(Well it's taken a little longer to get this done. Working on a few projects from my MBA classes. Got a little free time now)

She was standing high along the edge of the roofline. Nothing, a shadow that swallowed the faraway lights of the night sky. It was the only hint she existed. Looking silently as Samantha bounced across the rubble. Her heart slamming against her tiny chest, boots skipping over the debris.

The shadow gave the impression of looking over at Kuroko Sharai, standing silent and perfectly motionless. A smirk appeared, recognizing the change in the tall redhead thinning her eyes. She knew…nothing worse than an excited vampire. Rules will break in the heat of things. Promises will no longer be held. Bonds will be broken. Someone always dies. A length of metal gleamed in her right hand and cold stillness flooded her eyes.

The shadowy form showed a glimpse of life. She sighed, guess I should interfere…probably. Sounding a little disappointed. Giving an off handed wave, the shadows across the roofline, readied themselves. In a moment, the distant lights flickered, and she was no longer.

Samantha yelled, leaping like a rabbit being chased. She laughed, jumping with her arms stretched, victory! Hug! then suddenly her feet flung forward and high. With the smell of dirt, her boots slipped passed her face, Kuroko tilted her head, looking past the swinging ornament called Samantha.

She was there, her porcelain skin, long black hair, and warm dark eyes. Ryou? She questioned, almost immediately shook her head, she's Just like her mother…. slipped across Kuroko's Mind. Aoi? A little surprised by her appearance.

Hello, Kuroko…smiling warmly. Has this one been bothering you too much…? Spoke Aoi, daughter of Ryou. A dragon class vampire gripped the top of the tiny vampires' head. Samantha stopped swinging and hung, growled, squirmed like a fish on the line. sounding like thick rope pulled tightly, Aoi's fingers dug into Samantha's' hair.

(In terms of strength and power she was multiple steps above Samantha. And that was saying a lot. Samantha was a Hellion class vampire. The power of a Queen. The blood and venom of her queen pumped through her veins. But Aoi was something a little different. Well…something a lot different. She was a dragon class vampire, one of only a few. She shared the blood and venom of her mother and her mother shared the blood and venom from the Vampire Goddess, Mochizuki. To make it remarkably simple. She was incredibly strong and had a genuinely nice personality.)

Samantha didn't have to asked. She twisted her mouth, looked, well she was annoyed, and a little angry. Her face twisted and deformed. She reached above her head, grabbed Aoi's slender hand and growled. Aooooiiiiiiii…. let me….

Aoi shook her harder. Now, now little rabbit…. dont make me…. she slowly grinned, leaned closer and whispered a little loudly. I will skin you alive…all before you can say…oh…. she twisted her mouth, well…. anything…and casually dropped her…. smacked her hands together and sighed disappointedly. Knowing what was coming next.

Samantha landed. Quickly spun around, her fist becoming a blur, and just as suddenly stopped. The air exploded. The shockwave rolled and passed over Kuroko. shhhhiiiittttt…the chill washed over her. she just doesnt learn.... Kuroko sighed.

Aoi held the sleeve of her kimono. Her willowy wrist and hand shone. a single slim finger with well-manicured nail pressed against Samantha's clenched fist. Samantha's arm shook, gritted her teeth, looking ready to explode. And the tall, beautiful vampire with porcelain skin, long black hair, and warm eyes. Remained still, the only movement was the wind fluttering over her long blacker than black kimono.

Kuroko shook her head, Its fine…answering an unasked question. Not like she had a chance…she spoke, reaching out, poking Samantha with the long steel spike in her right hand. I'd stake the bitch before she could get that excited.

Aoi, smiled an open smile showing her three sets of fangs. A characteristic of all dragon class vampires, nodding, one never knows…. quickly disappeared and reappeared behind Kuroko's back…when it happens. One should always be prepared. The chills she felt before rushed back, ran down her Spine to the soles of her feet. Aoi's warm breath touched her cheek and warm fingers fell over her hand holding the spike.

Shit…just a quick as her mother…Kuroko, nervously laughed.

She had no chance against Aoi, and she knew it. But Aoi was the type to act methodical and honest. Her word was everything. I won't take anyone by force. Only take the ones that want to be…she'd say without much effort in her tone. Those who are dying. Those afraid to answer for the sins, turn the killers of children, rapist, and politicians. And then with a smile, make them wish they'd died and gone to hell…. because I will give them something hell cannot offer them…an unending hunger and thirst. And then end them….

(Scholars have argued that vampires are the epitome of evil. Vile personifications of evil. Many receiving eternal life in exchange for their souls. But what about those who are taken by force. Or those who'd volunteered out of fear of dying. Or those who became vampires to protect their families, villages throughout history. Or those who make a simple mistake? A person turned into a vampire is compelled by the one who turned them. in other words, they are a reflection of their Masters' will. She knew this. Kuroko had read many books about the subject. Read many reports gathered by Academy City's researchers. She had conversations with a certain nun intraining. Asked a certain priestess inflicted with the curse of deep blood. Her blood drew them to her and destroy vampires.

What are vampires? she asked with a shaky voice. the young priestess smiled softy, they act and look like humans, they live in small villages, towns, and large cities. they are women, men, husbands, wives, and children…. many through no fault of their own…forced against their wills…And there was the certain short blonde's answer…. it's what I am? So, deal with or I'll bite you! she said clicking her teeth.)

She took a deep breath, exhaled, anyway…Aoi holding Kuroko's hand and poked Samantha with the steel spike again as if she were testing the armor. She laughed. Enough of this flirting…letting go, stepping away, this one can get a little excited. so, her calm demeanor shift, becoming more well friendly like. As if a longed lived vampire could find anything remotely interesting. But with Kuroko…it was interesting. where did you send him? six feet under, looking down…in the middle of a wall of…. looking around. Come on…. she smirked, give me some hints…hide and seek now?

Kuroko pointed to the night sky. Five miles and falling. Straight up…. they looked up. Aoi's eyes shifting like a cat…yes…I can see him…raised her head. A soft smile appeared looking up into the night sky.

UP! she yelled, pointing to the sky, get ready!

At the edge of shadows, two young women dressed in maids' outfits came into view. Each one wearing black and white. But opposite. Samantha waved. They nodded. smaller forms jumped and scampered across the rooftops, working, and setting somethings up. Another came closer, wearing an odd assortment of what looked like her own variety of a maid outfit, a purely-British made-to-order, some kind of dress arranged Japanese Miko costume, reminiscent of the costume of a shrine maiden. Where have I seen that before, fretting her brow, that looks soooooooooo familiar…. she shivered...Kongou? Kuroko quickly coughed and shook her head. No….no…. she's with the wolves.

She was right. Mitsuko had graduated Academy City and taken over her fathers' aviation company. But not before traveling the world with her close friends, Wannai Kinuho and Awatsuki Maaya and a pack of shewolves from the bakery café. Nothing like traveling down the old silk road on top of large wolves for transportation. She trembled a little remembering the stories Mitsuko told her, or slightly embellished.

The women gave a sly wink of her eyes, Kuroko blushed, can she read my…. nahhhh…closing her eyes, shaking her head. She peeked, really…I hope.

Hurry now…Aoi spoke…

The ugly sound of metal scrapping, clanking of metal on metal, a click and soft whirring. The woman reached down, ready? she turned her head and spoke to someone. Two heads nodded just above the sightline of the roof top, yes mistress…. with two small dark thumbs up and giggling. She slowly rose, shifted her body holding a ….

Kuroko catching her breath, stared up at the rooftops, is that a, seeing it coming to light, she's going to use that to…...what about?

No need…. Aoi said with a smirk across her perfect face.

Oh, this is going to be good…Samantha standing awfully close to Kuroko, raised her right brow, curled edge of her mouth. Put her hand on Kuroko's hip with a firm grip. Kuroko's eyes went wide, slowly narrowed clenching her teeth. This is going to be so romantic.

her muscle tensed and she readied herself, a steel spike teleported into her hand, I am going to send you into the sky Samantha if you don't….

A distant pop, long shrilling and sparkling trail rose and exploded in golden spray like a flower…spread across the night sky.

firework? Kuroko fretted her brow, watching the sparkling trails streaking to earth.

Another distant explosion and another sparkling trail followed by another…each on getting closer and closer

She could hear voices yelling in delight, the ooohs and ahhhh and of course. as she heard it, she couldn't help but smile. Taamayaaaaaa! And it was answer by Kaagiyaaa!

Just near her, A loud boom, smoke and sparks shot from the rooftops…. Kaaagiyaaaa…. voices came from the nearby rooftops.

Aoi looking up as splashes of color filled the sky, A way of disguising what we are about to do…. gently putting her hand on Kuroko's shoulder. It can get very loud.

What? Lost in the beauty in the sky.

Soft whirring grew louder. Kuroko tore her eyes from the sky, lighting up in the brilliant colors, focused on the spinning barrels.

The woman in the unique maids' outfit hoisted to her hip. A 30×173 mm GAU-8/A Avenger autocannon. One of the most powerful aircraft cannons ever flown and send 2,100 or 4,200 rounds per minute flying through the sky and tearing its target apart. The gun's 5-foot long 7 barrels spun faster and faster. The women easily pointed it towards the sky. With her eyes and mouth wide, yelled, Taaaammmmaaaaayaaaaaa…squeezed the trigger. A long torrent of fire cut loose. Sending blazing streaks of her own fireworks up into the air.

Kuroko watched the fireworks saturating the sky with beautiful displays of flowers and fading in the crystal clear night skies, the clinking of smoking glowing cartridges tumbling over the rooftop and bouncing across the ground.

Don't worry…a beautiful voice filled her ears. If you wish to be one...just asked me…a soft childlike laugh followed.

Kuroko looking a little off, looked down at Samantha with her hand still on her hip, watching intently, her wide eyes filled with the images of fireworks. She called out with a childlike wonder, Kaaagiyaaaa….!

Not her?

She turned her head, Aoi with her hand still on her shoulder, watched the sky intently, her white skin flashing with the colors of the fireworks and the autocannon. Tammmmmmaaaayyyyaaaa!

Who was that?
