Holding a hand over his eyes to block the water, Kagome carefully sent a small stream of it through the section of hair she held, humming to herself as she picked out pieces of berry and crust. "I really am sorry this happened," she said, even as she smiled at the thought. She would never forget the look on her mother's face as Sesshoumaru had dropped a piece of pie on her head.
"It is of no consequence," he said after a few minutes, he too thinking about the food fight. Now they stood in the small bathroom in her old bedroom as she painstakingly picked food out of his hair. Had he been a different person, he would have smiled at the inanity of it all. As it was, he still suppressed the smirk. Her hands were gentle as they moved through his hair and he fought to ignore the feelings they brought to the surface.
Chuckling a little, she shook her head. "Mama is going to kill me when everything is said and done. I'll have to paint the dining room too," she murmured as she pulled gently at a particularly tenacious piece of purple goo.
Glancing up at her while she was busy rummaging through his hair, Sesshoumaru watched her. Her clothing from the meal lay in a heap by the toilet and she was left in a camisole and lounging pants. She did not look the least part concerned about her possible murder, which led him to the conclusion that the elder Higurashi would not in fact, harm her. He could even hear her downstairs, laughing with Kikyo as the two women went about cleaning the kitchen. Impassively, he said, "This one will help."
"Help what," she murmured, clearly distracted as she worked out another berry. Then she met his gaze and flushed, realizing just how close she was to him, and cleared her throat. "Right. Paint. Sorry," she muttered, even as she paused for a moment to study him in return. His clothing was a mess, his jacket ruined and on the floor with her other clothing. His shirt was unbuttoned and pale flesh flashed through the open lines, giving her a glimpse of a body she thought she'd never see again.
