"You bought me two teddy bears."
"Yeah. One from me and one from Fitz."
"I can't eat food anymore. I have to eat cereal again every day."
"No, you don't have to eat cereal." Olivia said.
Maya grabbed her purse and tried to ignore the pain in her back and legs. She couldn't sit in that plastic chair any longer. Days like this reminded her that she wasn't a young lady anymore. She would need to take a few pain pills when she left the hospital.
"I'm going home Livvie."
"Thanks mom."
"Are you ready to go home?" Fitz asked, Amelia.
"Yeah."
"I have to ask you something." Fitz kneeled down to be eye level with Amelia. "Do you want me to be your new dad?"
"You are my new dad. I don't know when my other mom and dad are coming back."
Olivia looked at Fitz. Gina was right. Amelia didn't understand.
"Do you want them to come back?" Fitz asked.
"No, they are mean. I don't want to go back home with them."
"Amelia, Jake and Abby are never coming back."
"Your mom and I are getting married. You can be Amelia Grant. Do you want that?" Fitz asked.
"I can have a new last name?"
"Yes."
"Can we practice spelling Grant, mom?"
"Yes, your new last name can be one of your spelling words."
"I like Grant better than Ballard. Can I go to your wedding?"
"Yes, you can be my flower girl." Olivia said.
"What is Karen going to be?"
"Somewhere sleeping." Fitz said.
"Karen is boring."
Olivia laughed, "She won't always be a baby."
Fitz stood to his full height and reached down to pick up Amelia. Olivia grabbed the car seat.
"Let's go home." Fitz said.
