Kagome smiled, silently pleased that he did not react as her husband had and then silently berated herself for assuming he would. She hadn't used to judge people so easily, though she wasn't so sure her comparing the two was judging. More like she couldn't help but to be on edge, to wonder if at any moment he would act as she expected him to, as Jirōbō had. "That's right. Of course, I haven't practice law since before…well, since before things started going wrong."
His eyes narrowed and though she hadn't said anything he could almost see the way her thoughts worked in those dark blue eyes. She was too easy to read. Before he could say anything though, she interrupted.
"I don't want to talk about that though, okay? Tell me something about you that I don't know." She took a bite of the duck he had ordered her, savored the rich taste, and smiled again. "Tell me something that I can't read online or in the papers about the amazing Sesshoumaru Tashio."
Studying her, noting the way the fingers of her free hand tapped gently against the table, he nodded. Now was not the time to speak of such a depressing subject. Not to mention his mother would attempt to interrogate him about the entire affair. He was going to have to find a leash for that woman…."I did not love my wife," he said quietly, keeping his eyes on hers as he ate.
