The Tennyson House
Ben
After I had gotten back from Uncle Frank and Aunt Natalie's place last night, I got out of my costume and got into bed with Gwen and fell asleep, without even changing into pajama pants. It had been a long day and it had taken its toll on me, I was exhausted. I slept through the night and until noon the following day.
Once I finally decided to get up, I found myself to be alone in the bedroom, which wasn't really a surprise. I sat up and Snowball lifted her head up to look at me as I did. I began to scratch her behind the ears. Once I drew back my hand, I watched her stretch for a second, before I turned away and got out of bed.
I walked over to the dresser and got out a pair of jeans. After getting those on, I went to the closet and got out a long sleeved shirt. I walked out of the room after that and into the living room to see Mom sitting on the couch.
"Are you okay? I heard that you got home real late last night."
I nodded.
"Don't worry about me. What about you? Are you okay?"
She rested her fingers against her forehead and sighed.
"I think I will be." She said, before retracting her hand and looking at me again. "What about him? Did you get him?"
I shook my head.
"Not exactly, but he won't be a threat anymore."
Mom looked confused.
"What do you mean?"
I began to scratch the back of my neck.
"During our fight, the guy and I ended up in a factory. And uh, he kinda blew it up as he was trying to kill me."
"You blew up a building?!"
I put my hands up in defense and shook my head.
"No, he did."
"Fine." She seemed to hiss with impatience. "How do you know that he's taken care of?"
"No one could have survived that explosion, Mom." I lied. "He won't be bothering us anymore."
"How did you survive, then?"
"What? You'd rather see your son dead than alive?"
She looked at me with shock.
"Sorry, I was just joking."
"Well, it was a bad joke. Anyway, if this explosion was so big, how did you survive it?"
"I had enough time to get myself to safety before it actually happened."
"What do you mean?"
"He used a bomb to blow up the factory. I had time to move before it went off."
"And you're sure that we're going to be okay?"
I nodded.
"Trust me. You won't be seeing any more of him."
She let out a sigh of relief.
"Good, good. Now, if there's something you'd rather be doing, I won't keep you for any longer."
"Okay, I'll talk to you later."
"See you soon."
I left the living room and headed for the hall to the basement stairs. I walked down the basement stairs, as I was deep in thought.
So, is this my life now? Living a lie? I can't ever tell anyone about who The Ultimate Sixsix really was. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get used to the prospect...
I came to a stop at the last stair and saw Albedo sitting on the couch in front of the T.V.
"Hey." I called out.
He turned around to look at me.
"Hey. Good morning."
"Good morning." I replied, even though it was no longer morning. "Where did the girls go?"
"They went out a while ago, said something about girl stuff. I didn't ask anything else."
I chuckled as I walked to sit down next to him.
"Yeah, I suppose I wouldn't, either."
He cleared his throat and changed the subject.
"So, is it done? With that guy, I mean?"
I nodded.
"Yes, it is. We won't be hearing from him anymore."
"How'd it go for him?"
"I think he died in a factory explosion."
"Ouch, I'd hate to be him in that case."
"Yeah, I'd imagine that he didn't go peacefully."
"We haven't really hung out just the two of us in a while. You want to play some video games or something?"
"Sure, dude. Let's hang out..."
Before I could finish speaking, my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw that Julie was calling.
"Sorry, I have to take this." I replied.
I didn't wait for Albedo to respond and answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Ben!" Julie greeted me. "Do you want to come by our place for lunch today?"
"I'd like to, but..."
"Great! We'll see you soon!"
And with that, she hung up on me.
"I'm kind of busy right now." I finished my sentence as I brought my phone away from my ear.
I turned to look at Albedo.
"Sorry man, it looks like I can't hang out right now."
He shrugged.
"I get it. We'll hang out later, man."
I nodded as I got up.
"See you later."
I headed toward the stairs so that I could get my shoes and jacket on. Once I had gotten upstairs and changed in my room, I walked out into the living room to tell Mom where I was going.
"Hey, I'm going over to Julie's for lunch. Hopefully I'll be back soon."
"Okay, have fun."
I nodded.
"I will. See you later."
"Bye."
I stepped out the door and before I could even get to my car, I felt my phone begin to vibrate again. I took it out and once I looked at it, I let out a sigh. It was Aunt Natalie calling me. I answered the phone.
"Hello?"
Without even a greeting, she made a demand.
"I want you to come over for tea this afternoon. We need to talk."
"Hey, I'm kind of busy this..."
"Good day! I'll see you this afternoon."
After interrupting me, she hung up. I sighed with frustration as I slipped my phone back into my pocket.
She won't even let me speak. I can already tell that this is going to be a fun afternoon. Fine, I'll go to Julie's first, then I'll go over to Aunt Natalie and Uncle Frank's. If she's going to make me do this, then we're doing it my way.
After those thoughts had cleared, I stepped off the stoop and walked over to my car.
Sometime Later
Julie and Cooper's Apartment
I gotten there and we had sat down for lunch, the three of us.
"So, it's over, then?" she asked.
I nodded.
"Yes. As far as I know that guy won't be causing me or my family any more problems."
"What did he want with you anyway?" Cooper asked.
"I couldn't tell you." I lied once again.
"Well, at least he won't be a threat to you anymore." Julie replied.
"Amen to that." I agreed.
Sometime Later
After lunch, Julie stayed in the kitchen to wash the dishes while I chilled in the living room. After a while, Cooper emerged from the kitchen. I looked up at him before I spoke.
"Shouldn't you be helping your girlfriend with the dishes?" I asked.
"She can handle it." he said. "Besides, there are more important matters at hand."
"Such as?" I asked, fishing for information.
"Can we go down to my warehouse? I need to talk to you about something."
"We can talk here!" I said as I chuckled.
"It's a little complicated." He said. "I'd prefer that Julie not hear about it."
I stared at him, finding myself dumbfounded, before I eventually rolled my eyes.
"Fine." I said. "But let's go now and get it out of the way. I have other things I need to get to today."
He nodded.
"Okay."
He then walked over to the doorway and poked his head into the kitchen.
"Julie, Ben and I are going down to the warehouse. We'll be back soon!"
"Okay, I'll be here!" she called back.
Cooper returned to the living room and nodded at me.
"Okay, let's go."
Sometime Later
Cooper's Warehouse – The Riverfront
Cooper and I had taken my car down to the warehouse, on the account that I didn't plan to return with him.
"So, what do we need to talk about?" I asked as we walked into the warehouse. "And why couldn't we talk about it at the apartment?"
Cooper turned to face me.
"The other day, someone came to me asking for a high powered sniper rifle."
I looked at him with surprise, no longer annoyed.
"Would you know anything about that?"
I shook my head.
"No, but last night, someone fired a rifle of some kind against that Sixsix copycat, giving me an opportunity to gain the upper hand."
"Do you think that the two of them are the same person?" he asked.
I shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe. Do you know who he was?"
He shook his head.
"No, the guy kept his face covered the entirety time. For all I know, he might have been disguising his voice, too. Even when I told him that I didn't make or sell firearms, he insisted upon it. So, I went along with it, even if I didn't like doing it. Still, I only noticed one thing about him, though."
I ignored his comment about the guy being persistent about it. That much was obvious.
"What did you notice about him?"
"He had green eyes. That's all I really noticed."
I turned away from him as I began to think.
Green eyes. Is that it? I expected a little more than that, like a scar or something?
"So, what happened?"
"Well, I got him a sniper rifle. I'm not proud of how I went about doing it, but I did it."
"I'm not even going to ask about how you did it. Legal means or not, I'm pretty sure the guy who fired at my attacker saved my life. So, I'll let it go."
"Fine by me."
"Is that all? Because I need to get going."
"No, you can go now. Have a good rest of your day."
I began walking toward the warehouse's exit.
"You, too."
"I'll let Julie know that you had to take off!"
"Yeah, you do that."
Sometime Later
Frank and Natalie Tennyson's House
I had reached Uncle Frank and Aunt Natalie's house. As I got out of my car, I let out a sigh.
I really didn't want to be here right now, I thought.
I walked up to the front door, stepped up onto the stoop and knocked. I waited for a few seconds, expecting to get an answer within that time frame, but I didn't. Eventually, after a while, maybe half a minute, Aunt Natalie answered the door. She stood there, staring at me with a disapproving gaze. Seeing that look on her face made me unhappy.
"What?" I asked as I lifted my arms on both sides. "What did I do to you now?"
"You're late." She said, glare still present on her face.
"Well, sorry if I have a life, Nat!" I exclaimed. "I can't always be ready! Things come up, you know! They..."
"Come inside." She said, interrupting me as she turned around. "We'll talk."
Her interrupting me almost made me storm off in anger, but I didn't. I followed her into the house, closing the door behind me as I did. She walked into the kitchen and I followed as she turned on the light.
"You said that we will talk." I said as I sat down on the table, watching her fill the tea kettle with water and putting it on the stove. "What is there to talk about?"
She turned on the burner before sitting down at the table across from me.
"Before we do that, how's my daughter?" she asked. "I trust that she's been well in your company?"
For some reason, hearing Aunt Natalie address Gwen as "her daughter" upset me a bit.
"Your daughter has a name!" I said with anger as I stood up. "You ought to use it!"
She seemed unphased to my reaction.
"I apologize." She said, not sounding sorry. "How is she?"
I crossed my arms and sat back down, seeing that being angry wouldn't do me any good.
"She's fine. She's okay."
"Good, good. I'm glad to hear it."
After that, we both sat in silence. An uncomfortable silence, that is. Eventually, I looked at her with a confused gaze.
"So?" I asked.
I heard the kettle begin to whistle and that prompted her to get up, before she finally spoke again.
"This isn't going to be easy for me to say." She said as she poured the water into the mugs on the counter.
"Okay? Then say it."
"I'm getting to it." she said as she put a tea bag in each mug.
She returned to the kitchen table before speaking again.
"We both know that I don't like the idea of you dating my daughter."
"Gwen." I said. "Gwen. If you're going to talk about her, you should say her name. Disowning her may be bad, but I think refusing to say her name is worse."
She let out a sigh of annoyance.
"Fine, Gwen. I may not want to accept the fact that you're dating her, but I'm going to have to. I'm going to allow her to continue staying with you."
"You will?"
She nodded.
"Don't think it's because I've taken a liking to you. I know that she really loves you and after you brought my son, Ken, back to me, I know that you can keep her safe."
Ken isn't really a valid example, at least that's how I feel, I thought.
"Gwen can come and go as she pleases. She can stay here or with you. I don't care where she is as long as I know that she's happy."
I nodded.
"As long as she's happy? Okay, then."
She got up from the table again. I watched as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Uh, where are you going now?" I asked.
"Just follow me." She replied.
And so I did. I followed her around the corner and down the hall toward her and Frank's bedroom. I have to admit, I was a little unnerved by this.
"Why are we headed toward your bedroom?"
"You'll see."
That made me nervous. I didn't like where this was going. I followed her into the room and she stopped in front of her dresser. She then opened up her jewelry box and dug through it for a few seconds. As she dug through it, she began speaking.
"When your great, great grandfather, my side of the family, Jedediah came over from England, this is the only personal item that he brought with him."
She then pulled out a silver ring, with an emerald set in the middle of it.
"Wow." I couldn't help but marvel at the ring.
It was a really nice ring. She continued speaking as she shut the jewelry box.
"During an archeological dig in Asia, he found a small emerald, which he would later have cut and put into a ring. When he had his children, he passed it down to his son. It's a family heirloom, you see." She said as she turned to face me. "But you see, I was the only child of my parents, and the ring was usually given to the men of the family."
Then how did you end up with it?
"Well, they had to pass it down to someone and that someone was me. I never liked wearing it that much, but I always loved the sight of it."
She looked up at me.
"I ended up pawning it off for a night of drinking that I no longer remember. I wasn't exactly the most stable person when I was younger."
"Well, I see you bought it back."
She shook her head.
"No, my then boyfriend bought it back because he knew how much I loved the ring. He used all of the money that he had saved up at that point to buy it back for me. That's when I knew, if someone cared about me so much to the point that they'd give away their savings, I had to clean up my act."
I continued waiting for the point of this story.
"That man would eventually go on to be the father of my children."
Uncle Frank was that man?
I don't know why, but I felt surprised to hear this.
"Anyway, Ken and Gwen were born, at separate times of course, and I eventually decided that I would pass this ring down to Ken."
Then...
"Then why is it here in your jewelry box and not in Ken's possession?"
She sighed.
"He never really liked it. When I gave it to him, he eventually stopped wearing it and when I took it back, he never said anything."
She then surprised me by putting her hand out to me, still holding the ring.
"And now I've decided to pass it down to you, as a sign of my trust in you."
What? Is she being serious?
"Also, when and if you and Gwen have children, I hope that you'll pass it down as I have tried."
I could now tell that Nat was being serious. The last couple things that she had said, she had said them in a warm, kind and genuine tone.
"Go on now and take it, before I change my mind about you."
I continued staring at her, prompting her to nod, which told me that she was being serious. And so, I took the ring from her hand.
Half An Hour Later
Aunt Natalie and I had sat down to drink our tea and now that we had done that, I was planning to leave.
"Well, thanks for having me, Nat." I said as I stood up from the table. "But I should really get going."
"Well, alright then. But don't you want to check in on my son before you go?"
I was very reluctant to check in on Ken, given my experience with him over the last few days.
"I don't know if that's such a good idea, Nat." I replied.
"Oh, it's fine! Go right ahead!"
I let out a sigh.
"If you say so."
So, even though I didn't want to, I began walking toward Ken's room. On my way there, I was panicking on the inside.
What if he flips out once he sees me?
However, I was worried for nothing. Once I walked into his room, he looked up from his spot lying on his bed and eventually smiled at me.
"Hey, pal." He said as he lifted the icepack he had against his head and pointed at the side of his head. "Hit my head."
"So I heard, buddy." I replied with a nod.
"So, you're finished with high school, right man?" he asked.
Wow, his memory must be a mess right now. He's recalling things that haven't even happened yet!
I shook my head.
"No, I'm still in high school, actually. Senior year."
"Oh." He said as a confused look came to his face. "What about my sister? Have you seen her around? I can't seem to find her around here."
No, you wouldn't, I thought.
"Your sister is going to school at St. Agnes in Downtown Bellwood. At least, I think it's St. Agnes."
"I believe it was. Erm, is."
"Look man, I would love to stay and talk more, but I have school tomorrow and I need to finish my homework. Besides, I should probably let you rest up."
"Okay, man. Well the next time you're here, why don't we hang out and game for a while?"
I nodded.
"Yeah, you bet we will. All right, I'm gone. Try to feel better, dude."
I turned around and walked toward the front door of the house.
I think that this might work out, I thought.
Why would you ever for a second think that?
The Following Day – Monday, January 28th, 2019
Madison High School
The following day when we got to school, I seperated from the main group to get my textbooks from my locker.
"Hi, Ben."
I turned to my right, to see Kai standing beside me.
"Oh hi, Kai." I said as I reached into my locker for one of my textbooks.
"How are you feeling today?"
"Pretty good." I replied as I put one of my textbooks into my backpack.
I reached back into my locker and grabbed the rest of the textbooks that I needed.
"Did you settle the situation with that guy who attacked you?"
I nodded as I put the rest of the books into my bag.
"Yes. He won't be threatening anyone anymore."
"That's good."
I zipped up my bag, as I turned to look at her, to see a glum look on her face.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
I stood up and shut my locker.
"No, seriously. What's wrong?"
I looked back at her, to see the same glum face.
"I've just been thinking about how nice you were to me the other day. And I don't deserve any of it."
"It's as it should be. I owe you my life."
"No you don't."
"Yes, I do. If it weren't for you finding me in that dumpster, I'd be dead right now."
"Regardless of that probably being true, I still don't deserve your kindness."
"But of course, you do! Why would you think otherwise?"
She looked back at me with sad, conflicted eyes.
"I was such a terrible person to you and now you're just being nice to me in my time of need, it doesn't seem right."
Haven't we been over this already?
I let out a sigh as I put my hand on her shoulder.
"We can't change the past, Kai. All we can do is accept what's done and try to move on."
She looked up at me without saying anything.
"You'll get better at being a good person. It just takes time."
I was going to say something else, when another voice that wasn't Kai's interrupted my thoughts.
"What do you mean you kissed another guy?! And behind my back, no less!"
"It was just a one-time thing! It didn't mean anything to me!"
I turned around, now being interested in the argument that was happening behind us. What I now saw surprised me. Through a small crowd of students, I saw that the arguing couple was me and Kai!
"What the hell?" I asked myself.
"Ben? Were you going to say something?" she said from behind me.
I put my hand up as I began to walk across the hall.
"Well, it sure as hell meant something to me!" the argument continued.
"Hold on, Kai. I want to check something out."
"I'm sorry about what I did! I shouldn't have..."
"I don't care if you're sorry! You're a slut, a cheating whore! We're through!"
I finally got close enough to the arguing couple and put my hand on the guy's shoulder. He turned to look at me with an angry look on his face.
"Yeah? What the hell do you want?" he asked.
When he turned to face me, I saw the same brown hair, but the green eyes I thought I'd seen were absent. He had a completely different face, as well. And as for the girl, she had the same color hair as Kai, but different colored eyes, different skin tone, as well as a different face.
"Well?" he asked again as I retracted my hand from his shoulder. "What do you want?"
"Um, sorry." I said as I backed away. "I thought you were someone else."
"You're damn right you thought I was someone else. Now get the hell out of here and leave us alone."
Gladly, I thought as I turned around and left them to their argument.
As I returned to Kai, who was still waiting for me by my locker, the obvious thought ran through my mind.
Why did I see myself and Kai when I saw them? That was almost like seeing ghosts of the past or something!
"What was that all about?" Kai asked with confusion once I returned to her.
"It was nothing, I just thought I saw something. Don't worry about it."
"Um, alright then. Were you going to say something else?"
I shook my head.
"Uh, no. I don't think so."
"Oh. Okay, then."
As Kai said that, a thought entered my mind.
"Hey, you should totally come sit with me and my group of friends at lunch today."
She looked surprised by what I said.
"Um, thanks, but I'll pass. I'd be way out of place and besides, I know your girlfriend doesn't really like me after the things I did and said to you."
I put my hand on her shoulder again.
"Hey, you're not that girl anymore. And Gwen will warm up to you."
She looked up at me with uncertain eyes.
"I just don't know if it's a good idea."
"It'll be okay, Kai. We'll make you a better person yet!"
Just then, the five minute warning bell for first period rang. I retracted my hand from Kai's shoulder once again.
"And that is my cue to get to class. I suppose I will be seeing you later."
She still looked at me as though she didn't want any part of it.
"Ben, I can't do it. I just can't."
"You know Kai," I persisted. "I don't think it's often that someone is given a second chance after they messed something up. I'm trying to help you get a second chance and if I were you, I'd take it."
She didn't say anything this time.
"Just think about it, okay? See you."
I turned around and walked toward my first class, leaving Kai by herself.
Later That Day
Gwen and I were sitting in our fifth period, studying during our free time when it happened. She had her earbuds in, when she took one of them out and began whispering to me.
"Hey, do you remember that mech suit that looked like a suit of knight's armor that we saw when we busted you out of The Forever Knights' building?"
I sure did, but I really didn't want to hear about them right now.
"You're gonna have to be a little more specific." I whispered without looking at her.
"Well, that mech suit is sort of on the loose in Downtown Bellwood!"
I hissed with annoyance as I rested my palm on my forehead.
Aw, man.
"I was afraid you'd say something like that." I whispered before looking at her. "I have a pre-calculus test next period."
She looked at me with a serious face.
"Ten minutes there, disable the mech suit, ten minutes to get back. You could do that with your mask on backwards!"
I let out a sigh of disappointment.
"Go!" Gwen urged me.
Sometime Later
Downtown Bellwood
I touched down on a small building in Downtown Bellwood and surveyed the situation ahead of me. There was quite a bit of smoke, indicating fires here and there, damaged storefronts and I could hear the sounds of sirens; police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, hell, maybe all three of them. I let out a groan.
"Oh, my head hurts already."
I dialed up the Omnitrix and transformed into XLR8. I dropped down from the building onto the street below and looked ahead of me. At the end of the street, on the left corner, a fallen electrical pole was keeping a civilian pinned to the ground.
I suppose that's where I'll start, I thought. I just hope that I don't get shocked!
I moved at top speed, darted underneath the fallen pole and scooped up the unconscious civilian.
"Yow!" I exclaimed as I cleared the pole. "I was lucky not to get shocked!"
The one you call "XLR8" moves far too quickly to be electrocuted, I heard a voice in my head.
"Thanks." I muttered to myself as I carried the civilian down the next street.
I moved at top speed down the street until I saw an ambulance come into view. I came to stop and laid the man down on the gurney, surprising the paramedic standing next to it. Once he recovered from his scare, he spoke to me.
"Where did you come from?!"
"No time to explain." I said with a shake of my head. "This man may have been electrocuted, I don't know."
"Okay, I'll take it from here. Good job."
"Thanks." I replied as I turned to move on.
"You aliens are alright by me!" he added before I took off again.
"Thanks." I repeated myself.
I sped off once again down the street, coming to stop at one of the ruined storefronts. The inside of the store had been completely trashed and the owner (I assumed he was the owner) was stuck underneath a toppled desk. I moved to try and help him by getting the desk off of his chest.
"Oh great, now you're going to steal my stuff!" the store owner exclaimed.
I'm sorry, what?
"Actually, I was trying to save you from your predicament. I believe the words you're looking for are 'thank you'?"
I effortlessly lifted the desk off of him and tossed it a few feet across the store.
"Are you going to be alright?" I asked.
He nodded as he stood up, bending over with his hands on his knees, chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Yes, thank you. The thieves... they got away!"
"Where?"
"I don't know. They could have taken the streets in any of the four directions here. Who knows where they are by now?"
"I'll find them. And I'll get your stolen goods back to you. I promise."
I exited the store before he could say anything else. I ran at top speed for barely a minute, searching in each direction for any group that looked like thieves. As I ran, I spoke to myself.
"I would so rather be at school right now, taking a test that I'm not at all ready for, than heading for the thing responsible for this clusterfuck."
Eventually, I did find them and moved in, listening in on them speaking before I struck.
"Hurry! Before the cops get here!" one of the thieves exclaimed to his two accomplices.
"What?" I asked as I kicked one of the thieves with one of my feet. "I don't count?"
After recovering from their initial shock, one of the thieves spoke.
"Hey, it's one of those aliens that's always on the news!"
"Aw, you do know me!" I said as I zipped across the street toward another thief. "I feel all warm and fuzzy now!"
I kicked him in the stomach and sent him down to the sidewalk. I heard one of the thieves trying to sneak up on me and I acted. I used my tail to slip up the thief behind me, hearing him fall over soon after. I whipped around, bent down a bit and punched him square in the face to keep him from getting back up.
Surprisingly, none of the thieves got back up after that. I let out a sigh as I moved to collect all of the items that they had stolen from the owner of that store. After returning his items, I got on the move again. I ran through a building that had a gigantic hole in it, easily being at least ten feet tall.
"This mech is smashing holes through entire buildings!" I exclaimed as I followed the trail.
Just then, I heard a really loud crashing sound coming from somewhere near me.
"And as I'm doing the math in my head, I'm not liking what I'm hearing."
I came around a corner to see a car had crashed into a lamppost, with a woman trapped inside. I rushed toward the car, grabbed the driver side door and began to pull. I eventually got the door open and began to pull the women out of the car. I sped off with the woman in my arms, getting away from the car, only for it to explode after I had gotten her out of harm's way. I put her down on the sidewalk as she looked up at me.
"Thank you." she replied.
I nodded.
"No problem." I said as I got ready to speed off again. "Stay safe."
I sprinted down toward the next street, as I heard gunshots.
What are they shooting at?
I rounded the corner onto the adjacent street, to see a couple of police officers shooting at something. It was something big. And I recognized it as that mech suit that we had seen in The Forever Knights' tower. The officers where shooting at it, while it was in a sort of hunched over position ahead of me. The mech was still designed to look like a medieval knight, holding a gigantic silver sword that matched the thematic look of it. I looked back at the officers shooting at the mech suit.
Didn't they know that shooting it won't do anything?
I now realized that I had to step in before it hurt one of the officers, if not both of them. I looked around me and eventually found a brick lying on the ground. I picked it up and threw it, where it hit the mech in its upper back's armor plating.
"Hey, you!" I exclaimed as it slowly began to turn. "The 1990s called! The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers want their..."
The mech turned around to face me, fully coming out of its hunching position, now towering over me. He was easily several heads—no, scratch that—several bodies taller than me in my human form. It had to have been at least one, maybe even two stories tall. Its golden face stared at me, as it brandished the sword in its hand.
"...Megazord back." I finished my joke in a quiet tone, now feeling intimidated by the mech.
Wow, was all I could think.
"I am so scared, I could barely finish my lame joke." I replied as I stared up at it.
It raised its sword, pulled it back and then swung it toward me. It whacked me with the sword and sent me flying down the street. I flew down to the other end of the street and busted through a brick wall, collapsing into a heap on the ground. I rose from the pile of bricks and looked out of the hole in the wall.
Wow, I thought. I should have expected that would happen!
I looked through the hole in the wall, to see that the mech was running in the opposite direction, away from me. It was running down the street, toward a power station that was close to our current location.
If that thing is gonna try to do what I think he'll do, he could knock out power throughout the whole city! I have to stop him!
I sprinted out of the building and caught up to the mech within seconds.
I have to stop him before he reaches the station! But how can I do that?
I began to look around me as I ran, searching for anything I could use to slow him down. Eventually, my sight fell onto a medium-sized container of what may have been gasoline.
Well, I could use that against the mech, but with nothing to ignite the fuel, the best I'll end up doing is drenching it with the fuel.
I kept looking around for something else that I could use. After more searching, my sight fell onto a police officer who was standing out front of a gas station. Or more specifically, I was looking at the handgun that was in his holster. I looked back at the tank of gas and then back at the handgun. I let out a sigh as I sprinted over to the gas station.
What I'm about to do would definitely be considered a crime, I thought.
I reached the cop and pulled the handgun from his holster before he could even notice what was happening.
"I need to borrow this." I muttered to myself before sprinting back to the street.
I made it back to the street and then dropped the handgun there, before I headed to grab the canister of gas. I grabbed the canister of gas and sped back over to where I had left the handgun.
If I'm fast enough, I should be able to use the gun to shoot the canister after I throw it!
"Here goes nothing!" I exclaimed as I threw the canister in the mech's direction.
After I threw it toward the mech, I grabbed the handgun from the ground and pointed it at the canister flying through the air. That's when I realized something.
I've never fired a gun before!
Nevertheless, I began firing and I probably fired more bullets than what was necessary. Eventually, two or more of the bullets hit the tank and then, it exploded all over the mech's back. The mech let out this metallic, mechanical scream that sounded really unnatural, as its entire back was set ablaze. He then fell over onto the street, taking up the entire street and intersection, not moving anymore.
That had to hurt, I thought.
I looked down at the gun that was still in my hand. I sped back over to the same gas station, where the police officer looked around in confusion, trying to figure out what happened to his gun. I put the handgun back into his holster and sped back over to where the mech was lying in the street.
"Well," I replied as I turned around. "That was easy."
Just then, I heard a loud noise from behind me. It turned around to see the mech getting up, putting one of its hands on a building, causing the roof to partially collapse. I let out a sigh as he stood up all the way, fire still blazing somewhat on his back.
"Me and my big mouth!" I exclaimed.
Then something even worse happened. I began to hear the dreadful beeping sound that the Omnitrix would emit when it was about to time out.
No, no, no, no, no, not now!
I was reverted back to my human form and once again, the mech was on the move. And oddly enough, he was headed away from the power station.
"So, what do I do now?" I whispered to myself.
I turned to my right, to see a few police officers pointing their handguns at me.
"Get down on the ground and put your hands over your head!" one of them shouted. "We're taking you in for questioning!"
I pointed toward the mech that was now rampaging away from us.
"Do you not see the giant fucking robot that is trashing the city?!"
"On the ground, now! This is your last warning!"
I just stood there, not doing anything.
You're asking yourself what to do? The answer is run!
I lifted my arm and fired my wrist gauntlet down the street without looking, praying that it attached to something. I pulled myself down the street, away from the officers, just as they began firing at me. I let out a sigh as I tailed the mech as it continued in its rampage.
"I swear, this entire city would fall apart if it wasn't for me." I muttered as I swung down the street.
Have I said that before? Aw, whatever. It doesn't matter.
I gazed at the mech that was in the distance. I noticed as the flames began to die down, I could see that the armor plating on its back was damaged.
If I could slip my hand inside of the mech and mess around with the inner circuitry, I might be able to shut this guy down! But I would have to wait until the Omnitrix has recharged, because trying to mess with the circuitry while human could result in me being electrocuted.
I focused on continuing to tail the mech. I fired my gauntlet at the mech and the hook attached itself to the back armor plating. I pulled myself forward and a few seconds later, I touched down onto its back.
"Hey, Tri-Sentinel!" I exclaimed as I began to beat on the armor plates. "Slow it down a bit, will ya?!"
Instead of coming to a stop, the mech reacted with aggression. He turned a bit to the left and suddenly reversed toward the building behind him in a quick manner. I anticipated what it would do, so I jumped from its back before it made its move. After I jumped from its back, it slammed itself backwards into the building, defacing the side of the structure.
Okay, that didn't go according to plan, I thought.
The mech turned around, looked down and immediately spotted me. And it lifted its foot, do doubt ready to stomp on me.
Uh-oh, I thought.
I moved out of the way, just as its foot impacted the street where I had just been standing. I made a mad dash for a car, which I intended to use for cover while the mech searched for me. It didn't seem to know where I was now, because it was searching in the opposite direction of which I had fled.
"Come on, Omnitrix," I whispered. "Any time now would be great!"
And just like that, the Omnitrix turned green with that little chirp that I heard. And wouldn't you know it, the mech heard that chirp. It whipped around and I had to dive from my cover. As I did move covers, I watched as the mech shot two bright green lasers, one from each of its eyes, at where I had just been, causing the car to explode.
"Oh, are you fucking serious?! He could do that?!"
I got to another piece of cover and looked up to see that the mech was inspecting the wreckage of the car.
Is this thing stupid? Does it not realize that I ran to hide somewhere else?
I looked back down at the Omnitrix as the mech continued to pace around.
"Well, at least you didn't take forever." I whispered.
You're welcome, the Omnitrix spoke in my head.
Hearing it reply to me with such spunk threw me off guard.
So, do you actually need to recharge or do you just do this just to fuck with me?
I was about to get over it and just activate it, when something else unnerving happened.
"Where are you hiding, little man?" the mech spoke in a unnatural metallic and automated voice. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!"
I tried to disregard what I had just heard and dialed up the Omnitrix. I turned the ring until I came to Fourarms and pressed down on it. As soon as I transformed, the mech let out a metallic yell as it grabbed a car and tossed it down the street. The car eventually got lodged into a building and the driver side door opened, causing the driver to fall from the vehicle, grabbing the door before he could fall all of the way. I let out a sigh.
"Well, bend me sideways and call me Gwen's neck, that's not good!"
Oh, that was insensitive of me, I thought as I began running down the street. The death of Gwen Stacy is no laughing matter.
After running far enough down the street, I jumped to reach the car that was lodged into the side of a building. I grabbed the guy from the car and pulled him out before he could lose his grip. Once we were back on the ground, I let him down and sent him on his way.
"Go on, run!" I exclaimed.
I turned back around to look at the mech once again. It was looking at me and stomping toward me.
Why doesn't it use those laser eyes again? Did the explosion and flames damage something within it? With it facing me, trying to rip up its inner circuits is no longer an option. There's no way that I could get it to turn around!
I looked away from the mech for a second, toward an alley that led to the docks. That's when an idea came to me.
What about the river? Water can't be good for a mech suit!
I looked back at the mech, which was still approaching. I once again noticed the giant sword that it was carrying.
Okay, I think I have a plan, I thought as I lifted a car up, making sure that no one was in it first.
"Hey, you!" I exclaimed as I threw the car at it.
The car hit the mech in the head, but it didn't explode on impact. Not that I needed it to, the mech seemed to be more willing to smash me now. It was advancing towards me in a much quicker pace now.
Okay, now I just need to make sure that it follows me!
I ran down the side alley toward the dock and about halfway down, I turned my head to look over my shoulder, to see that the mech was in fact quickly pursuing me. I kept running until I reached the edge of the water and then I turned to look at the mech that was quickly approaching.
Okay, now that sword is gonna come in handy! Erm, I hope!
I ran up to him and got ready to leap into the air. I jumped toward the mech, grabbed his sword and began to pull on it.
"Come on, gimme the damn thing!" I exclaimed. "Leggo!"
The mech tried like hell to keep a hold on the sword, but eventually I was able to wrench it from its grasp, falling back down to the ground. Once I was back on the ground, I stood back up and flipped the sword over. I looked up at the mech that approached as I got ready to make my move.
"Here goes nothing!" I repeated myself.
I leapt into the air, with the pointed end of the sword directed toward the mech, toward its torso. Once the pointed edge made contact with the armor plating, I was surprised to see that the plating began to dent and tear. And so, I pushed the sword deeper into the mech, until it was buried up to the hilt within the plating. Sparks of electricity began emerging from the tears, so I knew that I had damaged the inner circuitry. As I dropped back down to the ground, the mech came to a sudden stop.
Was this finally over?
After the mech stopped moving, his eyes stopped glowing green. And then, he began to slowly fall forwards. As he neared the ground and the water of the river, I saw that a portion of the other end of the blade was protruding from the back armor plating. The mech landed in the water, with only a little bit of its legs remaining on land.
Well, that was easy, I thought.
And then, the mech exploded. No, seriously. I'm guessing it wasn't supposed to be exposed to water or maybe it was the damage I caused, but I think that's doubtful. After the explosion, only a small bit of the mech's legs remained. And I couldn't notice any trace of the sword that led to its downfall.
Wow! I don't think I've ever been so glad to take no damage when in alien form! Well, mostly no damage.
I shivered as a thought came to mind.
I hope that no one was piloting that thing and it was just being directed by an artificial intelligence!
I let out a sigh of relief, before turning and leaping up to the nearest rooftop. And it was convenient that I did that, because once I got up there, the Omnitrix began to timeout. I transformed back into my human form and sat down against a low wall. I leaned my head back a bit to rest, but then I got the feeling that I was being watched. I snapped my head upward and looked across the street.
Well, across the street, standing on top of an apartment building was that alien werewolf (his name is Kessinger, isn't it?)
Whatever, let's just run with Kessinger, because it sounds right.
He gave me a nod of approval, before disappearing. I let out a sigh as I leaned my head back again.
I don't know what freaks me out more, the fact that he's actively stalking me or the fact that he's judging my actions. Either way, this is over, so now I can just relax a bit. Yeah, relax.
That's when my eyes widened. I sat up with astonishing speed as I realized what I had forgotten about.
"Shit!" I exclaimed. "My test!"
Author's Note:
* And this it for this chapter, I hope you all enjoyed.
* Sorry for not uploading in a while. A combination of work and tending to future chapters has been keeping my busy. I hope to continue posting at a more consistent rate, but we'll see what happens.
* I think that'll do it for me. I'm going to go though, so have a Bwen-tastic day and bye.

Mario bros fan4ever (Chapter 136): ultimate sixsix finally a underrated charather gets development nice job though
Wait, was Ultimate Sixsix an actual character from canon? I Googled it and I didn't find anything, but I'm still curious. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough. I kind of combined both of your reviews into one, because both of them that are up on Fanfiction are reviews for the same chapter. Thanks for the review, as always.
ChaseTheSoul (Chapter 30): shit story. ben is such a simp.
Thanks. If you think my story is shit, and I've asked my readers this before, why even post a review saying so? If you hate my story, that's fine. If that's the case, then just leave. There's no reason to post a hateful review about it. Thanks for the review, as always.
Whovian200 (Chapter 35): Quick question did Ben and Gwen actually do it or did they just slept in the same bed together naked, that's my only question. Otherwise it's a good story so far, just reminds me a lot of like spiderman.
Thanks, Whovian. Um, as for your question, the answer is actually neither. They did sleep in the same bed together, but they weren't naked, they were clothed. And as for the Spider-Man thing, yeah, I think that was intentional on my part. Thanks for the review, as always.
Next Chapter: Ben gets a surprise visit, along with hard to believe news. Meanwhile, a team of Ben's villains prepare an all-out attack.
