1950s

The Yugoslavia house is calm. Everyone does their own business when the phone rings. They are informed that their boss is coming with an important announcement. Curious, the 7 nations line up to welcome him.

Bros Tito arrives shortly, dresses to impress and with a cigar in his hand. With one hand in his pocket, he walks over to them and says: "I suppose you are all wondering why I came here. Well, the answer is simple. We have somewhat stabilised on the internal plan, now it's time to focus our attention to the exterior. We can really use a few good allies now."

Croatia puffs: "Yeah definitely." The others mumble agreeing.

"I'm glad we are on the same page" Tito says as he takes a smoke. "So I decided to go on an diplomatic tour and I want to take one of you with me."

"Where are you going?" Macedonia asks.

"Africa."

As soon as he says this, the nations start to groan. "Why there? If you're looking for allies, why not look West?" Croatia says.

"Like that won't anger the Soviets even more" Serbia adds concerned.

"My dear comrades, please remain calm. If we keep going back and forward between the two blocks, we will never achieve anything more than being ping pong balls for their political games. That is why I am going to Africa. There are plenty of countries that share this sentiment...Now who wants to come with me?" Tito says observing them carefully.

Slovenia fidgets with his hair. "I'm actually busy." Montenegro and Croatia do not seem willing. Macedonia raises her hand timid. Tito glances at her and announces: "Serbia! How about you?"

The female nation blinks confused. "Why me?"

"Why not you?" he continues opening his arms. "You are the strongest in the bunch and the most well known. I'm sure you'll make a great impression."

The others scowl. "If you already decided, then why did you ask us?" Montenegro mutters.

Serbia ponders. "I guess I could. I mean, it's a good opportunity to stretch my legs" she says not overly zealous. Tito taps her on the shoulder smiling. "Excellent. Wear something awe-inspiring but sombre and act appropriately. We leave at dawn." She wrinkles her nose but says nothing as he leaves the house.

Next scene: A few days later. In Egypt. The Yugoslav delegation is welcomed by president of Egypt Gamal Abdel Nasser along side his nation in the national attire of the time. The two nations shake hands. Nasser and Tito greet each other like old friend. "I'm happy to see you again. How was your trip?" Nasser says.

"A little bumpy but good. And how are you? How are the Brits and the French treating you?" Tito asks. Nasser exhails shaking his head."Everything is an improvement from the 1956 crisis."

As the two leaders talk, the nation of Egypt turns to Serbia and says: "You should have seen it. When I told them that I will nationalise the Suez Canal, they looked as if they were ready to shred me into peaces (we see a dark background as Britain and France stare at poor Egypt from a height. As he announces his decision slightly timid, the expression of the two changes from cold to malicious. They try to grab him with their giant hands, looking so scary that the animator would be forgiven if he drew them with horns and sharp teeth).

"I know what you mean. It's a good thing America and the Soviet Union stopped them" Serbia replies sympathetic. Egypt nods and turns his head towards Israel. Serbia looks too. With their long vision, they see her hammering nails while kneeling. "Still, they left, but she didn't" he says resentful. Yelling, he indirectly addresses the far away nation: "You'd think that after such tragedies happening to her abroad that she would appreciate peace more than anyone else and avoid bloodshed like the plague!"

Israel yells back from over the canal: "Don't act so innocent! You're the one who attacked me first!" Egypt ignores this leaving Serbia in an awkward position. "Can't you guys just get along?" she says sick of even the idea of another war.

"I'm happy that you agree" Nasser says to Tito smiling. "Agree? I love the idea" her boss replies delighted. She tilts her head confused. "Delighted about what?" she asks as they walk to the banquette. Tito smiles and pulls out a cigar. "I'll tell you all about it later" he says with a wink.

Next scene: "Next stop was sub-Saharan Africa" we hear our protagonist speaks while watching a row of cars pass a newly built road. As the heat inside the car is unbearable, Serbia pops her head through the window. She sees local construction workers making concrete and operating heavy equipment. Inside the cities, new apartment building were being built.

Tito, who is next to her, observes the unique type of balconies. "That's an interesting look. Perhaps we can incorporate them into our buildings?" he says to which Serbia shrugs.

Everywhere they went, from Libya, Ethiopia to the boarders of South Africa, the people welcomed them with open arms. They would often take them on a tour of their museums, larger cities and showed them the new technologies they acquired. Of course, out of respect for their guests, there was a lot of dancing and performances. Serbia found all of this different yet interesting. She often found herself tapping her leg to the rhythm.

Next scene: In Zimbabwe, as Tito and Robert Gabriel Mugabe discuss scholarships for African students, the vibrant African female nation takes Serbia by the hand and says with a smile: "Please do not be shy. Dance with us!"

The Balkan nation is reluctant at first, but her host pleads with her. Very soon, the uniformed serious-looking nation learns the dance and starts moving her legs and feet to the rhythm. Tito looks and finds this amusing.

Next scene: On the ride back home. The tired Serbia says slouching on the car seat: "Well that was fun. We made some great deals and met some good people. I can't wait to go back home and tell everyone what I saw."

"Don't get too comfortable. We are going on another tour soon" Tito says calm.

"Oh, where are we going this time?" she asks.

Her boss turns to her. He stares at her with his sharp eyes and announces almost ceremoniously: "South America. We will go to Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia and all the other countries that will have us."

Serbia smiles and leans back with her arms folded: "Whatever you say boss."

Next scene: Back home. Our protagonist is in her room dancing and humming to the rhythm she heard during her travels. Croatia and Slovenia knock and pop their head inside. "Hey, what's all this about some kind of a Non-Aligned Movement? The boss won't stop talking about it" Croatia asks curious.

Serbia, still dancing, turns and says: "Oh, it will be a movement of countries that want to be free from the influence of the two blocks."

The two male nations look at each other. "Are you sure that is wise? What if USA or USSR find out? They will be furious" Slovenia adds concerned.

"Let them. A lot of countries have signed up already. And I mean a lot. Even India and China are interested. In fact, we will have the first meeting right here in Belgrade" she says still moving her hands and feet to the fast rhythm.

"What?" the two say in unison.

"Yes, in a year or two" she concludes.

Croatia observes her in shock. As she continues to dance, he tilts his head. "Why are you dancing like a crazy person?"

"Don't be like that. It's just for fun" she says and starts humming. He tsks as Slovenia bobs his head finding the fast African rhythm catchy.
