Two weeks later, Olivia was alone in a hospital operating room crying. The doctors were getting her ready for the anesthesia. Harrison and Karen were in the waiting room. Everything was not okay at her weekly checkup. Two of her babies did not have a heartbeat. Her doctor insisted on emergency surgery and hospital bedrest until her due date. She hadn't spoken with Fitz since their argument. He dropped Karen off at school, and he hadn't called. He wasn't answering his phone. Olivia had no way of letting him know that their baby girls were tangled in the cord. The surviving baby was a boy. His heartbeat was weak, and the doctor didn't know if Olivia would need to deliver in her second trimester. Her blood pressure was high, and the doctor's were worried about Olivia not surviving the operation. They had to take the risk. Two deceased babies in her uterus would cause an infection and there would be complications for Olivia and the baby.

Olivia woke up in the recovery room. Harrison was sitting next to her. Karen was watching a cartoon. Tears spilled from her eyes when she opened them. Harrison dried her cheeks with a Kleenex.

"You're okay Liv."

"My babies are gone."

"Why is mom crying, Harrison?"

"Karen, I want you to get my phone out of my purse and call Grandma. She needs to come get you from the hospital."

"Okay."

"I called Fitz again while you were in surgery. His voicemail is still full. Do you know where he's staying?"

"I don't know. He sold his house."

"There has to be a way we can contact him?"

"You can call Mellie and ask her to call him. He might answer."

"Okay, I'll try that."

"Mom, grandma wants to know why you're in the hospital."

"You can tell her I had a surgery, and she needs to come get you."

"Okay."

Harrison called Mellie and Olivia closed her eyes again. This was a nightmare.
