Sorry for the long awaited update, explanation in my everything fic! Long story short, I will be able to update regularly now. Enjoy! :D
SetoRJK-Kaiba Thank you for reviewing, I'm glad you're enjoying both fics. Everything is a little easier to update at the moment because I know exactly where the story is going but with meeting the snake I'm constantly changing my mind about what I want to happen and what you all would want to read. Hope you're safe and well.
All of a sudden Kaze rushed the man in front of us, sending him flying into a wall that began to crumble around him.
"What the hell are you doing, Kaze?" The man roared, outraged at his fellow clansman.
He didn't look hurt at all, not even a little. I looked at the rubble beneath his feet in disbelief as he stood and drew the sword that was on his hip. This was bad. If we ran he could cut us down from behind but fighting him wasn't an option either in my heavily pregnant state.
"Didn't you hear the old man's orders, Toshi? She's supposed to be kept alive." Kaze replied calmly. It was his calmness that frightened me because I knew it was just a front, his confident smile had completely vanished.
Toshi simply grunted in response, his focus was no longer on me but on Kaze. The killer intent in the air was almost suffocating. They were clearly about to fight and whilst it look as though Kaze was on our side I couldn't guarantee he would really protect us against his own family. My first priority was to get Yoichi to safety. Clutching his hand I slowly took a step backwards.
Toshi's head suddenly jerked in our direction. "You run and I'll cut you down."
Yoichi immediately launched his kunai at the enemy with expert precision and impressive speed but simple projectiles proved useless, Toshi's blade connected with them before they even came close to piercing his flesh. The ember of hope that had still been burning a few moments ago was slowly fading away. All I could do now was rely on Kaze to win and not betray my trust.
At first it just looked like they were sparring, light hits that would most likely not be fatal if they connected but it wasn't long before things turned deadly serious. Toshi put some space between them before hunching over. It was very faint but there was definitely a red mist forming around him. He started to pant and groan, the mist spreading further around him. Then all of a sudden he was quiet, all I could hear was my own heart thumping in my chest.
"Blue eyes." My eyes darted over to Kaze, taking in his concerned expression. "Get out of here. This isn't going to be pretty."
Practically dragging Yoichi along with me, I started to run. From what Kaze had told me and Sasuke weeks ago, when his clan use the red mist they don't think, they just kill.
No doubt Kaze would have to use his too just to survive the fight. I dragged Yoichi away with me back the way we had come in the hopes that Sasuke would be waiting for us having already finished his own fight. I scanned the area and had Yoichi do they same as we ran and then finally we spotted him. He was surrounded by his purple Susanoo, battling three huge looking guys. I bit down on my lip to prevent his name coming from my mouth, I felt so helpless and afraid.
My ears heard the whistle of something coming at us through the air. Pulling Yoichi to the ground, we managed to avoid the large axe that had been thrown at us just in time. I blinked away the tears in my eyes, in front of us stood the leader of the Ronin Clan, just as intimidating as I remembered. Glancing to my left confirmed what Sasuke was about to do. Me and Yoichi ran for cover, as soon as we were far enough away from the enemy Sasuke's Susanoo shot an enormous arrow. The impact was huge, I clutched Yoichi against his unborn siblings and hoped that my husband's attack had landed.
"Is that it?" We heard the man roar, like that attack was nothing for him to avoid.
Just to the side of the huge crater caused by Sasuke's attack stood the leader, completely unscathed. His smile was wide and confident and I wasn't surprised, two more men joined him looking equally as menacing. This was bad. I could still hear fighting from all over the village. The Ronin Clan wasn't that big, they must have hired another Clan or even bandits to help them attack the village, if that was the case there was no way of telling how many more there were.
I peeked over the rubble of a house we had hidden behind and saw Sasuke. The men were trying to pierce his mighty defence with their jutsu and he had stopped attacking back for a moment to look for me. Our eyes met and I could almost hear his voice telling me he'd be with me soon. I mouthed to him the words 'I love you' but with so much chaos ensuing around us I'm not sure if he saw what I was trying to tell him. The leader was coming for us, throwing piles of wood and stone aside like they weighed nothing, the look in his eyes portrayed the calm and calculating nature he often kept to himself. Most of his fellow Clan members knew him as aggressive and a strong leader but they failed to notice how much thought he gave every action he made. His focus now was making Sasuke suffer.
"Yoichi, do you remember the way to Sakura's house?"
Our little Uchiha reluctantly nodded his head. He knew what I was really asking him and he didn't want to leave me.
"I need you to run back there-"
"No! I'm going to protect you!" He protested, his eyes filling with tears he was determined not to cry.
"I know." I smiled. "But I need you to get Sakura, I've hurt my leg and I need her to heal it."
By the time he managed to bring Sakura back it would all be over. My plan was perfect, all I needed was for him to do as I asked. Sasuke only had one guy left to take down, within seconds he'd be at my side. It would be easier for him if didn't need to defend us both. Unfortunately for me, Yoichi chose that moment to demonstrate some of the stubbornness he'd inherited from his father. He unleashed his Katon jutsu at the enemy, the fireball was much larger than the ones I had seen him do before, he put everything he had into it but his target was far too experienced to let it hit. I saw him coming for Yoichi. Somehow I was on my feet in time and managed to connect my chidori with his outstretched arm, forcing him to drop his blade.
From the corner of my eye I could see Sasuke moving towards us, I nearly breathed a sigh of relief. He would protect us. Yoichi on the other hand didn't even notice and launched himself at the leader with a kunai in his small hand.
"Yoichi, no!" I screamed but it was too late. That man had hold of him.
"Let him go. It's me you want." Sasuke spoke calmly, standing in front of me.
My instincts were telling me to run to our son but Sasuke wouldn't let me move. One of the other men appeared in a flash next to his leader, the other fighting a Konoha jounin.
"I'll do you a trade. You can have your son back in exchange for her." The leader replied, pointing at me.
Sasuke's arm flinched, he desperately wanted to end this guy. All he needed was a second. If he wasn't holding Yoichi, he could end him with Amaterasu. Just then Kaze appeared by his father, smiling just as smugly. I knew Sasuke wanted to kill Kaze too but for some reason I still believed in him.
"Where's Toshi?" Kaze's father asked.
"He fell." Kaze shrugged, giving me a wink that I know Sasuke saw too. He might have found it amusing but I was becoming more scared by the second, the deathly glare Kaze's father was giving Sasuke only deepened after hearing that one of their best had fallen.
I kept my eyes on Kaze, he was our way out of this, I just knew it. He looked to his comrade and then back to me, indicating that my attention was required on the one that had body flickered earlier. Then it struck me, that was how they were going to take Yoichi and we wouldn't be able to stop him.
"Okay." I spoke up, thankful that my voice hadn't failed me.
Sasuke didn't bother to even look back at me, completely ignoring my agreement. There was no way he was handing me or Yoichi over in his mind but I knew we were running out of options. More Konoha jonin were arriving, it was only a matter of time before the Ronin Clan fled. I had to make sure they weren't going to take Yoichi with them.
"Come on then." Kaze grinned, holding out his hand to me. "This is what we've been planning after all."
I took a step forward, avoiding looking at Sasuke or Yoichi. It wasn't likely that Sasuke would believe I had been planning to betray him this whole time but Yoichi was too young to understand what was really happening, I hoped he knew that I would never abandon him again.
"Don't do it. I'll protect you." Sasuke whispered to me. He almost sounded like he was pleading with me not to go, it nearly broke my heart.
"Of all the girls you could have chosen, it had to be the Uchiha's wife?" The leader sighed to his son. At least he was buying into our act.
"The heart wants what it wants. Besides now you can have your death match wherever you want. He can't refuse incase the kids are his." Kaze's plan was unraveling in front of our eyes, he had somehow assured my safety and our unborn children by insinuating that he might be the father.
"Two days from now I'll send you a message. Come to the meeting point, if you kill me and my son you can have her back."
Sasuke nodded, agreeing to the conditions. In two days he would kill every last one of them if he had to. Yoichi was dropped to the ground and I took my place by Kaze. One by one the teleporting member of the clan took us away.
A/N Thoughts on this chapter? EMI and the babies will be perfectly fine so don't worry! Thoughts on a bit of romance with Kaze? I'm thinking maybe just a dream that he has.
