1980s

In her postal uniform, Serbia enters into the USSR house. It was spacious, with its own distinct style. She finds everyone, from the Baltics, the Caucuses, Ukraine and Belarus and the Stans - but not Russia. "Hey, where is the big guy? I have some mail for him" she asks Lithuania who has been carrying a large stack of plates.

"I think he's in the garden" he says pointing with his head. "Thanks" she says and walks pass him. The Baltic nation continues with his task but slips and looses his balance. Still, he manages to keep the plates intact. Belarus enters and slowly walks over to him. "Boo!" she says into his ear, making him jump in terror.

Next scene: It's night time. The garden is nicely kept with many flowers and a few large statues. Russia, in his usual Soviet outfit, stands outside watching the stars. "Hi. Sorry to disturb you so late but I was so busy today. I thought about bringing them over tomorrow but I figured you may want them as soon as possible so..." she starts but stops seeing he is still looking away.

Russia lets out a deep sigh. "Thank you" he says tired observing the bright city lights of his capital visible from his home. "Is everything alright? Has something happened?" she says worried and comes closer.

"No. Everything is the same" Russia says sad. "Politics, assemblies, riots, opposing views, consensus, accusations, negotiations etc...I'm frankly getting sick of it."

Serbia pats his large back sympathetic. "I understand what you mean. You'd think that after the Second World War things would calm down."

"Exactly" he continues as she watches his melancholic expression. "And yet, the tension remains. Especially with this Cold War hype" he says unhappy.

"You should get a vacation? Wear a disguise, find a nice beach and enjoy the sun" Serbia states making her friend scoff. "Ha! Things would fall apart if I took an afternoon off" he say curving his mouth into a smile.

Feeling bad, she puts the mail in her bag and says: "Tell you what...Let's pretend I didn't bring these tonight and go for a drink. You can bring your whole crew and..."

He sighs. "I really don't feel like going out. I would rather enjoy this view" he says looking at the flickering lights. The smaller Yugoslav nation turns to watch it herself.

"It is very beautiful" she says serene.

"Yes, I often saw couples in love hold each other under the starry sky. How happy and relaxed they looked" Russia says mesmerised. "Can you imagine being so young? Not having a care in the world...except if your dad will discover that you snuck out of the house of course?"

Serbia chuckles. "The first one yes, the second one...not so much."

Russia finally turns to her. She is surprised by his warm smile and deep gaze. "Let's pretend to be that kind of couple. Just for tonight."

Completely taken aback, Serbia is left speechless. Becoming slightly nervous, Russia tries to smooth the situation: "I mean, you do like me in that way, don't you?"

With a panicked chuckle, she blushes putting her fingers together: "Well, to be honest. Maybe I had a, sort of, crush on you...But it's fine. It was a long time ago and..." He takes her hand gently and caresses it.

"Don't you like me any more?" he asks looking straight into your eyes. Starting to feel her face turn red, she tries to say something but the words refuse to come out. Instead, the smaller nation nods.

Russia smiles still holding her hand. "Good" he says and kisses it.

With butterflies causing a riot in her stomach she stares into his purple eyes unable to speak.

"Alright, calm down. This is happening. This is really happening. Oh my God this is happening! I am so not prepared!" she thinks barely managing to smile. "What am I talking about. Oh course, I'm prepared. I've envisioned this down to the last detail 200 years ago!"

Russia, lets go of her hand only to slowly put his arm on her back. He gingerly pulls her towards him in an embrace. She leans her head on his chest.

"Fine, it's not exactly as I imagined it. It's not a sunny day and we are not sitting on a bench surrounded with vibrant flowers and fountains. But it is a beautiful night and there's a nice view which... makes it even better!" her thoughts race as she looks up. Russia slowly leans in closing his eyes.

"Oh my God! Okay, stay calm. You know what to do! France thought you. Close your eyes and aim for the mouth. And for Heavens sake don't miss!" Their lips touch making her feel tingly from her feet to the top of her head.

"This is so nice. I can't believe this is finally happening! I'm so excited I can barely stand. My knees feel so weak" she thinks still kissing him. She tries to move her arm upward but finds it almost impossible.

"Wait... Something's...wrong" goes through her head as she starts loosing consciousness.

The last thing that she sees is his eye slightly opening and widening in shock.

Next scene: At the Yugoslav house, that same evening. Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro are sitting around not doing much when they hear a knock on the door. "Now who can it be so late?" Macedonia says checking through the peep hole. Confused, she turns and whispers: "It's Russia. He looks upset. What should I do?"

The others look at each other. "Have we done something recently?" Croatia whispers. Some shrug while others scratch their heads. Everyone flinches hearing another knock. "Well what are you waiting for? Let him in" Montenegro says.

She does so.

The large nation does not enter. "I didn't mean it" he says with a terrified expression. The others gather confused and are baffled with what they see. Russia holds the unconscious Serbia whose face seems dried out. Not only that, her body is devoid of all color and her hands and feet are transparent.

Next scene: A few days later, Serbia finally wakes up to find herself in her bed. Her room is filled with huge flower bouquets. A few moments later Macedonia enters to check on her. "Your finally awake. Thank God, I was beginning to worry. I see your color has returned too" the nation at the door says smiling.

"What happened?" the confused and groggy girl says. "Where's Russia?"

"He left. I think he said he had some important business back home" her friend continues. "But he called to ask how you are every day, and even sent these flowers. Aren't they nice?"

Serbia nods. "He must feel bad for accidentally sucking the life out of you" her roommate continues hiding a chuckle.

"You have no idea how lucky you were" Bosnia says as all of her roommates come in.

"Just goes to show how dangerous he is" Croatia says crossing his arms.

"Not only that but I heard he swings both ways" Slovenia adds privately making Croatia break out in nervous sweat.

"At least you crossed that off your wish list" Montenegro says sarcastic.

Macedonia giggles approaching her. "Tell me all about it. Was it a nice kiss? Did you like it more than mine?" she teases.

Serbia, on the other hand, finds none of this funny. She looks at everyone annoyed and covers her head with a blanket. "Go away and don't mention this to me ever again!" her muffled voice is heard from underneath the blanket. The others look at each other amused.
