Journey of the soul chapter 78
This is it. The fight within this chapter was the basis for the entire story. I didn't think it would take this long to get here, but now it's time.
Spinax: hold up, how can this fight be the one you based the story on? It's not tied to any of the custom canon.
No, not that fight, the fight I have planned.
Spinax: ooooooh…but we're still doing that fight right?
Of course. That fight's pretty important.
Hunter:….I haven't played champions so I'm gonna sit this conversation out.
You haven't played any of the fossil fighters games to completion so don't even talk.
Hunter: Not true! I played Frontier!
…And that's why you aren't allowed in the big kid conversations. Onto the chapter!
Duna's thoughts swirled around her head endlessly. Even as Hunter walked out of the temple with the "Soulcrusher" in hand and the spirit of the ancient guardian in his holder, she couldn't shake the feeling that it wouldn't be enough. But why? According to the past, it should defeat zongazonga soundly. There was only one thing she couldn't make sense of. Alvis. Where was he? Why wasn't there any records of him despite everything suggesting there should be. There has to be something she's missing. As a scientist, it frustrated her to no end.
"Hey, you alright?" Duna jumped when Hunter put a hand on her shoulder. It was almost funny, how concerned he looked while carrying multiple weapons with him.
"I am fine. Nothing to worry about."
"I thought you didn't like lying," Hunter shrugged, "I'm worried too."
"…."
"Sorry. That was insensitive."
"No, you're right. I should tell you if I'm worried."
"Oh dang, two contractions in one sentence." She chuckled in spite of herself.
"I am concerned that there is much more than just Zongazonga to deal with."
"You mean Alvis right?"
"Correct."
"Well, wherever he's ran off too, there's something I need to talk to him about."
"I would advise against that."
"Hmm." Hunter knew it was a bad idea, especially since Duna didn't trust Alvis at all, but there was still something he needed to ask.
"Can I know what you want to ask?" Spinax chimed in.
"Don't you already know because of the mind link?"
"Well yeah, but I wanted to ask to sound proper." Hunter didn't continue the conversation. Instead, he tried to come up with a way to get back to Cranial island without drawing attention.
"So Lila, what are the chances you've got a flying vivosaur?"
"0%"
"Duna-"
"If you are about to ask if dinaurians can grow wings. No, we cannot."
"And guardian would probably be a bit too conspicuous." Suddenly, Hunter's bag began shaking violently. Joe's skull popped out, breaking the zipper in the process.
"Y'all just leave that to me pards!" In his teeth was a Dino medal which he threw into the air. In a flash, B-Ptera appeared. Duna and Lila climbed on while Hunter and Spinax mourned the loss of their zipper.
…
Todd wasn't sure were he was, but he WAS sure that he need leave there. He was standing on some sort of black plateau. It wasn't particularly warm or cold, but he couldn't stop himself from shaking. This isn't a place he should be, he knew that much.
"You are quite the little inconvenience aren't you?" He recognized that voice immediately.
"Zongazonga? Get away!" Todd swung at the darkness in front of him.
"No matter how many dangerous situations I threw you into, you survived because of pure luck."
"I don't know what you're talking about, I don't care. Stay away from me and my friends!"
"For one, I wasn't finished." Zongazonga seemed bored, as if he knew this would go his way.
"I try to have you eaten by a whale, and you get sick. You're quite the lucky one aren't you?"
"…you brought the bonehemoth to Icegrip plateau?"
"Of course I did you fool. No creature that size would stay in a frigid area with no other fish. I was hoping to kill both you and Hunter, but I'm glad that failed, I learned valuable information."
"Why did you even want Hunter dead?"
"Because he was a threat to my power, but then I realized I could use his own instability to my advantage. You are the thing he worries over most. Don't you feel proud?"
"What the hell are you even talking about?"
"I don't believe I could make myself clearer. Hunter is a threat to me, you kept Hunter mentally sound by being around him. So riddle me this, what would happen if you two were to turn against each other?"
"That would never happen!"
"And why not? He ruined your dream didn't he? Caliosteo cup champion, greatest fossil fighter in the world, all shattered in an instant. I suppose it must be even more heartbreaking when you realized he was holding back as well."
"Sh-shut up….you shouldn't even know that."
"But I do. Invading souls Is how I quite literally make my living. Your thoughts are all revealed to me. Now, I suppose it is time I got on with this, don't you? I'm sure we're all DYING to see what your rematch will be!" Todd shouted as black and purple mist shot forward from above him and covered his eyes. The last thing he remembered before blacking out was a high pitched laughter and an immense pain in his skull.
…..
B-Ptera tore through the sky, trying to remain silent as it moved above the clouds. It was practically freezing up there, especially since the sun had set, but the cover would be much needed to get back to Cranial city. Hunter rubbed his hands to get her furiously, preparing himself both physically and mentally.
"You have to tell her." Spinax remarked.
"I'm going to tell her."
"Then tell her."
"I will"
"Now."
"Yes."
"Tell her."
"Right now."
"Yes, right now. Tell her."
"Yes."
"…."
"…"
"OH MY GOD JUST FREAKING TELL HER"
"How the hell do you tell someone that they're descended from ancient caliosteo people and that I'm their adoptive older brother? Huh? How am I supposed to say that in a way that doesn't make me look batshit insane?!"
"Well, you can stop worrying about it."
"Why?"
"Because you just said all that out loud." Hunter froze and looked behind him. Lila was sitting there, staring at him with pure shock in her eyes. Duna looked surprised, but didn't say anything.
"…I'm what?" Lila finally asked.
"When I talked to the guardian, it showed me the past. Right?"
"Right, you already told me that."
"Well, I was shown a memory of the guardian as a person naming their child, they named it cloud, which the guardian confirmed as my family later. Then I was shown a scene where the guardian got his sister back and they sealed themselves away to preserve the soulcrusher and himself. They said only family members could break the seal keeping them there. The same seal you opened."
"….so…you're my brother?"
"Technically no, but I'm adopted so yes?" Hunter then nearly fell off Ptera as Lila jumped on top of him.
"I have a brother!" She shouted with delight.
"You're taking this surprisingly well."
"Are you kidding? My ancestor is a skeleton dragon and I helped save the world because of it! This is so cool!" That's true. If Lila hadn't been there, they wouldn't be able to get the guardian out. But still, a half human half dinaurian hybrid AND a descendant of ancient caliostians? That's almost too little of a chance to be a coincidence.
"I must say, this is a surprise to me as well." Duna though to herself for a moment, "your file said nothing of this."
"Who cares. This is awesome! I have a brother!" Lila raised her arms out, but then her face became much more serious and scared.
"Guys….why don't I feel wind."
"That would be because we've stopped."
"But wouldn't that also mean?"
"Yes."
"Damn."
"Language!" Hunter shouted at Lila as Ptera went careening downwards towards cranial city. Hunter could see purple mist surrounding the bottom of Ptera's wings as it spiraled down. This was the work of Zongazonga, and now there was only one way to stop them all from crashing.
"Guardian!" Hunter threw the soul disc directly below them. The massive dragon appeared in a blaze of purple fire, catching everyone in the void between its bones. It flapped its wings before landing on the ground in a small field next to the tower, creating a small windstorm around them. Hunter could already hear shouting as he retrieved Guardian back into the disc.
"Well, so much for being subtle." Hunter sighed and turned towards the wildwest tower, "even if we do go through the hole in the wall now, there's no way we won't get spotted."
"I have an idea." Duna looked through the foliage at the beams of different flashlights.
"What was that?"
"Did you see that?"
"It was a dragon!" A ring of light surrounded Duna. In a flash of light, she was in her vivosaur form. Hunter understood the plan once Duna began stomping around making noise.
"Lila let's go!" He whisper shouted as Lila struggled to pick up a stunned Joe and fit him back in the broken duffel bag. Before they ran towards the tower, Hunter hugged Duna around the neck.
"Thank you. I'll see you when this is over." Duna's vivosaur smile was a bit scary, but appreciated. Hunter and Lila bolted for the tower while Duna went the opposite way, making as much noise as possible.
"So we get up there, bonk Zongazonga with the magic hammer, and then we save the world right?" Lila asked.
"Actually, I think this just saves me from being a talking skull, but sure. He'd probably do bad things if he gets his powers back anyway." Hunter was silently glad for the lack of world ending threats in this situation. The biggest threat recently was Joe almost sinking the islands, and even then he later explained that he wouldn't have done it until everyone had evacuated.
As they neared the entrance of the fighters station, Hunter noticed two silhouettes by the lights. He didn't stop though, because he knew these people. Rupert and Pauleen each came out from under the light to face him.
"You've certainly been busy." Was all Rupert said as they faced down each other. Hunter gripped Lila's hand.
"So, are we gonna fight? Or can I just go and take care of some personal business."
"What's the hammer for Digadig?"
"Knocking souls out of bodies."
"….."
"You gonna let me through or what?" Hunter tapped his foot, "if I told you the whole story, we'd be here for hours. I'm not going to hurt anyone, and the only person I might hurt probably has it coming."
"You're asking us to trust you." Rupert folded his arms and shook his head, "in what situation would trusting you be a good idea?"
"…people trusted me to save the world." That stopped both of them. It seemed they weren't quite used to Hunter revealing himself. He couldn't blame them, he wasn't used to it either.
"There he is! It's Hunter Cloud!" A voice shouted. Hunter turned to see ALL THREE staff leaders heading towards them. He recognized one as Stella and didn't bother to remember the other two.
"Hunter, go!" Lila moved in front of him with Salada's Dino medal in her hand, "I'll take care of this."
"I'm getting déjà vu right now, but either way I can't let you fight them by yourself.
"She won't be by herself." Rupert and Pauleen each moved to either side of Lila.
"Man, I guess I really do have friends."
"That is the weirdigadest thing you could've said."
"Eh, I could've thought of weirder." Spinax chimed in.
"Thanks guys. I'll explain soon…as long as you can accept magic and body stealing." With that, Hunter ran into the fighters station.
"Y'know spinax, you haven't said much this whole time."
"Shhhh, I'm building suspense so when I do say something it'll have more of an impact." Hunter leaped onto the railing of the stairs and began running up the side.
"You do realize it's just me you'll be talking to right?"
"True, although I guess we could find that other kid with the attitude and get a bigger audience."
"….what?" But Hunter didn't learn what. Instead, he was stopped at the entrance to the elevator by someone with their arms folded and a dark shadow over their eyes.
It was Todd.
"Whew, good to see you're alright man." Hunter heaved a sigh of relief he had been keeping in, "now what'd ya say to you and me beating the literal soul out of that asshole?" He reached out to Todd.
"Glad to have ya back in board pard!" Joe's said from within the bag.
"Wait…get back!" Spinax shouted. Instinctively, Hunter lurched backwards. Good thing he did, as Todd swiped at him with purple mist (trademark zongazonga) trailing from his hands.
"Save the stupid talk about being friends." Todd said blankly.
"…what?"
"Are you kidding me? Don't act like you don't know. You've always looked down on me. Thought I wasn't good enough, a coward."
"What are you talking about?"
"You held back when we fought in the cup."
"….."
"You've always looked down on me, well guess what? Now I'm strong. Stronger than anyone!"
"Todd, I don't want to fight you. This is all Zongazonga's magic." Hunter tried to think of a way to not hurt Todd while getting up the elevator. He walked past Todd.
"I won't fight you, I'm go-"
"I don't give a shit!" Hunter shouted as he felt a hand clasp around his neck, somehow burning him.
"Damn it Todd! Snap out of it!"
"Barbaros! Teffla!"
"That's not snapping out of it!" Hunter was forced to jump from the second level to avoid being crushed by Todd's vivosaurs, which each had the same dark flint in their eyes.
"Spinax!" Spinax appeared in a flash of light just as Barbaros came spinning down towards Hunter. He caught the smaller creature and slammed it into the ground, breaking the floor. Teffla swooped down and lashed Spinax across the face with its tail before sending electrics spores sparking out in all directions.
"Harden!" Spinax shielded himself from the attack before picking up Barbaros once more and throwing it at teffla, who flew out of the way. Barbaros crashed into the stairs, leaving the elevator as they only way to get up to Zongazonga.
"Teffla coil!" Teffla let out an ear piercing shriek that left Spinax stunned and unable to move as Barbaros barreled into him. It was then Hunter noticed something, there was someone hiding in the rubble of the front desk. The receptionist was still here, in the middle of a fight between three super evolved vivosaurs.
"Todd stop this! This could hurt someone!"
"I don't care! I finally have a chance to prove that I'm not some pathetic coward. I'm stronger than you, I'm stronger than anyone!"
"…goddamnit. You're just like I was."
"Don't compare me to you! Barbaros blast!" Green waves of energy cascaded down from Barbaros, slamming into Spinax and getting dangerously close to the receptionist, who screamed as she desperately tried to free herself from her own desk crushing her.
"Just Hang on!" Hunter called to the receptionist, "I'll help you out!" He across the rubble of the room as Spinax took attack after attack in order to shield them both.
"Teffla dive!" Teffla dove straight down at Hunter. Spinax let out a roar as he launched himself into Teffla, sending both of them crashing into the side of the building. Hunter braces himself against the collapsed desk and tried to lift it enough for the receptionist to crawl out.
"Barbaros spin!"
"Harden!" Spinax was struck again and again by Barbaros, who kept getting shot back towards him by teffla.
"Can't keep this up much longer." Spinax growled. "We either fight or run."
"You're okay with running away from a fight?"
"It's Todd, I'll make an exception."
"In that case. Hya!" Soulflame flared to life and allowed Hunter to lift the deal enough. The receptionist scrambled away and headed towards the station exit.
"So much for a thank you." Hunter grabbed the bottom lip of the second level and hoisted himself up thanks the soulflame's added strength. He vaulted over Todd and was almost at the elevator door.
"Hold it!" Hunter turned to see something he never thought he would. Todd, possibly the nicest person he ever met, was holding the lady hostage. Teffla's tail spike was pressed against her neck.
"You're not going anywhere until I beat you."
"You can't be serious."
"Freaking try me!" The lady then screamed as teffla's spike slid partway across her head, creating a red line. Hunter let out a sad laugh.
"Zongazonga, I know you're listening. I mean this in the nicest way possible. YOU MESSED UP." The fire streaming from his eye flared up as a blue color flooded through spinax's crystals. Hunter bolted for teffla and grabbed the tail. Spinax slammed into Barbaros to prevent it from charging at them. He felt the tail spike slide across his arm, tearing the flesh, but he didn't feel pain yet.
"Spinax mega!" Spinax reared back and struck teffla in the head. Hunter felt his head go hazy. He was angry, REALLY angry. He was losing himself again. Losing himself to…
"Y'know, I was almost getting around to the idea of accepting fading away." The words were coming out of his mouth, but he knew only he could hear them.
"And then I'm forgotten, torn apart at the goddamn seams. Do you have any idea how terrifying it is being alone in the dark while constantly being in a state of suffocating? THAT'S EVERY DAY FOR ME."
"You're…just my subconscious." Hunter told himself. He tried to ignore the voice as Todd continued his attack with no leverage this time.
"Teffla scale! Barbaros spin!"
"Soulfire!" With no people caught in the cross fire, Spinax was free to use his destructive attacks. Blue flames ripped past the sparks to hit both vivosaurs. Barbaros spun through the flames and landed a solid hit on Spinax, who responded by lashing out with his tail and knocking it away.
"Spinax….I'm losing it." Hunter managed to cough the words out when his vision became blurry.
"Losing what? We win this and get Todd back. You can keep it toge-" Spinax looked over at Hunter, "….oh, shit."
"I thought I had this under control, why now?" The times where soulflame actively hurt Hunter hadn't happened for at least a few weeks now. What was causing this? Spinax took attack after attack from Barbaros and teffla, shielding Hunter. The voice continued as Hunter felt himself retreat back into his own soul.
"What makes you so special? My entire existence was cut short because of you! Why are you the one that gets to live while I'm forced to stay here in agony? WHY ME?!" That last shouted was filled with so many emotions. Anger, sadness, desperation, and Hunter felt them all. When he felt his feet touch the ground again, he was at the same shadowy plateau. He barely had time to register this before the dark figure came rushing at him with his own foldax. He jumped back to avoid the swing, but the ax blades flipped out at the same time and knocked the wind out of him. Hunter scrambled away and tried to kick the figure in the back as he ran, who stumbled forward. He used this moment to charge at him and jam his fist into their neck. The figures head turned and two blue slits of light appeared on what should be the face.
"Did you really think that would work?"
"Not really." Hunter jumped back to avoid another swing of the foldax. The figure lifted its hand and began collecting stars like the previous times they fought. The silver one orb the formed was not thrown at Hunter. Instead, it took a shape identical to his foldax until the figure was now rushing at him with two of his own unique tool. Hunter jumped out of the way of the first swing and, thanks to soulflame's boost, was able to pivot and dodge the second. He kicked at the figure again, who blocked with one foldax and knocked his foot away with the other. Hunter feel to the ground and had to roll to avoid being skewered. He recovered and looked around. He wasn't much of an actual fighter, and there was nothing he could use to fight back.
"Feeling scared? Out of options?" The figure raised its hand and gathered stars again. Hunter thought for a moment, then lifted his own hand. Stars formed an orb that hovered just above his palm. The figure threw this orb and it exploded into blue flames like a soulfire attack.
"Damn it, I need to defend myself." Hunter threw his own orb in desperation? It sparked uproar and formed a blue shield around him which blocked the flames before exploding itself, sending the figure sprawling backwards.
"I think I've figured it out." Hunter commented as he gathered more stars, "this is my soul, so these must be my memories. So if I remember something like this…." The stars came together a shaped themselves. Hunter was now holding his own foldax, identical to the ones the figure held.
"Then I can fight." He two rushed at each other's neither of them were particularly adept with their weapons, but it was hard to tell between the clanking of metal and sparks flying whenever they collided. Hunter knew he was stronger thanks to soulflame, but it was difficult to land a hit that would knock them unconscious. Every second was a flash of steel and a jolt being sent up his arms as he blocked swing after swing. Hunter flipped the blades out on his foldax and thrust it upwards just as the figure brought down both of theirs on top of him. They became locked his place and stared each other down.
"Tell me something." Hunter asked.
"No."
"What are you really? You're definently more than just a part of me."
"I am….nobody."
"That's a lie."
"I..m.. …se"
"What?" Hunter had heard that before. Where had he heard that before. For a split second, the dark shadows surrounding the figure dispersed slightly. He saw wisps of blue hair before it was covered again and the two broke away from each other. Hunter reached a hand up and began gathering stars. He tried to focus on the blockade on his memories and reach out towards it using soulflame. It was painful, even more painful then when he sent a mental message, but he couldn't stop.
"Get back over here and fight you bastard!" The figure charged at him again, forcing him to break concentration and dodge.
"If you're in my soul, then you've got to be in my memories."
"Shut the hell up! I am…no….else!" It seemed as if whatever they were trying to say, they physically couldn't say it. Ironic.
Hunter tried again to get her stars while pushing at the mental barrier. Only this time, he threw the orb at the figure. The orb exploded into a tornado that blew them backwards. Hunter gathered more stars as they tried to right themselves.
"I guess that's just how it goes." They began laughing hysterically. "You get kicked to the curb whenever it's convenient. Just like that, I was left with nothing. I guess that's how it is…when you don't have a soul."
"Then what are you gonna do about it?" Hunter led them on, even if he didn't quite understand what they were talking about.
"Simple. I kill you, use your soul."
"And what makes you think that'll work?"
"Because I…I am …no-….." they didn't answer. Instead, they charged again. Hunter gave them a sad smile.
"I'm sorry. I really don't understand you." Soulflame flared up more than usual and he felt his vision go blurry from pain, "but maybe this will help." He threw the orb the second he felt the mental barrier shatter.
"I am me, nobody else." The shadows faded around the figure as It all came back. Every memory. His years on the dinaurian ship, his time in hiding, the final moments before coming to the islands. Hunter looked at the person before him with fiery blue hair and tattered clothes. He remembered it all. They both did.
Hunter, and Dino; the other half.
For Hunter, the clearest memory was swing Alvis use clairvoyance on him, forcing him to wretch his soul from his own body. The explanation for why people thought he was dead.
For Dino, the clearest memory was being alone and helpless as they were dragged off to become a part of Hunter's soul again. He was nothing but a stepping stone.
"Don't think that."
"What?"
"We're pretty much the same person. I can hear your thoughts, you can hear mine….apparently. God this is confusing." Hunter scratched his head and laughed.
"So let's get this straight. You're part of me because of Alvis doing some weird soul shit or whatever. Everyone forgot about you when you became a part of me again. Now you're back, and Alvis is-"
"A little bitch."
"Sure."
"Whatever." Dino looked away, "it's not like this changes anything."
"Doesn't it?"
"No, I'm still stuck here. And now I don't want to kill you."
"Why not." The two sat at the edge of the plateau, staring at the stars.
"I've seen your memories. If just…doesn't feel right. You've been through as much shit as I have."
"You only got a month to live though. This just seems…unfair." Hunter clasped his hands behind his head and leaned back.
"Why did this even happen? What was splitting my-…our soul even going to accomplish?"
"Hell if I know." Dino joined Hunter in the same position, "man…this is messed up."
"You get used to it after a while."
"I won't. This shit sucks. Now I have to go back to the damn abyss just because I feel sorry for you-…me…us? Whatever."
"C'mon. There's gotta be some way to keep you out of there."
"There isn't, I've tried."
"But I haven't." Hunter realized that soulflame was still active and gestured to his eye, "you can do this right?" Dino responded by having his own eye spark up in flames.
"This answer your question?"
"You could've just said yes."
"Don't care."
"I'm starting to see why Spinax said you have an attitude."
"I'm starting to see why people abandoned you."
"You don't have to be a jerk about it. Anyway, try and reach out with your energy. If you ever feel a barrier when you do that, push past it like I did."
"There isn't one."
"Which means everyone will remember you."
"…it's that simple."
"If that's not how it works, then at the very least I'll remember you." Hunter gave a smile as Dino stood up.
"You remind me so much of him, it kinda hurts." Dino laughed. His voice cracked in the middle of the laugh.
"Who?"
"Todd. He…he was the only one that liked me."
"Yeah, and that's why I'm gonna get outta here and save him."
"Oh yeah, kinda interrupted that. Well, there shouldn't be a problem with it now."
"Hm?"
"You'll figure this out. Because you're me." Hunter laughed in spite of himself (literally)
"Well then, we better get to work. Got people to save. Asses to kick. One thing though."
"What?"
"Can you help me up? I can't move."
…
When Hunter opened his eyes again, Spinax was currently still fighting both teffla and Barbaros. Todd was still standing at the top of the stairs, although he seemed like he was in a daze.
"Good to see you back to reality." Spinax commented, "so what was that about?"
"Dino Exists."
"…..oh shit, he does."
"Oi Dino! You still here?" Hunter called out with his mind."
"…yeah."
"Neat."
"Great, now it's even more difficult to tell who's talking."
"Who the hell cares?"
"Oh! I know! That one's Dino."
"Shut up Spinax."
"Hey! He said the thing!"
"Weren't we supposed to be doing something?...TODD!" Hunter shouted that last part aloud. With soulflame still burning, he charged up the stairs. Barbaros launched itself at him, but Spinax moved over as well and struck it in the soft underbelly, returning it to a medal. Teffla also tried to intercept Hunter, but was met with the same fate when spinax rushed at it cloaked int blue flames. Hunter readied the soulcrusher and ran at his friend.
"Hold it!" Dino shouted, "I've got this one."
"You sure?"
"Trust me." Hunter stopped his swing before hitting Todd. Instead, he felt words flow out of his mouth without even meaning to say them.
"I'm sorry Todd. I was a prick to you and everyone around me. Thanks for sticking with me, even if I couldn't stick with you." For a second, the dark glint in his eyes disappeared.
"Dino?" He whispered.
"Yes, and no." Hunter had his own voice back, "it's confusing, isn't it? I should apologize too. I didn't realize how you felt and I couldn't help you when you helped me." It disappeared again, this time for good.
"You're….sorry?"
"Yeah, although I guess it's a bit too late for that now. I couldn't help you and look what happened." He let out a sad laugh, "I'm pretty pathetic aren't I? I was too focused on my own problems."
"I….I" tears were forming in Todd's eyes. "I'm sor-"
"I know." Hunter sat down on the floor, "dear god, we've been on one long ass journey through this tournament. And now here we are, two steps away from the last battle." Todd sat next to him, eyeing the soulcrusher.
"I was manipulated and let my own feelings get the better of me."
"Join the club," Hunter, Spinax, and Dino said simultaneously.
"So…what do we do now?"
"We go up there, we bonk him on the head with this, and then I probably go to jail."
"That kinda sucks."
"I know right? I should totally get the reward money first." He stood up and stumbled towards the elevator, wrapping a bandage around his arm.
"I feel really bad now cause I'm gonna have to ask for your help again."
"No problem! You can count on me." Todd joined Hunter in the elevator and the two rose up together.
"So this is what I exist for." Dino commented, "killing a wizard that has nothing to do with me."
"Disappointed?"
"Of course I am. Now let's go kick his ass." Hunter smiled. He didn't have all the answers yet. But in this moment, with the people he cared most about on his side and with his other half finally complete, he didn't need them.
If only he knew what those answers would mean for him.
Done! Just one more chapter after this one folks, and then we'll be at the long awaited finale!
Hunter: oh shoot, you mean it?
Of course I do.
Dino: about damn time.
Spinax: oh cool, the gang's all here.
So Dino, we're you the one yelling at me to end chapters in other chapters?
Dino: maaaaaaaybe.
Hunter: that means yes.
Dino: hey!
Hunter: what? You're me, if course I'm gonna be able to read between the lines.
At any rate. I guess I should tell you all one thing before I go. I won't be able to post the finale on the one week deadline, but that's because the finale will be multiple parts long! Hope you all look forward to it. Thanks for reading!
