October 13
Our second day at the demon slayer village was just as exciting as yesterday.
We all had breakfast together in the dining room of the guest house and Kohaku joined us. After spending quite a bit of time talking, we decided it would be a good time to go down to the training yard for Inuyasha and Kenjiro's fight. But first Inuyasha wanted to go back to our room to grab his tetsusaiga and I went with him.
Once we came into the room I glanced at the mirror on the wall and noticed my hair was sticking up in the side so I started to fix it. Then Inuyasha's arms were around me.
"What are you doing?" he said.
"My hair looks weird."
He kissed my cheek. "No, it doesn't." He put his chin in my neck and we looked in the mirror for a moment; his white hair contrasting with my black hair, his gold eyes, the blush across my face, his arms around my waist holding me so protectively as he always did. "You're as beautiful as always, love."
"You're so sweet, Yasha." I turned to him, took his face in my hands, and kissed him. I had intended for it to be quick but I just can't help getting carried away sometimes when Inuyasha and I kiss. With the way his arms went around my waist and his tongue entered my mouth, I could tell he felt the same way.
"We didn't get to make love last night. I want you," he said against my lips.
I couldn't help the moan that escaped me. We had been too tired to make love last night and this morning so all of the sexual tension was starting to catch up to us. "I want you too." I knew we didn't have time, everyone was waiting for us, but the more we went on I didn't want to stop…
At least until we heard a soft meow.
We turned and saw Kirara standing in the doorway that we had left open.
"So you've come to get us, Kirara?" I said.
"I guess we were taking too long," Inuyasha said.
I gave him a sensual look. "We'll finish this tonight."
When he kissed me, I almost melted into his arms again. "Yes we will."
With that, we went outside to join everyone else.
"Took you long enough," Miroku said with a smirk.
"Shut up," Inuyasha said defensively although he was blushing just as much as I was.
"Are you ready for this?" I asked him as we walked to the training ground.
"I was born ready," he said confidently. "I think I can take on a demon slayer."
Kohaku and Sango exchanged a snide glance. "We'll see about that, Inuyasha," Kohaku said.
We got to the training ground which was about the size of a basketball field. Kenjiro was already waiting for us.
"Ready for our match?" Kenjiro asked, looking just as confident as Inuyasha.
"Hell yeah. Let's do this," Inuyasha said as he pulled out his sword.
The rest of us sat on the bleachers. The two of them stood in the middle of the arena with their sword at the ready. Kenjiro's katana was big and quite dangerous looking. I also wasn't sure what else he had hiding within that demon slayer outfit. He was also a bit taller than Inuyasha. But I'd seen Inuyasha fight more times than I could count so I had a lot of faith in him.
"My bet's on Inuyasha," Miroku said.
"I think Kenjiro will win," Sango said.
"The usual bet?"
"Five bucks," Sango agreed.
I looked at them in shock. "You're making a bet?!"
"Oh sure. We used to make bets all the time back in the day on our Naraku mission," Miroku said casually.
"We also bet a lot on when you and Inuyasha would finally kiss," Sango said.
I was mortified. "Oh my god…"
Meanwhile, Kohaku was in the arena acting as the referee. "Ready? And...fight!"
A loud clang rang out and Inuyasha and Kenjiro's swords collided. I sat on the edge of my seat watching as the two went back and forth. At one moment it seemed like Inuyasha had the upper hand, but then Kenjiro would take advantage of him. The two moved back and forth across the arena with a good amount of jumping, ducking, and rolling involved.
Something happened and they had knocked the swords out of each other's hands. I was right, Kenjiro did have something up his sleeve. There were blades attached to the forearms of his demon slayer uniform which he unleashed and swiped at Inuyasha. Inuyasha dodged them but Kenjiro was quick. Then Inuyasha jumped into the air and came down swiping his claws at Kenjiro and hit him across his arm.
While Kenjiro buckled, Inuyasha used it as an opportunity to grab his sword back. I thought for sure Kenjiro was out but he dodged the tetsusaiga well and used the blades on his arms to deflect it. He had a certain stealthy way of moving that I'd never seen. I guess it was the technique demon slayers used to fight. It was effective and the next thing we knew, Kenjiro had moved them to where he could pick up his sword again.
Their swords collided over and over again and neither of them seemed to be tiring out. In that special demon slayer way again, Kenjiro dodged Inuyasha's attack and found himself behind him. He then jumped forward and knocked Inuyasha over. The tetsusaiga flew out of Inuyasha's hand and to my surprise Kenjiro's foot was in his back and his sword was to his neck.
"Kenjiro wins!" Kohaku said.
Next to me, Miroku sighed and handed his money to Sango who smiled triumphantly.
"Good fight, Kenjiro," Inuyasha said. "Now let me up."
Kenjiro got off him and then pulled him by the hand off the ground. "You put up a good fight, Inuyasha. Halfway through I didn't think I was going to last."
"You caught me slipping," Inuyasha said as he put the tetsusaiga back in its sheath. "But you've gotta teach me that jump move."
"Gladly."
"Alright, who's next?" Kohaku said.
"What do you mean next?" Sango said.
"I mean, who else wants to fight, silly!"
"I'd like to see a brother and sister fight," Miroku said, giving Sango a pointed look.
"What…?" Sango said.
"This outta be good," Inuyasha said as he sat down next to me.
"I'm so out of practice…"
"What about all of that training you do?" Miroku pointed out. "You started up training three times a week again over a month ago."
"Come on, Sango," I encouraged. "You're already dressed for it." She was currently wearing her demon slayer outfit.
Sango finally stood up and picked up her hiraikotsu. "Alright, fine." She handed her baby to Miroku and walked out onto the arena with Kohaku.
Miroku leaned towards Inuyasha. "Wanna bet?"
Inuyasha rolled his eyes and pushed him away. "Nice try."
Miroku sighed. "You're no fun."
Sango and Kohaku faced each other at the center of the arena with their weapons poised.
"I'm not going to go easy on you, little brother," Sango said.
"I wouldn't expect you to, sis," Kohaku said with a smirk.
This time Kenjiro was the referee. "And...fight!"
This fight was just as exciting as the last one. I had no idea who would win. Sango was always an extremely skilled fighter and I'd admired her for that for years. Kohaku was also extremely capable and put up quite a fight against her. Both had a similar fighting style to Kenjiro's and I could tell it was a demon slayer specialty.
At one point, Sango threw the hiraikotsu and Kohaku dodged it and knocked it aside leaving it to land a few yards away from them. Sango then went in with her sword and the fight raged on.
It was so intense I didn't realize I was squeezing the life out of Inuyasha's hand.
"Geez Kagome, calm down."
I loosened up a bit. "Sorry."
I also noticed that Midori and Mieko were absolutely enthralled by this. I was pretty sure they'd never seen their mom fighting this way before and they had stars in their eyes. Even Shinichi sitting on Miroku's lap had his eyes glued to the fight.
In the end, Sango pinned Kohaku to the ground with her hand around his neck and her sword aimed right between his eyes.
"Sango wins!" Kenjiro said.
"Sorry I had to rough you up like that, Kohaku," Sango said playfully. She grabbed his hand and pulled him off the ground.
"You're the master, Sango. I won't deny that I learned everything I know from you."
Once Sango came back over to us Midori and Mieko jumped into her arms.
"Mommy, that was awesome!" Mieko exclaimed.
"You were so cool!" Midori said just as excitedly.
Sango kissed and hugged both of them. "Thank you, my loves."
Miroku chuckled. "Yup, they're definitely going to be demon slayers."
"I think we should get Kagome up here next," Kohaku said.
Now I was surprised to be the one put on the spot. "Why me?"
"So we can teach a little bit of how to fight like a demon slayer," Kohaku said.
Sango joined him again. "I think that would be really fun."
"I don't know how to do anything like that," I said. I'd never had any combat training before. I wasn't nearly as good as any of them and I didn't want to make a fool of myself.
Inuyasha elbowed me. "I think you should give it a shot, baby."
"We should pick out a weapon for you," Kohaku said. There was a wall of weapons nearby and he ran back over to us with a sword. "I think this would be a good fit for you."
"You've got to be kidding me," I said.
Sango grabbed my hands. "Come on, Kagome. Just a little bit. This will be fun."
I trusted Sango so I let her lead me onto the arena. Kohaku handed me the sword. It was much lighter than I expected.
Sango had her own sword in her hand and stood in front of me. "There are the basic foundations that any demon slayer starts out with."
She and Kohaku taught me a few movements and tricks. I had to admit, this was a lot of fun. I pictured myself in my own demon slayer uniform going out with the group on a dangerous mission fighting monstrous demons.
"Alright, now Sango versus Kagome!" Kohaku exclaimed.
"What?!" I said in shock. They really expected me to fight?
"Alright, Kagome!" Inuyasha cheered me on from where he was still sitting with Miroku and the babies.
"Go Kagome!" Miroku added.
I sighed. Leave it to them to not be on my side.
"Don't worry, I'll go very easy on you," Sango said.
I never would have dreamed of taking on Sango in a fight and I knew that she could easily rip me to shreds if she wanted to.
"And...fight!" Kohaku said.
I early panicked as Sango ran at me with her sword. At the last second I remembered what I had been taught and countered her attack. "I thought you were going to go easy on me?!"
"This is easy!" Sango said with a laugh.
She continued to come at me and I fought with her the best I could. The way I swung my sword wasn't exactly clean and my steps were clumsy. But I realized I was holding my own and it was actually kind of thrilling.
"See? I knew you could do it!" Sango said when it was all over. She gave me a hug.
"That was actually kind of fun," I said as we walked over to the bleachers.
Inuyasha kissed me when I sat next to him. "Good job, baby. You're pretty hot when you fight like that."
"How about we all get some lunch?" Miroku suggested.
As I write this, we've just had dinner not too long ago. I'm actually pretty sore from my training session today. I plan on asking Inuyasha to give me a massage tonight.
We're supposed to be going out again very soon. There's a traditional performance that the demon slayers have done for generations depicting their culture and fighting style and they're supposed to be putting it on for us. The demon slayers are just so fascinating to me, I can't wait to see it.
