The Fate of the First Hero of Light
"Please be careful! He is not someone to be underestimated." "Baby don't worry I have never lost even once in my life. He will be begging for me to stop."
"FIEND YOU DARE SPEAK TO THE QUEEN LIKE THAT!" screams the Knight he is furious.
"Enough Sir Hunfrey!"
"BUT YOUR MAJESTY!"
"This is no time for formalities. We will use each and every means to get ourselves out of this disaster!"
"Yeah Baby trust me!" He winks to the desperate Queen.
The man enters the board room.
Not even short moments later...
"STOP NOOOO! STAY AWAY FROM MEEEE! AIEEEEEEEEEE!" the doors are flung open.
The negotiations pro's black hair is now totally white. He looks as if he has aged at least 20 suncycles.
"THEY'RE IN MY MIND!" He pulls at his hair and looks frantically about. He sees a broken window, he runs and leaps from the 11th floor of the building to his death.
"Sir Hunfrey how many has that been?" "THAT WAS THE 10TH EXPERT!"
Zelda sighs deeply.
"YOUR MAJESTY!"
"Sir Hunfrey as the Queen this has been the worst disaster I have been forced to deal with."
"IS IT REALLY THAT DIRE YOUR MAJESTY?"
"If we cannot renegotiate our terms correctly. The growth of our nation will be severely curtailed."
"GEIR THE FIEND!"
"Sir Hunfrey it is not his fault."
"YOUR MAJESTY!"
"He smelled blood and went for the kill. If Roland had not been so vain, this disaster would not exist!"
"THE KING..." the Knight stares sadly at the floor.
"Sir Hunfrey I know you had been friends even since young. I apologize."
"NO, YOUR MAJESTY I DID NOT MEAN..."
"Sir Hunfrey..."
"Zelda how are things?" Esdeath walks locked in arms with the Fire Mage.
Zelda is thinking "This is the absolute worst! Now that Sir Izdryn and Teela are romancing I cannot let my weakness be shown or she might signal to Geir!"
"TEELA! EVERYTHING IS GOING SMOOTHLY! I EXPECT VICTORY VERY SOON!"
"I see those bodies outside the building. Did they face the Dwarven negotiators?"
Zelda bursts into tears.
"Please Teela help me!"
"What is the matter?"
She hands Esdeath a copy of the contracts. Esdeath reads up till the fourth page, she almost faints.
"UNBELIEVABLE!"
"I know it is terrible!"
"I will have to have a stern talking to Geir!"
"PLEASE DO!"
"That he was so merciful! I cannot believe it! I raised him better than that!"
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!"
"These contracts bind your nation to many others."
"How is that a good thing?"
"It would never even be possible for you to do business with them. He gave you a lot of opportunities to grow. That you must pay these exorbitant amounts is commission he is owed."
"Commission?"
"He had to fight tooth and nail to secure these business deals. He will never give something for free when it comes to business. He would never bankrupt the country, he once led."
"Still these fees are to much! What should I do?"
"Hire better experts."
Zelda starts crying.
"I have already been doing that. I have already lost so much money!"
"You are hiring Hume's. It takes a Dwarf to beat another Dwarf."
"Teela! Of course! Sir Hunfrey!"
"YOUR MAJESTY!"
"Send the rest of the negotiation teams to stall them, till I can hire some Dwarven experts."
"YES, I UNDERSTAND!"
The Queen rushes down the stairs and runs towards the Dwarven Realm.
She reaches the Massive Gates
"Great Father Thotoc!" "Queen Zelda how are you?.." "Forgive me my rudeness. Can you please tell me where Great Father Thandall is!" "Yes, let us go."
She enters the office at the Deepstand Mining company. "Great Father Thandall!" "Yes, little Lassie." "Please show me where I can hire the best Dwarven Lawyers! It is an emergency!" "I understand let me take you!"
They enter the Justice Hall. "Inside here Zelda but remember they don't come cheap." "To escape the God of Schemes clutches no price is too much!"
"Hahahahahahahaha!" the Dwarven Warrior lets out a hearty laugh.
"Thank you Great Father. I have to go."
The Dwarf nod and turns around.
She runs inside to the counter.
"Please I would like to hire the best Lawyers you have!"
The bored looking female Dwarf signals to a row of seats many people are seated there. They have strips of papers with numbers on them. "Please take a number. We will call you when a consultant is available." "Please my negotiations will end on the next day. It is an emergency!" "These are the rules. I am sorry."
Zelda runs and takes a ticket she is standing pacing up and down.
"We will now be serving number 304! Come forwards please!"
Zelda grabs her ticket and prays in her heart. She looks at her ticket 204."
"NOOOOOO!" They will be closed before she can be helped.
Her mind is lost there are so many things that she has to worry about. Suddenly it strikes her. What would Geir have done!
She instantly understands. She runs towards the receptionist.
I am sorry miss, I already told you to wait." Zelda shows her the paper while holding something underneath it. "I see we can make an exception in this case. Please hand me your ticket. Please go sit down you will be helped very shortly." Zelda closes her purse.
Memories of times past...
'Money can defeat even the mightiest of Dwarf." "Geir what does that mean?" "Zelda when one day you have your back against the wall, remember that phrase."
Back to times present, short moments had past...
"The young lady who is expecting a child please come through. We ask for the others to think of her well being. Please be patient."
Zelda wants to run but stops and acts as if she very ill. Walking slowly and touching her back groaning.
She is led into a cubicle. There is a giant Dwarf the whole cubicle is almost filled with his massive muscular figure. He glares at Zelda. She is so intimidated, she is shaking. Suddenly his face softens and he shows a bright smile. "How can I help you miss!"
Not even short moments while she is explaining...
The Dwarf falls over the cubicle collapses around her.
"GREAT FATHER GEIR IS NEGOTIATING WITH YOU!"
Every Dwarf stops working and stands up. Even some of the patrons run closer to hear what is going on. The doors are shut and everyone assembles in the lobby.
Zelda tearfully explains what happened. The Dwarfs look sadly at her. They shake their heads side to side.
"I am sorry little lady if it is Great Father Geir nothing can be done."
"NO, PLEASE HELP ME!"
"I am sorry miss. No one here is crazy enough to face the God of Schemes." "Yes, nothing can be done..."
Zelda starts sobbing.
"What will happen to my people."
"DO NOT WORRY YOUNG ONE! I have returned. What is the matter?"
She looks towards the Dwarf he looks just like Great Father Thandall!
"Great Father Thandall are you a lawyer as well!"
"THANDALL? I AM HOKKOUN!"
"Forgive me you look so alike."
"Thandall is my brother."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!"
"Forget about that little lady. Tell me what is the matter?"
Zelda explains the situation. He is handed the agreements.
"I see this looks like the work of a Dwarven Warrior. You say he is a Hume?"
"He was adopted as a Dwarf."
"That he could know of that obscure law. He is a master tactician. Hmmmmm..." The Dwarf is studying the papers he unbinds them. They lay neatly arranged on the floor. He examines each one carefully."
"Fetch me the latest dictionary!"
"Yes, Great Father!"
The secretary runs.
He opens it and studies each word.
"I see only the contracts that bind him have spelling mistakes in. He also chose the right words to make mistakes on."
"What do you mean Great Father?"
"If the agreement no longer benefits him. He will take the parties to court and point out the spelling mistakes that were made and try to invalidate the contract. While the contracts that bind others to him are written so tightly. There is no way to discredit their legibility."
"Can we still do anything?"
"He has been very merciful in this contract. If I had been there. Your losses would be many times worse."
Zelda starts crying again.
"I want it to go back to how it was, please help me!"
"Do not worry little girl. I will STAND by you! Because they call me Great Father Deepstand!"
Everyone cringes.
The next day...
Zelda is sitting on the negotiation table. Next to her is the Dwarven Lawyer. He is cowering in fear of the bespectacled figure of the God of Schemes staring at him.
Zelda looks at him she is so furious she stands on her table.
"WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER THESE FOOLS?!"
"I WILL SHOW THEM HOW IT IS DONE!"
"Little girl let us fall back for now..."
"BE QUIET! GEIR THESE ARE MY DEMANDS!"
She screams throwing words around.
"THAT IS WHAT I WANT! THAT SEEMS THE BE REASONABLE AND FAIR!"
Geir turns around in his chair and stands up holding his hands behind his back.
"I see...that would be fair. But what about my demands and what I want!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN GEIR!"
"Why is it only fair that you get to make your demands or get what you want."
"Why do I not get to make my demands or not get what I want?"
"THIS CONTRACT IS!"
"That contract only benefits your country. What about my country?"
"GEIR THESE FEES!"
"They are businesses I had to forge in fire with my blood and sweat. Do you expect me to work for free. Where is the business that you brought for me?"
"..."
"Zelda in these times of strife, I have been working constantly focusing only on your country."
"While mine has been ravaged by unscrupulous traders, each time they struck more and more rupees were lost."
Zelda starts staring at the floor.
"While your country only grew stronger each day. I will ask you again where is the business that you brought for me?"
"..."
Geir walks to the window and stares into the distance. There are massive birds battling each other outside high in the sky.
"Zelda you strive for your business and I strive for mine."
"We are both just two ordinary leaders, who have been driven to seek business, in the search for money. When people search business in the search for money, more business will be formed. While that will only lead to a further increase in money and trigger a viscous cycle of paperwork."
"Right now we live in such a cycle."
"Zelda I know the past and can foretell the future, it is the same as our history. So we believe some contracts and agreements cannot ever be understood together and they never will!"
"The Kingdom, Dwarven Realm and Tulok Lands are ruled by business and business alone."
"So Zelda how would you confront this business proposal in order to create fairness for all.
I want to know what your answer is?"
"I don't know...
I don't have an answer" says the flabbergasted Queen.
"I see well it seems we are finished then."
Geir moves to exit the room.
"WAIT! GEIR WE ARE NOT FINISHED!"
"Oh, do you have an answer? Did you move beyond further business?"
"YES! LISTEN TO THIS!"
Zelda talks long times...
"I understand."
Geir signals to the others, the Dwarfs come together they whisper.
The Dwarfs take her papers and they are ripped up.
Geir and the others leave.
"YOUR MAJESTY WHAT HAPPENED!"
Zelda puts her hand to her head and collapses.
"YOUR MAJESTY!"
She is taken outside.
"Zelda tell what did you do?" asks Esdeath.
"Well I told him that I will..."
Finish.
