A few hours later, Maya was upstairs sleeping. Bernadette was trying to stay awake while Amelia and Sophia ran around the living room.

"You can go to sleep, Mom. I can keep Amelia for you."

"Okay" Bernadette said with her eyes half closed.

"Why does Sophia get to be the boss?"

"Because Olivia is my niece and you're my great niece. I can make all the rules."

Sophia stood on the sofa. Bernadette was snoring a few minutes later.

"We are eating cookies for dinner."

"Okay."

"Amelia, look out the window. My grandma is outside."

"That's your grandma?"

"Yeah. She's Olivia's great grandma and she's your great great grandma."

"That's a lot of greats."

"Let's get the cookies."

A few minutes later, Amelia and Sophia had eaten all the cookies in the cookie jar. Maya and Sophia's grandmother was still walking up the driveway with her suitcase. Sophia ran to answer the door.

"Hi Grandma!"

"Where is your mama?"

"She is sleeping."

Julia dropped her suitcase on the floor. She had intended on staying home until the babies were out of the hospital, but she knew Bernadette was going to need help with Sophia.

"Bernadette you can't sleep in the middle of the day."

"Mama?" Bernadette opened her eyes and looked around, confused.

"Yeah, I'm here. You see cookie crumbs everywhere. Sophia is tearing up Maya's house."

"You ate cookies, Sophia?" Bernadette asked.

"I was hungry."

"Go clean up those crumbs and sit down and act like you got some home training." Julia said.

"Are you Sophia's grandma?"

"Yes, now you go sweep that floor with Sophia."

Olivia thought Fitz was joking when he told her he had just purchased two plane tickets to Vermont. He called his mom and asked her to get Karen from daycare. He didn't ask Maya and Bernadette if they were okay with Amelia staying overnight. Fitz requested a day off of work to study, and Olivia wanted to start her weekend early. A substitute could teach her class for the day.

"You are being really spontaneous."

"We only have the cabin for today."

"I didn't even ask my mom and grandma if they are okay keeping Amelia until tomorrow."

"We kept Miss Sophia. They can keep Amelia."

"I really like this cabin. It's too bad we can't move here now."

"We can still move to Vermont."

"No, I'm not leaving my mom in DC."

"Bernadette is there for Maya."

"Fitz, my grandma can barely keep up with Sophia."

"So when are we going to move to Vermont?"

"We will someday."

"Let's have sex."

"You are so unromantic."

"We don't have a lot of time. Our plane leaves tomorrow morning."

Have you taken a pregnancy test yet?"

"I'm not pregnant."

"You don't know that yet."

"I don't want to be pregnant."

"What if you are?"

"I hope it's not a girl. She might be a mini Sophia."

Fitz laughed, "I will be happy with a boy or a girl."

"I really don't want another baby right now and neither do you."

"Not right now I don't."

"When are you going to study?"

"Later."

"How about you study now, so you can hold me all night?"

"That is a good idea."

Olivia called Maya while Fitz shuffled through his luggage for the textbook and notes.

"Hello?"

"Hi, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were sleeping."

"Livvie?"

"Fitz and I are in Vermont until tomorrow. Can Amelia stay with you?"

"Hold on a minute. I think I hear my grandma downstairs."

"She's in DC?"

Maya came back to the phone a few seconds later.

"Yeah, she's here. Sophia is destroying my house."

"She broke something?"

"She's standing on my couch and grandma is yelling. Amelia can stay. She is sitting down with the Leapfrog. I threw out the marshmallows."

"Okay, thank you. Grandma Bernadette needs to get Sophia in some activities. You both need a break."

"Yeah, I'm going back to sleep after I take another Tylenol."

"Okay."

"Livvie, birth control."

"Okay."

When Olivia ended the conversation, Fitz was wearing his headphones. He listened to classical music when he studied.

Olivia smiled to herself. In a few months, she was going to be a grad student.

A few hours later, it was dark. They were sitting outside next to the fire pit sharing a blanket. Fitz pointed out the constellations in the sky. Olivia was afraid of being outdoors at night in the woods. Fitz let her know the fire would keep the animals away from the cabin.

"Do you know what the Drake equation is?"

"Is that his new album?"

Fitz laughed, "Not the singer. He's a scientist."

"Okay."

"His equation is the number of possible alien civilizations."

"You're a science fiction weirdo?"

"Yeah. I wanted to be an astronaut, but there are more jobs in engineering."

"I wanted to be an actress."

"Really? You can still be an actress."

"Only in my daydreams."

"You should audition for something."

"We don't live in California."

"We can move there, so you can chase your dream."

"We have two kids, careers, and mortgages."

"How about we go to California for two weeks in December? I can use my vacation days. I want you to audition for something. Maybe a TV show."

He wrapped his arm around Olivia and kissed her forehead. "Do you see that?"

"It's a shooting star."

"I guess that's a sign that your dreams will come true."

"We can go to California. I'll go for one audition."
