The Quiet One Part 3
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"I know you can do this, uphold your reputation and take down his Egyptian God Card unless you don't have what it takes. Maybe your Duelist Kingdom championship victory was just a fluke." Kaiba told Yami who pulled himself to his feet.
"I will defeat him Kaiba, I assure you. Marik it's over." He told the Quiet One who chuckled.
"My Egyptian God Card is unstoppable." He said, he then turned his gaze to Kaiba. "And you're my next victim Kaiba, once Slifer the Sky Dragon annihilates the Pharaoh I'm coming after your Egyptian God Card."
"Your empty threats don't scare me." Kaiba replied.
"They will in time fool." The Quiet One said with a sneer.
Yami looked at the three cards in his hand, they were Big Shield Gardna, Berfomet and Alpha the Magnet Warrior. "I've got to find a way to defeat his Egyptian God Card, but it has close to 10,000 Attack points none of my monsters even come close to that. And with every card he draws, Slifer gets stronger it must have some weakness and I'll find it." He thought.
"Quit stalling Pharaoh, admit your defeat or let me end this now." The Quiet One demanded growing impatient with the Pharaoh.
"I draw." Yami said, drawing a card. "Monster Reborn will come in handy later." He thought. "I set one card face down, and then I summon Big Shield Gardna in defence mode." He said, the set card appeared in front of him first, followed by Big Shield Gardna who was kneeling behind his massive shield.
"Did you forget about my Sky Dragon's special ability? Let me remind you, it's second set of jaws!" the Quiet One shouted, Slifer unleashing a blast from its second mouth at Big Shield Gardna. "When you summon a monster, it automatically is attacked by Slifer, his second mouth attack drains 2000 points from whichever mode your monster is in at the time."
The blast struck Big Shield Gardna, covering the monster in smoke. "How is he going to defeat that dragon, it's unstoppable. He won't last much longer." Mokuba said in worry.
"He better survive long enough for me to find out Slifer's weakness so I can defeat it and add it to my deck later." Kaiba replied, narrowing his eyes when the smoke cleared, showing Big Shield Gardna still on the field.
"His monster survived…" Mokuba said.
"Barely." His older brother added, the monster's defence points dropping to only 600.
"Your big shield has been cut down to size, and my Egyptian God Card will continue to automatically devastate your monsters as soon as they're summoned to the field. Just one more attack and your only defence will be demolished, leaving nothing between you and Slifer. Where is your faith in the cards now Pharaoh?" the Quiet One asked.
He then drew his next card and he smirked. "I now count eleven cards in my hand, meaning Slifer the Sky Dragon has over 11,000 Attack points!"
"Whoa, that's already three times the attack points of your Blue Eyes White Dragon." White Veemon told Kaiba in concern who was watching on as Slifer's body glowed red with power and the dragon roared as its power increased.
"And it'll only get stronger." Kaiba said. "Yugi's opponent has infinite cards in play allowing him to hold as many cards as he wants."
"And the more cards he holds in his hand the more attack points his dragon has, that means there's no limit to how strong his Egyptian God Card can grow." Mokuba said.
"Or is there?" White Veemon asked, looking to Kaiba who returned the look before his eyes widened.
"That's it, Slifer's power depends on how many cards the player has in his entire deck. Slifer the Sky Dragon has one fatal flaw, now let's see if he can duelist enough to figure it out." He thought, smirking down at Yami as the duel continued.
"Now my Sky Dragon attack and eradicate his shield. The only thing that stands between him and destruction!" The Quiet One shouted, Slifer roaring as he destroyed Big Shield Gardna with an energy blast from its main set of jaws. "Soon his puzzle and the world will be mine!"
"I've never faced a monster like this before, Slifer gets stronger with every card he draws." Yami thought before his eyes widened. "That's it, that's how I'll destroy it. I will make Slifer destroy itself." He said.
"About time." Kaiba said with a smirk.
"What makes you think you can?" the Quiet One questioned his opponent.
"It's a simple matter of common sense. If my monsters are too weak, I'll use your own monster to destroy itself." Yami told him.
"Haven't you realised by now you can't control an Egyptian God, it's much too powerful." The Quiet One said.
"We'll see. Perhaps you don't know as much about the Egyptian God Card as you think." Yami said, angering the Quiet One and Marik.
"How dare you question my knowledge about the Ancient Ways, I know all!" he snarled.
"We'll find out just how much you know soon enough Marik." Yami replied.
"I'd like to see you try to turn Slifer against me." The Quiet One growled.
"What's he talking about, that dragon seems way too strong to me." Mokuba said to his brother.
"It's quite simple actually, Slifer's greatest strength is also its greatest weakness." White Veemon answered. "Am I right?" he asked Kaiba.
"Exactly. Now let's how this plays out."
"Time for you to make your move, I promise that I'll be your last one." The Quiet One told Yami.
"We'll see about that Marik." Yami said. "If I don't draw the right card now, his dragon will crush me, but I know the Heart of the Cards will guide me." He thought drawing his next card.
"Well what is it?" the Quiet One asked.
"Just the card I need to take you down." Yami told him with a smirk.
"Looks like he got his card, but that's only half the battle. This strategy requires perfect timing, it's not over yet." Kaiba thought, watching on with a smug smirk as Yami made his move.
"Prepare to lose. I activate my face down card, Monster Reborn!" he said.
"What good will that do?" the Quiet One questioned.
"This card allows me to bring back one monster from the Graveyard, and I choose to resurrect my mighty Buster Blader." Yami said, his swordsman appearing in a brilliant flash of light.
"That monster? Slifer has already destroyed it once before and summoning it to defend your life-points will only delay the inevitable." The Quiet One said.
"Look again Marik, Buster Blader has been summoned in Attack mode." Yami replied, his monster readying to attack as Slifer roared back angrily.
"What a foolish move, with his Buster Blader in attack mode my dragon's blast will not only destroy his monster but also wipe out the rest of his life-points and win me this duel. Claiming his puzzle was a simpler task than I thought." Marik thought.
"I know I can't win this duel by just defending my life-points, that's why I'm risking this entire duel on one final sword strike from my swordsman." Yami said.
"You're more of a fool than I thought, you've left yourself wide open. My Egyptian God Card will defeat you, have you forgotten about my five-card combination that makes Slifer the Sky Dragon completely invincible. Perhaps I should remind you, first Care of Safe Return lets me draw three cards every time a monster is revived. Since you resurrected your Buster Blader, I can now draw three more cards to increase the number of cards in my hand."
"Yes, and the more cards you hold, the stronger your dragon becomes." Yami said.
"Right, so Slifer gains 3000 additional attack points, giving it a total of 14,000!" the Quiet One said, drawing three cards as his Egyptian God Card grew stronger.
"And you forgot that bringing Buster Blader back from the graveyard activates Slifer's second mouth blasting 2000 Attack points away from your monster." The Quiet One continued, Slifer unleashing a blast from his second mouth at Buster Blader weakening it.
"Buster Blader's strong enough to survive your attack." Yami said as Buster Blader's attack points fell to 1100.
"My next attack will finish you off forever!" the Quiet One promised. "Your Buster Blader may have survived that last attack, and it's still no match for my Egyptian God Card. In my next turn, your monster and your life-points will be completely wiped out."
"I'm afraid there won't be a next turn for you. Once my Buster Blader attacks your Egyptian God Card, it'll be over for you Marik." Yami told him.
"Has he lost it; his Buster Blader won't even put a scratch on Slifer the Sky Dragon." Mokuba thought.
"If his plan works, my suspicions on how to defeat Slifer the Sky Dragon will be confirmed. It all comes down to this, someone is about to lose this duel." Kaiba thought.
"Buster Blader, attack Slifer the Sky Dragon with your powerful sword!" Yami commanded, his monster nodded jumping into the air towards Slifer.
"Have you forgotten that Slifer the Sky Dragon is protected by my ultimate defender, the shapeshifting Revival Jam?" the Quiet One questioned, his Revival Jam leaping into the way being destroyed by Buster Blader's attack. "Now once my Revival Jam revives itself, I get to draw three more cards. Slifer the Sky Dragon will become only more powerful."
"I'm afraid it's still my turn." Yami reminded him, watching as Revival Jam slowly reformed on the field. "Now I use the magic card Brain Control, now I'll take control of your monster." He said playing the magic card.
"I think I get it now." Mokuba whispered. "He must want to use Brain Control to take over the dragon's mind, but I still don't think it'll work."
"Foolish Yami, no magic cards work on my Egyptian God Card, now you will pay the price of your foolishness." The Quiet One said.
"Who said I was attempting to control your Egyptian God?" Yami asked.
"You're not!?" the Quiet One asked.
"No Marik, there is another monster on the field you control, and it is that one I shall take." Yami answered, instead of reforming in front of the Quiet One, Revival Jam reformed in front of Yami instead.
"My Revival Jam is the monster you took control off? But that card will be of no use to you, it's far too weak to harm my dragon." The Quiet One said.
"Well why don't you draw your three new cards, since Revival Jam was revived Card of Safe Return activates." Yami said.
"I'll do just that, and when I do Slifer will have an attack power of 17,000." The Quiet One said, drawing the three cards making his Egyptian God Card grow stronger.
"And don't forget, your dragon's special ability forces it to attack Revival Jam with its second mouth." Yami said, the Quiet One's eyes widened as Slifer did just that obliterating Revival Jam with its attack from its second mouth. "You know what happens now."
"Revival Jam…revives itself again." The Quiet One said, Revival Jam appeared on the field reforming in front of Yami.
"And each time a monster regenerates you have to draw three new cards from your dueling deck." Yami said, the Quiet One doing just that.
"This can't be, whenever Revival Jam reappears on the field my dragon automatically attacks it. And since Yami controls Revival Jam it will revive itself on his side of the field, which makes me draw three new cards. Then my dragon will attack again…each event triggers the next in a never-ending cycle. First attack, then regenerate, then draw." Marik thought, as the events unfolded repeatedly just like he said.
"My Egyptian God card will continue to grow stronger with each cycle as I draw more cards. But it doesn't matter, because I'm trapped. Ah there's no way out!" he shouted through his mind slave.
"That's right Marik. And once you run out of cards to draw you will automatically lose this duel." Yami told him.
"No, this can't be happening!" the Quiet One shouted, some of the cards in his hand slipping and falling to the ground.
"As powerful as your Egyptian God Card is, no monster is without weakness and your Egyptian God Card's weakness lies within its special ability, its second mouth attack." Yami said, watching as Slifer attacked Revival Jam again, destroying it before Revival Jam reformed only to be destroyed by Slifer again as the Quiet One continued drawing cards increasing the dragon's attack power.
"I have no control over my Egyptian God Card, as long as Brain Control is in effect my dragon will keep attacking Revival Jam, my mind slave will keep drawing cards until…no!" Marik shouted as he realised that the Quiet One had finally run out of cards to draw.
"I turned your dragon against you, causing you to use up all the cards in your dueling deck. Which means I win!" Yami told him, the Quiet One dropping all the cards in his hand as he fell to his knees with a blank expression, Slifer the Sky Dragon roared lowly as smoke began to pour out of its body as the giant monster fell to the ground vanishing in a giant cloud of smoke.
"No, this can't be. How could I lose with an Egyptian God Card in my deck?" Marik shouted as his ship neared Domino City, he gripped his hair in his hands and pulled in frustration. "You will pay Yami, you may have defeated Slifer, but I hold another Egyptian God Card, a much more powerful one. Savour this victory while you can, for it will be your last!"
"He won the duel, what a totally awesome comeback." Mokuba said, running down to the Quiet One with White Veemon close behind him. "Hand over your Egyptian God Card to him, tournament rules." He ordered the Quiet One who remained silent.
"I think he's out of it." White Veemon said. "That loss must have taken a lot out of him." He reasoned, before he saw the Egyptian God Card on the ground and picked it up and walked over to Yami. "Here you go, you earned this card." He told him.
"And that's not all." Mokuba said, picking up the Quiet One's Locator Card and walking over to Yami. "Just don't be too attached to that card, my brother wants it and sooner or later he's going to win it from you." He promised Yami.
"I'm sure he will." Yami said with a small smirk, looking at the God Card in his hand he felt it tingle as well as something in his mind slowly become unclouded.
He then saw Kaiba walking over to him, but before the two could exchange words, they both heard the Quiet One let out rasps and squeaks clutching at his throat before he stood up the eye on his forehead glowing brightly. "I'd be careful with that God Card Yami, the Egyptian God Cards are too powerful for most mortal men to wield them, the Quiet One himself was cursed to lose his voice by simply carrying Slifer the Sky Dragon in his deck." Marik spoke through the mind slave.
"I've had enough of these mind games Marik, why don't you face me yourself?" Yami asked him.
"Worry not Pharaoh, I'm on my way to Battle City as we speak. Once I'm there, the next phase of plan begins, I assure you the power of the Pharaoh will be mine. My loyal mind servants are preparing for my arrival right now." Marik said, on his ship as it neared the harbour of Domino City.
"Where are they Marik?" Yami asked him.
"I have Rare Hunters in Battle City. And I can see all, I see the Millennium Puzzle around your neck. I see a defenceless city just waiting to be conquered, and I see potential mind slaves in every crowd. I'm always searching for new servants to add to my army of Rare Hunters, I wonder who will be next." Marik said with a smirk.
Somewhere in the city, one of his Mind Slaves was hiding in a crowd, their eyes focused solely on Daisuke, Tea, Tristan, and Solomon who were chatting while searching for another duelist for Daisuke to challenge. "Tell me Pharaoh which one of your precious friends will make the best puppet for me to control, Tea, or perhaps Daisuke?"
"You leave them alone!" Yami snapped, glaring at Marik angrily. "I'm warning you!"
"Well it appears I've hit your sensitive spot haven't I, Pharaoh? Perhaps I can use your friends to get what I want from you, mainly your puzzle and the Egyptian God Card you've won." Marik replied.
"I told you, leave my friends out of this!" Yami told him.
"Or else you'll what? Your friends are meaningless to me; besides, I have nothing to lose and the whole world to gain." Marik said cruelly.
"Do not test me; if any harm befalls my friends you will regret it Marik, they did nothing to you, so you settle your score with me." Yami told him.
"Just as my dragon's one weakness destroyed it, your loyalty to your friends will soon destroy you." Marik said before the Quiet One slumped to the ground, his eyes blank and mind empty.
"Marik!" Yami shouted, before he turned and ran off.
"Hey get back here!" Kaiba shouted, Yami stopped and glared over his shoulder at him.
"Our duel will have to wait. My friends are in grave danger and I must save them." He told the older Kaiba brother who huffed.
"So, you say." He said, walking over to Yami. "But if this means Daisuke is in danger, you can bet I'm going to make sure nobody lays a hand on her."
"I didn't know you cared this much for her." Yami replied, earning a scoff from Kaiba.
"Hardly, she challenged me to a duel earlier before I came here, and I intend to make sure she can duel me." He replied before the two ran off followed by Mokuba and White Veemon.
Meanwhile at Marik's ship, the boat finally reached the docks and he disembarked shedding his Rare Hunter cloak and climbing onto a motorbike before he sped off with a smirk, duel disk on his arm and Millennium Rod tucked in the saddle bag of the bike. "Soon your power will be mine Yami, and with your friends at my disposal I'll destroy you once and for all." He thought as he rode the bike through the streets of Battle City while Yami raced to find his friends before Marik did.
"I have to find the others, before Marik puts them all in danger." He thought, Kaiba, Mokuba and White Veemon right behind him.
