At Castle Black, the horns sounded to announce the arrival of travelers. When Davos, Hayley, Jeff, Roger, and Ruth came through the gates, Brian and Stewie were waiting to greet them in the courtyard.

"You're that guy who works for Stannis, aren't you?" Brian said to Davos. "Where is he?"

"Last time I saw Stannis, he was chargin' into the jaws of death," said Davos. "He commanded me to bring this girl back here."

Stewie recognized Ruth at once. "I remember you. You're one of Meg's friends. Why are you wearing her clothes?"

"The Lannisters made me pretend to be her," said Ruth. "They forced me to marry Ramsay Bolton. But Theon Greyjoy helped me escape."

"He performed an unselfish action?" Stewie said. "That doesn't sound like the Theon I know."

Hayley stepped forward. "My name's Hayley Smith."

"I know your brother Steve," said Brian. "But he's not here right now."

Hayley said, "Meg's mother, Lois, tasked me with finding Meg. I've been following Ruth, thinking she was Meg all this time. Now that I've gotten Ruth to safety, I need to find the real Meg. But I haven't got a clue where to look."

"I think I know someone who might be able to help," Brian said.

He brought her to the room where Gendry was staying. "This is Gendry. He's a friend of Meg's."

"Meg and I were travellin' together for a while," said Gendry. "What do you want to know about her?"

"Do you know where she is now?" Hayley asked.

Gendry didn't know that, but he told her everything he did know about Meg. He recounted their adventures together, and finished by telling how Lois had replaced Beric Dondarrion as the new leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners. "So, she's out lookin' for her daughter now," he concluded.

"Well, since I have no idea where to find Meg, maybe I should try to find Lois again and join up with her," Hayley said.

"She and the BWB are still in the Riverlands as far as I know," said Gendry. "I can take you to the last place I saw them."

Toshi came to the doorway of the room. "A letter just came for you, Brian."

Brian followed Toshi to his old office. Stewie and Ruth were waiting for him there. The letter was on the desk.

This is what it said:

To the traitor Brian Griffin,

You allowed thousands of wildlings past the Wall. You have betrayed your own kind and you have betrayed the north. Winterfell is mine, dog, come and see.

Your false king, Stannis, is dead. I have his magic sword. Come and see.

Your false king's friends are dead. Their heads are upon the walls of Winterfell. Come and see.

I want my bride back. Send her to me, and I will not trouble you or your wildling lovers. Keep her from me, and I will ride north to slaughter every wildling man, woman, and babe living under your protection. You will watch as I skin them alive. Then I will cut out your heart and eat it, and hopefully you'll live just long enough to see me do it.

Love,

Ramsay Bolton, Trueborn Lord of Winterfell

"Aw, he signed it love," said Stewie.

"Please don't send me back to him!" Ruth cried.

"Don't worry. I won't," said Brian.

"I'm bound to be killed sooner or later," Ruth lamented, "If not by Ramsay, then by the real Meg when she finds out I've been impersonating her."

"You'll be safe as long as you're with me," Brian promised. "You know what, Stewie? I think it's time we took Winterfell back."

"I was hoping you'd say that!" Stewie exclaimed.

"But Ramsay's got Gideon Gleeful backing him, and Shelly Marsh, and Bart Simpson," Ruth pointed out.

Brian said, "The Griffins, Boltons, Gleefuls, Marshes and Simpsons aren't the only houses in the north. There's also Glover, Mormont, Tallheart, Testaburger, Mazin, Forrester, Glenmore, Hornwood, Belcher, Goldman, Brown and two dozen more. They wouldn't untie behind Stannis, but I think Stewie and I can get them to unite behind us…"
