Chapter 60: Dream Theatre part 2
"I do hope Rae is alright," Jolyne muttered, "I don't get what's wrong with her." The four walked down the sidewalk towards Joshua's house. "She's a pretty young kid though, she probably doesn't have her emotions down check yet," Noel said. Jolyne shook her head, "I don't know, she's kinda smart for her age." "Since when has she done anything intelligent since we've known her?" Jolyne rolled her eyes, "fair point." Kira folded his arms, "I don't see why you care so much, if she doesn't want to come, the, you can't force her, it's not that hard to understand." "She's still part of our team," Noel said, "unlike you, we actually care about her well-being." Kira chuckled, "whatever you say, tell me Joshua, why is it you live in such a dump?" Joshua shrugged, "why would I waste my money on some fancy place to live by myself?" "Fair point."
The four entered the flat where Joshua lived. "So, how exactly do we plan on getting all of these Arrow pieces?" Noel asked, "it's not like we can just drive all over the place and pick them up." "Actually, we can," replied Joshua, "and that's exactly what we're gonna do." Noel raised an eyebrow, "oh, I was expecting a more, you know, exciting plan, but I guess that works fine." "There's no point in trying something complicated, right now, we have to play this down the middle." Joshua turned to the group, "as long as we're all on the same page, this shouldn't be hard at all." Joshua turned to Kira, "is that understood?" Kira smirked, "why is it you look at me, hm? Have I not gained your trust yet?" Joshua folded his arms, "you certainly don't make a good case for yourself," he said, "if you want to be a part of this group for the long run, I suggest you loosen up a bit, we're all equal here, don't act like your better than us." Kira chuckled to himself, "that's fine by me, if it makes you feel better, then I'll do what I can, but don't expect me to change for any of you." Kira walked away, leaving the three behind. "God, that guy is such a prick," Jolyne muttered, "honestly, why do we even bother?" "Because our group is stronger with him then without him," replied Joshua, "whether we like it or not, we have to deal with it."
"Hold up Bronny," Rae muttered, "I'm tired…" Bronny turned to the younger girl, he rolled his eyes, "oh come on, you can't possibly be tired from a little walking." Rae pouted, "look man, I didn't have lunch, I can't run on an empty stomach!" Bronny scoffed, "alrighty then, come on, let's get something to eat real quick." Bronny patted Rae on the head and took her hand. As he turned, he accidently bumped into an older man. "O-Oh, sorry about that," Bronny said. Rae slapped Bronny's neck, "watch where you're going ya bum!" "H-Hey! I didn't see the guy." The two walked off, bickering with each other. The older man turned, he looked at his arm, a bit of blood was on it. "Perfect," the man said, "this is just perfect, now I can begin."
"Jeez, where the hell are these two?" Jolyne looked at her watch, "we've been waiting for like twenty minutes." Noel folded her arms, "you think they could've gotten in trouble do you?" She asked, "I mean, if that white thing is out there, it could send someone after him, right?" Jolyne sighed, "maybe, but Bronny can handle whatever comes after him." The two girls stood in silence for a bit, "so," Noel muttered, "that star on your shoulder, I always thought it was just some dumb tattoo, but Josh keeps telling me it's apart of your family or something like that."
Jolyne nodded, "yeah, it goes back a long time too, but I'm not worried about the past, just gotta keep looking towards the future." "Well said Jolyne," replied Noel, "you know, maybe I was a bit wrong about you, you're actually pretty cool to hang out with." Jolyne chuckled, "I'm overjoyed to hear I've earned your approval," she remarked, "at least you aren't the same petty bitch from before, or I guess you still are, but I've just grown to accept it." Noel scoffed, "whatever you say Jolyne, you know, I feel like you should be giving me a bit more respect, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have gotten out of Castel Nuovo." Jolyne rolled her eyes, "I guess, but then again, maybe your sister would still be alive if that didn't happen." Noel nodded slightly, "Yeah… but, maybe it's best that way, she wasn't the best person, she's in a better place." "Don't you think you should talk better about your sister, especially since she's, you know." "Not like you talk about your dad or anything."
Jolyne was taken aback by that, "what did you just say?" Noel sighed, "Bronny had mentioned that you don't like to talk about your dad a while ago." Jolyne huffed, "ugh, that idiot…" She folded her arms in annoyance, "so, what the hell does that have to do with anything?" Noel smirked, "you were just saying that I should talk better about my sister, seems like you should do the same for your father." Jolyne frowned, "mind your fucking business Noel, It's not your problem." "Clearly." Noel looked at Jolyne, "I just think you shouldn't give advice for something you can't do yourself." Jolyne turned her head, staying quiet. Noel shrugged, "just when I thought we were becoming friends too, you know Jolyne, my sister may have been a piece of shit, but I still loved her, I can acknowledge her flaws while-" "Can you just change the subject please?" Noel tilted her head, "jeez, didn't think it was such a big deal." Jolyne rubbed her neck, "it's not, it's just…"
"Hello." The two girls yelped in surprise. "B-Bronny! Ugh, don't sneak up like that you goof!" Bronny rubbed his neck, "sorry about that." Jolyne folded her arms, "you're at least twenty minutes late dude," she said, annoyed, "where's Rae?" Bronny titled his head, "oh, the girl, yeah she didn't want to come, couldn't convince her." Jolyne raised an eyebrow, "the girl? Why did he…" She shook her head, "whatever, if that's what she wanted to do, you can't change that." Bronny nodded, "sucks, but it is what it is, let's go inside, don't want to keep the others waiting." Bronny walked past the two into the house. "is it me, or is Bronny acting… weird?" Noel asked. "No, he definitely is," replied Jolyne, "somethings up, come on, lets go."
