Chapter 59 pieces of peoples

Ren walked into the office and took a seat across from the woman who was currently typing away at her computer

"I'll be with you in a minute"

"that fine, I will wait" he said uncomfortably ,he sat and fiddled with his watch and try to think about how to go about having this conversation he had been thinking about it ever since Kyoko had hung up yesterday night ,he didn't want to let too much of his anger show but the more he watched this women the more anger he felt.

She finally looked up and her breath stopped for a second as a flash of recognition hit her

"How can I help you Tsuruga Ren"

Ren smiled "there are a few things I would like to discuss with you Mogami Saena"

"what could we have to talk about"

"as I'm sure your aware I'm dating Kyoko who happened to also have a connected to you"

"has she already broken her agreement then"

Ren laughed "no I have known about you being her biological mother for a long time, you see I knew her in Kyoto when she used to run off and cry in private because you would tell her off for not getting perfect scores on tests"

Saena looked at him in surprise

"well, I see your connection to her is deeper than most people would guess"

"yes, the public doesn't know the half of what we have and probably never will but that not what I came here to talk about"

"Then what is this about, has she changed her mind"

"no she doesn't want to contact you ever again and believe me after today I will happily join her in that state of thing but you have caused Kyoko a lot of trouble recently and I think as it was you who caused it ,you should take at least some of the responsibility for it.

"I don't see how I have caused her any trouble maybe a little bit of hurt but she will get over that"

Ren's eyes flashed with rage, but he just clenched his hand into a fist.

"Did you not wonder why Kyoko was at the Fuwa's when you meet her the other day?"

Saena looked at him and was surprised that he was right, she had thought that odd but had pushed the question out of her mind

"no, I can't say I did"

"I don't know what you talked about and frankly I think it better for both of us that I don't but I'm hoping the matter of her arranged marriage contract came up at some point."

Saena nodded "very briefly"

"did Kyoko happen to mention that it was still in affect and that she was in the middle of negotiating herself out of it"

"no that didn't come up"

Ren looked at her in disgust "I didn't think it did, well they have given her conditions to meet before they relinquish the arrangement you set up"

"oh, I see, and you think I should help Kyoko fulfill her obligations"

"yes"

Saena looked at the man standing before her and had to admit she was rather impressed with him.

"I don't see how it has anything to do with me, if she is unwilling to marry the boy then that her choice but I'm not responsible for her anymore"

"so, your fine saddling her with a debt of 7,464,704 yen"

Saena swallowed and felt a bit of guilt creep into her but she pushed it away

"it's none of my business"

"maybe not but I think you should make it your business, now I don't expect you to pay it all , Kyoko would never take that but at least half of it is the very least you could do"

"I don't think so, I'm not going to pay a thing and you can't make me"

"are you sure about that Mogami" he said in a soft but deadly voice.

"yes, after all what could you do. Kyoko has signed all the paperwork; she is responsible for herself I have absolutely no reason to help her now"

Ren laughed "Kyoko may have signed those agreement including that NDA but I didn't , now I don't want to reveal any of this mainly because it would hurt Kyoko and you have done enough of that already but I do know a lot of people ,powerful people and I won't hesitated to destroy your career if you refuse to help"

Saena assessed him and knew that he was being completely honest, and it scared her. She had spent years climbing the ladder to get where she was and here was this young man completely confident that he could destroy her life's work on a whim.

She quickly decided that discretion was the better part of valour and nodded "fine I'll pay half of the money" she pulled out a cheque book from her top draw and quickly wrote 3,732,352 in the amount ,signed and passed it to Ren

"But that's it, I'm now completely done, you will never contact me again is that clear"

"crystal clear" he answered as he took the cheque from her. "I can't say it's been a pleasure meeting you, but it has been productive" he stood up and walked to the door he paused. "you have no idea what you've given up ,Kyoko is amazing she is triple the woman you'll ever be and when she loves someone she'd do almost anything for them ,to protect them but you're so full of bitterness that you'll never know what that is like, you are going to die a bitter and lonely person and I almost feel sorry for you."

Ren walked out and let the door slam behind him.

Julie felt a deep sense of satisfaction as she added the last of the beading to the dress she was working on, she stepped back and took in the whole effect and smiled yes it was just right .she sighed that was all her work for the Fallen Women movie complete and even as she felt relieved that it was done she also felt sad, her time in Tokyo was coming to an end and the thought of being in America again away from her son, especially now with all the drama unfolding around him didn't appeal to her at all , she wanted to stay and protect both of her children but she knew there was no choice really her whole life was back home and so was Kuu's and besides that her son was now a man one she was very proud of .She would never admit it to Lory but she could see now that taking Kuon from America had been the best thing for her child , of course she had still believed he would one day return to America but now that she had spent time in his life here in Japan she doubted he would.

That was enough of that she shook her head of its depressing thoughts and decided it was time to join her husband. She gathered her things and headed to park around the corner from LME where Kuu was spending the day doing a fan meet and greet. It didn't take her long to arrive and she smiled as she watched her husband talk with such enthusiasm to a crowd of young people, she slowly made her way to him barely noticing how the crowd parted for her. As soon as Kuu noticed her he was up and at her side pulling her into his arms

"hello honey, I was just talking about all the stunts I did in my last movie"

"You mean the ones you suggested the director add because you were sure it would make your character look cooler"

"well I was right it did make him cooler"

"Yes, that it did" she lent into him and gave him a loving kiss.

"do you have much longer to go" she asked softly.

Kuu shook his head "about half an hour and then we can go and have dinner with our boy"

Julie smiled "is he free tonight" Kuu nodded "yes he called me earlier and asked if we would be interested in joining him for dinner around seven."

Julie kissed him again "do you want me to stay here or will you meet me at the room"

"you go ahead darling; I know how long it can take you to pick an outfit for a night out" Julie playfully slapped Kuu's arm and rolled her eyes

"I don't take that long, besides a good outfit can make or break an evening as you very well know"

"ah yes the power of clothes"

Julie smiled at him and left him to his work.

Ren walked around his apartment dressed in a bespoke three-piece suit

"do you need me to bring you anything tomorrow" he asked into his phone as he pulled clothes from his wardrobe and place them in a bag

"just some clothes if that possible, I didn't really bring much with me" replied Kyoko

Ren looked at the clothes in front of him and pulled out a couple of dresses that were mixed with his hanging shirts and pants , he moved to the draws and grabbed a handful of the underwear she had left behind and continued searching the draws for anything that was hers and was slightly surprised and pleased with the amount

"I'll bring what I can, anything in particular"

"hmm, I don't know is my purple top there you know the one with the beads around the neck"

Ren moved around the room and spotted it "yes" he grabbed it and put it into the second bag that was set next to his

"What time will you be getting into Kyoto"

"about eleven"

"will you have a car while you're here?"

"I hadn't really thought about it, why?"

"oh, I was going to ask if you would pick me up from the Fuwa's, but I can just meet you at the station instead"

""Yes of course I'll pick you up" he heard a knock at his front door and made his way to it

"My parents are here" he said as he opened the door

"hi, I'll be just a second. Make yourself comfy" he told Kuu and Julie before turning back to his phone.

"I'll get Yashiro to organize a car and pick you up tomorrow, can you show me the stream again.

"of course, if you want to see it, thank you for picking me up. Now you should go I'm sure Kuu is starving"

Ren looked at his father and nodded "I guess your right he always is I'll see you tomorrow"

"I'm really looking forward to it" Kyoko answered.

"me too" he smiled "goodnight Kyoko"

"goodnight Ren"

He hung up the phone and properly greeted Julie and Kuu, they were both dressed in lovely outfits, he ran a hand over himself and was glad he went for the slightly fancier suit when he dressed earlier.

"I've book us in at 7:30 at fusion if that alright with you guys"

Julie grab his arm "that sound perfect to me, how is Kyoko"

"as well as can be expected, shall we go now maybe get a pre-dinner drink at the bar"

They all agreed and headed out.

It was a quick drive and when they arrived, they were promptly seated and served their first drinks

Julie sipped her Sake Champagne Mojito and watched her son and husband talk casually both drinking their Sake Warriors and felt almost completely content there was only one thing missing well really one person. Its amazed Julie that in the short time she had known Kyoko she had become an important member of her family not just because Kuon loved the girl but in her own right.

A man in a waiter uniform approached the group and placed three menus on the table and checked if they wanted anything, they smiled and waved the man away as they each checked out what was on offer.

"it all sounds lovely" Julie eyes wandered down the menu trying to pick what she wanted

"yes, I've only heard good things about this place, I thought it would appeal to you." Kuon said as he set his menu down.

"Do you think they will mind if I order everything" said Kuu cheerfully

"they may not mind but I would" replied Julie as she shook her head at her husband "so you will only order three things and a dessert"

"but that's so unfair"

"life is unfair" said Julie sweetly she reached over and grabbed Kuu's hand "but darling if your good tonight I'll take you to an all you can eat restaurant in Kyoto"

Kuon laughed "that poor restaurant"

Kuu smirked "I'll have you know that restaurants love me"

Julie smiled

They waved down the waiter and ordered their food.

The evening passed with light-hearted conversation as they slowly ate.

"thank you for coming tonight" Kuon said as the dessert was served "this has been really nice"

"I would say anytime but I suppose that is a little difficult with us living in America and you living here in Tokyo" said Kuu

Kuon paused thoughtfully and took a deep breath before he started "I know I said that I would return home when I had made a name for myself using my own power and I think that I have done that now but I'm sorry I don't think I will be returning to live in America , I have made a life here that I love and I want to continue making it but I also want you both in my life again so I was hoping to maybe organize it so that we see each other at least two times a year once here in Japan and once in America"

Julie smiled sadly and reached over the table to grab Kuon hand "I'm so proud of you Kuon , you have become a fine man and I so glad that you are happy here, I admit I am sad to hear that you won't be coming back home but I'm not surprised,"

"no at this point it would have been more surprising if you told us you were coming to America" Said Kuu and then he nodded at Julie.

"We would love to have those visits and more hopefully as time goes on but two a year will do for now" Julie said softly

"Thank you for understanding" Kuon looked at his parents " I want to thank you for everything, I know I wasn't the easiest child to love and there was a time when I was in a place so dark that I didn't think anyone could love me or that I deserved it ,I was full of bitterness and guilt ,I still struggle with that sometimes when Rick died I truly hated myself , I blame myself for his death and that is something I still need to work on but even with all that I always knew deep down that you both loved me, would do anything for me , you let me go and believed in me , I now know how lucky I am to have that and I'm grateful"

"oh son it wasn't your fault ,no one blames you for what happen with Rick it was a terrible accident , I won't say you didn't contribute to it because we all know that is a lie but you didn't make Rick run after you, he choose to do that because he loved you and didn't want you to be hurt , you weren't driving the car that hit him." Kuu said it his kindest voice

"but I was the reason he was where he was, and I will always have to live with that"

"we all have things we have to live with. You take everything that happens and you make it a part of you ,you learn from it and grow," Julie said as she squeezed his hand "Did I ever tell you about Stvelana, she was a friend, a co-worker and roommate, we started as models together but she had problems I knew about them and helped her get clean and got her in with my modelling agency and for a while we were successful but then things started to change I got jobs and she didn't, she got really depressed and I tried to help her but she slide back into alcohol and drugs ,she was going downhill fast and then one weekend we had a fight and I was offered a gig so I took it ,there was also an opportunity for her to be an extra's but I didn't tell her I just wanted to be away from her so I went and when I got back to the apartment I found her dead, it took me years to stop blaming myself for her death ,wondering if I had been there, if I had told her about the extras they needed could I of stopped it but in the end I had to accept that she made her choice and I had made mine. You can't turn the clock back, but I will always remember her, she is part of me like Rick is part of you." Julie told Kuon.

Kuon nodded "yes, I think I finally understand that .Rick wanted me to be happy and I think it's time that I accept that even if I am a part of the reason he is no longer here he would want me to stop be such a sad dramatic fuck and move forward with my life"

"yes, I agree Rick would be happy to see you moving forward and I know he would love Kyoko." Kuu agreed

Kuon laughed "yes I suspect they would have got on like a house on fire" he took one last bite of the dessert on the table. " I hope you don't mind but I intend to bring Kyoko with me , if I can convince her to come with me when I come to visit , I want to show her all my favourite spots and honestly I don't want to be away from her for that amount of time , I have hated this week without her here and she is only in Kyoto "

"of course Kyoko has to come too" said Julie " and this week has been hard for a lot of reasons , poor Kyoko how her mother could do that to her, I'll never understand that woman" Julie said angrily "I can understand Kyoko needing to be alone but I still don't understand why she went to the Fuwa's and why she is currently working for them."

"It's complicated mum and I can't tell you about it but let's just say that she needed to remove a couple of old dresses from her life to make room for her new ones"

"see honey even Kuon knows the importance of fashion"

Kuu laughed and pressed a kiss to her forehead "he learnt from the best"

"are you one of the new dresses?" asked Julie

"I like to think I am, I very much want to be one of her new dresses, in fact I want to be her favourite dress but even without me she would have had to deal with those old dresses eventually"

"and she won't regret getting rid of those dresses?"

"No, I believe she is doing much better with the dresses gone"

"well as long as she is doing better that all that matters"

They had all finished there food now and they called for the check.

Kuon paid and they made there way out of the restaurant into the fresh night air

"would you like to come back to my place" Kuon asked as they made their way toward the car.

Kuu shook his head "Sorry son but we will have to decline, we need to pack up for Kyoto.

"would you like a lift to your hotel?"

"no, that alright we are not that far from here and the walk would do us good after all that food"

Kuon nodded "well then I guess this is goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow" he reaches over and hugged them.

Kuu wrapped his arm around Julies shoulder as they walked along the riverbank taking in the lights and the smells of this big city

"this was a lovely last night in Tokyo"
