Today was the day.

Atem was going to show him where a Chrysalis was.

Finally. After how many fucking years of searching? Too many to count.

Kaiba laid very still in the bed, still ranting to himself inside his head while he watched the sunrise filter in through the frosted glass. Atem was still asleep beside him, with tiny bubbles emerging from his lips every now and then. It was too cute.

He rolled over and gave Atem a quick kiss on his cheek before sitting up slowly, feeling slightly hungry.

He'd wait, because he preferred to eat on land. He was still getting used to the fish food, and he couldn't get over the strange colors that usually arrived on his plate. He could understand why Adina threw tantrums about her food. It did look fucking weird.

Atem felt the bed shift and he gently lifted his eyelids, smiling.
Beams of sunlight danced over his shoulders, warming him nicely. Strong arms came down around his body, embracing him tightly for a few moments before Kaiba pulled him into a sitting position, gazing deeply into his eyes.

"Take me there," Kaiba said, itching all over with excitement.

Nodding sleepily, Atem leaned forward and pressed his forehead against Kaiba's shoulder, drifting back to sleep while his mind hummed with drowsiness.

"Hey! Come on," Kaiba cried, giving Atem a nudge. "Wake up."

Atem smiled, slipped his hands down Kaiba's hips, and stroked his front teasingly, feeling Kaiba's stomach clench in response.

"Want to…wake me up?" Atem asked suggestively, cracking his eyes open slightly. "It's so nice here. I don't want to leave."

"I'll show you something worth leaving for on shore," Kaiba said encouragingly, pressing a warm kiss to Atem's forehead and giving him a soft shake. "Wake up. Come on."

Sighing, Atem palmed his face and nodded.

They were interrupted by a soft knock on the glass, and Kaiba instantly recognized Seth's silhouette floating outside.

It's open! He called, rising from the bed and floating over the entryway, and sure enough, Seth emerged from the ground, looking refreshed.

"Brother," Seth held his hand out to Kaiba for a friendly shake before tilting his head in Atem's direction to greet him. "Majesty."

Kaiba slapped Seth's hand and gave him a boyish grin. He earned a confused glance in response.

What? It was a low five! …Did Seth not know what a high five was?

"You and your human customs," Seth sighed and tossed a lock of his hair over his shoulder, noting that the seaweed bow had vanished from Kaiba's hair.
He saw the piece of kelp laying sadly discarded on the sandy floor by the bed, and his skin crawled.
He had a bad feeling that they had done something dirty with that strand of kelp, but he couldn't imagine what it was without feeling sick.

"Are you coming with us?" Kaiba asked, hoping the answer would be, 'No, I'll meet up with you later,' because he wanted time alone with Atem, so he stared heatedly at Seth.

Seth understood. He grimaced and folded his arms across his chest, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.

"You two will wear yourselves out," he said loftily, before adding, "Very well, Seto, I'll give you time with him alone, since that's what you so desperately want."

He patted Kaiba on the shoulder and swam for the opening in the ground. "I don't want to soak in the Chrysalis because I know you two might have broken some laws to access one, so I will join you all on shore at sunset with Adina," he said.

"We haven't broken any laws," Atem protested nervously, but deep down, he wasn't so sure.

"Fine, don't be late," Kaiba said emptily, watching his twin exit the dwelling with a flash of his blue-green fins.

"Right, let's go," he urged, and he grabbed the king by the arm and pulled him into the tunnel, ignoring the lazy yawn from Atem.

They swam directly upwards for the Hemisphere and Atem gave Kaiba's hand a gentle tug, pointing at the expanse of ocean water behind them.

"It's this way," he said, winking handsomely at Kaiba, leading him over the glittering, glass domed rooftops of the colony, enjoying the fingers laced through his own while they swam towards shore.

After what felt like an eternity of swimming, Kaiba saw a unique rock formation that extended all the way to the dark depths below. It almost looked like an archway entrance, but it had been formed naturally over the years of high and low tides.

It was completely submerged when they approached, and Atem swam him up through a hole in the rocky cliffside.

Holding his breath, the pressure subsided around his head and shoulders when they surfaced, and Kaiba took a deep breath when he popped his head above water.

They had arrived in a tiny cave where short, pointed rocks were arranged around them in a jagged circle. The water was extremely shallow here, and his fins kept brushing against the sandy ground below.

Kaiba stamped every inch of the cave into his memory, taking in the piles of rotting seaweed and…human litter? There was a plastic bottle buried in the pebbles where the water met land, and it gleamed with filth as the sun shone down from the opening above.

Rusty metal rungs were nailed messily into the side of the rock, leading up to the clear blue sky, and Kaiba couldn't put his feelings into words.

It was overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time. Was the magic in the rocks? He couldn't read the writing on the rocks because they had faded so much. What made this pool magical? How did it fucking work?

"Come," Atem said, pulling Kaiba to the pebbled shore, and he pushed himself up to sit on the edge, making sure his fins stayed submerged in the water.

"That's it?" Kaiba asked hoarsely, heaving himself up to join Atem, and he draped his fins into the water, hating the scent of rotting seaweed. "This place needs a makeover."

"It's a decommissioned Chrysalis," Atem explained, frowning as he recited what Joey told him. "Other ones don't look like this. Some have 'Shore kits' with money, phones, and food."

"Right," Kaiba said quietly, gazing into the water and waving his tail absently. They were going to be naked when they rose.

"Joey buried a bag here with money and a phone, and those were the clothes we wore last time," Atem said, wrinkling his nose at the discarded pile of clothes draped over one of the rocks.

Kaiba recoiled when he saw a touristy t-shirt, and he dragged his hands through the pebbles, listening intently for the tell-tale whine of the cell phone when he realized…it had to be off. Shit.

"Where is it?" Kaiba asked nervously, trying not to panic, and Atem was completely at ease, pointing vaguely at the rock closest to them.

"I believe he put it there," Atem said slowly, and he watched as Kaiba scrambled to dig around it with a strange frenzy.

"You really can't let go of your human toys, can you?" The king asked gruffy, and Kaiba held the grimy plastic bag up triumphantly to the light, his heart thundering.
It was one of his old phones. Holy fuck. Thank fuck.

"Of course, thank fuck," Atem repeated playfully, biting the inside of his cheek. "Look!"

He pointed at his newly formed knees, and Kaiba nearly fell into the pool with excitement.

Glancing down at his own fins, he was dismayed to see no change had happened.

"The first time takes the longest," Atem said, smirking. "According to Joey, your body will grow accustomed to it the more it happens."

"If this place is decommissioned, does it mean it's weak? Or dangerous to use?" Kaiba asked instantly, sinking his fins lower into the pool, enraptured by the way Atem's red fins were melting away to split into two legs.

"I don't know," Atem answered truthfully, folding his arms across his chest and suppressing a shiver. "I wanted to ask you."

"Let me think," Kaiba answered simply before he dug out the phone and turned it on, relieved to see it had full power. Mokuba was the first number on speed dial, and the only number in the phone.

Thank god for his little brother.

He hit dial and pressed the phone to his ear, his skin burning when he caught another glimpse of Atem's legs. Fuck….It was making him horny….

"Seto?!" Mokuba picked up, sounding breathless and excited.

"Hey, kid," Kaiba kicked himself for the slip of his tongue but pressed on. "I need—"

"You're at the location? I'm on it!" Mokuba seemed to know more than he did about this place. "Kemo has been on standby and will pick you up right on the side of the road and drive you guys to our helipad in Kyushu. Twenty-minute ride tops, and maybe two hours in the chopper?"

Kaiba blinked incredulously and could only nod. How far were they?!
Where was this hole located? Kyushu?!

"Seto?"

"Yeah, got it," Kaiba said mindlessly, and the phone clicked off in his ear. He hastily powered it off with a shaking hand, feeling Atem's eyes following his every move.

It was no fucking wonder he couldn't find a Chrysalis. He didn't go far enough. Did that mean Mahad travelled on land for several days before reaching Kaiba Corporation? Fuck. The dedication.

Slipping the phone back into the bag, Kaiba set it aside and stared intently at his fins, pleased to see a faint pair of knees appearing underneath the blue-green sheen. His fin was turning…transparent, looking like they were wrapped eerily in a…Chrysalis.

It finally made sense.

"You figured it out?" Atem asked, shaking the water off one of his legs and proudly showing Kaiba his toes.

"Look," Kaiba said hoarsely, pointing at his fins which were growing more and more transparent to allow his legs to emerge. "You can see…bones forming. Our fins are like the pod encasing our legs. That's why this place is called the Chrysalis. As for how it works…."

"I see," Atem said simply, no longer interested. He was examining his feet with an air of satisfaction, unwittingly flashing Kaiba his front every now and then, but he was so comfortable with his naked body that he didn't seem to notice.

Breathless with excitement and wonder, Kaiba watched as his fins melted seamlessly into his thighs and calves, disappearing more and more until there was no trace of his fish's tail. Before he knew it, his own pale legs were attached to his lower body, the way he'd always known them to be.

"Thank…fuck," Kaiba said, his throat closing up with emotion.
The fish-state wasn't permanent.
He could go back to having legs anytime he fucking wanted if he swam here, and, the phone was all he needed.

"But…we are heading home after a couple of days," Atem said cautiously, hearing Kaiba's thoughts, and he hoped Kaiba wouldn't want to…stay on land forever.

"Or a week?" Kaiba suggested, slowly rising to his feet and dusting the sand off his legs. "How about a week and a half? I have some things to take care of."

"Like what?" Atem cried, dismayed. "Have Mokuba take care of it. Your life is with us, under the water. Don't get carried away up here again."

Kaiba gave Atem a long hard look and nodded stiffly. Yes. Okay.
He knew he had a problem with being a workaholic.

"Glad we agree," Atem grumbled, and he stepped around Kaiba to climb up the metal ladder first, unaware that he was giving Kaiba the best view of his ass and balls which swung merrily every time he lifted his foot to step higher.

Biting the inside of his cheek, Kaiba's stomach churned with arousal, but he held back and forced himself to look away, feeling himself blush. God…dammit.

Atem reached the very top and his spiky hair blocked out the small patch of sky as he reached his hand down to offer Kaiba help.

Kaiba threw Atem a dry smile and climbed up with ease. He sat on a rock beside Atem, gazing out over the ocean water and noticed a few beach goers spread out in the sand below.
What a nice view.
Anyone turning around to look up would see two naked men loitering atop the rock.

"I forgot our clothes!" Atem exclaimed, aiming to climb back down to fetch them. "Is it true that law enforcement will kill you on sight if you're not wearing clothes?"

Kaiba let out a barking laugh and grabbed Atem's arm to restrain him, shaking his head with mirth, "No. Don't worry about the clothes. Mokuba will have some ready for us. If he sends a car, there's always a spare suit in there. And you'd get arrested, which is different from being killed."

"I see," Atem said, narrowing his eyes as Kaiba shamelessly dragged his gaze down his body to stare at his parts. There was a tense silence, and Atem awkwardly reached a hand down to cover himself.

"Does it look strange?" He asked heatedly, and Kaiba shook his head again, his cheeks burning with longing.

"No it looks good," Kaiba said plainly, trying to keep the emotion from showing in his voice. If that car didn't come soon, he might just fuck Atem on this rock with everyone below watching….

Atem heard this and sat in horrified silence, wondering what human sex between men entailed, and he lost himself in thought, trying to recall everything Tristan and Joey had detailed about…buttocks.

Kaiba let out a sigh and wrung his hair out slowly, hating how it felt when it was half-dry and half-wet. How the fuck did people with long hair deal with this shit?

Atem watched Kaiba preen himself furiously and turned around frantically when he heard the sounds of a vehicle approaching them from behind.

The burly bodyguard he'd seen at the funeral got out of the long black car and stood beside it, holding the door open for them with a solid bow.

"Master Kaiba," he said stiffly, and Atem gaped at the man.

This visit to shore was better by far! Kaiba had it all laid out for them, whereas he and Joey had to fend off rouge cars and shouting strangers.

Atem climbed into the car hastily after Kaiba's tall form and let the bodyguard shut the door behind him. The man circled the car and got into the front beside another man who was driving the car, and they rolled slowly forward.

Excited, Atem kept his gaze nailed to the scenery outside, enjoying the way the trees zoomed by, and he received a gentle pat on his knee from Kaiba.

Atem looked at him quizzically, and Kaiba pointed at the suit wrapped in the dry-cleaning plastic.

"Ah, right." Atem said nervously, and he slid the cloth off the hanger slowly, removing it from the plastic. The way Kaiba's eyes followed his every move made his skin burn, and he tried his best to ignore it. He knew all of Kaiba's thoughts were currently centered around mating with their legs, and the idea made his stomach churn in more ways than one.

He was worried he might enjoy it…too much, or maybe, he would hate it, and that would send Kaiba spiraling into bitterness.

Fastening the buttons down his chest, Atem realized the suit fit him, and it was his first time wearing…something like this.

"How did he know?" Atem marveled, holding out his arm and admiring the way the cloth formed nicely around it. It felt…good. Almost as good as wearing stacks of jewelry. Was this why Kaiba enjoyed wearing these so much?

Kaiba smirked and folded his arms, sitting back into the seat and quietly listening to Atem's thoughts. Adorable. He inched himself closer beside the king and closed his eyes, thinking about taking a nap before the car slowed, drove up a shallow hill, and Kemo announced that they'd arrived.

Blinking excitedly, Atem got out of the car and glanced around, shocked to see a sprawling expanse of green grass before them, and in the distance, two large helicopters were perched on cement.

"Amazing!" Atem cried, throwing Kaiba a grateful look over his shoulder before he strode across the grass to inspect the helicopters.

What luck. His first time flying!

The door was opened for him by more men wearing dark suits, and Atem climbed inside gratefully, his heart nearly stopping when he saw the four, plush seats made of stark white leather with red accents. The roof was lined with strips of wavy lights that flipped on when he sat down and he felt the metal buckle of the safety harness dig into his back.

"That goes around your front," Kaiba smiled, sitting beside the king and looping the belts over his shoulders and chest, closing it with a satisfying click at his sternum. "You're sitting on yours."

Atem stiffened and hastily readjusted himself, managing to copy Kaiba exactly. It was easy enough to tie himself into the seat… but as he kept thinking about the reason why he needed the harness, his fear began to rise.

Trying not to let it get to him, he settled back into the seat and watched Kaiba reach into a pocket of the seat beside him and pull out a screen identical to the one he'd seen underwater, and he couldn't resist rolling his eyes.

Unbelievable, but at the same time, typical.

Shifting excitedly in his seat, Atem glanced out the window, his body thrumming with happiness as they began to rise off the ground, and his stomach growled, but he ignored it. He was hungry, but he was more excited than hungry.

They passed pointed tops of trees, and the sun shone into his window, casting a square patch of light across his knee, and Atem reached his arm out to sun himself, wishing he had his golden bracelets on, but he realized he wouldn't be able to see them through the suit's sleeve anyway.

Kemo exited the cockpit and sat himself down stiffly across from Mr. Kaiba, keeping his opinions to himself as he stared at the foreigner with spiky hair, noting that he looked quite unique.
Very interesting. Never a dull moment with the Kaiba family.

His phone buzzed, and he dug it out of his inner pocket, surprised to see it was a text from 'Kai_tablet_3" and Mr. Kaiba was giving him a steely-eyed look over the rim of the device.
Trying not to sweat, Kemo read the message quickly.

"Shopping list. Get these back to me in the next 2 hours after we land…"

And below, Kaiba had listed an extensive variety of sex toys and bdsm gear.

Swallowing thinly, Kemo bowed his head forward and nodded, "Yes, Master Kaiba."

He couldn't keep it in anymore. He wanted to ask a thousand questions about Mr. Kaiba's disappearance, and his mysterious naked reappearance, but Kemo remembered his contract and stayed silent. No questions, no personal thoughts, and a paycheck with many zeros awaited him at the end of every week.

But really, why the sudden need to build a sex dungeon? Master Kaiba was bordering on 50 even though he looked barely beyond his mid-twenties.

Kaiba bit back a smirk and willed his face to remain impassive.
He'd finally done it.
He'd hacked Kemo and shook him to the core.

Glad to know Kemo wasn't a robot, but too bad this wasn't a prank, because he really needed those vibrators.

Atem's stomach swooped when they began to descend, and he tried to hide his disappointment. Perhaps if he asked nicely, Kaiba would take them up into the sky again before they went back down.

They landed with a soft bump, and Kaiba unbuckled himself, seeing Atem hastily copy him, and he smirked.

"Did you enjoy that?" He asked, knowing the answer.

"Yes! Let's go again," Atem cried, his cheeks flushed prettily in the sunlight streaming in from the window.

Kaiba smiled so warmly his eyes sparkled, and Atem gazed rapturously into Kaiba's handsome face, his heart thudding happily.

Kemo bit the inside of his cheek and hastened to open the door for the couple, his ears ringing with the strange language they were speaking. He had never heard anything like it before.

Atem hopped out and was shocked to see the mansion before him, complete with the white pillars and the beautiful blue fountain in the front.

Incredible. Riding in the helicopter was like riding with a pod of dolphins except, way more comfortable.

"Tired or hungry?" Kaiba asked, feeling his own stomach growl in response, but he itched for a shower. He was still covered in bits of sand from their ascension from the Chrysalis.

"Master Kaiba?" Kemo called, holding the phone away from his ear. "Master Mokuba asks where you would like to stay. He's arranged the beach house for you and says he will meet you there in an hour."

"New plan. Give me the phone," Kaiba said impatiently, holding his hand out, and Kemo gave it to him without protest.

"…What? Hello?" Mokuba's voice drifted from the other end, and Kaiba smiled into the receiver.

"Hey, so, don't bother me for like a good five hours," Kaiba said smoothly, watching Atem poke at the flowers surrounding the fountain, and his heart skipped a beat.
Atem liked flowers. Noted.
He would fill the house with flowers.

"What? Why?" Mokuba cried, sounding confused. "I was gonna skip work to come see you! I miss you!"

"I miss having my legs," Kaiba said stiffly, wishing Mokuba could read even an inch of his mind. "And Atem has his legs. You get me?"

"No….? ….Yesssss," Mokuba hissed, and Kaiba could practically see his brother rolling his eyes. "But I thought we were going to lunch!"

"We can do lunch tomorrow," Kaiba said, already about to hang up. "Okay? See you tonight."

"…'Kay," Mokuba grumbled, and he hung up before Seto could hang up on him.

Tossing the phone back to Kemo, Kaiba tilted his head at the mansion's doors.

"Who is home right now?" He asked, not wanting Noah or Ayame to walk in on him having loud sex with Atem.

"Staff only," Kemo replied stiffly with another bow, and he itched inside his own skin.
C-Could the master be less obvious about his intentions?

"Good," Kaiba answered coolly, walking up the marble steps with his long legs. "I can be as obvious as I want, thanks. I'll text you further instructions. Now go shopping like I asked."

Atem hastened to follow, wondering if it would be rude to ask Kaiba if he could pick one of the flowers by the fountain or if they could just buy some again.

Shaken, Kemo watched as the master slammed the front doors, and he broke out into a cold sweat, finally understanding the clause in his contract behind having 'no personal thoughts'.
Master Kaiba could read minds.
Holy shit, he could read minds!
The rumors were true!

"Fuck, I broke him," Kaiba muttered, now sorely regretting ever having messed with Kemo in the first place. The silence had been preferable!

"Who did you break? Your servant outside?" Atem asked curiously, following Kaiba up the large staircase, bouncing excitedly on his toes. "He's quite loyal. You should answer his questions. He cares about you."

"No, he cares about his money, didn't you hear him?" Kaiba replied sourly, reaching the top floor and eyeing the multiple doors with trepidation, realizing he didn't know what renovations Mokuba had done since he'd been away.

"What are you looking for?" Atem asked, reaching out to grab Kaiba's hand and giving it a warm squeeze. "Lost in your own home?"

"Shut up," Kaiba growled, biting the tip of his tongue. "Looking for the bathroom because we're covered in sand."

"Oh, that's over here," Atem said warmly, leading Kaiba down another hallway and turning the corner before stepping into a spacious balcony with a matching lounge set shining in the sun.

Kaiba stared, wondering how the hell he'd ever let Mokuba have better taste than him, but then reminded himself he'd been acting like a madman for the past few years, which had allowed Mokuba to spread out comfortably.

"And then through here, I think…" Atem said, frowning as he pushed aside a frosted glass door and nearly tripped down a shallow set of steps before they arrived in the bathroom.

Atem stared, barely able to take in the luxurious marble and glass fixtures before Kaiba marched right past him and began to strip casually.

Unsure if he should be embarrassed, Atem nervously glanced at the door before he decided to stare. Right. This was fine…and the door was wide open.

Hastening to shut it, Atem saw Kaiba step into the shower and switch on the water, leaving him standing in the middle of the bathroom awkwardly, unsure of what to do with himself.

"What are you doing?" Kaiba asked, standing under the hot water and tapping the glass door. "Come in. Get clean."

Atem nodded stiffly and slowly got undressed, having a bit of difficulty with the buttons down the front of his shirt before he finally managed to take it off, and he left it neatly folded on the long, wooden bench by the large window.

He stood awkwardly in front of the foggy glass doors, waiting to be invited in again. Kaiba pushed the door aside, stuck his wet arm out to grab Atem by the hand, and pulled him into the shower.

Atem nearly slipped on the slick tile floors and he clung tightly onto Kaiba's arm, his heart pounding thickly in his ears. That was dangerous!

"Can't deal with the legs?" Kaiba asked teasingly, and he earned a sharp glare from Atem in response.

Deciding to remain dignified in his silence, Atem said nothing and stood under the rush of water, letting it wash the sand off his body, and he felt Kaiba reach down to grope his ass playfully. He froze, unsure of what to do as he felt himself tremble all over.

It…definitely felt different from when he had fins.

A long, pale arm reached over his shoulder to shut the water off, and Atem felt a hot breath grazing his ear, which turned into sweet, soft kisses down his neck, and his stomach tightened with excitement when Kaiba's palm slid up his side, resting gently on his chest, his fingertips slipping wetly over his nipple.

Shuddering happily, Atem spun around slowly to pull Kaiba into an embrace, enjoying the way his long brown hair stuck to his cheek when he pressed himself up against his chest.

His stomach growled, and Atem blushed furiously.
Kaiba snickered and pulled away to give the Atem a swift kiss on the forehead before stepping out of the shower to grab a towel. Drying himself hastily, he snuck a glance at Atem, watching him slowly pat his legs dry and continue to stare at himself, the tips of his ears bright red, clearly embarrassed by his own penis.

"Does mine look strange?" Atem asked again, unable to help himself, and he heard Kaiba let out a bark of laughter while he got dressed quickly. A tie caught him in the face, and Atem pulled it off of his head, annoyed.

"No. Does mine look strange…in the water?" Kaiba asked, genuinely curious when he realized he hadn't seen any mer-penises aside from Atem's.

Atem stepped into his pants and buckled his belt his ease, reaching for his shirt while he bit his tongue, trying to keep his composure. Kaiba's parts looked quite nice, in and out of the water. Why was this a conversation they were having?!

"Alright," Kaiba said blithely, pleased with Atem's thoughts. "What do you want to eat?"

"Fish," Atem answered uncertainly, following Kaiba out of the bathroom while he struggled to button his shirt. "The grilled kind!"

"Really? You can eat anything, and you want fish?" Kaiba asked incredulously, pausing in front of the full-length mirror to continue patting his hair dry with a towel, his respect for Mokuba rising when he realized this was why his brother always kept his hair in an elastic band most of the time. Time to steal one from his dressing room.

"Well, I don't know," Atem protested, still struggling to button his shirt and realized his claws were the main reason why he couldn't get a good grasp on the buttons. He held his hand out in front of him and waited for something to happen, waiting for his claws to shrink back into his hand the way they did when he was mer-form, but to his disappointment, he was unable to do that.

"What are you doing?" Kaiba wondered, and he saw Atem frown, frustrated.

"I can't make my claws shrink," Atem said, sounding confused, and Kaiba felt a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Up here when you're in human form, you have to cut them," he answered stiffly, marching back into the bathroom to grab a hairbrush for himself, as well as the nail clippers. He hissed in annoyance when he realized this was not his home, and there were blocks of spare soap and serum in the drawers, but nothing else.

Goddammit.

"I'm going to steal from Mokuba's room," Kaiba announced, brushing past Atem and giving the king a warm squeeze on the shoulder as he went. "Go downstairs and ask the chef for the menu."

"W-What?" Atem cried, wondering if his ears were deceiving him. "Where?"

"You'll know when you see him!" Came Kaiba's echoing reply, and Atem grit his teeth nervously, quite unsure of himself.

Kaiba heard Atem grumbling in his mind, but he ignored it lightly. He knew Atem had been in the house before, because he knew where the bathroom was, so he wasn't worried about losing the mer-king in the enormous house.

He strode through the hallways, checking briefly inside each room, trying to find Mokuba's room. It was the last one—at the end of the hall, and Kaiba stepped inside, making a beeline for his brother's closet. He swung the door back and eyed the glass case of watches in the middle of the room.
Okay…this was a new discovery.
Mokuba liked his time pieces.

Circling the display, Kaiba pulled the drawers out from underneath, searching for hair ties. The first drawer was cushioned with velvet, and had dainty, ornamental hair pieces…for women.

Annoyed, Kaiba tried the drawer beside it, and to his relief, found rows and rows of elastic ties, all sporting a tiny, metal 'M' in the center.
Vain.
Rolling his eyes, Kaiba shut the drawer and opened another one, pleased to see unopened jewelry boxes labeled 'P' for prototype. Nice. What was this?

He opened it and froze, his heart soaring with happiness when he eyed the tiny beads strung into the black elastic, spelling out Adina's name in simple golden letters. Very cute! How thoughtful!

Closing it reluctantly, he scanned the tiny velvet rows, still searching for a plain band of elastic, something without gems or beads. There were none, so Kaiba settled for one of Mokuba's ties with the letter M, and he slid it into his hair, his mind racing with ideas for hair elastic.
The possibilities were endless.
Maybe this long hair did have perks after all.
He never had to consider hair accessories.

Closing the drawer slowly, Kaiba headed out of the room and back down the grand staircase, hoping he'd find Atem in the kitchen.

Author's note:

woooo things are calming down a bit! Kaiba's got his legs back from his first dip in the chrysalis and is realizing all his shit is out of place, so he's stealing from mokuba in true sibling fashion lmao
too bad mokuba is just as vain as seto and puts his name on everything. It must run in the family.

Atem experiences land with Kaiba at his side! It is a huge difference from when he was with joey!
