Here's a Sothis chapter, capitalising on the constant "Wounded Professor" chapters I've been doing a lot of.

Enjoy.

His eyes slowly opened, being met with the sight of the ceiling of his room.

He sat up, wincing as a wave of pain washed over his chest. He grunted, clutching his abdomen as he resumed sitting up; leaning against his bed's headboard. He stared down, seeing his torso wrapped tightly in bandages.

"So, you are finally awake."

He turned his head to the source of the voice, seeing Sothis floating at the foot of his bed. Her head was turned away from him, staring out the window into the night. She eventually turned her head to face Byleth, A solemn expression upon her features.

"Another heroic deed, hm?"

"Sothis, I-"

"Save it." She coldly replied. "You did what you had to do, risked your life to save one of your precious students. Besides, no matter how many times we have this talk it seems you will still insist on acting like a complete and utter fool..."

Byleth looked down. Sothis was right, he was a fool. He kept on throwing himself in front of danger to save a student instead of simply using his Divine Pulses. He wondered if he'll eventually run out of luck, and be met with a fatal blow while protecting one of his students.

"I'm sorry...Sothis, it's instinct." Byleth said. Sothis scoffed.

"I was not aware that one could have an instinct to kill themselves."

"It's not like that."

"Then what is it like, Byleth!?" She snapped at him, landing on the floor and glaring at him from the foot of his bed. "Why is it that you insist on doing this to yourself!? Do you have no sense of self-preservation!? D-Do you think yourself immortal!? You are but one man, Byleth! Even if you do not have a heart you are still a human!" She crossed her arms, her glare intensifying. "So tell me right now, why do you insist on doing this to yourself?"

Byleth's eyes were widened at her outburst. He was thankful no could hear her other than him, she would've woken up the entire dorm. He looked down again and thought for a moment, before speaking.

"I...Do not know what to say that I have not already said before, I can't bear the thought of seeing my students die. Even if I can rewind time to undo their death, the sight would forever be stuck with me." He looked up to meet Sothis's gaze. "And what if...Your power does not work? What if using your power is still not enough to save them? What if I run out of uses...I used to have no fear, but now recently I've begun to learn what fear really is. My students mean so much to me, I'd do anything for them."

"And what about me?"

Byleth's eyes widened again, what about her...He never even...Sothis's glare faded away, replaced by a look of sorrow; a slight frown on her petite face.

"What about what I want? What about how I feel? Have you never stopped to think about how much your foolish, heroic actions affect me?" Sothis floated onto his bed, crawling over to him and sitting on top of him, staring deeply into his eyes.

"You're all I have, you know? No one else can see or hear me. I'm not even sure what will happen to me if you die, will I die too? Or will I simply end up alone?" She placed a hand gently against his chest, before leaning down and resting her head on him.

"That thought is too terrible to imagine...So seeing you throw yourself so willingly at death over and over again is so heartbreaking...It shakes me to my very core..." Sothis had begun tearing up, her body shaking lightly as she choked back the inevitable sobs.

Byleth didn't say anything. No words came to mind, Sothis was right however; he was being selfish. He often forgot that the two shared the same body, that the two are connected. He placed his hand on her head, which caused her to twitch before snuggling closer to him. He ran his hand down her long, messy green hair. Stroking her head as she eventually let her sobs overtake her. Wrapping her arms tightly around his torso, Byleth wincing as she did; but he remained quiet about it. Not wanting to ruin this little moment.

"Got everything you need?"

"Yes."

"You are sure?"

"I am"

"Byleth, look at me."

The esteemed Professor turned around to look at his small companion, seeing her holding the Sword of the Creator. Looking quite large in comparison to her small frame.

"O-Oh...Right..." He took the sword as she handed it to him before she sighed. "Honestly, what am I going to do with you..."

Byleth smiled at her before turning to leave.

"Byleth."

The man stopped and turned back to Sothis. "Have I forgotten something else?" The goddess shook her head.

"You have not but...I would like to try something before we leave..."

Byleth nodded, and Sothis stretched her arm out opening up her hand, aiming it at him. She closed her eyes and the symbol representing the Crest of Flames appeared in front of her, a glow enveloped him for a brief moment before fading away. Sothis let her arm fall back to her side and she opened her eyes.

"Well? How do you feel?"

Byleth inspected himself, looking down at his body. "I feel a little stronger I suppose..." Sothis nodded upon hearing this.

"Good, that's a new spell I've been working on. It is supposed to make you and your students more impervious to damage." Sothis glared at him. "Mainly you, so you don't take a fatal blow as easily. Since I know that despite our little talk you will still insist on acting like a bumbling fool."

Byleth smiled and patted her head. "Thank you Sothis, I'll make good use of your gift."

Sothis blushed. "I-It is not a gift! It is to protect you from getting killed!" Her words fell on deaf ears as Byleth left his dorm, waving to her. She sighed.

"You damn fool..."

This was really a gift for T.S. Atlas since he's such a big fan of Sothis, and I have a lot to thank him for. If you haven't checked him out yet I suggest you do.

I'll probably make some more chapters of Sothis in the future, so you all can look forward to those.

For now you can look forward to another new girl chapter tomorrow. That's right. Tomorrow. Instead of waiting a week of two, you only have to wait a day for a new chapter. Consider it a late christmas present from yours truly.

Until next time!
