Gift

Three weeks had passed. Three blessedly silent, normal weeks since she had confronted the demon her ex-husband had manipulated. The silence hadn't been all good though; Sesshoumaru had been tense with her lately and her grandfather had avoided them all since he had sent her off alone. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on with either male and at this point, with only a few days until Thanksgiving, she was determined not to think too much on it. Kagome knew of course that eventually, the problems would have to be confronted but she couldn't bring herself to face them. Just once it would be amazing to have a normal, peaceful holiday with her friends and family.

Blue eyes darkened in color and she took a slow, deep breath before letting it out even more slowly and pushed every nagging problem to the back of her mind. Kneeling down, she set her hand on Shippou's shoulder and smiled. "That looks great, Ship!"

He grinned up at her, canines poking out over his lip, fluffy tail waving excitedly behind him. "Do you really think he'll like it?" he squealed, holding it up for both of them to examine.

She grinned and took the small gift carefully. "I think he'll love it," she agreed and set it in the small box she had helped him chose.

Shippou smiled and leaned over the table to watch her wrap. She had such pretty hands; he loved watching them. "Hey Kagome…are you still gonna adopt me?"
