'I can't believe my friend ditched me in this sleazy bar, with all these guys staring. Oh crap, one of them is walking over here. Damn he's kind of cute.'
Said guy leaned over the bar and gave Maddie a smile.
"You know, you might be asked to leave soon."
"Why?" He leaned close to her ear.
"You're making the other women here look real bad."
'Oh my God, is he serious?' Maddie was sure she was making a face.
The guy didn't seem to notice and continued. "So are you going to talk to me or were you just going to continue to stare?"
"I wasn't staring at anything."
"My bad that was me. Do you have even the slightest idea of how beautiful you are?" He asked.
"O-oh well thanks. I guess…"
"What's a lovely lady like you called?"
"I'm Maddie." She said sitting straighter in her chair sizing the guy up.
The guy seemed to notice the movement and eased up from her personal space.
"Maddie huh? That's a lovely name."
"And your name is?"
"Alfred and do you mind if I ask you something?"
"Go right ahead."
'If he says another pick up line-'
"Were your parents Greek Gods? 'Cause it takes two gods to make a goddess."
'That's it.'
"Well they weren't and I need to go so-" Getting up from her seat Maddie grabbed her purse and started walking away.
"No don't go! I just want to talk to you." Alfred stood up as well, looking frazzled.
"Oh, really?"
"Yes. You see, sweetness is my weakness." He said with a awkward grin on his face.
"Then you must want this instead."
She pulled out a mini chocolate and handed it to him. She began heading to the exit.
"Does it have your number on it?"
Maddie turns to respond, not realizing Alfred was walking behind her, and almost bumps into the man. She didn't realize how tall he was.
"If you want my number you'll have to do better than stupid pickup lines."
"So is that a date?"
"If you come here tomorrow at seven maybe it can be."
