After killing Walder Frey, Meg had sliced his face off and turned it into a mask, just as Arya had done to Quagmire.

Now, pretending to be Walder, she had summoned every remaining Frey who had taken part in the Red Wedding to a feast at the Twins.

"I'm sure you're wondering why I brought you all here," she said in Walder's voice. "Well, 'tis no good being lord of the Riverlands if you can't celebrate with your family, that's what I say!"

The assembled Freys started cheering and banging on the tables.

"I've gathered every Frey who means a damn thing so I can tell you my plans for this great house, now that winter has come," Meg went on. "But first, a toast!" Servants came in and began pouring wine in everyone's glasses. "No more of that Dornish horse piss. This is the finest Arbor wine, for proper heroes!"

The Freys cheered even louder.

One servant approached the high table where Meg was sitting with Walder's newest wife, Kitty Frey. The servant was about to pour the Arbor wine into Kitty's goblet, but Meg stopped him. "That wine's too good to waste on a damn woman."

When the Freys had all drank, Meg said, "Maybe I'm not the most pleasant man, I'll admit, but I'm proud of you lot. You're my family, the men who helped me slaughter the Griffins at the Red Wedding."

The Freys responded with the loudest cheer yet.

"Yes," said Meg. "Yes. Cheer. Brave men, all of you, slaughtering your guests after inviting them into your home. But you didn't slaughter every one of the Griffins."

All of a sudden, the Freys started coughing and hacking up blood. Meg ignored their discomfort and continued with her speech. "That was your mistake. You should have ripped them all out, root and stem. Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe! You shoulda killed ALL of the Griffins! You killed Chris, but you didn't kill his sister Meg!"

She reached up and pulled off Walder's face, revealing her own face underneath. "And so, I, Meg Griffin, have taken the liberty of putting poison in all your drinking glasses."

The Freys realized they had been tricked! But there was nothing they could do about it. The poison was working its way through all their bodies. They couldn't move. They couldn't even speak! Helpless, they lay suffocating on their own blood. Meg's face was the last thing any of them ever saw.

Meg turned to Kitty, the only one left alive besides her and the servants. "When people ask you what happened here today, tell them winter came for House Frey."
