I was PMed(they wanted to remain anonymous) with a few questions that I will answer here since I assume others might have them. Also if you have future questions, I'd prefer it to be written in the reviews rather than a PM, just to keep things in one place. Anyway, the questions:
How does Time Travel Work: Same as in the show where everything in the past can change events. Now I am not educated on Seer's abilities in shows and lore, but who I chose for it to work is that whatever Cassidy sees, or any other Seer sees, will definitely happen.
How long will this story be?: Depends on you all since I actually have it planned to go on for many more years(in the fanfiction time), but if no one reads it then I'll probably stop, though I want to continue it and hope to do so.
And, "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego", haha, no but seriously it's if Cassidy will have a/the baby: the answer is... You'll have to wait and see.
Anyway, please enjoy this chapter, and sorry it's been a few days, schools crazy.
What had happened? Where was he?
The questions repeated over and over again as the sensation he felt after his medically induced coma, filled his body. He could remember some but not a lot. Though he'd never been on drugs, it felt like he'd drank way too much and his body was unresponsive. But at the same time, he still had complete control of his mind though things were foggy. Honestly, if he had been drugged he wouldn't be surprised. His body ached like it had been beaten a hundred times but refused to give in.
He wanted to die, to be at peace. He didn't even think of his girls, his mom, being the TrollHunter. He just wanted the pain to go away. The pain rising and falling, flooding his entire body. He had no idea what had been done to him, but things were blurry. They were...
Cassidy?
He could've thought of a million things that were more important at that moment, but the first thing that came to mind. His mind ached as it searched for hundreds of answers which would only lead to more unanswered questions." Fucken stop." he cried, unsure if tears were running from his face since it felt numb.
"You are stubborn, but I wouldn't be surprised." a voice sighed. Though unable to use most of his senses, he could hear someone walking around in long circles. On his cheek, he felt something sharp, poking at the skin but not breaking it. A moment later, he felt a sting in the back of his neck and then nothing. It just went numb.
"UH!" he groaned through his teeth. The muscles on his face were numbed and couldn't move nor do anything even if he wanted them to.
"Don't worry James," the person hissed, stepping away to look over the boy."Soon enough, the venom will enter your bloodstream. It'll infest and replace your blood. Soon enough you'll be drowning from the inside and be dead. Then my work will be easy. First that fat friend of yours, he'll be easy to poison. The trolls will be more difficult but after polluting their water with it, they all soon join you above. Finally, most likely the easiest, I will pay your mourning wife and daughter's a visit. While I tell of your last moments, oh did I mention I will be the hero. Ah yes, once you have met death, I will poison myself. Of course, we Changeling's are immune to our own venom so after those foolish trolls welcome me, I will regain consciousness, and whilst poisoning their water they will believe I was the one there when you met your end. Now as I was saying, I will visit your poor wife, poor girl to marry such a crook. With her back turned to care for that precious newborn of hers, it will be easy to get her in the neck. A swift injection and she's gone. Then that precious daughter of yours, Esther is it? Not, Estelle. Ahh, the thing will be crying, held in her dead mother's arms. But her's will be the easiest. Then it's that insolent Seer's turn. She's will be enjoyable, always hated those Seers, giving the enemy an upper edge but at least they all are getting what they deserve. Don't you agree James?"
"W-why?" he asked, ignoring the horrible description of his daughter's, wife's, and friend's coming death.
"Why? I thought you'd be smart enough to figure that out yourself James. But one should never have high hopes for mere humans. Now my plan? Why it goes farther than just killing for the fun of it, though it is a pleasure. But our one goal is to restore order."
"Order?" he asked, trying to pry his eyes open by finding the feat impossible. He'd managed to move his disabled body slightly, his entire body paralyzed. His head grew heavy, and he was forced to ly it against the cold wet ground, the venom causing his neck to fail to hold his throbbing head."What order?"
"The Order of Protogonus." the slimy voice said, pacing around him in long strides, looking down as the boy spasmed in pain, venom taking over his body.
"Pro-AHH!" he moaned, back arching as his body tried to fight the venom, a battle he was failing. From Toby's Greek Mythology faze, he knew that Protogonus was one of the supposed creators of life. But could he really be real? Well, he wouldn't be surprised if he was. Trolls, Aliens, Wizards, and Magic were all real for Pete's sake, but gods? He wasn't religious, his mom forcing him to go to church once or twice, but he still couldn't imagine a person walking up to him and saying, 'Hey I'm God, you know the guy everyone thinks made the world?'. That couldn't happen. It must just be some name, and Nari was the spirit of life, right? But then again, there was a difference between a spirit and a god.
"Once the trolls are all gone. Once the wizards, sorceress's and Seer are gone, the humans will be simple. Of course, those Aliens could be a problem but we've managed to defeat Gunmar, horrid bastard."
"Defeat..." none of what it said made sense. How could they have helped defeat Gunmar? And that brought the question, who was this? The past few hours before he'd been knocked out were a blur. In under an hour, he and Toby were exploring the dungeon while Blinky investigated the three children's existence and how they were so human. Of course, nothing was found, but the curious teen went to investigate the slain Yvonna's cell. Peering in, he felt something injected into his chest. The venom spread instantly, causing him to blackout. How long he'd been asleep, he had no clue. All he knew was he hadn't rested for a moment."What do you want with me," he said through gritted teeth."You could've left me there to die. W-why, bring me?"
The Changeling grinned demonically, pausing its prideful steps."As I said to get close, the others must trust me. Of course, you had to be the one to die though it is enjoyable to watch the great TrollHunter, slowly dying at my feet."
"Wh..." he paused, already shut eyes closing harder as he felt the venom spreading, the pain growing. It was like it had grown arms and started pulling on his inner organs, rearranging them."What do you mean, I had to be the one?"
"Why James," it said, voice changing from a horrid hiss to a more normal young adult voice. The Changeling, now human, knelt down, lifting the TrollHunter's head up. Jim struggled, but his eyes finally opened. He found he was in a dark cave and could hear the light sound of heavy footsteps from outside. The air was damp so he assumed they were underground, possibly farther down than Troll Market was. But that wasn't the first thing he noticed. The first thing he noticed was two piercing blue eyes staring back at him."I thought you'd recognize me."
"Lindsay?" he questioned, eyes widening before shutting as his body spasmed again.
Rolling her eyes and releasing a sigh, Lindsay let go of his head. Shoulder's and neck entirely unresponsive, his head fell straight to the ground, hitting with enough strength to guarantee a bruise."Pitiful name, though I have had worse. But I did like being called doctor and the profession made getting these much easier." she said, holding in her hand a needle that they used at the hospital to sedate people."Then again, injecting you myself would be much more painful for you but alas, watching you slowly die will be entertainment enough."
The Trollhunter was frozen, staring up at his sister, or what he thought was his sister. But all he saw was a demon, someone seeking revenge. And to what extent she'd go to find it, he didn't know."Lindsay... why... how are you?"
"Oh James," she cooed as if she were speaking to a child. In her hands, she still held the needle. Inside of which was a thick clear liquid he feared his body was now infested with. Smirking at the realization of his coming death, Lindsay laced her hands behind her back, clicking her heels as she walked around him."I thought you'd be smarter. Do some simple research before trying to find your 'long lost sister' and I quote, probably in the hope it would heal your little broken heart. Oh, James, you won't admit it but it's so clear you're weak. Not because of our humanity though that does play a role, but from what I can tell, the absence of your father, if you call him that, has hurt you more." she paused, cackling like the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz."But I guess stupidity runs in the bloodline."
"What are you talking about," he asked, ignoring what she'd said of his father. Until recently, when his father paid him an unwelcomed visit and his conversation with Toby on his wedding day, he hadn't realized how much a missing father figure had affected him. It wasn't that he didn't toughen him up, didn't teach him to play soccer, and tell him how to talk to girls(Toby did enough of that). No, he just didn't have a childhood. From the day after his fifth birthday, the day following his father's leaving, nothing had been the same. He'd been home alone or babysat almost all the time and when his mom was around she was studying, sleeping, cleaning, or telling him to do his homework. And even after she became a doctor and he was only 9, he was alone even more of the time, relying on friends and his own mind for entertainment. Then of course, at 15 he was declared the Trollhunter, a job he'd have until he died. On top of that, when life was somewhat normal and he was happy to get some time to be a teen before adulthood, he became a father. Maybe if he'd had a dad, he would've had more of a childhood.
"What am I talking about? Oh, James you really are dumb. Did you not look up anything on Lindsay Grocer before our conversations at the hospital." she asked, leaning forward, hands pressed against her knees.
"I didn't..." he began, questioning everything he'd thought. What was she talking about, by looking up? Why would he google something when he clearly knew she was his sister? Just look at them! Both had identical black hair that was straight and piercing blue eyes. They were clearly siblings, unless...
"Well," she began, voice still mocking as she stood again. Pacing again, she tossed the photo his father had given him onto the ground before him."Lindsay Jane Grocer. Or born as Lindsay Jane Lake. Adopted by two loving parents when she was five but of course, when she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, they placed her back in the system. For years, she jumped from home to home, receiving zero love. That was until she met a certain guy who claimed he 'loved her', hah, what a fool. Mitchelle was his name and he was just as broke as her but took her longing for love to his advantage. Telling her that love was something to be earned. Of course, she was desperate and did anything for his love. That included pleasing his horny teenage wants. Oh, Lindsay. 15-year-old Lindsay, love-struck, unloved and knocked up. Too scared to tell her current foster parents, she ran to Mitchelle who pretended to not know her. His arms all over another girl. One he said was smarter and would be better in bed than she ever would be. Greif consuming her, feeling like something was wrong with her since no one loved her, you know what she did James?" she asked, pausing for a moment, receiving no reply as Jim found he could no longer feel his legs. But through the writhing pain, he listened closely to the story."She killed herself. 4 months at the time, she jumped from a bridge. But the saddest part was no one looked. No one found her body. The poor thing. Unloved. Perhaps if she hadn't been so burdened then she would've lived. Would've been loved and had a child of her own. But that is the burden descents of Seers share."
Though overcome with grief listening to the true horror story of his big sister's life, Jim grew confused, replaying the last line Lindsay, or whatever her name was, had said."Descents?"
"Maybe you are smart," the Changeling theorized, but shook her head, black hair fraying."I find it strange that you humans don't learn about your pasts or heritage. It can be a powerful thing, even something as simple as a family member could explain everything."
"What the hell are you talking about?" he breathed heavily trying to sight the horrid pain rising in his chest. His esophagus burned with every breath and below the knees, he was numb, unable to feel a thing. It was a tingling sensation and could feel it climbing up his proclaimed, skinny legs.
She sighed, disappointment mingling with amusement."You really do disappoint me Trollhunter. I'd think when you became aware your daughter was of Seer bloodline you would've investigated a little, but of course, you didn't."
"Seer Bloodline?" he gasped, venom climbing up his throat.
"Let me guess. You assumed your daughter's future sight came from the poor wife of yours?" she asked, confusing the teenager even more." Of course you didn't," she said with true disappointment in her voice."Well, why don't we have a small history lesson Trollhunter? Seers are not just magical creators. Seers fall from a specific bloodline that passes down. Now one can become a Seer by intermingling with dark magics, as Seers of the past did, which caused their population to grow. The downfall came when Author Penn Dragon took the throne, outlawing almost all magical beings. Much like we are called, Seers were marked as Impure since unlike us, they were typically born human, either cursed with the burden or receiving it from a parent. Now a few Seers survived but these Seers, instead of hiding, chose to try and rid of their gift, using dark magics to free themselves of the magic. this tampered with the essence of Seer magic, making it faulty and not work most of the time, skip generations if you will. It isn't an ability that can be born from magic, as your wife possesses. No, it has to be given through blood or a curse. And from what I've perceived, blood is the answer."
"Bloo..." his own words disappeared, processing what she'd said. Was he a Seer? Or at least had Seer blood? If so, did that mean Lindsay, his real sister, hadn't been crazy, just experiencing visions? That would mean his father had given him it, through blood. And he'd given it to Cassidy through blood. He'd given her the burden, not Claire like they'd always thought."What are you going to do to me?" he asked, unsure why she'd tell him this if she didn't have a purpose.
The woman laughed, wiping a sharpened dagger clean of blood."You have nothing to worry about James. All we need is your blood."
"But you said the venom...?" he began, silencing as she pulled him off the ground by his hair. The follicles stretched, tugging at his skull. The pain was imaginable, but broke when she let go, letting his head hit the ground again."You're a bitch," he muttered, loud enough she'd hear. If he was going to die at her hands, he'd let her know what he thought of her.
But the woman just chortled again, eyes glowing a bright yellow when they opened."I have a name, James."
"You think I care?" he asked, letting his anger show as he wept on the inside. He didn't want to die. He really didn't. He had a wife, two daughters, so much more to do. He wanted to walk them both to school, walk them down the aisle. Grow old and celebrate his first wedding anniversary with Claire.
"No," she said, setting a bloodied rag down on a carved stone table, on which sat multiple needles, a vile with the same clear thick venom and rope."But you are correct to mention the venom because yes, soon all your blood will be replaced with venom but your heart is still fighting it. At now, it is pumping more blood than ever giving us the perfect opportunity."
"You said it skips a generation," he reminded, praying she'd notice a fault in her plan and release him. But of course, that wouldn't happen.
"It does, but that doesn't mean it's not present. You possess origins of Seer blood, but sadly most of which is tampered therefore you can't use any of it." she said, injecting him with more of the numbing and deadly venom."But that doesn't mean we can't use it."
Unlike the other parts she'd injected,d this round took effect immediately, his right arm became limp and moving uncontrollably." What, are you going to do...?" he asked, panting as his eyelids grew heavy and he longed for sleep.
She grinned, sitting down before him, so he could look into the eyes that belonged to his dead sister."The same as we did with your sister's blood. She sadly didn't give us enough having been dead for a few days, fresh blood works best. But with yours and soon your daughter's we'll have enough to glance into the future and see just what we must do to win. How fun it'll be to finally eliminate you true Impure's forever. Then the world will be cleaner. And once humans are gone, the Order of Protogonus will reign and all will be right again."
"You won't... get away with this, Impure," he cursed, as his body began to shut down. His body fell limp and the anger boiled down. His eyes began to shut, a motion he tried to fight but was failing. As they began to close the changeling lifted his head, so he could see nothing but his sister's eyes.
"Impure? What a vile name." she hissed, eyes switching from blue to their natural yellow."I preferred to be called by my real name, Ymir."
Reviews and Critiques are Welcome.
In Greek Mythology, Phanes or Protogonus is known to be the creator of life(though there could possibly be others but the internet varies between). The show seems to take from Greek mythology with the movie being titled, Rise of the Titans, so I will be pulling from greek mythology here and there. Ymir(Lindays's name) holds no value, just that I'm an Attack on Titans fan and am anticipating learn more of Ymir.
