Across from the cave dwelling, the white Loth-wolf was spying on Ezra and the others as the white Loth-cat. Limbed onto the wolf's head.

"All right, Ezra, you have our attention now explain what's going on," Hera said as she, Chopper, Zeb, Sabine and Ezra stood around the stone plaque that Ezra got from the Loth-wolves from her vision who got the stone plaque from the Jedi Temple on Lothal.

"This stone came from the Jedi Temple here on Lothal," Ezra told her.

"That's far to the north. How did it get here?" Hera asked her.

"The Loth-wolves gave it to me," she answered, "They think the Empire is doing something terrible there."

"OK, wait, they think?" Zeb repeated with disbelief as he chuckled, "What, did they talk to you?"

"Well, just the one," she replied.

"I wish they told you what these symbols mean," Sabine told her, "But, mmm, maybe I could make more sense of them if I saw the temple up close."

"I agree, Sis, we have to go," Ezra told her, "I don't want the Empire putting their hands all over the Temple."

"So let's stop them. For Kanan," Hera stated.

"There's just one problem. As Hera said, the Temple is far to the north and we don't have a ship," Sabine added.

"I can get us there," Ezra told her and with that, Ezra led everyone outside the cliff dwelling and extended her arm outwards to call the Loth-wolves, who appeared in front of them from a distance before they began walking towards Ezra and the others, "We're ready, can you take us?" Dume nodded a confirmation before leaning downwards for her to hop on his back and Hera climbed onto the back of one of the other wolves.

"Are these things faster than speeders?" Zeb asked.

"Well, they got us here in the first place," Sabine said as she petted another of the wolves' muzzle, "I guess they can get us to the Temple as well."

"I'm just, you know, more comfortable with speeders…" Zeb said as one of the wolves' sniffed him as Sabine walked off and climbed onto one of the wolves, "... 'cause, oh!" He then chuckled, "Oh, uh… Hello, my name is Zeb."

"Zeb, those ones don't talk," Ezra told Zeb as she sat on Dume's back.

"How do you know? It talks, uh, with it's eyes," Zeb remarked before climbing onto the back of the wolf that was standing next to him and the wolves then walked forward.

"Everyone ready?" Ezra asked everyone as Hera placed her goggles from the top of her head onto her eyes, "Here we go." With that, the wolves that Ezra, her sister and Hera were on took off while Zeb's stood still as Chopper approached the wolf, grunting before the wolf picked him up with his mouth, causing Chopper to make a whining sound as the wolf took off, running with the other wolves.

"How far is it to the temple?" Zeb asked Sabine.

"You don't wanna know!" She replied.

"Hold tight!" Ezra said as she turned to everyone and soon after saying that, they phased through the ground as they entered a Hyper tunnel.

"You wanna ride?" Ezra and the others heard Kanan say to Ezra when they first met and before her transformation as they traveled through the Hyper tunnel.

"You don't know us," they then heard Zeb tell Ezra back when she met them back when she was still male.

"And I don't want to," they heard Ezra tell Zeb back when she was still male.

"I lost my way for a long time but now, I have a chance to change things," they then heard Kanan say when he spoke to the Grandmaster of the old Jedi Order,Yoda when Ezra went to get her Kyber crystal back before her transformation.

"We have hope. Hope that things can get better. And they will," they then heard Hera say when she and Ezra just met.

"That was a mistake," they then heard Kanan say when he thought the Grand Inquisitor killed Ezra when they were rescuing him from Grand Moff Tarkin's Star Destroyer, four years ago about a week before Ezra's transformation.

"Why? Because you have no one left to die for you?" They then heard the Grand Inquisitor ask Kanan.

"No, because I have nothing left to fear," they heard Kanan tell the Grand Inquisitor as he held both Ezra's old lightsaber as well as his own.

"This is a new day, a new beginning…" they heard Ahsoka say when they all but Hera just met after saving Kanan before they joined Phoenix Squadron but just before Ezra's transformation.

"There's a cost for any action we take now, Ezra. Things are getting worse just as they did when I was the same age as you before your transformation but back then there were 10,000 Jedi Knights protecting the galaxy. Now…" They heard Kanan tell Ezra after her transformation right after the Empire burned Tarkintown after they failed to escort Minister Tua off Lothal.

"There's just you and me," they heard Ezra finish for Kanan and with that, they soon jumped out of the Hyper tunnel.

Hera moved her goggles off her eyes back onto her forehead as Lothal's sun shines over her eyes that she had to move her hand in front of her eye to block out the sun as she and the others regained consciousness as they saw that it was morning before seeing Ezra standing next to Dume on a cliff in front of them as they climbed off the wolves they were on as Chopper grunted.

"Hey, did you hear those voices?" Sabine asked Zeb as they walked away from the wolves.

"I have no idea what just happened," Zeb answered as the wolf that had Chopper in their mouth let go of the astromech and rolled with the others as they approached Ezra and Dume at the cliff.

"They say the Temple is not far from here just a bit to the northwest," Ezra told her sister, Hera and Zeb, "But we'll have to walk the rest of the way."

"Ezra, how do they do that?" Hera asked her.

"I don't know," she answered as she placed her hand on Dume's muzzle as the wolf walked away from them, "Kanan said they're deeply connected to the Force."

"I'm just glad they're on our side," Zeb remarked.

"They're on Lothal's side," Ezra corrected him.

"Is there a difference, Sis?" Sabine asked her.

"Let's hope not," Ezra answered as the wolves walked away, "We should get moving."

A while later, Ezra and the others reached a cliff above what was the Jedi Temple with Ezra leading them as it was now dark out and saw that it was turned into an excavation site like what Darth Revan and Darth Malak's Sith Empire did to the Valley of the Dark Lords on Morriban which was also called Korriban about 4000 years ago during the Jedi Civil War.

"This is no military operation," Sabine stated as she placed a pair of electrobinoculars over her eyes and saw rodians tat were part of the Mining Guild searching through containers on a table, "What are they searching for?"

"Let me take a look, Sis," Ezra said as Sabine handed her the electrobinoculars and placed them over her eyes, "Wait, the doors, they're both gone. And it looks like one of them have been cut right off the surface."

"Is this really the temple?" Sabine asked her with disbelief, "It looks like solid rock."

"We're in the right place," Ezra confirmed as she removed the electrobinoculars from her eyes, "It must have sealed itself off."

"Any idea what the Empire wants?" Hera asked her.

"No," she answered.

"Well, they've uncovered a lot more artwork. Maybe I can figure out if I get a closer look," Sabine suggested.

"Agreed. You and Ezra go, we'll keep watch from up here," Hera told the twins.

"Look!" Zeb said as he saw two scout troopers on speeder bikes drive out from the excavation site, "You're gonna need a disguise."

"Identify yourself!" One of the scout troopers ordered in a female Imperial accent as she and the other scout trooper stopped their bikes and got up as a hologram of Thrawn appeared in front of them and aimed their blaster pistols at the hologram.

"You misunderstand, Captain I am not accepting surrenders at this time. Now let us proceed," the hologram of Thrawn said, repeating what Thrawn told Hera, shortly before the battle of Atollon.

"What?" The scout trooper said with confusion as Zeb knocked out her partner as he held her partner's helmet in his hand as he knocked her out as well while a hopped came out from behind a rock and grunted a laugh.

A while later, Ezra and placed the scout trooper armor and helmet over their Mandalorian armor before getting onto the speeder bikes and flipped down their helmet's visors as they sped away to the excavation site while Hera, Zeb and a hopped went back towards their hiding place and placed the electrobinoculars over her eyes as Ezra and Sabine reached the inside of the excavation site.

Ezra and Sabine soon parked the speeders with a group of speeders as they entered the excavation site and passed by the rodians and hopped off the speeders.

"Well, they're definitely on to something," Sabine told her sister as they walked past one of the rodian miners and turned to one of the artworks as they walked by it, "There's a language here. Not…" she then flipped open her helmet's visor as she crouched in front of the artwork as she placed her hand on it, "Not much in words, but pictures."

"I saw paintings like these inside the temple," Ezra told her.

"Trooper!" They suddenly heard a male voice call them and Sabine flipped her helmet's visor back down as they turned around to see an elderly man in robe-like clothes walking towards them with two death troopers to both of his sides, "Get away from there at once!" He walked over to the artwork as he crouched towards it, "I've said it before, none of you are to touch the artifacts! The tiniest blemish could erase evidence which is critical to understanding the gateway!"

"Gateway? I mean, yes, sir, sorry, sir," Ezra told the man.

"Minister, Coruscant is contacting you," one of the death troopers told the man.

"This conduct reflects poorly on you, Commander," the minister told the death trooper as he walked away with the other death trooper.

"Yes, Minister," the death trooper said before turning to the twins, "All right, you two numbers and clearance codes, now!"

Ezra then flipped open her scout trooper helmet and waved her and in front of the death trooper, "You don't need our numbers and clearance."

"I don't need your numbers and clearance," the death trooper repeated as Ezra's Jedi mink trick worked on him.

"You're going to forget all about this," Ezra added as she flipped her scout trooper helmet back down as she and Ezra walked past him.

"That was a close one," Remarked as he watched Ezra and Sabine walk away from the death trooper and saw the minister walking with the other death trooper as he handed the electrobinoculars he was using to Hera, "Who's the old man?"

"I don't know," she answered as she removed the electrobinoculars from her eyes after using them to see who the minister was but couldn't find out who he was, "I've never seen an Imperial like him."

"Chopper, I need you to reroute the incoming Imperial transmission," Sabine said, contacting Chopper as she and Ezra walked behind the building that the Minister and death trooper walked into as both twins flipped up their helmets. Chopper grunted a response as he activated his transmitter around.

"I have recently made some remarkable discoveries, my Emperor," they heard the Minister say as Chopper rerouted the transmission so they could hear it.

"We must discover the secrets of the Temple for even now our enemies move against us," they heard the voice of Emperor Sheev Palpatine also known as Darth Sidious say, causing them all to widen their eyes.

"We have reached the roots of the Temple and found some fascinating work," the Minister told a hologram of Palpatine as he sat near a holoprojector in the room with holographic painting surrounding the room, including one with an elderly man, a young woman along with a bald you man standing next to each other, "The symbols and iconography are reminiscent of a report I discovered in the Jedi archives."

"The Mortis Gods?" Palpatine asked.

"Yes, they are key to unlocking the Temple I am sure of it," the Minister confirmed.

"There has been a great disturbance in the Force. The death of Kanan Jarrus has altered the fate of Lothal though how I cannot say," Palpatine told him.

"Perhaps access to the Temple will provide some clarity, my Lord," the Minister suggested.

"We must seize the power within a conduit between the living and dead," Palpatine told him, agreeing with his idea, "Proceed Minister Hydan."

"Hera, did you hear?" Sabine asked, contacting Hera, "What should we do?"

"I don't like it. With the Emperor involved it's too dangerous we should fall back," Hera answered.

"No. Because of the Emperor, we have to get involved," Ezra protested, "We can't let him enter the temple."

"And they'll crack the code," Sabine added, "It's only a matter of time."

"Hera. Remember why we came," Zeb told Hera as she was unsure if they should still do it or not when she suddenly remembered a memory of Kanan as she felt his hand touching her shoulder and touched his in return, making her feel at home as Zeb looked at her with confusion.

"Go, we'll keep watch. But I want you both out of there if I give the order," Hera told the twins as she deactivated her comlink after grabbing it.

"Absolutely," Sabine said in the comlink.

"Thanks, Hera," Ezra replied on the comlink before turning to her sister, "Let's go, Sis."

"They'll be fine," Zeb reassured Hera, "After all, they're both Mandalorians."

"I used to always believe that," Hera muttered.

"Attention. There is a safety hazard zone in standing 25 meters from the temple. Special teams are exempt and look out for static charge," they suddenly heard an Imperial say on an intercom system within the excavation site, "All operational departments signal by beeping twice."

"We are close to our goal. Move the drill into first position. Everyone double shifts, through the night. Mind your assignments and stay within your designation areas," Hydan told stormtroopers and scout troopers, including the twins as they stood behind him as the death trooper that was with him walked next to him, "Turn the floor lights on!" With that, the excavation site's spotlights turned on and mural depicting the Mortis Gods stood in front of them.

"Whoa," Sabine muttered with amazement before speaking to her twin, "You ever seen anything like this before, Sis?"

"Nope, but this Temple is always full of surprises," Ezra answered.

"Lord Hydan we have discovered more symbols," one of the Mining Guild Trandosians said, walking up to Hydan.

"Show me," Hydan requested and with that they walked away to the symbols. With everyone but the twins walking away from the mural.

"Can you make anything out of it?" Ezra asked Sabine.

"Mmm, I think so," Sabine answered before walking towards the mural and flipped her helmet's visor up, "Very old, very intricate. Does any of this mean anything to you, Sis?"

"Well, I've seen a bird like that before," Ezra answered as she pointed at the convor on the young woman's shoulder after flipping her helmet's visor up as well, "Whenever Ahsoka visited us on Atollon it was always nearby." She then noticed wolves on the side of the mural, "And look, Loth-wolves." Sabine saw this and projected a hologram of the stone plaque from the Jedi Temple, "The stone the wolves gave me…"

"Yeah. I thought I would need to refer to it," Sabine confirmed before gasping as she realized that the gestures on the stone plaque were the same as one the mural, "Look! The hands," She stood back up as she powered the projector off, "they're the same on the figures as the ones here on the stone."

"And that means something?" Ezra asked her twin.

"Sis, it's art, everything has meaning," she reminded her as she continued to examine the hand positions of the Mortis Gods, "I think this is it.

"What?" Ezra asked her.

"The painting on the Temple is like a star map, but none that I'm familiar with," Sabine explained, "Those lines are like paths and the rings are planets or… or doorways."

"OK, but which one leads into the Temple?" Ezra asked her.

"We're about to find out," Sabine answered.

"So, how do we open this door?" Ezra asked her.

"OK, look here. The hands represent different configurations," Sabine answered as she powered the projector with the stone back on, causing Ezra to stare fro

The projector back to the hands of the Mortis Gods, "Right now it looks like the painting is lined up with the central figure." She then gasped as she pointed at the hand with its fingers spread out on the hologram of tje stone plaque, "I think we want this one, where the lines are together."

"Great, what happens then?" Ezra asked her twin.

"Well, I don't know," Sabine answered as she powered the projector back off, "It's your turn, now do your thing."

"Right," she said before turning to her with confusion, "Wait, what thing?"

"Whatever you do to open the Temple," she answered.

"Uh, Kanan and I always opened it together. It takes a Master and an apprentice, he said," she told her when they suddenly heard death trooper chatter walking towards them in the distance.

"Well, you're gonna have to think of something and fast," Sabine told her as Ezra continued towards the mural and rubbed her hands together before moving her hands towards the mural, "Hurry!"

"You can't rush these things!" Ezra told her as she placed her hand into the hand of the young woman and closed her eyes as she began to rotate her hand to match the direction the young woman was pointing in as Sabine watched as a stormtrooper ordered one of the rodians to move away after showing them an artifact that they've found.

"Get down!" Sabine ordered as she flipped her helmet's visor back down and with that, Ezra leaned between rocks below the mural.

"LS-515, why aren't you on patrol?" A stormtrooper asked Sabine as he walked over to her with another stormtrooper.

"I thought I heard something over here but um, it was just the shadows," Sabine answered, pretending to be LS515.

"That's a restricted area," one of the stormtroopers told her.

"I was just following protocol, sir, code 6-1-1-0," Sabine told him.

"That's a military code. This operation is classified under directive AT-1-4," the stormtrooper added.

"My mistake," Sabine apologized.

"You should have been informed about the new directive," the stormtrooper told her.

"The stone… Listen to the stone and its story," Ezra muttered to herself as she looked up at elderly man in the mural.

"This is all very irregular. We're gonna have to call it in," the stormtrooper told Sabine as Ezra got out from hiding below the mural.

"If you do that, I'll be late for my assignment," Sabine protested as the stormtrooper placed his finger on his helmet's comlink.

"Like you said, we're just following protocol," the stormtrooper explained as Ezra placed her hand back on the hand of the young woman.

"515, affirmative. Copy that, over," the stormtrooper said as he finished communicating on his helmet's comlink.

"I don't have time for this," Sabine told him.

"Operation says you and LS-412 deviated from your patrol route and never finished the perimeter sweep," the stormtrooper told her.

"Let's go over to operations and straighten this out," Sabine said as she walked away.

"Great. Now we're both gonna have to file a report," the other stormtrooper complained as they walked away with Sabine.

"Listen… Kanan said to listen " Ezra muttered to herself as she closed her eyes and rotated her hand around in the same direction the young woman's hand was pointing before opening her eyes as the circle around the hand on the mural turned gold as the lines and circles that were cut in half on the mural lined up with one another before every line and circle on the mural shined gold for a second.

"We are the ones who guard the power. We are the middle, the beginning, and the end," the young woman on the mural said as she turned her head to the other two figures as the old man moved his arm downwards to point at the young man as the Loth-wolves on the mural came to life and howled before walking to her right across the mural as she flipped her helmet's visor back down as she went to follow them.

"Sabine is going with the troopers," Hera reported to Zeb as she remove the electrobinoculars from her eyes as she saw Sabine walking with two stormtroopers.

"Have they found her out?" Zeb asked her.

"I don't think so…" Hera answered.

"What about Ezra?" Zeb asked.

"I can't tell," Hera answered as she placed the electrobinoculars back over her eyes, "She went into the shadows, but I think…"

"What?" Zeb asked.

"I think the painting moved?" She answered with disbelief as she removed the electrobinoculars from her eyes.

"All right, hand those over," Zeb said as he took the electrobinoculars from her and placed them over his eyes, "You've been staring through them too long."

As she continued to follow the wolves, Ezra flipped up her helmet's visor again as the wolves began to form a circle as they ran towards one another within the circle as she removed the helmet from her head, "This is it."

"Uh, what have we here?" Hydan asked the two stormtroopers that were approaching him with Sabine after inspecting an artifact that a rodian found with a datapad.

"Minister, we're bringing this trooper in for processing. There seems to be a discrepancy," one of the stormtroopers replied.

"Indeed," Hydan said as he walked up to Sabine and flipped open her helmet's visor up, "Who are you and where is your friend?" She didn't answer as she didn't want to tell him that Ezra wasn't just her friend but her sister as well and didn't want to put her in danger as she kept quiet, "Restrain her! Lock down the perimeter. Order all units to report in, we have an imposter loose on site!"

"Gotta move!" Hera told Zeb as the excavation site's alarms went off and walked away before the lights could spot them.

Ezra placed her hand on the wall around the circle before her hand phased through the wall before pulling it back out, causing an electrical shock to go through her from the portal.

"Intruder in sector three grid two," she suddenly heard a voice say on the excavation site's intercom as one of the spotlights shined over her.

"There she is!" A stormtrooper said as he approached her aiming his blaster rifle at her as two death troopers aimed their blaster rifles at her as well as other stormtroopers surrounding her, aiming their blaster rifles at her as well as Hydan walked towards her with the stormtroopers that restrained Sabine behind him with Sabine in their custody.

"The gateway!" Hydan exclaimed.

"Go, Sis!" Sabine ordered her twin.

"Stop her!" Hydan ordered the stormtroopers as Ezra entered the gateway and as the stormtroopers approached the gateway, it stopped rotating as they charged towards it, causing them to fall to the ground after hitting hard solid rock, causing Sabine to widen her eyes with shock, fearing that she unintentionally sent her twin sister to her death.
