Kagome stared bemusedly at the scene before her, not sure whether to laugh or to scream. There were children in the house. At least five, maybe six. She couldn't tell because they kept racing about the living room. Sesshoumaru sat stoically on the outskirts, one leg crossed over the other as he watched the children. Near to him, closer to the television, was the man she assumed was his brother, and Kikyo. Souta and his flavor of the week lounged against the couch on the floor, lost in flirty chatter and heated glances. Grandpa, bless him, was curled up in an armchair with his sutras held close, his eyes darting back and forth to every demon in the room, but especially to Toga. Who just happened to be in the middle of it all, chatting up her mother.
As soon as Nodoka saw her daughter, she grinned and jumped up, rushing over to hug the younger woman, a blush fading from her cheeks. "Kagome! I wanted to surprise you!"
Deciding it wasn't worth it to be angry, she hugged her mother in return and laughed. "If I had known we were having a party I would have invited Sango and Miroku," she said lightly.
All of a sudden, a tiny body slammed into her leg and she looked down into the grinning face of a green eyed kit. "Kagome! Did you bring pocky?"
