Kagome gave a weak laugh, more nervous than she liked admitting to and took another step back, only to bump into her couch. "What makes you think I've been avoiding you," she muttered, forcing a scowl and feigning innocence.
He caged her there with his body, his hips pressed firmly against hers, his arms on either side of hers as he leaned down until they were nearly nose to nose. "You do not answer calls. You do not return calls. Twice in the past two days, you have canceled meetings with this one."
Flushing at the proximity, wondering where this sudden change in him had come from, Kagome found herself uncertain how to react. "Sorry?" she offered half-heartedly.
Narrowed eyes were suddenly no longer cold but filled with curiosity. "Why have you been hiding?"
She almost couldn't bear to look at him, especially with the way he was so close to her. She had never thought to be this much in his personal space again, yet this was the second time within a week that it had happened. Even just thinking about the way he had licked her wrist made her blush. "You make me nervous," she admitted, dropping her head to hide her eyes and the blush that covered her cheeks.
