A/N: Here it is. The chapter is here AND LET NIGHT RAID DESTORY THE COVENANT EMPIRE LIKE THEY DID IN THE CANNON UNIVERESE! *ahem* sorry, I'm just too excited for this mission. Oh yeah, here's fact No.3.
Fact No.3: Writing this fanfiction was really a huge improvement in my first fanfiction writing, but I soon realised that I want to move on. But that doesn't mean that I'm leaving this fanfiction, it's just that I want to take a long break from it, like maybe three to five months at least. Oh, one additional fact, enjoy this early Christmas Gift.
Disclaimer: I do not own Akame Ga Kiru and Halo. They belong to their rightful and respectful owners.
"Are you ready Reclaimers?" Delta asked as she looked at Akame, Leone, Tatsumi and Najenda.
"Yeah." Akame replied.
"I'm ready to kick some Covenant ass!" Leone exclaimed as she was tightening her grip in the controller.
"I'm ready." Tatsumi stated as he had the look of determination.
"Alright everyone," the three players looked at their leader. "Today, we're going to crush this Empire and show what Night Raid and the UNSC could do. Let's go and give them what they deserve!"
"You got it boss." Leone smiled at her leader.
"Here we go." Tatsumi said as he was looking at the screen.
(Cutscene)
(Insert- Halo 3 OST: One Final Effort)
Everyone who were playing and the ones who were watching with them were excited at the opening with this mission. Leone, Lubbock, Mez, Seyru and Cosmina was humming to this soundtrack.
"Talk about one hell of an introduction." Leone commented with a smirk on her face.
Trident
Five Pelicans fly in. They are followed by two Sangheili Phantoms. Behind them is the Sangheili CAS-class assault carrier Shadow of Intent. The view changes to a large energy barrier surrounded by Covenant forces
Commander Miranda KeyesCOM: "We hit these three generators, and the barrier will fall?"
343 Guilty SparkCOM: "A small section, yes."
A patrolling Unggoy spots the dropships as they approach the mainland. It jumps and cowers.
"Yeah, go run you little bitch!" Mine exclaimed.
"Even you're not safe." Sheele said with slight pity for the Grunt as she and the others know about their history.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Good enough. Johnson, drop the Chief at the first generator, then head to the third. The Elites will punch right down the middle."
Sergeant JohnsonCOM: "Roger that."
The Pelicans and Phantoms break formation. Two Pelicans, including Hocus' bird carrying the Chief, head towards Tower 1. Anti-Air Wraith fire erupts around them.
HocusCOM: "Charlie Foxtrot! Tower One approach has active Triple-A!"
"We need to take that down when we touchdown." Tatsumi said as he assessed the surrounding area.
Gunfire hits one of the trailing Pelican's engines, causing it to collide into Hocus' Pelican, tossing its Warthog out onto the ground. The second Pelican swerves out of control and drops its Warthog as well.
Damaged Pelican PilotCOM: "Mayday! I can't control her!"
The Pelican drops out of sight followed by the sound of a crash and a muffled explosion.
HocusCOM: "Pelican down! Pelican down!"
Sergeant StackerCOM: "Brace yourselves; we're going in a little hot!"
"Get ready…." Najenda said as she looked at Akame, Leone and Tatsumi.
"Sure thing boss." Leone smiled.
"This feels like the final battle." Tatsumi thought.
Chief grabs a Spartan Laser as his Pelican makes a rough landing.
{Gameplay}
ODST Sergeant (Stacker): "Pile out! Go, go, go! Alright, up the beach! Take out that Wraith!"
"You heard the man!" Najenda exclaimed.
"Here we go." Tatsumi charged in as he switched to his Carbine and fired upon a group of grunts.
As the epic soundtrack was playing in the background, Akame and Leone helped Tatsumi as they were moving up towards the beach.
HocusCOM: "Commander, this is Kilo 23. Lost my wingman and our only 'Hog. Over."
Commander KeyesCOM: "Roger that, Hocus. Get out of there!"
Destroying the two turrets, the four soon goes where the AA-Wraith was along with a Brute War Chieftain. Tatsumi quickly deals with the Chieftain while Leone destroys the Wraith with her bare hands while Akame gives the two some covering fire.
ODSTCOM: "Beachhead secure, Commander. Hostile Anti-Air has been neutralized."
Commander KeyesCOM: "Hold position, I'm on my way. Shipmaster, begin diversionary bombardment."
Shipmaster Rtas 'VadumCOM: "I will beat the Prophet's shield like a drum. By the time the barrier falls, he will beg for mercy."
The Shadow of Intent starts firing plasma torpedoes at the barrier.
"Yeah, go blow a hole!" Leone cheered at the Elites' ship.
"That wouldn't do anything." Najenda countered.
"Indeed, that type of barrier will withstand against a weapon like plasma." Delta corrected as she knows some of the functions of the Ark.
A Pelican drops off a Mongoose and Warthog for the four and their Squad.
"Dibs on gun!" Leone shouted immediately as she hops on the turret of the warthog.
"Looks like I'll be here then." Najenda said as she hops on to a Mongoose.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Spark believes Truth can activate the rings at anytime. If he does, Earth, every being in the galaxy... Halo will kill them all."
"That is bad." Dorothea retorted.
"And that is why we need to shut these towers down." Najenda added with a face of determination.
They soon head for the first tower.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Get to the First Tower. Shut it down."
As the four drives up the hill towards the 1st generator, they see the Sangheili Phantoms battling with the other Covenant loyalist Phantoms near the second tower.
Sergeant JohnsonCOM: "Ma'am, we're on the ground. Third Tower in sight."
Commander KeyesCOM: "Good. The Elites have touched down at number 2."
"We have to go there now!" Leone exclaimed.
"We will." Akame assured her friend.
The strike team reaches the First Tower.
Marine: "Objective in sight! Watch for heavy armor!"
Prowlers, Ghosts, Shade turrets, and a Wraith surround the tower, but the squad eventually clears the area. Well, more like Leone punching the Wraith to death.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Chief. You've got to offline that tower."
Keyes' Pelican drops off weapons and the four stack up on more ammunition.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Get inside that tower. Take it down!"
Tatsumi and Akame eliminates all of the Covenant troops guarding the door
Marine: "Perimeter secure. Get inside that tower!"
ODST: "Stick together! Check your corners!"
"Well….?" Leone said.
"We only lost only just a couple." Najenda looked at the four dead marines as she picks up their grenades and ammunition.
The four gets inside and secures the bottom floor.
Marine: "Sir, go on. Tower controls should be up top!"
The ODST and Marines hold the bottom floor while the Chief takes the elevator to the top floor.
ODST/Marine: "We'll secure the area, sir."
The four soon gets to where the elevator was and Tatsumi spots another terminal.
"Wait." He stated as he jumps to the other side and activates the terminal.

"Oh, they're talking about the combat skins." Mine pointed out.
"And whatever this entity is talking about the armour class." Lubbock added.
That sparked something in Delta. "Oh my….." She turns to Tatsumi. "Reclaimer, remember what you said about the second evolved form of your armour?"
"Uh huh." Tatsumi nodded his head.
"Well, while I was gathering the information for Halo 3, I made a quick research of your armour and when I did, it surprised me." Delta started.
"Wait, why did it surprise you?" Dorothea asked the monitor.
Delta looked at the former bloodsucker. "I just remembered recently that the beast that created his armour," She was referring to the Tyrant Dragon, "It has the ability to be immune to plasma."
"Wait, so you're meant to tell us…." Mine was about to say.
"The Tyrant Dragon has the ability to be immune to plasma!?" Stylish finished.
"Affirmative Reclaimers." Delta responded calmly. "And using the second evolved form would be classed as a Class 10 combat skin." Everyone was shocked about Incursio's second evolved form being classed as in Forerunner standards, but soon they face the screen to continue to watch the terminal.

L: Something is wrong! It's moving
away! At night I can see it -
flitting shadows - black against the
stars. Thousands of ships!
Not spiraling outward, but heading
for the line! This is the tipping
point, Didact. It's no longer
feeding.
It's coming for you.
"Oh no…" Mine could only say.
"The Flood really wants to have a feel towards this Didact." Wave added.
L: I've remotely destroyed our
Keyships. A security measure.
Without them I cannot reach the Ark.
But neither then can the thing.
I'm trapped. On a beautiful, empty
world. Its inhabitants have been
safely indexed, every single one
of them. They're special - well
worth the effort it took to build
one final gateway, even at this late
hour.
"Huh, seems like this is referring to Earth." Kurome pointed out.
This may be our last communication.
I'm begging you. Fire the Array.
Light the weapon, and let it be done.
"Is this referring to the Halo Array?" Tatsumi asked.
"Affirmative, Reclaimer." Delta answered.
D: We've confirmed your
observations. Infected supraluminal
ships are arrowing inward from
several clusters. No more spiral
growth. The thing is
counterattacking. Suppression,
Security and Emergency Circumstance
fleets are all being recalled.
Systems are evacuating.
Mendicant Bias is no longer
communicating with us.
But now I can guess where you are.
/ FRAGMENT ENDS
"This is getting interesting." Najenda said.
"And if there's one here, then that means that there's are others in the two towers as well." Akame summarized.
Tatsumi goes back to where the others were and decides to go up. As they did, they encounter a Jiralhanae Chieftain and its Jiralhanae Bodyguards guarding the tower controls.
"Akame." Najenda said.
"Understood." Akame nodded and fired her Spartan Laser at the Chieftain, killing him in one shot.
The others engage the stranglers and dealt with them easily.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Chief, find the tower controls, and shut it down!"
Tatsumi deactivates Tower 1.
(Cutscene)
Tower 1 shuts down.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Good work, Chief! That's one. The Elites should be just about to..."
Tower 2 shuts down.
Commander KeyesCOM: "...that's two! It's all up to Johnson's team now."
The Chief and Commander Keyes watch Tower 3 for a moment. It remains active.
"Something isn't right….." Wave looked at the 3rd tower.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Get back outside, Chief. Wait for transport."
{Gameplay}
Commander KeyesCOM: "Johnson, come in. Over."
Sergeant JohnsonCOM: "Brute reinforcements, ma'am (static)! We're pinned down!"
Commander KeyesCOM: "I'm on my way!"
Sergeant JohnsonCOM: "Negative! Fire's too heavy! (to his squad) Everyone fall back! Now! (static and cut-off)"
Commander KeyesCOM: "Sergeant Major!"
No response.
"Fuck, he's captured." Leone said.
"Oh no." Dorothea pointed out.
Najenda soon realises what Dorothea said. "If he's captured…"
"Then that would mean that the Covenant is going to activate whatever the barrier of blocking." Mine finished.
"That isn't good." Tatsumi commented.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Johnson! Can you hear me?! (No response) Chief, you need to link up with the Elites and proceed directly to the Third Tower. Make your way back to the beach."
The four hurries back to the elevator and heads back down. After clearing another group of Kig-Yar and Unggoy attacking the Marines holding the lower floor, the four and their squad get back outside to their vehicles.
"We need to go, ASAP!" Tatsumi warned them.
"But can you go to the second tower?" Dorothea asked.
"Sure thing." Leone smiled.
The four and the marines head back to the beach. Once there, the Chief and his accompanying soldiers meet up with the Hornets and other Marines who held the beach.
HocusCOM: "Sir. Got a flight of birds that need an escort. Take the Hornet; get those Pelicans safely to the Third Tower."
If You Want It Done Right...
Tatsumi boards one while Akame boards another with Leone and Najenda riding with Akame. They assist the other Hornets in clearing the airspace of Tower 2, which is heavily saturated with Banshees and a single Phantom. When that was done, Tatsumi proceeds to go to Tower Two.
EliteCOM: "Second Tower is clear, Spartan, no need to land. Let us hasten to the Third."
"Yeah, we know that." Tatsumi retorted as he hops off his hornet and finds another Terminal. "Here we go." He activates the terminal.
Considering the enemy compound

the Key-ships strategy will only

considerably longer than that.
"Interesting." Stylish muttered.
"These Key-ships seems to be very capable." Dorothea added.
"Indeed, Reclaimers." Delta responded. "The Keyes were very important back when the Forerunners were still here." She was saddened a bit.
"Don't worry." Queue Fives comforted the monitor.

"Sheesh, that…" Wave tried to find the suitable words.
"the Forerunners were really struggling." Bulat added.
While its resources on the
ground are effectively limitless, it
has a finite number of vessels to
spread from system to system.
Fortunately the majority of them are
unarmed and unarmored, private and
commercial craft.
If we start immediately - commence
total biosphere elimination of life
sustaining worlds (as indicated in
the accompanying charts) and
relocate evacuated populations to
facilities such as those described
in the [Onyx project] - all this
could be achieved in [571,590 (+-

(Upon shutdown, from the Entity: "The daemons are not taking a kind view of your presence here. They don't want me speaking to you.")
"Delta, what are Daemons?" Dorothea asked.
"It is quite complicated but it's basically a computer program that performs functions like security and software check-ups." Delta simplified.

"Alright, let's go." Tatsumi said as he hops back to his vehicle.
They proceed to Tower 3, where they meet heavy resistance both in the air and on the ground.
Pelican PilotCOM: "Objective in sight, Commander... No sign of Johnson or his team."
Commander KeyesCOM: "Understood. Chief, clear an LZ, then get inside the tower."
A pair of Anti-Air Wraiths, a standard Wraith, Shade turrets and a large Jiralhanae pack lead by a War Chieftain guard the Third Tower. After the UNSC airborne forces take out the Anti-Air Wraiths, the Sangheili Phantoms arrive and drop off Thel a group of Sangheili. The three gets off their Hornet to eliminate any remaining enemy armor and infantry while Tatsumi provides cover. He then lands the Hornet and joins the Sangheili and the rest on the ground. The bodies of Johnson's team litter the tower's entrance, but Johnson himself is nowhere to be found.
"Sheesh, I feel bad for these marines." Leone said.
"Not right now." Najenda countered as she didn't want to mourn the marines at this moment.
Marines from the Pelicans and Hornets follow up, and secure the perimeter. The four and the Sangheili push on inside the tower, encountering a small pack of Jiralhanae at the doorway. Inside, they battle a swarm of Yanme'e and a Mgalekgolo pair.
"Great." Leone grumbled as she and the other ducks for cover and eventually kills all of the Drones, while Akame deals with the Hunters.
They eventually clearing out the opposition, the team move deeper inside and encounter a larger pack of Jiralhanae, followed by another swarm of Yanme'e. The four and their allies overcome the defenders and secure the bottom floor and the elevator.
"There it is." Tatsumi said as he walks to where the other terminal was.

(Upon being rerouted to a new destination within Terminal)
[12:H 20:M 00:S]
I begin this report with no
illusions that it will ever be seen
by its intended readers. In all
likelihood they have already
committed [species-wide suicide]
with the goal of preserving
biological diversity in this galaxy.
I must ensure that this information
reaches those who must come after.
If I fail in this, how can they not
regard my creators' sacrifice as
anything but [a crime without
measure]?
"Okay, this is just creepy." Seyru admitted as she was hugging Koro.
[12:H 19:M 59:S]
Contender AI 05-032/Mendicant
Bias is returning and has the
capacity to bring the enemy through
the [Maginot] sphere. The crews of
my task force are aware of the
opposing fleet's size; all data
indicates that they have prepared
themselves - but with biologicals
anything is possible. I will make
sure that [malfunctioning equipment]
does no further damage. Perhaps its
current failure will finally allow
it to succeed at the task it was
originally created for.
"Looks like this Mendicant Bias has betrayed the Forerunners." Najenda pointed out.
"Why would be do that?" Sheele asked.
Delta sighed at this as she knows why Bias betrayed the Forerunners. That would be another story to tell for another day.
[11:H 15:M 48:S]
Mendicant has burrowed through the
sphere exactly where I expected -
a direct path from initial rampancy
to final retribution. Rage has made
it predictable. If the fate of the
crews of my auxiliary fleet were not
already a foregone conclusion I
would rate their chance of survival
at [1:1,960,000].
Even though 05-032's declaration of
hostilities simplified strategic
preparations; I do not expect an
easy fight - just one I cannot lose.
[11:H 12:M 09:S]
05-032 was right about one thing:
there is only one way to defeat the
enemy, and that is to visit utter
annihilation on it.
If the galaxy must be [rendered
temporarily lifeless], so be it.
As Mendicant stated in its report
[58,078:H 48:M 12:S ago]: half
measures will not suffice.
"I never knew that this Bias was very powerful." Tatsumi said in awe.
"He was a contender class AI, Reclaimer. AIs like him are very capable." Delta answered as she revealed one key details to them.
[09:H 45:M 18:S]
In support of 05-032's original 1000
core vessels is a fleet numbering
4,802,019; though only 1.8 percent
are warships - and only 2.4 percent
of that number are capital ships -
I am outnumbered [436.6:1]. I expect
my losses will be near total, but
overwhelming force has its own
peculiar drawbacks.
Such a press of arms invites many
opportunities for unintentional
fratricide.
[07:H 36:M 41:S]
My auxiliaries are momentarily
stunned by Mendicant's opening
move - 1,784,305 leisure craft
ranging from [45 ~ 5769 tonnes]
advance in hopes of overwhelming my
comparatively tiny force. I do not
have enough [weapon systems] to
target them all.
"Yep, whoever is saying this, the Forerunners seems to be really struggling." Mine commented.
"The Flood were really a threat back then." Run added
"At least High Charity isn't in the Ark." Wave sighed in relief that the mobile Flood Hive isn't there.
It is a mathematical certainty that
some of them will get through and
attempt to board. There isn't a
single warship with this first wave.
It seems my opponent's rage has left
no room for respect.
[04:H 01:M 55:S]
I could have countered its move if I
had released my fighters. They are
ready but idle; making their base
vessels more attractive prizes than
targets. Now the first of many waves
of commercial vessels mixed with
single ships and assault craft surge
forward. The first ship from my
fleet to be boarded breaks formation
and races into the oncoming
vessels - striking one amidships.
The cargo vessel's hull splits open
and out of it explodes not the
expected consumer goods but 31,860
dying warriors.
[00:H 19:M 02:S]
The seventh and final wave of
container ships, barges, tankers, and
military vessels engage my fleet;
another 214,320 ships, many in
excess of [50,000 tonnes], engage my
seemingly disrupted vanguard. I
continue to fight just well enough
to seem lucky.
Mendicant, or the enemy, has been
sending a small percentage of its
fleet elsewhere. Good. Let them
believe they can seize a foothold
somewhere inside the sphere.
[00:H 00:M 11:S]
Despite all its faults, 05-032 has
fought remarkably well.
My auxiliaries lay in tatters - more
than half of them are now part of
the enemy fleet. But just as I had
predicted, 05-032 concentrated on
them like they were the sole key to
victory. Its desire to punish our
creators blinded it to the true
purpose of my [feints]. I have
reduced the combat effectiveness of
its core fleet to 79.96 percent.
Surely now it must realize that
something is amiss.
[00:H 00:M 00:S]
The [Halo effect] strikes our
combined fleets. All ships piloted
by biologicals are now [adrift].
I can trade Mendicant ship for ship
now and still prevail.
"Mendicant Bias seems to be one good of a tactician." Najenda pointed out.
"Wonder if he can be me." Esdeath wondered.
[00:H 00:M 01:S]
Of my ships that had been captured,
11.3 percent of them are close
enough to Mendicant's core fleet
that they can be used offensively -
either by initiating their
self-destruct sequences, or by
opening unrestricted ruptures into
[slipstream space].
"We do we get to learn about slip space?" Dorothea asked Delta.
"That is a long and complicated topic, Reclaimer." Delta answered as she knows that the Former Blood Sucker would be stuck in some of the topics.
It is best that our crews perished
now; because the battle that is
about to ensue would have driven
them mad.
[00:H 00:M 02:S]
I throw away all the rules of
acceptable conduct during battle;
near the ruptures I throw away all
the accepted ideas of how the
natural world is supposed to behave.
I toss around [37,654 tonne]
dreadnoughts like they were
fighters; dimly aware of the former
crews being crushed to liquescence.
For now all my concentration is
focused on inertial control and
navigation. Targeting isn't even a
consideration - I will be engaging
my enemy at arm's length.
[00:H 01:M 14:S]
05-032 abandoned the tactic of using
derelict ships as cover after [72:S]
- It seems that 52 core vessels lost
to the ruptured fuel cells of
derelict ships was lesson enough.
Add another 608 lost to collision,
point fire, structural failure due
to inertial manipulation, and
[slipstream space] induced
discoherence and I now outnumber
Mendicant [6:1].
[00:H 03:M 00:S]
Mendicant was able to postpone its
inevitable annihilation for [106:S]
with its attempt to flee. But the
last of its core vessels hangs
before me now; crippled and defeated
but still sensate. I could spare it;
carve out what is left of its
[personality construct array] and
deliver it to [Installation Zero]
for study.
I doubt it would have extended the
same courtesy to me.
As the terminal ended, the Sangheili hold the lower level while the fourheads up. The Chief secures the top floor, after defeating a Jiralhanae War Chieftain wielding a plasma turret and a squad of Jiralhanae Stalkers.
"That was easy." Tatsumi commented.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Hit the switch, Chief, and the barrier will fall!"
As the other grab Plasma rifles, Akame deactivates the Third Tower.
(Cutscene)
The barrier falls. The Shadow of Intent advances on the Citadel.
Rtas 'VadumCOM: "Now, Prophet... your end has come."
A massive slipspace rupture suddenly appears directly above. High Charity emerges and plummets down to the Ark.
"No…." Tatsumi started who was very shocked.
"This can't be for real…" Leone added with awe and shock.
"It is real." Najenda added as she sees High Charity entering through the slip-space portal.
Night Raid was very shocked and scared at the Flood's hive arrival at the Ark. This was very bad for them.
"How the hell did they find the Ark?!" Mine asked.
"Maybe it was some sort of knowledge within High Charity and likely that they found another portal." Dorothea guessed.
"You are correct, Reclaimer." Delta responded. "The Flood's mobile base found a portal through Mars since they were aware about Truth and the Covenant's intention to activate all the Rings at once." She added with slight concern.
Rtas 'VadumCOM: "High Charity...? By the Gods. Brace for impact!"
Debris from High Charity strikes right through the Shadow of Intent's hull. A Flood dispersal pod then breaks apart in midair. Part of the pod crashes through the window right above the Chief. It stops as it hits the elevator window, glowing eerily. The Chief raises his rifle and prepares to engage the enemy he knows too well.
{Gameplay}
"Well, this has turned into a horror game." Leone said as she readies to fight the Flood.
Flood forms swarm towards the four infecting the corpses of the Jiralhanae in the room. Soon eliminating the hostiles in the area, the four then takes the elevator back down.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Shipmaster, what's your status?"
Rtas 'VadumCOM: "Significant damage! Weapon system disabled!"
Commander KeyesCOM: "Move to a safe distance, stay away from the Flood."
Rtas 'VadumCOM: "Why would the Parasite come here?!"
343 Guilty SparkCOM: "The Ark is out of range of all the active installations! Priority: We must contain this outbreak, before-"
"Great, now we have to deal with the Flood at this rate." Chelsea stated.
Commander KeyesCOM: "No! First, we stop Truth. Then we deal with the Flood."
"That's a good plan Miranda." Najenda agreed as she loads another magazine into her carbine.
The four links up with the rest of the Sangheili, who are who are trying to hold back encroaching Flood forms. After clearing the room, they head back outside, eliminating more Flood forces (including several carrier forms). Arriving outside, they assist Marines engaged in combat with the Flood. A Sangheili Phantom arrives to pick up Sparks. The Phantom's side gunner helps clear out any remaining Flood.
343 Guilty Spark: "Quickly, I must see the point of impact; assess the damage to the Ark."
Elite: "To the top of these hills, Oracle, no higher. We cannot risk your capture by the Flood."
"Thank God, you're saving Sparks." Tatsumi said as he and the others are aware of what will the Flood do to the Monitor.
An Elite takes 343 Guilty Spark with him. Meanwhile, Pelicans drop an Gauss Warthog, a Mongoose and a Scorpion tank for the assault on the Citadel.
"Dibs on tank!" Leone shouted as she hops on into the Scorpion.
"Looks like we're going to be going to the Warthog." Tatsumi commented as he hops on into the driver's seat while Akame goes to the gunner and Najenda on the rider's seat.
The rest hops on into Leone's vehicle and soon drives off.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Shipmaster's carrier is out of commission, Chief. I need you to take down Truth. The Flood's just going to put pressure on him; accelerate his plans. Punch through the cliffs! Get inside that Citadel!"
Journey's End
The Assault Team gets through the snowy cliffs, where they encounter a few small Covenant emplacements, which they dealt with easily. As they go off to the entrance, they could see Banshees and Hornets battling each other in the distance.
Pelican PilotCOM: "Citadel in sight! Brutes are mobilizing everything they've got."
Epic music soon plays as the assault team advances across the cliff, facing infantry, Ghosts, Shade turrets, deployable lookout towers, Prowlers, and a Wraith. Once the team breaks through the Covenant defenses, they meet up with two Hornet gunships near the route down into the clearing.
"This is getting too exciting." Lubbock hummed.
"Yeah, and the Revolutionary Army could use some Inspiration from this level." Leone agreed..
StackerCOM: "Hornets, inbound!"
"I'll go on the Hornets." Tatsumi said as he hops on into one and soon hovers away.
"We'll give you covering fire." Najenda informed him as she takes in driving the vehicles.
As they went to where the Citadel was, two Scarabs soon drops down from above.
Pelican PilotCOM: "I count two Scarabs! Repeat: two Scarabs!"
"Tatsumi! You take the one on the left on your own while we'll deal with the other one." Najenda informed him as she fires at one leg of the Scarab.
"Got that." He nodded and soon fires barrages of missiles at the Scarab and soon goes down. Not wasting time, he fires at the back side, which reveals the core and it explodes.
Commander KeyesCOM: "First Scarab's down! All units, concentrate your fire on number two!"
Speaking of the second one, Najenda and the rest were dealing with them with no problem.
"Akame!" Najenda looked at the red-eyed assassin.
"Understood." She nodded back and soon hops on into the Scarab, where she quickly deals with any Covenant Forces and soon destroys the core, which led to the destruction of the Scarab but she managed to get off before it exploded.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Both Scarabs down, well done."
Commander KeyesCOM: "Marines, kill the stragglers!"
"That would be our problem." Tatsumi assured.
"Now then…. Let's get this Prophet.." Leone said as she heads to the Citadel's entrance.
The three catches up with leone and reached the entrance. A Sangheili Phantom decloaks and arrives at the platform leading to the entrance of the Citadel, dropping off 343 Guilty Spark. Any surviving enemy Banshees will flee at this point.
"Yeah, go run you little shits!" Leone exclaimed.
The four meets Sparks at the platform.
Thel 'Vadam: "The Flood scales the Citadel's far wall. Activate this bridge, Oracle! (turning to the Chief) The Prophet will die by my hands, not theirs."
"Don't worry Thel, we'll make sure that the bastard dies in your hands." Leone assured the Elite.
343 Guilty Spark: "Calamity! If only we had more time!"
."Now we need to rush in order to get there." Tatsumi added.
Spark activates a light bridge. The four cross it and enter the Citadel alone. The door they entered through closes and bolts up. The entrance is a large hallway with viewscreens mounted along the walls.
Cortana (Cortana Moment): "It asked, and I answered. (turns bitter) For a moment of safety, I loosed damnation upon the stars."
"Jesus, the Gravemind is doing something to her." Lubbock admitted.
"Yeah, if she has the logic plague…." Kurome stated.
"That wouldn't be possible since she's strong willed." Wave interrupted as he didn't want her upset.
Prophet of Truth (Video COM): "My faithful...stand firm!"
(Cutscene)
Viewscreens around the Chief light up. The Prophet of Truth is seen making another speech. The Chief and 'Vadam hurry to find a way up.
Prophet of Truth (Video COM): "Though our enemies crowd around us, we tread the blessed path. In a moment, I will light the rings! And all who believe...shall be saved!"
"Shall be saved?! More like shall be exterminated!" Mine yelled.
Master Chief and 'Vadam discover an elevator with a screen in front of it showing Sergeant Johnson held aloft by a Jiralhanae. Johnson punches the Jiralhanae in the face, to no effect.
"Come on, Johnson. Just hang in there." Leone prayed.
Commander KeyesCOM: "Chief, how close are you?"
They look up. The height is phenomenal.
Master Chief Petty Officer John-117: "Not close enough."
"Doesn't matter, the universe's fate is in your hands." Najenda stated.
"But the Covenant is going to give them a hard time." Tatsumi added.
"This is not going to end well." Wave finished.
The view changes to the Control Center. Johnson is thrown to the floor.
Sergeant Johnson: "That the best you got?"
A Jiralhanae Chieftain gives him an amused huff, then picks him up around the neck and begins to strangle him.
Sergeant Johnson: "Oh, come on. Impress me."
Truth turns around and sees what is happening.
Prophet of Truth: "Stop, you imbecile! He wants you to kill him!"
"God damnit." Leone grumbled.
He turns back to the Ark's activation console and speaks quietly.
Prophet of Truth: "I'd prefer that you did not..."
The Chieftain slams Johnson's head into the solid holographic console.
Sergeant Johnson: (to Truth) "What's the matter, big shot? Can't start your own party?"
Truth leans forward so only Johnson can hear him.
Prophet of Truth: "I admit, I need your help."
"Oh yeah, the Covenant were meddlers while us, humans are Reclaimers." Kurome remembered.
A Pelican appears behind them unnoticed and rapidly approaches the main window.
"The hell is a pelican is doing there?" Mine asked.
"Probably reinforcement." Akame answered.
Prophet of Truth: "But that secret dies with all the rest."
The Pelican smashes through the window and crashes onto the ledge next to them, slamming into a Jiralhanae and sending it flying. Scene fades to black briefly.
Fade back in on the Control Center. Mere seconds have passed. A Jiralhanae Captain gets up, but Keyes blasts it with her shotgun.
"Miranda!" Leone shouted.
"This can't be good….." Bols countered.
Commander Keyes: "Johnson! (ejects a shell from her shotgun) Sound off!"
Johnson climbs up from behind the control terminal, clutching his side.
Sergeant Johnson: "(coughing) Get - out of here!"
Commander Keyes: "Not without you!"
"You should really listen to him." Najenda agreed with Johnson's statement.
More Jiralhanae surround Miranda and Johnson. Miranda fires at the closest Jiralhanae with her shotgun. Its armor is damaged, but it remains standing.
Prophet of Truth: (off-screen) "You delay the inevitable. One of you will light the rings."
Keyes draws a pistol and aims her weapons both ways.
Prophet of Truth: (off-screen) "You cannot hope to kill them all!"
Keyes pauses and lowers her weapons. She looks at her pistol.
"Oh no, she will kill herself and Johnson." Leone said with sadness within her as she didn't want Johnson to die.
"But it's for the greater good." Najenda agreed with the blonde.
Commander Keyes: "You're right..."
She reluctantly aims the pistol at Johnson. He staggers towards her.
Sergeant Johnson: "Do it. Me...then you..."
Keyes hesitates, lowering her pistol slightly with sadness on her face.
Sergeant Johnson: "Now!"
Keyes straightens up and aims. Several Spiker shots are heard. Keyes gasps in pain and drops her weapons. Johnson starts to run to her aid.
"Fuck." Leone could only say.
"You should've pulled the trigger when you should have had your chance." Esdeath said in disappointment.
Sergeant Johnson: "No!"
A Jiralhanae Captain restrains Johnson, who struggles, horrified. Keyes falls to her knees, collapses and dies with five glowing spikes in her back. Truth walks on screen gingerly holding a Spiker in one hand. He looks down at Keyes.
"Fucking Truth, now I really want to punch him in the face." Leone grumbled as she feels her blood boiling in rage.
"Calm down, we're going to avenge her death." Tatsumi said as he was calming her down.
"Yeah, you're right." Leone sighed.
Prophet of Truth: "Your forefathers wisely set aside their compassion..."
He drops the Spiker, and shakes a fist to emphasize his speech.
Prophet of Truth: "...steeled themselves for what needed to be done."
Truth walks up to Johnson, who is still being restrained by the Jiralhanae.
Prophet of Truth: "I see now why they left you behind."
Sergeant Johnson is brought up to the control panel.
Prophet of Truth: "You were weak. And gods must be strong."
"Really…." Wave looked at Truth with contempt. "No one can really be Gods."
"That could be possible Reclaimer, but this doesn't apply here." Delta countered as she knows other universes that are superior to that of the Forerunners.
He forces Johnson's hand down on the panel with a smug look. Johnson, still overcome with grief and shock, doesn't resist. Instantly, the Control Terminal begins to change and heighten. Truth raises his arms in triumph. The scene moves down the corridor, as six out of the seven holographic Halo rings light up one by one (Installation 04 has not yet been replaced, so its ring does not light up). At the end of the corridor, the Master Chief and Thel 'Vadam emerge from the lift. Two Flood tank forms drop from above.
"Shit, the Flood's here." Leone gasped that the Flood manage to break through.
"This isn't good." Akame agreed as she was getting a bit scared.
The Master Chief draws his assault rifle and aims, and 'Vadam activates his energy sword.
Gravemind (through the tank forms): "Do not shoot, but listen! Let me lead you safely to our foe. Only you can halt what he has set in motion."
"Wait WHAT?!" Most of them shouted in shock that the Flood is working for them.
"Why the hell is the Flood collaborating with the two?!" Mine asked.
"Since we were informed by Delta about the Interstellar stage, the Flood is aware of the activation of the Halo rings in the Ark." Najenda started.
"So, it's like they're dealing with the Covenant before resuming in consuming the galaxy?" Wave guessed.
"Correct, the Flood is well are of their food resources being taken, so they're taking their intelligence to help them to stop the activation of the rings." Bulat explained.
"The Reclaimer is right." Delta agreed.
"Still, we need to be cautious of them." Tatsumi added.
The pair lower their weapons cautiously. Pod infectors scurry between their feet toward their common enemy. The Master Chief and 'Vadam look at each other, obviously not trusting the Flood, but knowing they have no other choice.
{Gameplay}
Revelation
The four and the Flood begin their final assault on Truth. Three bridges stand between them and the Control Center. Resistance on the first bridge consists of Unggoy and Kig-Yar infantry led by a single Jiralhanae Captain, backed up by Unggoy Heavies. The four and their allies quickly defeat these enemies and cross the first bridge.
"Man, even if it's a temporary alliance, at least we'll be having no problem in dealing with the Covenant." Lubbock commented.
The four and the Flood enters a room with holograms of Truth in the Forerunner systems.
Prophet of Truth (Hologram): "How could I have known the Parasite would follow?! Undoubtedly this is the Heretics' doing! A final, bitter curse. Clear evidence of treachery long hidden!"
"Let's see. You never considered about the threat of the Flood." Dorothea spoke up.
"That's what you get for being a fanatic." Suzaka agreed.
At the second bridge, the four encounter the final Covenant defenders - including a Jiralhanae Chieftain wielding a gravity hammer and his Bodyguards, with Jump Pack Brutes as the main counter-attack force, with a pair of Unggoy Heavies armed with fuel rod guns supporting them. With the help of the Flood, the Master Chief and the Arbiter defeat the last of Truth's followers. They cross the second bridge.
In the second room, Truth's holograms broadcast a final message.
Prophet of Truth (Hologram): "So far are we along the path, that I must strain to hear the clumsy patter of their pursuit. Know this, my brothers: they may foul the way with their charred and broken bones, but they will not stop the Journey."
"About that, it will not be happening." Leone pointed out.
Resistance on the third bridge has already been crushed by the Flood. The four step over the bodies of fallen Jiralhanae, Unggoy, and combat forms and finally reach the Control Center. A large gap is now all that stands between them and Truth. Tatsumi activates a light bridge, allowing them to cross.
(Cutscene)
The Master Chief and Thel 'Vadam cross the light bridge. They pass by an inert Flood corpse, and come across a distraught Sergeant Johnson who is resting Miranda Keyes' lifeless body on his lap by her head next to the Pelican. The pair stop and stare into Keyes' empty eyes, until Johnson closes them gently.
Sergeant Johnson: (sighs) "Stop the rings. Save the rest."
Bols was saddened by this as Keyes' only daughter has died. How would he feel if that happened to his daughter? Luckily he was comforted by Queue Fives.
The Chief continues to stare at Miranda, shoulders slumped, obviously disheartened, while 'Vadam approaches the crawling form of Truth, his energy sword turned off but at the ready.
"So Thel's finally going to take his revenge." Run started.
"I think he has the right to do that." Najenda agreed as she didn't mind Thel killing the bastard.
Prophet of Truth: (weakly) "Can you see, Arbiter? The moment of salvation is at hand."
"Look around you, no one is going to help you." Tatsumi shouted.
The Arbiter grabs Truth by the throat and points his currently deactivated sword in the Prophet's face.
Thel 'Vadam: "It will not last!"
"You're right." Mine agreed.
Prophet of Truth: "Your kind...never believed in the promise of the sacred rings."
"Promise of the sacred rings?! Do you have any idea what it will do?!" Mine exclaimed.
Flood biomass suddenly erupts from Truth's head. Spores spew from his mouth. The Prophet is infected.
"Damn, he's infected." Leone spoke.
"That's what you get for letting the Flood free." Mez sighed.
Gravemind (speaking through Truth): "Lies for the weak. Beacons for the deluded."
Esdeath just quietly gasped when she heard that. The Gravemind knew what he meant towards Esdeath when he was telepathically speaking to her.
At this moment, 'Vadam draws his energy sword back and activates it, ready to kill his former leader. The Master Chief points his assault rifle at Truth in case he is completely taken over by the Flood
Thel 'Vadam: "I will have my revenge. On a Prophet, not a plague!"
Truth regains control of his body.
Prophet of Truth: "My feet tread the Path. I shall become a god!"
"No one can become a God!" most of them shouted.
"You might be wrong Reclaimers." Delta countered as she brought up her inner thoughts again.
Tentacles begin to sprout on Truth as the Flood infection progresses.
Everyone didn't flinch at this as this was the infection that Truth deserves.
"Well, there's go your godhood." Chelsea said sardonically.
Gravemind (speaking through Truth): "You will be food - nothing more."
The Chief approaches the Ark's control panel, ready to deactivate it.
Prophet of Truth: (realizing what he's about to do) "NO!"
The Chief deactivates the Ark. The holographic Halo rings dim. The Flood body begins to stir.
Prophet of Truth: (being held aloft by 'Vadam) "I...am...Truth! The voice of the Covenant!"
'Vadam releases Truth briefly, then viciously grabs his neck from behind. Truth's crown falls off as he pitifully gasps for air, trying to grab 'Vadam's hand.
Thel 'Vadam: "And so… you must be silenced."
'Vadam stabs his sword through Truth's back. It goes clean through him; the two points of the energy sword pierce through his chest as he writhes and screams in pain. Flood spores shoot out of his mouth and the infection lets out a pitiful squeal as both it and its host die. The last of the Hierarchs is dead.
"Wooohooooo…" Leone shouted.
"That was epic!" Tatsumi exclaimed.
"Man, Thel has got one of the best lines." Lubbock agreed.
"He should have said something better." Akame commented.
"AKAME!" Most of them shouted.
"But I kinda like that." She added, making everyone sigh in relief.
"I need to use that line." Leone thought as she thinks that it would be very useful to say in the future.
The Arbiter pulls his sword out and lets Truth's corpse fall to the floor. He lets out a roar of triumph and deactivates his sword. He then turns to the Chief. The Chief gives the Sangheili a nod, acknowledging him for ending the life of the Prophet who declared war on humanity; they then turn to see Johnson carrying Keyes' body into the Pelican. There is a moment of silence as they realize their victory has not been without loss, but the Human-Covenant War is finally over.
"Finally the war is over." Tatsumi sighed.
"But the-" Wave was about to say when he jinxed something.
Suddenly, the ground begins to tremble, and massive tentacles rise up all around them. Chief wields his assault rifle and 'Vadam reactivates his sword. They both stare up at the tentacles which are now reaching high above them. The Gravemind laughs maniacally.
"Oh, you had to jinx it, Wave." Kurome grumbled in annoyance.
"Sorry." He muttered.
Johnson leaps into the Pelican's cockpit and starts to take off, heading for the hole in the window that Keyes made earlier. The Chief climbs onto the control panel of the Ark and jumps up, grabbing onto the departing Pelican's landing gear. 'Vadam deactivates his sword and grabs the Chief's hand. Just before the Pelican can get out, the tentacles knock both of them off. The Pelican spirals out of control and falls out of sight. 'Vadam and the Chief land in a heap on the Citadel's floor. The Gravemind's tentacles swerve around them and multiple Flood forms can be heard approaching.
Gravemind: "Now the gate has been unlatched, headstones pushed aside… corpses shift and offer room, a fate you must abide!"
"Oh, they won't." Leone said.
"Chief and Arbiter will survive." Lubbock added with a bit of hope.
The Chief and 'Vadam get back up. 'Vadam reactivates his sword, and the Chief takes aim with his assault rifle. They come back to back.
Thel 'Vadam: (almost exasperated) "We trade one villain for another."
"More like trade one crazy guy to a full on God." Najenda stated.
For a moment, the tentacles appear poised to strike. Then - as if sensing a threat (possibly the Sentinels) - the Gravemind suddenly retreats, leaving its minions behind to deal with the pair. Two combat forms jump up from behind the Control Panel.
{Gameplay}
Sergeant JohnsonCOM: "I can barely keep hold of her, Chief! No way I can pick you up! Head back to the lift... find a way down!"
The four kill the two combat forms and cross back over the light bridge. They fight their way through hordes of Flood with their picked up Shotguns and Battle Rifles, which have betrayed them now that the Halo rings have been deactivated. Fortunately, Sentinels have arrived and are fighting the Flood.
"Thank the lord they're here." Leone uttered.
The four reenters the room where Truth's first message was broadcasted.
Cortana (Cortana Moment): "I'm a thief...but I keep what I steal."
"Leone chucked at that statement while Tatsumi stared at her. "You didn't forget, right?" He asked as he remembers his money being stolen by her.
"I didn't!" She exclaimed as he was glaring daggers at her.
The four make it back to elevator. The lift is not working, so they jump down a shaft at the back of the room.
(Cutscene)
The Chief lands at the bottom of the shaft, landing in a room not unlike the entrances to the three shield towers. He looks beside him as the Arbiter comes down, and then stands up. A flickering, spooky image of Cortana appears in the hallway, running. She starts to turn the corner and disappears, after a split second. The Chief casually walks around the corner as though amused by Cortana's antics, but 'Vadam is confused.
"What she was running from?" Dorothea asked.
"Something that she might show them." Akame answered.
Thel 'Vadam: "What do you see?"
With 'Vadam trailing far behind, the Chief looks around the corner. He sees a control panel. Cortana appears a second time, again for only a second, walking loftily (and spookily) towards it. She stops at the panel and disappears. The Master Chief goes to the panel and activates it.
A view screen slides open, the Chief and 'Vadam step out onto a balcony to watch as a massive structure rises up out of thick fog. It's a Halo ring, incomplete, rising from inside the Ark's Foundry. Cortana's plan is becoming clear.
"Holy….." Leone spoke.
"A new Halo Ring." Stylish spoke in amusement.
"Delta, the Ark is a forge site for the Halo rings?!" Dorothea asked in excitement.
"Affirmative." Delta spoke.
"I never knew about that and I really want to know who came up with this idea." She spoke, making Delta grimaced. "Um…."
"Oh, it's nothing really." Delta assure her, but the story about Faber is for another day.
'Vadam turns and looks at the Chief.
Thel 'Vadam: "A replacement. For the ring you destroyed."
"Oh yeah, I see why." Tatsumi remembered.
John-117: (to a blue glow behind him) "When did you know?"
Spark hovers up from behind and comes up to the Chief.
343 Guilty Spark: "Just now - but...I had my hopes. What will you do?"
John-117: "Light it."
"Are you really serious right now?" Najenda spoke.
"The rings look incomplete, there's bound to be something terrible." Susanoo agreed as he was observing the new Halo Array.
"But the Flood needs to be contained at least." Tatsumi countered.
343 Guilty Spark: (overjoyed) "...Then we are agreed! A tactical pulse will completely eradicate the local infestation! I will personally oversee the final preparations."
He flies enthusiastically around the Chief and 'Vadam and then flies off towards his new Halo now talking to himself.
343 Guilty Spark: "Though it will take time to fabricate an Activation Index, I will see to the letter that..." (he flies too far away)
The Arbiter turns to the Chief.
Thel 'Vadam: "How will you light it?"
They both turn to look at the crashed High Charity in the distance, realizing that Cortana still has the Activation Index required to activate the new Halo ring.
"Oh yeah, she still has the activation index from the first Halo Ring." Mine remembered.
"If they're thinking about going to High Charity, they're going to need a lot of fire." Bols observed as he knows that fire is the Flood's weakness.
Fade to black.
Level ends
As the level ends, the players soon put the controllers down in the table.
"That was one hell of a mission." Leone commented as the level ends.
"I have to agree with you, from the start to the finish, that was one hell of a mission." Lubbock agreed.
"Yes however, there's still one more thing that we must do." Akame said as she looked back at the screen.
"Before we return, may I ask on who has a weak stomach?" Delta asked and saw some people putting their hands up. She soon materializes a couple of buckets to them. "Just a word of warning, you might find this level quite disgusting." She adds as she knows what to expect from a Flood Hive.
Taking advise from Delta about the level, Mine, Wave, Bols and Dorothea soon picked up the controllers to play the next mission.
A/N: Jesus, this chapter was one of the longest to write and it was kinda rushed. But, I have my own reason as to why and I rally want to finish this before 2020 ends. So, I might as well finish this fanfiction of a story before I decide to have a long break until May.
Oh, and here's an omake for the holidays with my other OC monitor, 6312 Obligant Tyrant and his pet Tyrant Dragon. Merry Christmas you guys.
Omake: Osuwari!
Back in the Colosseum Installation, 6312 Obligant Tyrant came back through a teleporter, where his pet dragon was waiting for him. The dragon was holding something it's mouth, which indicates that it really wanted to play with the monitor right now.
"Not now..." Obligant said as he was holding a lot of anger within him. Well, he was holding a lot of it because his severe mood swing has really got the better of him ever since he went to the Tojou's world for quick observation. And... well, there was a lot of explicit things that he witness. "Just think they were about to stop, they just continued. Jesus, don't they realise that they're living human beings?! Not fucking sex slaves!"
He was wondering around alone when his pet Dragon was following him using its invisibility ability. It really wanted to play with him right now, but it never knew that he was in an angry state right now. "Not NOW..." The Dragon winced when Obligant looked at him. It soon turns off its ability and was sitting with the object still in its mouth. "Listen, I am not in a good state now so..." The Dragon lowered its head. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE WHEN I'M ANGRY!"
The Dragon was first hesitant at first, but then it soon dropped the object from its mouth, revealing to be a Forerunner machine that he was biting on. Obligant was shocked about this when he discovered that it was for the electricity in the Facility. This soon angered him more, to which it reached his boiling point. "Why you..."
The Dragon was getting too scared as it knew what his friend/ master was about to say. "Osuwari!" Light purple was soon glowing around its neck and he soon landed head first into the ground. He knew that he deserved that for destroying such an important equipment.
