A/N: Apparently I'm on a roll with this story. I have ideas for the next several chapters, so I guess I'll be writing this one for a while. I don't own any of the characters except my own.
During the next week, Antonio had contacted Hank and told him that they were having Al's party on the 8th. Hank made arrangements for himself, Olivia and Erin, Diana made the arrangements for herself, Ed and Kara and Fin, Amanda and Sonny did theirs as well. Hank had also changed his and Olivia's flight to Honolulu from Chicago instead of New York. Olive and Trevor were heading to Indianapolis and Denise was taking Olive's kids. Lucy agreed to stay with Noah, Rachel and Camille from Friday when they left until Sunday when Erin got back. Olivia and Hank had discussed giving Lucy a larger Christmas bonus than usual for everything she had taken on that year.
They were leaving for Chicago as soon as Kara got out of school and she had a half day anyway. Hank, Erin and Ed were going to pick her up and then meet everyone else at the airport. They arrived at school and then Kara came out. She got into Ed's SUV.
"Hi Daddy. Hi Uncle Hank. Hi Erin."
"Hey, kiddo. How was your day?"
"It was ok."
They saw Kelly come out and then they waved to her as she got into Erin's vehicle. Ed drove to the airport and then parked the SUV. Olivia had just gotten there with Diana, Fin, Amanda and Sonny as well.
"Hey, Honey."
"Hey, Babe."
Hank kissed Olivia and Diana kissed both Ed and Kara.
"Erin, if you want, you can take my SUV home. We'll just need to have someone pick us up when we get back."
"Ok. I am going to miss Camille so much. I spent most of the morning doing bottles for her and then I had to nurse her before I left."
"I video chatted with Noah and Rachel before I left the Precinct. A part of me feels guilty about leaving them."
"Don't start with that."
"I know we need this time together but should we have brought them for Al's party?"
"No. They'll be fine. I told them we'd miss them but they understand that we need some time alone."
They walked into the Terminal and got checked in. They went through security and then headed to the gate.
"Mom."
"Yes."
"We have a Social Studies project due after Christmas break. Kelly and I are working together on it."
"What's it on?"
"9/11. We have to talk about the first responders and the effect it had on them. I got the Police Department and Kelly got the Fire Department."
"Talk to your dad or your aunt about that. They were there."
"Chief Boden was one of 100-some firefighters from Chicago that came out here to help in the recovery efforts. Even though Kelly got the Fire Department, you may want to ask him about it."
"I will. Thanks, Uncle Hank."
"What do you need to know?"
"Here's what we have can do."
Kara showed Ed the paper.
"Did you know any of the police officers that were killed?"
"I probably did."
"He probably investigated them."
Ed gave Olivia a look.
"You're so funny."
"Thank you."
"That wasn't a compliment."
"Would both of you come in and talk about what you remember about it and how it affected you personally?"
"Sure."
"I will too."
"I was there too, so I'll talk."
"Thanks, Fin."
"No problem."
As they waited for their flight, Kara did her homework. A couple hours later, they boarded the plane and waited for it to take off. Once the plane took off, Olivia, Diana, Amanda and Erin all fell asleep. Fin ended up falling asleep as well and Kara continued working on her homework.
"You tired, kiddo?"
"A little bit but I think Mom is really tired."
"I know the feeling. That job can be exhausting."
"Being a cop in general is exhausting."
"That's true. I don't miss it."
"Me neither. Did you prefer the desk job or being out in the field?"
"Honestly, the desk job but I had to show up whenever something happened. Diana had that the other night. One of the Patrol officers was involved in a shooting, so she had to go find out what happened."
"I hate when Olivia gets calls in the middle of the night."
"I used to hate that myself when I was with her and when I was with Hostage Negotiation. The one advantage to being with IAB is that you know when any unit gets a call at any hour. I just worry about Diana. I know how I was with that job and I was one of the most hated cops in the NYPD. I don't want to see that happening with her."
"Fortunately, she knows how to take care of herself. Her biggest fear was something happening to her and not having anyone to take care of her kid."
"Olivia was the same way. As much as I love Noah, I wouldn't have known the first thing about taking care of him full-time. It's much easier with Kara but I'm still trying to get used to this parent stuff. I seem to be more comfortable with Noah now than I was with I was with Olivia. How do you make it look so easy with both him and Rachel?"
"Justin was not an easy kid to deal with once he became a teenager. Kara still has a couple years for that yet. You get to deal with the monthly female stuff, which is something I never dealt with with Erin until she came to live with Camille and me."
"I grew up with sisters. I also had to deal with it with Olivia for a while and with Diana, so that's not totally new to me."
"The best thing is you get to interrogate her boyfriends. Erin has dated some real jerks. She dated Severide and I liked him. Jay has really grown on me. He's proven himself and so far, he's a good dad."
"How do you know if a guy is right for your daughter?"
"You'll know. You're a good judge of character. Treat any prospective boyfriends like you would one of the cops you're investigating and interrogate them."
"I like that."
"Don't tell him that, Uncle Hank! I'll never have a boyfriend if he does that."
"That's the point."
Both Hank and Ed started laughing and Kara rolled her eyes.
"Did she just roll her eyes at me?"
"Welcome to the club. My 32-year old rolls her eyes at me all the time. You'll have many more years of that."
"You still have that to look forward to with Rachel."
"Yep. She's going to be trouble."
Hank and Ed continued talking and then by the time the plane was making its descent into Chicago, everyone was awake. By the time the plane landed, they got off the plane and went to get their luggage. Then they went to get their rentals. Hank and Olivia were staying at the house with Jay and Erin, so the 3 of them headed to the house, while everyone else went to the hotel to get checked in. Then they all met at the District and went in.
"Hey, it's good to see all of you."
"You too."
Everyone headed up the stairs and Trudy buzzed them in, so they could continue the rest of the way up to Intelligence.
"Bunch of slackers!"
"Hey!"
Jay got up and gave Erin and hug and a kiss.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too."
Then Jay gave both Hank and Olivia a hug.
"Where are you staying?"
"We decided to stay at the house. It's just for the night."
"Ok. How's our girl?"
"She's doing great. She's been sleeping better."
"Good. Diana, how long are you staying?"
"Sunday. Kara wanted to see some of her friends, while we were here."
Then Al came in.
"Hey, Al."
"Hey. I had to go to do all my paperwork."
"I remember that. It doesn't seem like it's been a year for me."
"It does not."
"Have you heard when your closing is yet?"
"Not until after the first of the year. We already have our house on the market."
"At least you don't have to be here for that one."
"Yeah, that's a good thing. Where are you and Olivia staying?"
"At Erin and Jay's. It's just for the night anyway. We need to be at the airport for an early flight."
"It's a long flight too, isn't it?"
"Yep. 9½ hours. The flight to Paris was shorter."
"It sure was and we had the kids with us then."
Everyone finished up their day and then Al went home to get Meredith. Everyone then headed over to Molly's for the party.
"Congratulations, Al!"
"Thanks, everyone. Honestly, I can't wait for it to be over with. Meredith and I are lookin' forward to the next chapter in our lives and that is movin' to New York."
"Nice."
"Can you imagine the trouble the 3 of them are going to get into together?"
"I know, right?"
"Oh, I agree."
Diana, Olivia and Meredith laughed at their husbands, while Ed, Hank and Al shook their heads at their wives. They found out what everyone wanted to drink. Atwater and Ruzek went to get the pizzas and appetizers and came back. Everyone got some food. Trudy came over to where Hank and Olivia were.
"I'll miss you too Al. It won't be the same without you."
"Maybe you and Mouch should consider retiring and move to New York."
"That'll be the day. I don't think he's ever going to retire. Besides, someone has to keep an eye on the children in Intelligence."
"That's true."
"Olivia, I didn't tell you what Hank told Ed."
"About treating prospective boyfriends like he would any cops he investigated and interrogate them?"
"Yeah."
"Hank told us that on the way to the house. Erin and I got a good laugh out of that one."
"I did too but Kara didn't think it was so funny."
"It's true though."
"Yeah, it is."
"I can't imagine Voight ever liking any of Erin's boyfriends."
"I liked Severide and I grew to like Jay. He's really proven himself and he's a great dad."
"Thanks."
"No problem."
"Jay, there's an opening in ESU."
"The ones that were at the park that time?"
"Yes. I told them I knew of someone from Chicago that might be interested in the position."
"I'm definitely interested. I think Erin is set on moving to New York."
"I am."
"Are you going back to work or deciding not to?"
"I want to keep working. I think a lot of it depended on what Olive was going to do. I didn't want to put too much on Lucy. I know Dad's around and Ed is there more than he isn't but 6 kids, 7 counting Camille, is a lot."
"They've handled it even with Noah being in Preschool. I know how crazy the kids are but Lucy has not threatened to quit. At least yet anyway. Olive said the move won't be official until after the first of the year and Hank and I will have the kids when she and Trevor go to the Hamptons New Year's Eve. For the most part, I think Dan and Nicole will be watching them and then Denise, since Olive wants her to spend more time with them too, which is basically why they're staying with her this weekend. She said they'll be over on weekends, so we can see them then."
"If you weren't gone, would you have had them?"
"Probably."
"Do you think Olive is going to end up marrying Trevor?"
"I think she will."
"Me too. I'm expecting there to be a little Langan before long."
"I wouldn't be surprised with the way they were going at it the other night."
"Have you heard your wife recently?"
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I have."
"He knows what I like."
Hank and Olivia smirked at each other and then Hank put his arm around her before kissing her cheek.
"Damn, Liv! Too much information!"
Olivia and Amanda both rolled their eyes at Fin and everyone else at the table laughed.
"Mom, I'm going to go talk to Chief Boden."
"Ok."
Kara got up and went to talk to Wallace.
"Hey, Chief."
"Hey, kiddo. What's goin' on?"
"We have a project we're working on in Social Studies about 9/11 and my cousin Kelly and I have to talk about the FDNY and NYPD and how it affected them. My dad, Aunt Olivia and Fin said they would come talk to the class. Kelly has to do hers on the FDNY but Uncle Hank said you went to New York to help. Would you at least talk to her about how it affected you? I could have her send you some questions that you can answer or something."
"Of course. I would love to help. Hank or your mom should have my email."
"Great. Thank you so much."
"You are very welcome."
Kara hugged Wallace and went back over to her table.
"He said he'd help."
"Good."
"He said you or Uncle Hank should have his email."
"I do."
"Me too."
Kara texted Kelly and told her that someone she knows from the Chicago Fire Department had gone to New York to help out with the recovery from 9/11 and would help them. She told her she would get her his email when she got back. Kelly replied back that she was glad for that.
"What is your project on?"
"9/11. We had to partner up with someone and then we got assigned our topics from there. I think I got the NYPD on purpose though."
"Bridget's husband works for the FDNY and Patty's husband just retired from the FDNY, so Kelly knows to ask them."
"If there is anything any of the rest of us can do, let us know."
"I will. Thanks."
"Have you kept in touch with anyone you grew up with?"
"Yeah. I've known Jack, Patty's husband since we were kids. He's my age and Patty had a crush on him for as long as I can remember. They started dating in high school and have been together ever since. They got married when she was 21. They're married 32 years this year and my oldest niece and goddaughter turned 30. Patty got pregnant on their first anniversary."
"Is your niece married?"
"I have no idea about that. She and Patty had a falling over a decade ago. She moved here to Chicago to attend Northwestern and she never came back to New York. No one hears from her as far as I know."
"Do you know what the fight was about?"
"Yeah. Patty wanted Shauna to work at the Pub but she didn't want to devote her entire life to it like her mother did. She wanted to do what she wanted to do. Maybe since we're here for a few days, I'll try to see if I can find her."
"Give us the info and we'll look it up."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Yeah."
"I know Patty regrets what happened and Mom misses her a lot."
"Do you have a photo of her?"
Ed pulled a picture out of his wallet.
"This was the last one I had of her."
He showed the picture to Diana.
"I know her. She's a cop with Vice."
Diana showed Hank.
"Shauna. She's a good kid."
"She's a Detective?"
"Yep."
"Wait, Shauna Walsh is your niece?"
"Yep. Babe, what do you know about her?"
"She's not married but she has a 5 year old son named Eddie."
"Do you know where she lives?"
"Yeah. She lives a few blocks from Erin and Jay."
"I helped her find the place and I did a lot for her when she moved in. She moved in before her son was born."
"I'm glad she had you lookin' out for her and helpin' her out. I need to see her."
"We can head there after we leave here. Let me text her and see if she's home first."
Diana texted Shauna to see if she was home. She told her she was in town and wanted to stop over to see her. She said she would be happy to have her stop over.
"Did you two get along?"
"Oh yeah. She took the Sergeant's exam around the time I took the Captain's exam. Apparently she's following in her uncle's footsteps."
"Someone had to, I guess."
Everyone finished dinner and then they had dessert before Al opened his gifts. Everyone started to leave. Hank and Olivia hugged Al before they left with Erin and Jay and went with Ed, Diana and Kara to Shauna's. When they arrived, Diana rang the bell. Ed stayed back, so she wouldn't see him right away. Shauna came to the door.
"Diana! It is so good to see you."
"You too."
"How's your new job?"
"It great."
"Wow, Kara, you have grown."
"Thank you."
"Hank, it's good to see you too. Are you enjoying your retirement?"
"I am. This is my wife Olivia."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"So, what brings you here?"
"We were in town for Al Olinsky's retirement party and I wanted to stop over. There is actually another reason."
Ed came up behind Diana.
"Uncle Ed!"
"Hey, kiddo."
"I have missed you so much!"
"I've missed you too."
Shauna hugged Ed.
"Come on in everyone."
Everyone came in and went into the living room.
"Your mom regrets everything that happened and your grandma misses you."
"I don't doubt Grandma misses me. What have you been up to besides getting blamed for stuff that Cousin Eugene did?"
"I got married 6 months ago and I retired around the same time. Apparently, you already know your aunt."
"Oh, no way! That is so awesome! Congratulations!"
"Thanks."
"How are things going in Vice?"
"Honestly, it hasn't really been the same since you left. I've been thinking about contacting Antonio to see if I could transfer to Intelligence but then a part of me has been thinking about going back to New York but not for Mom. I've been texting Dad and my siblings, so I do know Dad retired recently. Maybe it's time that Mom and I sat down and talked about things. They never gave you a hard time for doing what you wanted to do. Why was it so wrong for me to want to do my own thing? I do want my son to know his family."
"What's the story with that?"
"I met this guy in college and we both went into the Academy. We talked about getting married after we graduated from the Academy. We lived together and one day after I got home from my shift, he was gone. No note. Nothing. Not too long after that, I found out I was pregnant. It's been hard and there were many times that I wanted to go home but I couldn't bring myself to doing it because of what had happened with Mom. That'll go over real big. The oldest Tucker grandchild has a kid out of wedlock."
"They won't judge you for that. I'm sure you know Diana's situation."
"Yeah, I do."
"They've been really supportive of her and us. Kara and Kelly, your Aunt Erin's youngest, have become best friends. I didn't tell any of them about Diana and Kara until a month after we were married and they've welcomed them as part of the family. I was afraid of how they were going to treat me because of that thing with Cousin Eugene but they have all said he has always had issues and thought he could get away with it because he's a priest. Your mom told me recently that the one thing she wants more than anything is to have her little girl come home even if it's just for a visit."
"If you came back to New York, where would you want to work?"
"Either Vice or maybe something with sex crimes. I've been interested in doing more of that lately."
"Olivia is the Commanding Officer of the Special Victims Unit. Would you have room for another Detective if Erin transfers out there?"
"Oh, absolutely."
"Erin, you and Jay are talking about leaving Chicago?"
"Yep. I want to be where my family is and that's New York. Jay understands that and he's discussed it with Will."
"Where's your daughter?"
"I'm staying in New York until after Christmas, so she's with the nanny Mom and Dad have for their kids."
"When did you get married?"
"A year ago tomorrow. Olivia adopted a little boy, who's now 4 and I adopted him before we got married. We adopted a little girl, who's 3. She had the nanny for Noah and then she took on Olive's kids and later Rachel."
"How long were you two together?"
"We've been together about a year and a half."
"Are you going back to work?"
"That's one of the reasons I'm in New York. Meredith Olinsky has been staying with me since the baby was born and Dad went back to New York. The main problem is that the Olinskys are planning to move to New York, so finding someone to watch her would be a problem."
"I know how that goes. The wife of one of the guys I work with watches Eddie for me but it gets to be a pain if I have to go out in the middle of the night."
"That would be the thing for us too. If we're in New York, we're hoping to live with them temporarily until we can afford a place of our own."
"I know New York is expensive."
"You can stay with us. Is he in Kindergarten?"
"Preschool. He turned 5 in October. I was thinking about taking a couple weeks off for the Holidays anyway."
"I'd like to meet my namesake."
"He's watching a movie upstairs. Let me go get him."
Shauna went upstairs to get Eddie.
"I figured you wouldn't mind if she stayed with us."
"Not at all. I love your family. You know that."
Shauna came back downstairs.
"This is Eddie. Eddie, this is my Uncle Ed, who you're named after."
"Hey, there."
"Hi."
"It's Edward what?"
"Edward Jack. You're my favorite uncle and the one that inspired me to become a cop."
"Does your dad know about him?"
"He does."
"Good."
"Hank, I think we should get going. We need to get up early tomorrow."
"Yeah, you're right. We do."
"Which means we should get going too."
Hank and Olivia got up.
"Good to see you, kiddo."
"You too, Hank. It was nice meeting you, Olivia."
"You too."
"Have a great trip and they'll be fine."
"I know they will and thanks."
"Ed, keep an eye on the girls and kids for us."
"I will. Trevor will be there but if they need me, they know where to find me."
"Yes, we do."
"Happy birthday and Happy Anniversary."
"Thanks."
"Love you."
"Love you too."
Olivia and Hank hugged Diana, Ed and Kara and then they left with Erin and Jay.
"Olivia and Diana are half-sisters. We found that out after Diana came to New York."
"I did see a bit of a resemblance."
"Their family has become honorary Tuckers."
"That sounds like Grandma."
"Olivia and I were together for a few months last year and after we broke up, we remained friends. Hank and I have become good friends as well."
"Olivia got Hank through losing Justin."
"That whole situation sucked. I wouldn't have blamed Hank if he had killed that guy."
"I wouldn't have either honestly. I just wish I had met Olivia sooner. I had heard about her and I knew she had been here to work on cases with Hank but I never came to introduce myself. I almost did when she was here when they were looking for Yates. We found out we have the same father. Kara loves the fact that Hank is now really her uncle. Olivia and I have become pretty close as sisters."
"Olivia and I are happy with the way things turned out for us. We still cared for each other after we broke up and I'm happy she's my sister-in-law now."
"That's great. Do you want to go get ready for bed, Buddy?"
"Ok."
"I'll be up soon."
"I could read him his story tonight."
"Do you want Kara to read you your story tonight?
"Yeah!"
"Ok. Say goodnight."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
"Night, Mommy."
"Night, Sweetie."
Eddie put his hand out to shake Ed's, so Ed shook it but he hugged Diana, kissed Shauna and then he went upstairs.
"Sorry. We'll have to work on that."
"That's ok."
"How do you like being a dad?"
"I love it. She's a good kid."
"How many kids does Aunt Erin have?"
"Two."
"I think she had just had Connor when I left New York."
"He'll be 13 and Kelly will be 11. I think you were always the most like me."
"She looks a lot like you."
"KARA."
"COMING."
Kara went upstairs to read Eddie his story.
"I have often wished he was my dad instead of the parents I have. I was closer to Uncle Ed than I ever was to my mom. I'm glad you and Diana ended up together though. You were always so supportive of me when I was pregnant with Eddie and when I needed to find someone to watch him when I went back to work."
"If anyone understood what you were going through, I did. It was my choice to be a single mother."
"It hasn't been easy. That's for sure."
"Does his dad know about him at all?"
"Nope. After he left, he never took any of my calls and apparently had his number changed. I wanted to tell him but that wasn't something I just wanted to leave on his voicemail. Also, I didn't want him to try to take him from me either. I had a feeling there was someone else all along. He wasn't from this area and he always told me that he didn't get along with his parents. About a year before he left, he heard from his sister and said his grandma died, so he had to go to the funeral. I offered to go with him and he said no. I looked to see if I could find the death notice online and couldn't. After he left a year later, he had unfriended and blocked me on Facebook, so I know he's hiding something."
"Did you ever meet anyone in his family?"
"No but just recently, I Googled him and there was a death notice for the same grandma he said died several years before. Sure enough, he was listed with a spouse and I think there were like 3 kids. It was just him and his sister and she's married too."
"What an idiot!"
"I don't really care anyway."
"Is the house in his name?"
"No. I bought the house after he left because I knew I was going to need more room for the baby. Maybe I'll go back to New York with you and see how things go with Mom before I make any decisions as to whether or not I'm moving back there. If I do decide to go back there to live, I may wait until he's done with Preschool for the year."
"That makes sense. Like I said, you can stay with us until you find a place. We have a 5-bedroom house, so there is plenty of room."
"He's right. Our home is your home. It was hard for me to keep Kara here after I took the job in New York. I'm glad Erin and Jay let her stay with them. She wants to see her friends while she's here."
"When are you leaving?"
"Sunday. She had a half day of school today and has to be back by Monday."
"Maybe instead of going out there now, we'll come for Christmas. His last day of school is the 20th, so maybe I can get the time off then and we can come out there."
"Let me know when your flight is and I'll come pick you up."
"Ok. I'll text my Lieutenant now and see if I can get the time off."
Shauna texted her Lieutenant and requested her time off.
"So, if I decided to transfer to Special Victims, is it a problem that I'm a Sergeant?"
"Not at all. Olivia already has a Sergeant but he hates being in charge. Usually when Olivia is off, I will help out. She has a great squad though. If you and Eddie want to meet us for breakfast, we'll introduce you to most of them. Her newest Detective stayed in New York. If you transfer, you'll probably end up being Fin's new best friend."
"Is he the Sergeant?"
"Yes."
"When I suggested that Olivia take the Lieutenant's exam, I told her think about who she wanted as her #2. She asked Tutuola because he had seniority over Rollins and Carisi. He didn't want it and Amaro said he did but he probably wouldn't gotten promoted because he had too many strikes against him with IAB."
"Unlike my predecessor, I don't assume they're guilty until proven innocent."
"Is that how you two met?"
"No. We actually met through Hank and Olivia."
"I was out of IAB before I met Diana but no one took over after I transferred out. I transferred to Hostage Negotiation for a year before I retired."
"Ok."
"I'm a hands on person, as you know, so I love helping out with SVU whenever I'm needed. I like staying on everyone's good side and I can see why no one liked Ed."
"Thanks a lot. I love you too."
Ed crossed his arms and pouted. Diana and Shauna couldn't help but laugh. Then she kissed his cheek.
"You're so cute when you pout. I didn't mean it that way. I'm sorry. I love you."
"I love you too."
Kara came downstairs.
"He was a little wound up. He had to tell me about what he wanted for Christmas before he'd go to sleep."
"One of the things he wants is a daddy."
"I know that feeling. I'm glad I have one now."
Kara sat on Ed's lap and then put her arms around him.
"I love you, Daddy."
"I love you too."
"We should probably get going. I'll get a hold of Olivia's squad and set something up for breakfast. I'll let you know when and where to meet us."
"Ok."
Everyone hugged Shauna and then they left for the hotel. Shauna went to get ready for bed and went to watch TV in her bed before going to sleep. Once they got to the hotel Diana texted Fin and Amanda, while Kara got ready for bed. They both texted her back right away and agreed to it. Diana told them when and where they were meeting and then she texted Shauna. Kara got into bed and both Ed and Diana kissed her goodnight. Ed went to get ready for bed and then Diana did. They got into bed and kissed each other goodnight.
The next morning, Olivia had woken up before Hank. She kissed him to wake him up.
"Happy Anniversary, my love."
"Happy Anniversary to you too."
"Do we have time?"
Hank looked at his phone.
"Yep. Can you be quiet? I don't want to want Erin and Jay up."
"I'll try but it might be kind of hard."
Hank and Olivia started kissing and then they made love. Afterwards they were holding each other.
"Have I told you how much I love you lately?"
"I don't think you have."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
They started kissing again and then they got up to take a shower. By the time Hank and Olivia were out of the shower and got ready, Erin and Jay were up.
"Morning."
"Morning."
"Here's the key for my SUV if you decide to take it home. If not, then you can always go home with Ed and Diana and drive your dad's SUV."
"Ok. I'll let you know, since someone would have to pick you up anyway. If I leave it, does Dad have the other key?"
"Yes, he does and we will need someone to pick us up. We'll check in with Lucy and the kids while we're waiting for the flight."
"I've checked in with her a few times."
Hank shook his head and Jay rolled his eyes.
"We should probably go."
"Yes, we should."
They hugged Erin and Jay and then Hank grabbed their suitcases to take them out to the car. Olivia followed and they got into the car for the drive to the airport, while Erin and Jay went back to bed for a while. When Hank arrived at the airport, they returned the rental and went to the Terminal. They went to check in and then went through security before grabbing something for breakfast. After they ate breakfast, they headed to the gate to wait for the flight.
Fin, Amanda and Sonny were heading out to meet the Tuckers.
"Why do you suppose Captain Edwards and Tucker want to meet us for breakfast? What did you do, Carisi?"
"Why is it always me that had to do something?"
"I'm not gonna answer that."
Amanda rolled her eyes.
"I don't think any of us did anything. Maybe she wanted to check in with us before we go back to New York."
They arrived at the restaurant at the same time Ed, Diana and Kara and Shauna and Eddie did. They went in and got a table and sat down. Then they had their order taken.
"What's goin' on, Captain?"
"Nothing. We just wanted to introduce you to Ed's niece, Sergeant Shauna Walsh. She was in my unit here in Chicago."
"Shauna, this is Sergeant Odafin Tutuola, who goes by Fin, Detective Amanda Rollins and Detective Dominick Carisi, who goes by Sonny."
"Nice to meet all of you. This is my son, Eddie."
"Hey, little man."
"Hi."
"He's a cutie."
"Thank you."
"I have a 2-year old daughter named Jesse but she's with Sonny's parents."
"Eddie's dad left before I knew I was pregnant."
"That sucks."
"It really does. He was lying to me for at least a year."
Shauna told them what had happened.
"He's a dumb ass. Excuse my language."
"That's ok."
"After she told me that last night, I thought the same thing."
"Which sibling does this one belong too?"
"Patty, the next one down from me."
"Ok. I can't keep track of your family."
"I can't either sometimes, especially my siblings other than Erin."
"I'm the rebellious grandchild, who decided she didn't want to devote her entire life to working in her family's Pub. My mom couldn't understand that."
"It wasn't for me either but I have been spending a lot more time there these last 5 months."
"That has become one of our favorite places to eat and it's not that far from the Precinct."
"It's not that far from my office either."
"Jesse has even started callin' Colleen 'Grandma'."
"Ma loves that."
"I seem to have a better relationship with her than I do my own mother."
"Where are you from, Amanda?"
"Around Atlanta. I transferred to Manhattan SVU from Atlanta SVU maybe 6 years ago."
"Ok. I didn't want to ask this but is Hank's wife the one that was abducted by William Lewis a few years back?"
"Yes. She changed her last name from Benson to Voight when they got married."
"Legally I changed my last name to Tucker when we got married but I still go by Edwards at work."
"It doesn't scare us as much when we hear Captain Edwards is in the building versus when we hear that Captain Tucker is in the building. He arrested both Liv and me for murder."
Amanda told Shauna the story about when she was arrested for murder and Fin told her about when Olivia was arrested for murder and when she was investigated for killing William Lewis.
"Nice. I wouldn't like you either. Olivia later dated you because why?"
"People change and she supported me during that whole mess with Eugene. Olivia's squad was pretty supportive of me during that too."
"He was always a psycho from what I remember of him. He's exactly where he belongs."
"True."
Ed told Shauna what happened with Colin.
"Colin's sex life is no one's business but his. How's he doin' now?
"Better and now he said he can enjoy his senior year. Olivia's talk with the school after what had happened to the girl really helped a lot of those kids."
Their food arrived and they talked some more. Back at the airport, the flight to Honolulu was boarding. The got on the plane and waited for it to take off.
