"I heard about the custody case. How's Kyle doing?" Casey asks, not having seen his brother the day before as he had to cover a shift in the afternoon.

"Not great but he's trying to to distract himself." Brax says as he moves the books to the side before leaning against the bar. "I haven't had chance to see Phoebe yet to get her to drop it."

"You think she will?"

"There's no reason for her to want full custody of Lillie after refusing to be a part of her life when she was born." Brax says. "I was going to look around for her today but I needed to sort some stuff out here first."

"Where's Kyle now?" Casey asks.

"He went over to Heath's for the day so the kids could play some more. Darcy's enjoying having the kids around, Ricky took Emilia over as well." Brax says.

"I never thought we'd be a family on the right path. I'm actually enjoying it knowing we don't have to look over our shoulder anymore. There was a time I wasn't sure if Denny was even going to stay with me, or that we'd get married. And then all of that stuff with Lillie, I thought it would change things but I guess it's good that it didn't. I think Kyle secretly fancies the new doctor as I've saw him talking to her earlier." Casey says, not even noticing he was rambling on.

"Case, where are you going with this?" Brax asks.

"Oh, nowhere." Casey says.

"What's this about the new doctor?"

"I don't know, I haven't seen her before. They seemed pretty friendly though."

"Right." Brax says, noticing the one person he needed to talk to stood in the doorway. "Go home and keep Kyle distracted. I've got someone to sort out." He says, Casey glancing back to see who he was staring at.

"Are you going to kill her?" Casey quietly asks.

"No." Brax glares. "I'm going to make this go away for Kyle. Just make sure you don't tell him about this." He says as Phoebe walks up to the bar.

"Heard you've been looking for me." Phoebe says, glancing at Casey.

"I've never liked you, now I know why. You're a selfish bitch who didn't deserve our brother and certainly don't deserve his kid." Casey glares before walking off.

"We need to talk." Brax says. "Get in the office." He says, raising an eyebrow as she stands firm. "Now."

"Still like to think you're the boss I see." Phoebe laughs, walking into the office, Brax shutting the door behind them. "What's this about?" She asks she turns to him, folding her arms across her chest.

"I want you to drop the custody battle for Lillie." Brax says, leaning back against the door.

"Never going to happen."

"Why're you doing this?" Brax asks. "You didn't want a part of Lillie's life, now you suddenly do. It doesn't make sense."

"She's my daughter, I am going to have her in my life."

"Why now after 11 months?"

"I'm allowed to change my mind."

"I've never been able to make sense of you, what Kyle saw in you. But what I do know is that he's been a great father to that kid and nothing you say is going to change that. There was no word from you after you dumped her on us, he hoped you would have come and helped him, despite you having cheated on him with Ash, but you never did." Brax says, noticing something change with her attitude. "Then Lillie was taken from Marilyn while she was babysitting and you never came to give your support. A phone call here and there doesn't prove anything. A real parent would have been out looking, just like Kyle was every single day."

"I had a lot going on." Phoebe says.

"And you think Kyle didn't?" Brax scoffs at her attempt of an excuse. "He blamed himself, it sent him to a really dark place. What sort of person does it make you using someone's mental health against them?"

"He can't look after a baby when he can't look after himself." She argues.

"He can look after her. He went through a rough patch while she was missing and he's doing great now. You weren't here, you didn't see the things he went through, the things he sacrificed just so he could be out there searching for her. Things only got worse after the police called off the search. Now I want to know what part of that you think was him putting himself before looking for Lillie?" Brax asks.

"I-" Phoebe stops herself. "I said some things I shouldn't have. I was angry, upset that Ash broke up with me because of him."

"Nah, Ash broke up with you because you wanted to be with Kyle again and never told him you were still with Ash. You're the one that keeps ruining this for yourself. It doesn't matter how many other people you blame, it will always come back to you." Brax says. "So what's the real reason you're going for full custody?" He asks.

"There isn't one." Phoebe says.

"What do you mean there isn't one?"

"It was my dad who got the papers drawn up. He doesn't think Kyle should keep Lillie and said I should have her. I was angry at the time and agreed to it, but I don't really want to be a mother to her. Once I got full custody, I was going to give her to him." Phoebe says.

"I don't believe this." Brax scoffs. "You'd seriously have gone ahead with it just because he wanted you to?"

"He was going to give me my inheritance now. It was going to help me get my music career up and running, be able to tour the world." Phoebe says.

"You were using an innocent baby just to get inheritance?" Brax frowns. "Do you know how bad this would affect Kyle? He would relapse and we'll lose him for good this time!" He shouts, startling her.

"I'm sorry!"

"Stop this custody battle before it goes too far or you'll deal with me. And I won't play nice anymore." He warns.

"Okay." She quickly nods. "I can do it now." She says, pulling her phone out.

"I want it on speaker." Brax says, getting another nod as she dials the number of her lawyer.

Brax listens in as she tells the lawyer she doesn't want to go ahead with the custody battle. He wasn't surprised as it gets questioned by him, which she managed to convince him into dropping the case. She even made sure the case wouldn't be reopened by her father when he found out.

"It's done." Phoebe says as she puts her phone back in her pocket. "I really am sorry about putting this extra stress on Kyle. I've heard from a fair few people that Kyle's a great dad, and he's done a lot for her. Heard you've all stepped up for him a lot, gone on the right path, that's what he needs. I hope I haven't made anything worse." She mutters, glancing down at her hands.

"You made things worse the second he got those custody papers, and then you bringing up his self harm in front of people." Brax says. "I guess in a way you're lucky. We changed for Kyle, for him to be able to keep Lillie when she arrived. If you tried playing this game back then, things would be very different for you right now. So leave the Bay and never set foot here again."

"I won't, I know I'm not welcome around here after what I did. Apologise to Kyle for me, tell him he won't have to worry about losing Lillie again. I know how much she means to him." Phoebe says as she stands up. "I'm going back to Melbourne this afternoon."

"I don't care where you go, just get out of the Bay." Brax says as she walks out, and he hoped it was for the last time.
