The Quiet One Part 2
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"It appears you're out of options Pharaoh, thanks to my Nightmare Steel Cage you can't attack and in one more turn you'll be finished, and your Millennium Puzzle will be mine." Marik promised Yami, still speaking through the Quiet One.
"Never! As long as I believe in the Heart of the Cards you won't succeed in claiming my puzzle." Yami defiantly told him.
"Your misguided faith is completely pathetic compared to the overwhelming power of my Egyptian God Card, but you'll see that first hand in just one more turn when my Jam Breeding Machine creates the third and final Slime Token giving me enough monsters to sacrifice. Then I will summon my great beast, an ancient creature of unbeatable strength to destroy you." The Quiet One told him.
Meanwhile above the planet in space, the KaibaCorp satellite was still operational. "All systems go, commence download of real-time satellite imaging." A voice inside KaibaCorp said.
"Check." One woman, inside the main hub monitoring the Battle City tournament replied.
"Confirm systems data link with all active duel discs." The voice continued.
"Check." Another woman inside the same room replied.
"Resume digital scan of Battle City Tournament gameplay and card tracking software." The voice finished just as Kaiba's face appeared on the main screen.
"Progress report." He said.
"Ah Mr Kaiba." One of the technicians inside the room said, surprised to see him.
"Has my satellite tracking software recorded any use of the remaining two Egyptian God Cards?" Kaiba asked him.
"No sir, but we are searching around the clock." He replied, Kaiba scoffed and narrowed his eyes at him.
"I trust even you won't screw up this assignment. I've done all the real work, programming my satellite to track every card played. Contact me immediately, if an Egyptian God Card appears." He said before ending the communication, closing the small laptop he had carried in his suitcase that held dozens of rare cards.
"Don't worry Seto, with all these Rare Hunters around, the Egyptian God Cards are bound to be under our noses and will turn up eventually." White Veemon told him, Kaiba nodded, closing the suitcase and locking it shut.
"And when I have them all, I'll have the strongest deck in the entire world. I'll be unbeatable, and once again I'll be known as the Number One Duelist." He said. "Come on you two, it's time I start hunting down the remaining two cards on my own." He walked off, Mokuba grabbing the suitcase and following him with White Veemon.
"Wait for me Seto, this thing is really heavy ya know?" Mokuba called out.
Back at the duel, the Quiet One continued to speak to Yami. "History may be on your side pharaoh, but destiny is on mine as I draw closer to winning your puzzle." He said as Yami grit his teeth. "And once I possess it, only the final Egyptian God Card will be left to claim, when I do, I'll be the pharaoh. You're not worthy of the powers that lie hidden within you, so I'll take them! For as long as I can remember, I was brought up to obey the ancient scriptures and to help my family protect the pharaoh's tomb. Now I realise that your time as pharaoh has expired and I must take your place, and your puzzle is the key to your power." He told Yami.
"I wish I knew more about my ancient past, but right now I can't allow Marik to win this duel." Yami thought, drawing his next card.
"You can't attack." The Quiet One told him.
"I'll end my turn then." Yami replied, seeing nothing else he could do this turn as the Quiet One smirked.
"That's good, because your time has run out anyway." He said, drawing his next card. "Jam Breeding Machine create the third and final Slime Token." His machine did just that, a third Slime Token appeared beside the other two.
"This can't be, he's succeeded." Yami said.
"Now I have enough monsters for my ultimate sacrifice. Finally, the time has come, the skies shall be shrouded in darkness." The Quiet One said, dark clouds suddenly formed in the sky above the duel, lightning bolts crashed all around the two duelists. "Prepare to experience an ancient force like no other, as I sacrifice Jam Breeding Machine and my three Slime Tokens." He continued, a giant bolt of lightning striking the machine and three Slime Tokens casting a plume of fire and ash into the air.
The remains of the machine and three Slime Tokens shot into the air, glowing brightly before a massive orb of light appeared in the sky. It cracked open, as a spiralling cloud formed, and a giant pillar of light shot down to the ground. "Meet your maker pharaoh, a creature whose power is absolutely limitless. The Egyptian God Slifer the Sky Dragon!" the Quiet One shouted, the pillar of light forming into a massive red flying dragon with two mouths, glowing yellow eyes and a blue gem on its forehead.
"How can I stop it?" Yami whispered, before covering himself as Slifer's roar sent a gust of wind that almost knocked him over.
"You're finished Pharaoh, Slifer the Sky Dragon is one of the three most feared creatures in history. The Egyptian God monsters, they cannot be defeated." The Quiet One told him.
"Every monster has a weakness Marik, and I'll find yours." Yami replied.
"You're in no position to make threats. You're still trapped in my Nightmare Steel Cage." The Quiet One reminded him. "You can't attack, and you face a monster whose attack power is limitless, and you can only watch as it grows stronger."
"Stronger, how?" Yami questioned.
"Allow me to explain how Slifer works. The number of cards I hold in my hand, determines what Slifer's attack power will be, since I hold two cards his attack points are 2000." The Quiet One explained.
"I'm afraid that's still weaker than my monster." Yami said.
"But this is just the beginning, thanks to my magic card Pot of Greed." The Quiet One said playing the magic card. "This card allows me to draw two cards, greed is good. I lost one card but gained two giving me a total of three cards and Slifer's attack power has become 3000." Sure enough, Slifer's attack points rose from 0 to 3000 and the gigantic beast growled at Yami.
"But in duel monsters there is a limit to how many cards a person can hold in their hand, that means Slifer the Sky Dragon has a limit to his strength." Yami told him.
"Foolish pharaoh, don't you realise every rule is made to be broken." He replied.
"He has no understanding of how deadly Slifer the Sky Dragon can be, that's because he has no memory of when the three monsters devastated the Earth. But he will learn about Slifer's power the hard way, and I have just the cards to give my creature unlimited strength." Marik thought as the Quiet One looked down at his three cards before looking up at Yami.
"I'm afraid any hopes you have of survival are completely in vain. No one has ever defeated an Egyptian God Card." The Quiet One told Yami.
"Until now." Yami said.
"Fool, Slifer will wipe you out with one attack. Then I will take your puzzle and send you to the Shadow Realm, now prepare to lose." The Quiet One shouted, laughing while Slifer roared at Yami.
"I've got to find a way to cut down Marik's dragon. My Buster Blader receives 500 Attack points for every dragon on the field, so right now my monster is stronger than his Sky Dragon. With 3100 Attack points, my monster would slay Marik's dragon with one swipe of his sword. But as long as I'm inside this cage, I can't attack and by the time I can attack his monster may be too strong." Yami thought.
"You see, my Sky Dragon will only get stronger as I draw more cards. So, when I draw on my next turn Slifer will have 4000 Attack points, more than enough to annihilate your Buster Blader and seriously damage your life-points. Then soon enough you'll be out of my way, your reign is over Yami hand over that puzzle now and accept the inevitable." The Quiet One said with a chuckle.
"Never. I will trust my deck." Yami replied, drawing a card, and seeing it was Lightforce Sword. "This card may be able to help, but I'm still trapped for one more turn. If I hang on until then maybe, I'll be able to turn this duel around." He thought.
"How sad, you're finished. Just embrace it, you've had your chance to be pharaoh Yami, now it's my turn to take over and rule the world." The Quiet One said.
"Not if I can help it Marik, it's my destiny to stop you." Yami thought. "I'll place these two cards face down and then I summon Kuriboh, in defence mode." The little furry creature appeared in front of Yami with a coo, followed by his two face down cards.
"Yes, the moment has now arrived. Prepare to feel the wrath of an Egyptian God Card, the steel cage is evaporating leaving you wide open for annihilation, you're about to witness an ancient power so mighty it almost destroyed the entire world." The Quiet One said. "The end is now, I draw and since Slifer the Sky Dragon gains 1000 attack points for every card in my hand, he now has 4000 Attack points. More than enough to incinerate your Buster Blader!"
"And now my Egyptian God monster, attack!" Marik shouted through the Quiet One, Slifer roared and opened its jaw and unleashed a beam of powerful fire towards Buster Blader.
"You've activated my trap card!" Yami shouted, activating one of his two face down cards.
"Trap card?" Marik questioned.
"My Lightforce Sword, this trap card slashes one card out your hand for three full turns." Yami explained with a smirk. "You should remember that I used it to defeat one of your Rare Hunters from before." The magical sword appeared before flying directly towards the Quiet One's hand, striking one of the cards.
"No!" the Quiet One/Marik shouted.
"That means Slifer's attack power has been lowered back to 3000, making it weaker than my monster." Yami said, Buster Blader dodging the beam of flame with ease. "Now my Buster Blader slay his dragon!" he ordered, his swordsman jumping high into the air bringing down its sword towards Slifer only for Revival Jam to jump in the way taking the attack at the last second.
"You forgot about my Jam Defender trap card is still in play which means my Revival Jam will intercept all your attacks." The Quiet One reminded Yami as Revival Jam reformed itself in front of him. "And from now on, this card will also be in play. Card of Safe Return." He said playing the new magic card.
"Card of Safe Return?" Yami asked, having never heard of that card before.
"Yes. This rare magic card lets me draw three new cards every time my Revival Jam reforms itself." The Quiet One explained, he drew those three cards. "This brings the cards in my hand up to five, giving Slifer the Sky Dragon a grand total of 5000 Attack points so far."
"5000 points!?" Yami whispered, his eyes wide in disbelief as Slifer roared angrily at him.
Meanwhile, in another part of Battle City, Daisuke sat on a bench as another duelist walked past looking for an opponent to duel. "You should have challenged that guy; you would have defeated him in three moves max." Tristan told her. "You're two Locator Cards away from the finals, what's the big deal?"
"It wouldn't have been a fair duel; he was clearly inexperienced from how he was looking around for an opponent and being all jumpy. I'm not taking advantage of people like that." She replied.
"I don't care if that guy couldn't even play Go Fish, his Locator Cards are as good as everyone else's and you need them now." Tristan told her.
"I know that, but I don't want people thinking I got into the finals because I took on a small fry. Daisuke Wheeler is gonna do this thing the right way, I'm ready to take on all comers." She replied, standing up and proudly displaying her duel disc.
"Well it is true your skills have improved, especially during your last two duels. But besides having confidence in oneself, being a great duelist means there is always more to learn." Solomon said with a smile; however, Daisuke wasn't listening, her attention more focused on the person who had walked over to her.
"Kaiba." She said, making the others all look at him standing in front of his brother and White Veemon. "Fancy running into you here."
"I see you're still in the tournament Wheeler. I had hoped you would have been kicked out by now." Kaiba replied with a typical smirk.
"You wish. I bet you were hoping that so you wouldn't get your butt kicked a third time by me." Daisuke replied, smirking at him. "What do you say we settle the score here and now, maybe I'll go easy on ya."
"Doubtful, if you did, I wouldn't be impressed." He said crossing his arms. "We'll have to settle this another time; I have other important matters to deal with." He turned and began walking away followed by Mokuba and White Veemon.
"Then, why don't I come with ya?" Daisuke asked, jogging over and standing in his way, her expression turning serious. "If it's something to do with the Rare Hunters or whatever else Ishizu said then I want to help." She said softly.
"Think I can't handle it on my own?" he replied with a smug smirk.
"You know that isn't what I meant pal, those jerks and I have unfinished business and I intend to make them all regret the day they decided to mess with my friends." She said jabbing her finger into his chest earning a giggle from Mokuba and White Veemon, both watching the two with wide grins.
The moment was broken when the wind picked up as a helicopter arrived hovering overhead, Demi-Veemon pushed open the backpack and frowned. "Hey what's with all the noise?" he asked with a pout.
"I take it, that's your helicopter?" Daisuke asked, looking to Kaiba who nodded as the KaibaCorp logo on the collar of his jacket beeped a few times.
"Mr Kaiba, an Egyptian God Card was played exactly five minutes ago, we'll fly you to it." The pilot of the helicopter's voice called from the flashing badge, a rope ladder descended from the vehicle and Kaiba and White Veemon and Mokuba grabbed on.
"Like I said, we'll settle this another time." Kaiba told Daisuke with a small smirk.
"I'll hold you to that." She replied, she watched as the helicopter took to the sky, the two Kaiba brothers and their Digimon climbing the rope ladder into the vehicle.
"Man, no fair. You would have totally creamed him." Demi-Veemon said cutely.
"Darn right I would, let's hurry and find another duelist so I can meet him in the finals." Daisuke said, she ran off ahead followed by the others all of them missing the Rare Hunter watching them from behind a wall.
Inside the helicopter, Kaiba slipped on a headset and plugged it in as the helicopter flew over the city below. "More information is coming in; the Egyptian God card was activated in a duel involving Yugi Muto." The pilot said.
"Yugi…" Kaiba said, he then narrowed his eyes as a plan came to mind. "That card will be mine." He promised his Digimon and little brother.
Back at the duel, Slifer opened its first mouth, a powerful energy blast forming. "And now my Sky Dragon, destroy his Buster Blader!" the Quiet One commanded, his dragon doing just that launching the charged energy blast directly at Buster Blader destroying it and Yami covered himself from the explosion as his life-points fell to 2100.
"Do you surrender yet, you're finished. Slifer will only grow stronger, and thanks to my Jam Defender you still can't attack Pharaoh, and if you do, I'll draw more cards and Slifer will grow even more powerful. Don't you realise there is no way you can win, hand over your puzzle. Once my Egyptian God Card finishes you off, your days as pharaoh will be over."
"None of my monsters are strong enough to beat his Sky Dragon, so I'm going to need the right magic card to do it." Yami thought, drawing his next card he saw it and his eyes widened. "Magic Cylinder, this card could do the trick. But it needs to be used with a magician card to work, and I'm in luck." He saw he had the Dark Magician Girl in his hand.
"Here I go, I sacrifice Kuriboh to summon Dark Magician Girl in defence mode." He said, his small monster glowing brightly before it vanished and Dark Magician Girl took its place.
"By summoning a new monster to the field, you've activated my dragon's special ability." The Quiet One said.
"Special ability?" Yami asked. His eyes then widened seeing Slifer's second mouth slowly begin to open.
"It's second mouth!" the Quiet One replied, laughing as the second mouth of the Sky Dragon began charging a purple and white energy blast.
"Slifer is full of surprises." Yami thought, narrowing his eyes as Dark Magician Girl braced herself for the attack.
"Even if it is your turn, Slifer will automatically attack any monster you summon with its second set of jaws, wiping out 2000 points from whichever mode your monster is in. So, say goodbye to your Dark Magician Girl!" the Quiet One explained. "Slifer attack!" the Egyptian God roared and unleashed its attack directly at the Dark Magician Girl.
"Time to save my Dark Magician Girl." Yami said.
"It's too late, observe." The Quiet One said as the energy blast was about to hit the Dark Magician Girl.
"Why don't you observe!" Yami shouted, the attack hit the Dark Magician girl creating a cloud of thick smoke that slowly cleared.
"A shame your Dark Magician Girl had to leave us so soon." The Quiet One said with a smirk.
"Who said she's gone?" Yami asked him.
"I do!" he replied.
"Well look again, Marik!" Yami told him, the Quiet One and Marik narrowed their eyes before seeing four magical hats in front of Yami and no sign of the Dark Magician Girl. "I activated Magical Hats just in time."
"So, she's hiding under one of those hats?" The Quiet One asked.
"Not just hiding, she's preparing a counterattack." Yami answered making The Quiet One smirk.
"Your magician isn't strong enough to defeat Slifer you fool." He said.
"Your dragon may be strong, but I have faith." Yami said confidently. "I set these two cards face down, beneath my Magical Hats." He set the two cards and the four magical hats spun around quickly hiding the two new cards.
"Your hats merely provide you with a temporary hiding place, and in the meantime Pharaoh I'll play my own magic card and it will make my dragon's power infinite. Infinite Cards lets me exceed the six-card hand limit, allowing me to hold as many cards as I wish in my hand." The Quiet One said.
"That can't be!" Yami shouted.
"Slifer gains 1000 Attack points for every card in my hand, now there is no limit to my monster's power, Slifer unleash your wrath on the right hand hat!" the Quiet One shouted, Slifer roared unleashing its attack towards the desired target.
"You made a lucky guess." Yami growled out, the Quiet One smirked and chuckled.
"You couldn't hide her forever, it's over Pharaoh!" he shouted, the attack struck the Magical Hat obliterating it before the Quiet One saw something and his eyes narrowed. "What's this?" he said seeing the Dark Magician Girl unharmed standing between two large cylinders with Slifer's attack entering the cylinder on her right. "She's absorbing my attack!"
"That's right Marik, it seems you had forgotten that I hid two trap cards under that hat. Magic Cylinder and the Spellbinding Circle, so I'll weaken your monster and then send its own Thunder Force Attack right back at it." Yami said, the magical circle forming around Slifer's body making the dragon writhe around in pain. "Fire!" Yami then shouted, the Dark Magician Girl pointing her sceptre at the dragon and the second cylinder launched the redirected attack right back at Slifer.
"You can't attack with my Revival Jam on the field you fool!" the Quiet One shouted, his monster jumping into the way of the redirected attack and it was destroyed.
"So, your monster can block even redirected attacks?" Yami questioned.
"That's right, and then it regenerates unharmed." The Quiet One said, the Revival Jam doing just that reforming in front of him. "Which also means I can draw three new cards meaning my Sky Dragon grows even stronger, plus I'll draw again giving it a total of over 8000 attack points!" he said, Slifer's Attack points climbing to 8300.
"That Egyptian God is unstoppable." Yami whispered.
"Precisely, and since your Spellbinding Circle is expired, Slifer gains even more attack points giving it a total of 9000 Attack points." The Quiet One said, the magic circle around Slifer vanishing. "Now Slifer, destroy his Dark Magician Girl!" he commanded. Slifer roared launching a powerful blast from its first set of jaws directly at Dark Magician Girl vaporising her completely.
"Behold the ultimate five card combination that makes me completely indestructible. When these five cards are played together, they complete a strategy that cannot be defeated. My Egyptian God Card will continue to grow stronger and your attacks are completely useless." The Quiet One said.
Yami fell to one knee and looked down unable to think of a way to overcome the seemingly unstoppable God Card. "I can't let Marik win my puzzle." He muttered to himself.
"Get up on your feet!" a voice shouted, he looked up to the hill beside where the duel was taking place and saw Kaiba, Mokuba and White Veemon standing there.
"Kaiba!?" Yami exclaimed, surprised to see him there.
"Since when do you bow to your rivals?" Kaiba questioned him, his arms crossed as he glared down at Yami with anger.
"Never." Yami replied.
"Then get up and stop embarrassing yourself so you can defeat this nobody and relieve him of his Egyptian God Card and do it now. And don't let this punk win, you can take down Slifer the Sky Dragon, just find out its weakness. Unless of course, you've lost your touch. If you still have what it takes, prove it to me now." Kaiba told him while mentally he was smirking to himself. "Once I learn Slifer's weakness, I'll take it from him and have the most powerful deck in the world." He thought.
