"Hi, did I miss Mellie?"
"Yeah she only stayed a few minutes."
"Well, I wasn't expecting her to stay a long time. It's not like she has a reason to be here when I'm not here."
Olivia stepped out of her new Christian Dior heels and stood on her toes to give Fitz a kiss.
"I'm going to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen cooking for you today. Do you like that?"
"Yeah."
"So why aren't you happy? We have the house to ourselves for a few hours. How about dinner and dessert," Olivia kissed Fitz. "And more dessert. You can taste me."
"You do taste good Livvie. I need a few hours to myself."
"What?"
"I said I need some time to breathe, without you in the same space, for a few hours."
"Fitz, where is this coming from? You were fine when I left for the grocery store."
"You are my problem."
"Excuse me?"
"When I married you, I thought I was marrying a woman. You're a little girl that wants to be treated like a princess. I can't be your dad Olivia."
"I didn't ask you to spend your money on a new wardrobe. I don't need you for anything. I asked you for good sex and a kiss. You wouldn't give me that without a marriage."
"It's funny how you think you know a person. I thought I was marrying a good friend. You care more about your appearance than your own children."
"And yet you're here with me. I must be better than your ex-wife."
"Maybe you're not."
His words hurt, and Olivia was not holding back her tears.
"You get me pregnant with triplets, and you say that Mellie is better than me. Get out of my house Fitz."
"I've been waiting for you to say that. I'm taking Karen with me."
"You can't take Karen anywhere."
"That's where you're wrong. I'm her dad. You're her adopted mom. That's all you will ever be to Karen."
Fitz didn't bother grabbing his coat. His keys were already on the kitchen counter. There was nothing else to say. Olivia couldn't stop her tears. This was the man she married? She didn't know him. This was not her jogging buddy.
