October 14

I got Inuyasha to give me that massage last night.

After I finished writing we went to see the demon slayer performance and it was so good. The children were very excited by it and Sango watched with so much joy on her face. She said it had been years since she'd seen this and it warmed her heart that these traditions were being kept alive.

I also spoke with some of the demon slayers afterward. Many had a similar story to Kenjiro's where they had heard stories of or had seen the demon slayers in action before and admired them. They were devastated when they heard what Naraku had done but they jumped at the opportunity to be part of the new demon slayer group and were honored to rebuild the village.

That evening we went back to the guest house. Miroku and Sango put the children to bed and the four of us sat on the back porch with some sake to talk for a while.

"This trip has been so much fun," I said as Inuyasha and I went into our room afterwards.

"Yeah, it's been great." He took his sword out of his belt and leaned it against the wall next to the bed. "They've changed so many things since I was last here."

"When were you last here?"

"About a year ago. Miroku and Sango come pretty often though. The girls love it."

"I'm sure they'll end up being demon slayers."

"I don't doubt that."

I lay down on the bed on my stomach. "I'm so sore."

"From the training? Really?" I could just hear the smirk in his voice. He sat on the bed next to me.

"Look, I don't go running around taking out demons with my wind scar every other day. Besides, it's been a long time since I was running around Japan fighting all the time."

"Well I will say, you did look pretty damn sexy out there," he said as he started to rub my shoulders.

"Really?"

"Definitely. But then again, I've always thought you looked like a beautiful warrior whenever you were fighting," he said as he started to move his hands down my back. The massage was really working to ease the tension in my muscles and his words warmed my heart. "All those times you came in and saved my ass, my first thought was always that you're so gorgeous."

"I had no idea you thought that back then," I said. "I always thought you were so hot back then too. I wish I had said it sooner."

"You can tell me now."

I giggled and sat up to look directly at him. "Inuyasha, you're so hot."

He laughed and kissed me. "You're so damn hot, Kagome," he said against my lips.

As we continued to kiss, the intensity built between us. I pulled him down onto the bed with me. He rolled on top of me. I let out a cross between a moan and a laugh and he smiled against my lips. The next thing we knew we were taking off our clothes and the rest of the night was really romantic.

But anyway, on to today. We were hanging out in a park in the village. The girls were playing demon slayer and pretending to fight like Sango. Between laughing at how adorable they were, Sango and Kohaku were telling us more stories of the old days with the demon slayers.

"So we went out and it was just the three of us; Kohaku and I and our father," Sango said. "And the next thing we know, 8 year old Kohaku has disappeared."

"I was just wandering around," Kohaku said with a shrug.

"He gave us quite a scare."

"And then a demon appears. Granted it was just a small worm demon but I was freaking out and I was all alone and I didn't know what to do. While I was panicking, I closed my eyes and randomly threw my spear."

"And that was how Kohaku killed his first demon," Sango said.

"That's pretty impressive, Kohaku. You killed a demon with your eyes closed," Inuyasha joked.

"Father just knew he would be a great demon slayer after that," Sango said. "I wish he was here to see everything."

Miroku put his arm around her shoulders. "I know he would be very proud, my love." A smile formed on her face at that.

All of a sudden a horn went off. Sango and Kohaku exchanged a concerned look.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"That usually means there are demons in the village," Sango said. She was looking around trying to find the danger but there was nothing apparent to us.

Suddenly, we saw Kenjiro running towards us. "There are snake demons entering the village! There are a lot of them!"

Sango stood up and was all ready with her hiraikotsu out of reflex but then she turned to the children, them being her number one concern.

"I'll take the children inside," I said to her. "We'll be fine."

She kissed her babies and then gave me a grateful smile. "Thank you, Kagome."

They ran off but Inuyasha stayed by my side. "You go, I know they'll need you too," I said to him. "There are no demons around here, we'll be fine."

Inuyasha hesitated for a moment but finally said, "Fine, but stay inside." He kissed me and then took off.

I took the children into the nearest building and sat with them to play a game. I could hear the sounds of the fighting getting closer but it was still faint enough that I could tell they weren't near. I continued to play with the children to distract them from it but they were still perceptive.

"Auntie Kagome, where did mommy and daddy go?" Midori asked.

"Remember how mommy was play fighting with Uncle Kohaku yesterday?"

"Yes."

"It was so cool!" Mieko said.

I giggled. "Yes, it was. And that's what they're doing now. That's what demon slayers do. They fight and protect people."

Some more time passed and I started to get kind of worried. I know Kenjiro said there had been a lot of snake demons but they had all been gone for a long time. I wished I had gone with them but someone needed to stay behind with the children.

I heard some noise outside and I thought it was everyone coming back.

Then one of the snake demons burst through the wall!

The girls screamed. Shinichi started crying. Then another one came through the window and another came through another wall. I didn't know where these things were coming from but I immediately got in front of the children. I had my bow and arrows with me and I wasted no time loading one up and shot the nearest snake. I got the other ones and then I turned to the girls.

"See, little ones? They're all gone now."

Suddenly Midori screamed again and pointed to the ceiling.

I still don't quite know how I reacted so fast but I shot another arrow just as the snake coming in from the ceiling was just a couple feet away from devouring my face.

The demons were gone and things were quiet now. Just when I thought it was all over the door burst open and I had another arrow ready to go. Just as I was about to shoot it, I realized it was Inuyasha.

"Kagome!"

"Inuyasha, you're back!" I said putting down the arrow.

"I heard screams and I came as fast as I could," he said. "Are you okay?"

"We're fine," I said as I picked up Shinichi who was still crying. "We had a few unexpected visitors, but they're gone now."

"Good," Inuyasha said. He came over and kissed me then he bent down to the twins. "Are you okay, girls? Did you keep Auntie Kagome safe?"

That seemed to lift their spirits a bit.

"Yeah we did," Midori said.

"Did we do good?" Mieko asked.

Inuyasha chuckled. "You did very good."

Again the door burst open and Miroku and Sango came in. Sango ran over to us. "My babies!" She ran over and hugged the girls and I handed her Shinichi who had by now stopped crying.

"What happened here?" Miroku asked, noticing the holes in the walls and ceiling.

"We had a few demons try to slip in," I said.

"We protected Auntie Kagome!" Mieko said proudly.

"That's amazing, my dears. I'm so proud of you," Miroku said.

"Thank you for taking care of them, Kagome," Sango said as she rocked her baby.

"No problem. It wasn't that bad," I said. "How did things go out there?"

"Those things had some nerve trying to attack us," Inuyasha said. "They were easy to fight but there were just so many of them."

Luckily the rest of our day went by without any other incident. We leave the demon slayer village tomorrow. This trip has been such a blast and I'm really going to miss it here.
