children to bask in the good fortune of her family. The baby was healthy, if still young, Kagome was slowly healing and Souta had made Dean's List at his University.
Her luck today though was not going well. It was part of the reason she was so frazzled and ready to be back in the relative peace and quiet of the shrine. Her car had broken down, she'd left her ATM card in the machine and would now have to wait for another one to be dispatched and her own health was not quite what it used to be. She had a doctor's appointment the next day that she was not at all looking forward to.
She was in so much of a hurry that as she rounded the corner and was looking in the opposite direction, she ran into somebody. The basket slipped out of her hands and all of her items crashed to the floor. Thankfully, she hadn't gotten anything glass yet. Close to bursting with temper and building frustration, she turned on her victim and promptly lost all thought, a soft blush rising to color her cheeks.
Toga grinned at her and winked charmingly. "Higurashi-san, my apologies," he said as he knelt to gather her groceries.
Sense returned at the last moment and she crouched down beside him to help. "I'm the one who should apologize. I wasn't paying attention and I'm just having such—
"A bad day," he finished and purposely brushed her hand when they reached for the same item, to gauge her reaction.
That blush on her cheeks deepened and she cleared her throat, suddenly shy. "Yes; a very bad day. I was beginning to think one of the Kami had it out for me," she murmured as she put the last item back in her basket.
He raised a brow and standing, offered her a hand to help her up. "Then let this one make it up to you. Let me buy you a coffee."
Nodoka hesitated, before shaking her head. "I'm sorry, I really don't have the time today," she said, truly disappointed at the missed chance. She bit her lip in thought, before smiling brightly. "Why don't you and the rest of your family come to dinner tonight? You can meet my father and son. It would be a great chance to get to know everyone."
Toga didn't even have the chance to be disappointed as her words filled his ears and he smiled charmingly. "I would love the chance to get to know more about you," he answered.
