There was no stopping the blush as she stared at the flowers. They smelled amazing and they were beautiful. Taking them before his shoving could ruin them, she stepped back into the apartment and left the door open for him to follow. A glance over her shoulder and she shrugged. "I'm not sure. She left me a note saying she had to leave."
Sesshoumaru watched her as she moved about the kitchen, pulling down a vase and cutting the base of the stems off. He found himself intrigued by the slope of her shoulders, the slim column of her neck and cursed himself the fool again. "Were you aware of her plans for this evening," he asked coolly.
She looked at him again as she set the vase in the sink to fill with water, her lips pursed. "I wasn't, and I'm still not." Picking the vase up and shutting off the water, she carefully arranged the flowers and then set them on the table. "What are you doing here?" she asked as she moved past him, wondering what this was all about.
He grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks until they were side by side. Looking down at her, he wondered what magic his mother had worked, for he had not seen this part of the girl since they had first met. "We have dinner reservations."
