And so, the next day Brian was there standing in the valley where he had spoken to Ramsay, with his sword in his paw. Brian's supporters stood on the hill behind him, watching, while Ramsay's supporters were on the opposite hill.
And Ramsay came up to him with a sneer in his face and a bow in his hand. Over his black armor, he was wearing a t-shirt with an image of a flayed man.
"Wait, you have a bow and arrows?" said Brian. "I thought we were just going to use swords!"
"Didn't you ever hear the saying, don't bring a sword to a gunfight?" Ramsay chortled.
As soon as the trumpet sounded, the signal for battle fell like a torch. Grinning maniacally, Ramsay fired an arrow at Brian, but Brian was able to put up his shield and block it. He realized he couldn't hope to win unless he knocked the bow out of Ramsay's hands. Holding the shield out in front of him, he started running toward Ramsay.
Ramsay was able to get off two more shots before Brian reached him, but they just bounced off Brian's shield like the first one had. Before Ramsay could fire a fourth arrow, Brian got close enough to smack the bow out of his hands with the shield. Then he slammed the shield into Ramsay's chest. Ramsay fell to the ground.
Before Ramsay could stand up, Brian jumped on top of him and began punching his face. He was surprised to see he was actually getting the better of Ramsay. But it wasn't all that surprising. Ramsay might have had lots of experience torturing prisoners in his dungeons, but he had very little experience with actual hand to hand combat.
Yet even as Brian was beating him to a pulp, Ramsay was still smiling. Brian couldn't figure out why…
Atop the hill, Gideon Gleeful fitted a shaft to his own bowstring. "Time fer the dog t'die!" He drew back his seasoned yew bow to its limit, and sighting expertly down the arrow, he fired at Brian. This was Ramsay's backup plan. He had told Gideon to shoot Brian if it looked like Brian was winning.
Gideon meant to shoot Brian in the head, but hit him in the shoulder instead. Next to Gideon, Bertram smacked his own forehead. "Idiot, you missed!"
Gideon's lip pouted sulkily as he laid another shaft on his bowstring. "I still got 'im," he muttered. "I'll finish 'im off with this next arrow!"
He fired again. Brian was able to dodge the arrow, but he had to roll off of Ramsay. He raised his shield to protect himself as more Bolton archers started shooting at him.
Seeing Brian under attack, Davos ordered the Griffin archers to begin shooting the Bolton archers. This gave Brian a bit of respite as the Bolton troops were forced to defend themselves.
With his face still bleeding, Ramsay jumped back up to his feet and shouted to his troops to charge. The Bolton forces came pouring down their hill into the valley. Brian's army rushed
down their own hill to meet them in combat.
As the two armies charged toward each other, Brian was caught in the middle. He was kicked by a horse and fell down. He didn't know if it had been an enemy horse or a horse belonging to one of his own soldiers. Next instant, somebody fell on top of him.
Soon, Brian found himself buried under a mountain of bodies, both alive and dead. He didn't know which way was up or down. He couldn't see Ramsay anywhere. In fact, he couldn't see much of anything!
Brian feared his end was near and the battle was lost. He could only hope that Stewie would survive…
