"Amelia wait."

Olivia turned the volume up on her phone. She could barely hear the nurse. Karen was crying, and Fitz was wearing his headphones trying to study.

"Goodnight Moon." Amelia whined.

Olivia walked to the kitchen and covered her other ear to hear the nurse over the noise. It was still their first day back in DC. The nanny was starting next week. Olivia showed Amelia her snacks, and she let her know that her snacks had to stay in a separate cabinet.

"Can you repeat that?"

"Maya Pope is a patient at this hospital. You're listed as her emergency contact. She's not responding to anything, so we had to call you."

"What do you mean? Is she okay? I know she has been complaining about stomach pain for a few weeks."

"She was pregnant."

"What?!"

"She delivered two premature babies today. They are 28 weeks."

"Is this a prank call?"

"No ma'am. Two girls. Two pounds."

"My mom wasn't pregnant."

"Can you come to the hospital and talk to her?"

"You are serious?"

"Maya is okay physically, but she hasn't said anything since the delivery. Staring at the wall. That's it."

"How is this possible? Isn't she going through menopause?"

"She's 47. Many people don't have periods every month at her age. Surprise pregnancies are common."

"Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes."

"How is this possible? Maya wasn't even in a relationship."

"Read Goodnight Moon." Amelia whined.

"I know you're sleepy. Fitz has to read the book to you. I have to go somewhere for a few minutes."

Olivia walked back in the living room and pulled the headphones off Fitz head getting his attention.

"I have to go to the hospital to check on my mom."

"Is she okay?"

"A nurse called me. The stomach pain was pregnancy."

"You're mom is pregnant?!"

"The babies are in the NICU. I'll call you when I have more information."

"You are not serious."

"I wish this was a prank. It's not." Olivia said, grabbing her purse and coat.
