Sapphire

He led her to the floor and wondered if she had gotten lost in thoughts of love as well. Moving one hand to her waist and the other to her free hand, he pulled her a little closer. "Do you know how to dance?" he asked quietly even as he began to lead.

She settled into the movements, setting her free hand on his shoulder and reveling in the warmth of his touch. "I do. It's been a long time, but I remember."

They moved as one; one couple amid many, one figure in a crowd. She thought back to their one night together and decided that this was even better, this warm companionship with no expectations, with conversation and interest and so much more. She liked the feel of his hands on her waist, the quiet confidence in which he led their dance. But most of all, Kagome liked the way he did not look away from her, his citrine eyes watching her with silent intensity.

It was the kind of silence that did not demand noise. The quiet that though loud, was comfortable in its loudness. Sesshoumaru was pleased that she did not feel the need to fill every silence, that she was content to meet his eyes as he held hers, the way he held her close. A part of him itched to pull her closer, to hold her more. He ignored it and focused on the depth in those siren blue eyes, the same color of the sapphire earing sitting on his dresser.
