The Pharaoh vs the Quiet One Part 1
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"Two more Locator Cards in the bag, thanks to Weevil I only need two more before I make it to the finals." Daisuke said, looking at the newly won Locator Cards in her hand as she walked through Battle City with Tea, Solomon, Tristan, Willis, and Kari.
"You said it Dai, you sent that roach Weevil packing." Tristan praised smiling at his friend.
"That is right, plus I won his rarest card too. The Insect Queen." She replied, looking at the new monster card in her hand. "Oh, that reminds me." She pulled out her deck of cards before she removed the Parasite Paracide card from her deck. "Won't be needing this anymore."
"Good call. You wouldn't want to have had that card still in your deck when you duel again." Willis said, watching as his friend slipped the card into her backpack to deal with later.
"I'm really proud of you Dai, you defeated two top duelists who both turned out to be major cheaters." Kari added.
"Why do I attract that sort of attention, did I break a mirror or something?" Daisuke asked, looking to the sky for an answer before Solomon laughed.
"It's good practice, dueling Espa Roba and Weevil have taught you to be prepared for anything. You're on your way to becoming an experienced duelist." He told the girl with a smile.
"I suppose you're right. Eat your heart out Yugi." She said, laughing for a moment while Tea looked away with a worried expression.
"I just hope Yugi's safe, wherever he is." She thought. Willis and Kari shared a look before Willis cleared his throat making the others look at him.
"Well we should be heading off; I still have Locator Cards to win and I won't have much luck hanging around you guys." He explained.
"And I'll go with him too." Kari added, looking to Willis with a smile. "If that's okay." She said and he nodded.
"Alright, good luck Willis." Daisuke said, holding her hand out to him he grinned and shook it, before grinning mischievously and pulling her in to kiss her on the cheek.
"For good luck." He told her, her face blushed bright red as the blonde ran off laughing with Kari chasing him.
"Oh, bet Kaiba won't take too kindly to competition." Tristan muttered to Tea, the girl snorting into her hand to avoid laughing. "Okay guys, we still need to find Yugi and Daisuke needs another challenger."
"Right, let's get moving." Daisuke said, the group of four walking off together. "My friends are so awesome." She thought before she stopped, looking down at her birthmark she felt it burning again causing her eyes to narrow as she glanced around but she saw nothing at the moment.
"Hey Dai, what's wrong?" Tristan asked, noticing she had stopped walking.
"I thought I saw something." She answered, looking around another time before following her friends. Just before a man with dark shaggy hair stepped out of an alleyway wearing the Rare Hunters outfit, the glowing eye appearing on his forehead.
"Follow them my mind slave, we will have need of them soon." The voice of Marik echoed in his mind, the figure obeying his master's commands and following the group from a distance.
Meanwhile out at sea, a large boat sailed towards Domino. "The time has come for my arrival. Everything seems to be in place, but before I set foot in Battle City, I have one more task to complete. And then if all goes to plan, the power of the Pharaoh will be mine." Marik said, standing at the bow of the ship, his Millennium Rod in hand.
"Master Marik, is it time? The Quiet One waits." One of his Rare Hunters said standing behind him.
"Yes. I'll control his mind and destroy Yugi Muto, then I'll claim his Millennium Puzzle as my own." He answered, holding his Millennium Rod up as it glowed, he smirked. "Awaken my Mind Slave."
Somewhere in Battle City, the Quiet One stood on a bench holding the same pose he had held for many days when suddenly the glowing eye appeared on his forehead. "Now find Yugi Muto!" Marik's voice echoed inside his empty mind, he pulled a duel disk out of his back on his hips and put it on before jumping off the bench and running off in search of Yugi. "I'll use one of my two Egyptian God Cards to devastate him!"
In another part of the city, Yugi was standing by a river that ran under a bridge looking at his reflection as Yami appeared beside him. "Marik keeps talking about taking the power of the Pharaoh for himself, but you are the Pharaoh. If you had all this power, don't you think we would have heard about it? And you must have this power if you saved the world with it, but what happened?" he asked Yami.
"It's all still unclear to me." The spirit replied.
"Well, we know that Marik's family has been protecting your tomb for years and suddenly he got this crazy idea that he deserved to be the Pharaoh instead of you. I'll do everything I can to make sure Marik doesn't get away with it." Yugi said, looking down at the Millennium Puzzle. "Destiny brought this puzzle to me, and even though I didn't know it when I first put it together I was meant to have it, now you and I are bonded forever and no matter what I'll help you save the world again."
"Thank you Yugi, your friendship means a great deal to me. I've said it before and I will say it again, you have the heart of a Pharaoh." Yami praised the boy, he then turned his head while Yugi smiled at him. "I sense a darkness coming." He warned before vanishing.
"But I don't see anything." Yugi replied, looking around before hearing laughter and turning to see the Quiet One jumping off the bridge in front of him, sliding down the embankment.
"I've found you Little Yugi!" he shouted once he stood before the boy.
"Marik!?" Yugi exclaimed, glaring at the mind slave who smirked.
"Exactly. Meet my mind slave, Strings the Quiet One, though he does not talk much anymore. Poor soul lost his voice due to…shall we call it an unfortunate accident." The Quiet One said, only Marik's voice being heard from his mind slave.
"Coward!" Yugi shouted.
"We will duel soon Little Yugi. Until then why should I waste my time when I can duel you through my mind slaves. Battling with the power of my Millennium Rod is no different than you using your puzzle to duel." Marik replied.
Yugi's Millennium Puzzle glowed brightly and Yami quickly took over and his jacket now hung around his neck by a thick cord. "That's not true, you force your servants to due your bidding by controlling their minds against their will. I duel with respect and honour."
"And I will do what is necessary to claim what is rightfully mine." The Quiet One replied with a blank expression.
"To do that you have to defeat me Marik and break the heart of the cards and I can assure you that won't happen." Yami said.
"You call yourself a Pharaoh, you don't even know how to use your powers. So, destiny has chosen me to take the power of the Pharaoh away from you, and then destroy you."
"That ancient power isn't yours to take Marik." Yami told him.
Meanwhile, as the duel between Yami and the Quiet One was about to begin Ishizu stood in the room with the stone carvings in the museum looking at them as she felt her Millennium Necklace tingle. "The wheels of fate are in motion, Yami now battles my brother. And though my brother walks the path of evil, I know that he can be saved, but before that can happen, he must first fail on his path." She said softly.
She then tensed and felt a cold chill creep up her spine as she felt an evil presence just outside the museum. Outside the building, Bakura stood at the steps holding his Millennium Ring as it glowed, pointing at the building. "So, you've led me here. Another Millennium Item is inside, soon all seven will become mine."
He entered the building following his Millennium Ring towards the location of the other Millennium Item it was detecting, he walked into the room with the stone carvings when the ring stopped glowing. "What's this, the energy is gone!?" he questioned in shock before looking up and seeing the stone carvings. "The Pharaoh's tablets are here, it's been a long time since I've laid eyes upon these stone carvings, but I'm sure once I obtain the seven Millennium Items I can unlock the shadow magic it depicts."
Just outside the room, Ishizu was listening to Bakura and she had a look of concern. "This person has some knowledge of the ancient scriptures but doesn't know all. For my brother seeks a power far more dangerous." she said softly thinking back to when her brother stole the Winged Dragon of Ra card from its secret hiding place. "Only my brother's failure can save him. He must not succeed, or the entire world will be in jeopardy. The true pharaoh is the only one who can stop him." She thought.
"Once I am victorious the Millennium Puzzle will be hanging around my neck at last. Then I can focus on stripping Kaiba of the third Egyptian God Card, once I have all three I'll combine their strength and in accordance with the ancient scriptures I'll drain the power of the Pharaoh himself, soon nothing will stand in my way Battle City and the world will tremble at my feet." Marik said as he could see Domino City in the distance.
"Your plan will never work Marik." Yami told him as he glared at the Quiet One.
"But it already has, I've drawn you into a duel you cannot possibly win, it's all over for you Pharaoh." He replied.
"Alright Marik, no more talk!" Yami said, sliding his deck into his duel disk just as the Quiet One did the same before both their duel disks launched the holo-projectors off to the sides.
"You and your mind slave will never win my puzzle Marik!" Yami said as the Quiet One went first, drawing a card first.
"I disagree. And now, I set one card face down, and play this monster in attack mode. Meet Humanoid Slime!" the face down card appeared in front of him first, followed by the monster which was a humanoid being made of blue slime with a scythe like weapon on its left arm and a giant right hand, it had an Attack of 800 and a Defence of 2000.
Yami's turn then began, he drew a card and looked at Marik's monster. "Since he set a weak monster, I bet he wants me to attack, then he'll use that face down card to destroy my monster. There is no way I'm falling for that." He thought.
"I too set a card face down, then I summon Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts in attack mode." His face down card appeared, before Gazelle appeared and roared loudly. "A stronger beast than yours." Yami told the Quiet One.
"Yes, your monster may be almost twice as strong as mine, but don't be so confident that your Gazelle will prevail it takes more than strength to win a duel." His opponent replied.
"I'm well aware of that."
"Then don't be surprised when my Humanoid Slime destroys your monster." The Quiet One said, earning a small smirk from Yami.
"I'd like to see you try Marik." He replied, his opponent drew his next card and looked at it.
"Very well, I summon Worm Drake in attack mode." He said, the monster appeared on the field looking like a giant worm, with a mouth full of sharp teeth and an eyeball attached to its tongue. It had an Attack of 1400 and a Defence of 1500 and it roared at Yami. "Now watch what happens when I activate my magic card, time for Polymerisation I'll use it to fuse my monsters into a diabolical new creation."
The two monsters glowed and spun around each other as they fused into a new being. "Say hello to Humanoid Worm Drake." He introduced his new monster which had Humanoid Slime's upper body and arms, two wings on its back, the head a mixture of both Humanoid Slime and Worm Drake's heads and its lower body was Worm Drake's body. "It's 2200 attack points are more than enough to destroy your Gazelle, as well as a portion of your life-points."
"When you fuse two monsters together you must wait one turn before you can attack, I'm afraid you've left yourself wide open Marik." Yami said.
"Rules are meant to be broken Pharaoh, and my face down card will help me do that." The Quiet One said, he pressed a button on his duel disc activating the card. "The Quick Attack magic card."
"You can attack now!" Yami shouted as the Quiet One chuckled.
"Very perceptive. This magic card allows my monster to attack the same turn it was formed. You've underestimated me as a duelist, so now you must pay the price and watch as I destroy your Gazelle and move one step closer to relieving you of your puzzle forever, I'm afraid you're no match for me Pharaoh. Now my creature, destroy his Gazelle before his very eyes." He commanded and the fusion monster rushed Yami's monster.
"Hold on Marik!" Yami shouted, activating his own face down card which glowed brightly. "Activate De-Fusion!"
"Oh, so you knew my plan all along?" The Quiet One questioned as his fusion monster split apart into the two monsters which created it.
"Yes, once you played a monster as weak as Humanoid Slime, I knew then and there that you were luring me to attack it Marik." Yami replied.
"And I thought you fell for it." The Quiet One said.
"That is exactly what I wanted you to think, but it was really I who was luring you to use your hidden magic card so that I could reverse it. I was hoping for a far more challenging duel from you, but so far, you've only disappointed me." Yami replied, the Quiet One slumped for a moment before smirking.
"This duel is far from over." He told the Pharaoh.
"You won't win my Millennium Puzzle if you continue dueling like that." Yami told him.
"It seems you are as smart as they say you are, but that last turn was only a test. I will not be denied my victory or your puzzle." Marik said.
"You will if you keep making amateur moves!" Yami cautioned him, the Quiet One simply smirked.
"You will witness my true skills in due time, and when I defeat you, I'll become Pharaoh and banish you to the Shadow Realm, soon you will bear witness to the power of my Egyptian God Card, the likes of which you have never seen before. Your puzzle and your power will soon be mine." He promised Yami.
"Only if you win." Yami reminded him, he drew his next card and saw it was a powerful one. "Buster Blader is too powerful to waste on his weaker monsters, but I'm sure it'll come in handy once Marik plays something more powerful, until then I'll keep it in my hand." He thought before he made his move.
"I summon Beta the Magnet Warrior in Attack mode, destroy his Worm Drake!" he commanded, his monster appeared on the field before firing its attack from its hands sending a bolt of energy at Worm Drake destroying it, the Quiet One's life-points dropped to 3700. "And next Gazelle, destroy his Humanoid Slime!" Gazelle roared, charging the monster, and cutting through it with ease destroying it and the Quiet One's life-points fell to 3000.
"Very impressive dueling, but if you think that worries me then think again. This duel is about to become interesting." The Quiet One told Yami, he then drew his next card and looked at it. "The card I just drew is unlike anything you've seen before, it's a monster that simply cannot be destroyed. It is a shapeless being made completely of plasma, no solid mass making it completely indestructible and the perfect defence against enemy attack. I summon Revival Jam, in defence mode."
Yami looked on as the monster formed on the field, a giant blob of plasma that took the shape of a ghost, it had 1500 Attack points but just 500 Defence points. "Just try to destroy it, you will fail." The Quiet One told him.
"It looks weak to me Marik." Yami replied.
"Oh, does it, then allow me to play this magic card." The Quiet One said, playing the magic card with a smirk. "The Jam Breeding Machine." He said, the giant machine appearing beside Revival Jam and it hissed into action as it began to create something. "This card will create me one new monster every one of my turns for as long as it's on the field, creating creatures I call Slime Tokens."
"Your plan is obvious; you're going to produce plasma monsters until you have enough to sacrifice to summon your Egyptian God Card." Yami said.
"Very impressive Pharaoh, too bad you can't stop me. When my Jam Breeding Machine creates three Slime Tokens, I'll have enough to summon the monster that will bring about your ultimate destruction." The Quiet One told him.
Yami's turn began and he drew his next card. "Now is the perfect time to summon my Buster Blader to destroy his life-points before he has enough Slime Tokens to summon his Egyptian God Card." He thought. "I'll now sacrifice my two monsters to summon a stronger one," he said as both Gazelle and Beta the Magnet Warrior glowed vanishing in a blinding flash of light.
"My all-powerful Buster Blader has more than enough attack points to destroy your Revival Jam and take out more than half your life-points." He told the Quiet One as his monster appeared, a tall figure in light purple and gold armour hefting a large sword on his shoulder standing in front of Yami with 2600 Attack points and 2300 Defence points.
"Your monster's attack strength is more than impressive pharaoh, but it still won't be enough against my Revival Jam." The Quiet One told him.
"We'll see soon enough, Buster Blader attack!" Yami shouted, his monster nodded jumping towards Revival Jam and slashing through it with ease, splattering the plasma being all over the area. "Your monster has been splattered."
"Has it?" his opponent asked, watching with a thin smirk as the pieces of Revival Jam came to life and began reassembling.
"It's reforming!" Yami said in shock, earning a chuckle from the Quiet One.
"Surprised? I told you my Revival Jam employed the perfect defence. Even the most powerful sword cannot defeat my plasma monster, it will always reform itself." He explained.
"So, I can't attack?" Yami asked.
"You can, it just won't work." The Quiet One answered, laughing in the face of Yami. "Revival Jam will protect my life-points, while my Jam Breeding Machine continues to create monsters for my ultimate sacrifice."
"Then I need to find another way to wipe out his life-points, and fast." Yami thought.
"Your dueling days are almost over, soon my Jam Breeding Machine will have enough monsters to sacrifice. Then comes your worst nightmare, my Egyptian God Card!" The Quiet One told him, looking at the card in his hand. "It is my turn now, activate Jam Breeding Machine, creating the first of three Slime Tokens needed for my sacrifice." He said.
His machine whirred into life before a smaller plasma creature appeared floating in front of it, only with 500 Attack points. "I also set one card face down, only two turns left." He told Yami, setting the card he had just drawn.
"I may be unable to attack you directly, but I can still defeat you. You say you need three Slime Tokens to sacrifice to summon your Egyptian God Card, but what happens if I destroy them first? Your Slime Tokens are defenceless against my Buster Blader, I can take them out with no resistance and because they are so feeble when Buster Blader destroys one of them, you'll lose over 2000 life-points, so in just two turns you will be defeated." Yami told him. "Buster Blader attack now!"
"Or don't. Reveal trap card, Jam Defender." The Quiet One said, activating his face down card. Buster Blader swung his sword down towards the Slime Token, only for Revival Jam to jump in the way being destroyed instead.
"Revival Jam, shielded your monster!" Yami exclaimed.
"Exactly, and as long as Revival Jam stays in defence mode the Jam Defender card forces it to absorb all of your attacks which means all of your attacks will be blocked." The Quiet One explained, Revival Jam reformed itself back on the field. "I knew you would attack my Slime Tokens in an attempt to stop me summoning my Egyptian God Card, so I protected them with an indestructible force."
"Now another beast to sacrifice. Meet Slime Token number two." He continued as another Slime Token appeared on the field.
"I've got to stop this." Yami said.
"I'm afraid there is very little you can do, but just to be sure. I think I will play this magic card. Nightmare Steel Cage." The Quiet One said, activating the magic card and pillars of flame shot out of the ground around Yami and his Buster Blader before the flames curved around the two and solidified into a steel cage. "Now you're unable to attack for two full turns, being able to do nothing but watch as I summon the most powerful force ever seen to annihilate you." He told Yami with a laugh.
"Soon the Millennium Puzzle and the Pharaoh's power will be mine forever!" Marik thought, awaiting his victory while his Millennium Rod glinted in the sunlight and he let out a laugh of victory.
