The Battle of Magicians Part 2
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"I'm giving you a chance, Arkana, end this duel while you still can. My Dark Magician has already taken away more than half of your life-points, one more attack and the dark energy disc will send your mind right to the Shadow Realm." Yami said to Arkana who cackled with a grin.
"My mind? I don't think so. Now then Yugi, I promised you a spectacle and I never disappoint. Not only will I take your Dark Magician when I win, but I will also send you to mental oblivion." Arkana told Yami with a chuckle. "You clearly don't know a magician's first rule, always save the best trick for the finale. You should stop worrying about me and worry more about yourself and your friend over there. It's my show, remember I can't lose."
"I gave you a chance to end this now and save yourself, but you've left me with no choice. Prepare to lose it all Arkana." Yami told the man with a hint of regret in his voice.
"Come on Yami, you can do this." Daisuke thought, believing in her friend while also glaring at Arkana who chuckled.
"No one will ever find us down here, so you two will be alone when your minds are both locked away in the Shadow Realm forever." He said before he made his move drawing a card. "Mystic Tomato in defence mode!" he said summoning a monster which looked like a floating demonic tomato with an Attack of 1400 and a Defence of 1100. "And I'll place one card face down." He added, setting the card.
"Arkana's Mystic Tomato is a weak defence, if I summon another monster and destroy it, I can leave him open for another attack and win this duel." Yami thought and Arkana was grinning as if he knew what Yami would do.
"Take the bait, I know you want to attack my weak monster." He thought.
"This is where it ends." Yami said, drawing a card as he began his turn. "I summon Beta the Magnet Warrior." He summoned his second Magnet Warrior which stood beside his Dark Magician. "Attack now!" he ordered his new monster.
"Not so fast, you've activated my trap card, Dark Renewal!" Arkana said with a smirk as he activated his face down card and a coffin appeared in front of him before it opened up and fired a red beam of energy at Beta the Magnet Warrior and sucked both it and Arkana's Mystic Tomato inside it. "It takes a monster from each player and sends them to the graveyard, but in return it brings back one monster that's been lost by the card holder in this case that means me."
"You want your Dark Magician back!" Yami said as the coffin began opening.
"Of course, and that will give me a second chance to annihilate you." Arkana said as the coffin fully opened with red energy surging outwards as Daisuke and Yami saw the monster stepping out with a cocky smirk.
"You have your wish it's Dark Magician versus Dark Magician. Let's find out who the real master is." Yami said and Arkana smirked as both monsters stared each other down.
"Their points are identical, you'll have to think more strategically, and only a true illusionist can master the true power of a Dark Magician. Prepare to lose your card and your mind." Arkana said.
"Think again, now I place these two cards on the field face down and end my turn." Yami replied, setting two cards.
"This show will have more twists than he expects, I'll match him move for move." Arkana thought, drawing a card. "Two can play at that game. I'll also play two cards face down, so what's next?" he asked Yami.
"I'll show you." Yami replied. "I'll place one more card face down." He said and Arkana scoffed.
"Brilliant move Yugi." He said before copying his move, setting another card face down also.
"I'll set my last card." Yami said, setting a fourth card face down.
"And so will I." Arkana said. "We both have four cards on the field and one Dark Magician, and now let's see who picked the best dueling strategy. I'll play a magic card, the Mystical Guillotine!" a guillotine appeared on the field and he smirked as two shackles shot towards Yami's Dark Magician grabbing it by the arms and dragging it to the guillotine.
"My Dark Magician no!" Yami exclaimed as Arkana cackled.
"It's time for the curtain to fall on your Dark Magician, say goodbye to him and to this world as your mind becomes trapped in the Shadow Realm!" he said as the blade of the device dropped down towards the Dark Magician.
"You'll have to find him first Arkana, go Magical Hats!" Yami exclaimed, activating one of his cards.
"What!?" Arkana shouted as the four hats appeared around the Dark Magician and the blade of the guillotine dropped and cut through an empty hat while the three remaining hats floated back over to Yami.
"Now you have to guess which hat my Dark Magician is under." Yami told him with a grin.
"I think not, A Thousand Knives!" Arkana replied by activating his second magic card and his Dark Magician suddenly gained a thousand sharp knives around him and in his hands. "These magical daggers will lock on and destroy your Dark Magician, it's all over." He said as his monster threw the daggers at the farthest back Magical Hat.
"Hold on Arkana, I'll rescue him with Curse Breaker." Yami said activating another magic card and a burst of yellow energy washed over the field destroying the Magical Hats and the Thousand Knives. "This cancels out all other magic cards."
Arkana grit his teeth in frustration as Yami's Dark Magician landed back in front of his master. "Destroying my Dark Magician won't be easy Arkana."
"Well we'll just see about that." Arkana said.
"Dark Magician attack now with Dark Magic Attack!" both Yami and Arkana shouted and their magicians flew towards each other clashing in a magical display of power.
"They'll destroy each other!" Arkana shouted and sure enough both monsters were destroyed.
"And now my Dark Magician will return, I activate Monster Reborn!" both Arkana and Yami shouted again, copying each other's move and activating the same card as their Magicians returned at the same time.
"It would seem we're back where we started." Arkana said.
"Indeed, a stalemate. Why don't you unlock us from these shackles and finish this duel with honour?" Yami asked.
"And ruin all the fun? Never!" Arkana answered as Daisuke shuffled her head and managed to force the gag in her mouth out so she could speak, and she sighed.
"Finally." She whispered, turning her attention to the duel overhearing Yami questioning Arkana on why he was doing what he was doing and she saw Arkana removed his mask showing what his face looked like to both Yami and herself making her gasp softly feeling sorry for the illusionist.
"There once was a time my magical act was the envy of the entire magic world, and I loved every minute of it. I had it all, money, fame and most importantly I had her. My lovely Catherine, we were going to be married until that faithful day. It was a routine escape trick, I had done it a million times, but as Catherine looked on, something went horribly wrong. I lost my career and my movie star good looks that day, and then I lost her. I drove her away Yugi, I was a broken man. I didn't want her to see me ruined. She stood by me and I hurt her, by the time I figured that out it was too late. My life was over, until I met him…Marik." He explained putting the mask back on quickly.
"If I defeated Yugi Muto in a duel and put him out of action for good, he would reunite me with Catherine with the help of his Millennium Rod."
"Working for Marik won't bring you anything but pain and misery Marik, he only cares about using other people to get what he wants, he won't help you." Daisuke said softly, making the illusionist look at her.
"It's a cruel cruel world, but I trust my master. He's already brought Catherine here for me." Arkana said as a light turned on behind a curtain showing someone sitting in a chair. "Give me a minute darling to destroy Yugi and then we'll be together forever." He told the figure.
"That's not a person." Daisuke whispered, hanging her head low. "That's just a trick by Marik to make Arkana duel for him." She thought as Arkana laughed psychotically.
"You're a fool to trust in Mark, you should instead be trusting in yourself and your cards Arkana. You use cheap tricks and illusions to duel and that will be your downfall." Yami told him.
"They're just cards Yugi, nothing more." Arkana said with a smirk.
"That is your problem, they're not just cards. My heart is in my deck and that is why I will never lose." Yami told him.
"You talk about having faith in the cards but that will be your own downfall Yugi." Arkana said. "I knew you would rely on the Dark Magician to bail you out, so I created my own deck to take your Dark Magician away from you."
Meanwhile in KaibaCorp HQ, Mokuba, Kaiba and White-Veemon arrived in the main control room for Battle City via elevator and walked into the room. "We've still not relocated Yugi or Daisuke's duel disk signals." White Veemon said. "Whoever is behind their disappearances must not want them to be found."
"Right you are. My duel disks won't operate unless it has a connection to KaibaCorp's tournament computer or another compatible system." Kaiba said, crossing his arms.
"Meaning if they don't want us to see whoever Yugi is dueling, they'd have their own internal computer dueling system." Mokuba said and Kaiba nodded and his brother smiled.
"Search Battle City for every system that is compatible with KaibaCorp's dueling system and make it snappy!" Kaiba ordered the women sitting around the room.
"Yes sir!" they all replied getting to work and several red blips appeared on the screen.
"Isolate the ones who refuse to identify themselves to us." Kaiba ordered.
"I'll search the streets, let me know when you find him." Mokuba told his brother.
"White Veemon go with Mokuba, keep them safe." Kaiba told his Digimon partner who nodded.
"Got it. Come on Mokuba." The digimon said running off with Mokuba out of the room while Kaiba remained watching as the women in the room narrowed down where Yugi and Daisuke might be.
"It's not too late Arkana, end this now and we can both escape this." Yami told Arkana trying to make the man see reason only for him to laugh.
"Not until I win your Dark Magician." He replied.
"Then make a move." Yami told him.
"With great pleasure, I place one card face down and end my turn." Arkana said, setting another card. "What about you?"
Yami drew a card and looked over at Daisuke before turning back to Arkana. "I place two cards face down." He said.
"Time to spice up this show. I activate the magic card, Beckon to the Dark!" Arkana shouted and right energy shot into the air forming dark clouds which opened as a giant hand reached down.
"No, my Dark Magician!" Yami shouted seeing the hand reaching for his monster.
"That's right, you should be scared. With it's gruesome claw this magic card snatches up any opponent's monster and sends it to the Graveyard." Arkana explained.
"I think not. You didn't expect this did you, Mystical Refpanel!" Yami shouted, activating his trap card. "This trap card will counter the darkness of your magic card and spare my Dark Magician."
"Not for long." Arkana said with a smirk. "Beckon to the Dark was a decoy, to get you to waste your precious trap card. I knew you would fall for that, now it's my turn. Nightmare Chains!" he said, activating his own trap card and thick rusty chains emerged from the card as it activated wrapping around Yami's Dark Magician. "These chains will bind your magician, putting him out of play and leaving you open to direct attack."
"Oh no he's trapped" Daisuke gasped seeing Yugi's monster chained up.
"Now all he can do is look on helplessly as I destroy his master. Though you won't be his master for much longer, so it doesn't really matter. He soon will belong to Marik, now prepare yourself Dark Magician attack Yugi's life-points directly!" Arkana shouted and his Dark Magician smirked maliciously and unleashed his magical power at Yami making him scream in pain as his life-points dropped to 1500.
"Yami!" Daisuke gasped with worry seeing the energy disc moving closer to Yami as Arkana laughed. Daisuke then heard a ruffling and turned to see her backpack Arkana had left beside her shuffle before Demi-Veemon stuck his head out of it looking at her worried. "Vee, my Digivice." She whispered and he blinked before nodding pulling it out of the backpack and he pressed a button quietly and it beeped softly showing a nearby blip.
Meanwhile back with Mokuba and White Veemon, the boy stopped running when he heard a beep and pulled out his brother's digivice he still had on him. "Look it's picking something up." He said, showing the digimon who looked at the screen to see a distant gold blip.
"That must be a digivice signal, meaning Daisuke has her digivice with her." He said. "Excellent this will lead us right to her." Mokuba smiled and nodded before noticing Solomon and Tea nearby and he ran over to them.
"Oh, Mokuba, you've got to help us, Yugi went into a large tent and vanished, we think he's been kidnapped." Tea said in worry.
"Don't worry I know; I think I know where he and Daisuke are." Mokuba said.
"Well lead the way and we'll follow you." Solomon told the boy who nodded and ran off followed by White Veemon.
Back at the duel, it was Yami's turn. "Now I'll summon my Big Shield Gardna in defence mode!" he said summoning a monster which was a warrior with long mane like black hair, dark skin crouching down while wielding a giant shield in front of him, it had a tiny Attack of 100 but an impressive Defence of 2600.
"Look at you, cowering behind your shield desperately trying to hold off your defeat at the hands of my mighty Dark Magician, but I'm afraid that won't work. After my next turn, your life-points will be zero. I promise you." Arkana said with a grin. "Now if you're done with your turn I will also summon a monster, behold the Doll of Demise!" he then summoned a monster which was a demented looking doll with axes for hands and it giggled manically and it had an Attack of 1600 and a Defence of 1700.
"And now for the magic card they'll lead to your ultimate demise. I play Ectoplasmer." He continued playing his magic card and Yami grit his teeth. "Confused Yugi, allow me to explain it for you. This magic card drains the very soul of one of my monsters, creating a pure concentrated form of energy called ectoplasm which is then fired directly at you."
"You're going to sacrifice your own monsters to attack him? Don't you care at all about them?" Daisuke questioned with a frown.
"Once I destroy Yugi I will have no need for them, I will be reunited with my sweet Catherine." Arkana said, not noticing his Dark Magician having a slight look of betrayal on his face. "Now extract ectoplasm." He commanded and his Doll of Demise vanished, and a glob of ectoplasm flew into the magic card. "Attack now!" He shouted and the orb of ectoplasm shot towards Yami passing through Big Shield Gardna and hitting Yami making him grunt in pain as his life-points fell to 700 and the saw blade moved closer to him.
"One more attack like that and my life-points will be gone." Yami thought as his Dark Magician struggled in his chains trying to get free to aid his master.
"You fought well Yugi, but do you know why you and your beloved Dark Magician couldn't beat me? You're too soft, in fact monsters respond best to fear. You have to make certain that they are afraid of you, you will never command their respect with kindness and trust." Arkana told Yami with a smirk. "You are the master; they are the servants who ensure victory for you even if you have to destroy them to do so."
"You're a sick man!" Yami and Daisuke growled out.
"How dare you treat your cards that way, they'd be better off with another duelist instead of you, at least then they wouldn't have to worry about being discarded so callously." Daisuke growled out looking to Arkana's Dark Magician which looked to her for a moment.
"Be silent, I am about to win this duel. Time for another round of ectoplasm!" Arkana shouted and his Dark Magician slumped and glowed before its soul was extracted and turned into ectoplasm.
"No!" Daisuke whispered, softly saddened for the fate of the monster.
"Now fire!" Arkana cackled madly as the ectoplasm fired at Yami only for his Dark Magician to begin glowing.
"My Dark Magician!" Yami whispered in awe of what was happening.
"But how? This cannot be!" Arkana shouted as a golden light shot out of Yami's Dark Magician. "It seems the soul of your Dark Magician was also extracted, but that means they will both be destroyed!" the golden light reformed into the Dark Magician who stood in front of Yami blocking the attack and was destroyed in a flash of light.
"It seems your plan to destroy me backfired. You're so busy disrespecting your monsters that you fail to learn how to use them properly. While it's true your Ectoplasmer drains your monsters souls and fires that energy at your opponent, but you also didn't realise that when more than one of the same monster are on the field, they'll be affected in the same way. So my Dark Magician was drained of his soul also, cancelling out your attack Arkana." Yami said.
"You may have avoided that attack but you're still one attack away from being banished to the Shadow Realm forever!" Arkana told him.
