The Legendary Fishermen Part 1
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"My friends are in danger; I have to find them before Marik's Rare Hunters do." Yami thought as he ran down an alleyway trying to find the others before Marik could harm them, not far behind were Kaiba, Mokuba and White Veemon, the latter of the two struggling to keep up due to their shorter statures.
Yami skid to a stop when he saw two Rare Hunters blocking the way, both smirking at him. "Going somewhere? If you want to save your friends, you'll have to get past us first." The shorter and chubbier Rare Hunter said with a smirk, showing his duel disk to Yami.
"And that's no easy task." The second Rare Hunter said, this one thin and tall with spiky greenish blue hair.
"Listen to me carefully, I will get past!" Yami shouted, not in the mood to deal with more Rare Hunters.
"Sorry, but we're under strict orders from Master Marik to keep you from interfering in his plans." The short Rare Hunter said.
"To get through us both you'll have to defeat us both in a duel." The taller Rare Hunter said, a smirk on his face as Kaiba caught up to Yami.
"Not if we both take you on." Kaiba told them, his duel disk already activated and ready to go.
"We accept your challenge, and when we defeat you both we'll claim both your Egyptian God Cards for Master Marik." The short Rare Hunter said.
"He'll reward us greatly for crushing you two." The tall Rare Hunter said.
"We'll see about that." Kaiba replied, both he and Yami shared a look before Kaiba looked at both their opponents. "It's true that the winning pair will take the loser's rarest cards, but if you think you'll be taking our Egyptian God Cards you've got another thing coming. And once we rescue your friends, I'm dueling you." He then added, glancing at Yami.
"Enough talk. Let's get this over with!" the tall Rare Hunter demanded, he and his partner activated their duel disks and all four duelists life-points climbed to 4000. "We'll let you start Kaiba."
"Beating you two chumps won't be a challenge at all, trust me." He said with a smug smirk, drawing a card he showed it to the two Rare Hunters. "I play Pot of Greed; this card allows me to draw two cards from my deck. And next I'll summon the Lord of Dragons." He drew two cards from his deck, before summoning the monster which appeared before him, the monster looking like a man wearing a billowing cape and dragon themed armour with an Attack of 1200 and a Defence of 1100.
"And next I'll play not one, but two Flute of Summoning Dragons!" he continued, the two dragon shaped flutes appearing in the Lord of Dragons' hands.
"But what's the point of all this anyway?" the tall Rare Hunter questioned.
"Any amateur duelist knows that one flute can special summon two dragons, but since I have two, I can summon four of them." Kaiba said.
"Four in one turn?" the short Rare Hunter questioned.
"That's right, now feel the awesome might of three Blue Eyes White Dragons and the mighty Hyozanryu." Kaiba said, the three powerful Blue Eyes White Dragons appearing behind him, along with the fourth dragon, one shining brightly in the sunlight glittering like diamonds with an Attack of 2100 and a Defence of 2800.
The four dragons roared and snarled at the two Rare Hunters who backed up slightly. "I hope you realise this is just the beginning of what my deck has in store for you, if I were you, I'd forfeit right now." Kaiba advised them.
"No, I play one monster in defence mode." The short Rare Hunter said, the monster card appearing in front of him as he ended his turn.
"Very well." Yami said with a frown. "I set two cards face down."
"That better not be the best you can do." Kaiba said with a frown, Yami looked at him puzzled. "If we're going to rescue your friends you had better not slack off and let me do all the work."
"Let's end this. I play Kuriboh in defence mode." Yami said, the furball appearing in front of him with a coo.
"I hope you've got a plan." The short Rare Hunter said nervously to his partner. His partner looked at him and nodded before drawing a card.
"I drew Mirror Force, the perfect card needed for our victory." He thought. "I set one card face down and summon a monster in defence mode." He said both cards appearing in front of him.
"If you think laying a trap will stop us, you're wasting your time and mine. It's time to end this duel, I hope you're ready for agonising defeat. I sacrifice my three Blue Eyes to summon a monster that knows no equal." He said, his three dragons roaring as they all glowed and turned into bright orbs of energy that combined into a single pillar of light that shot into the sky, before it formed into Obelisk the Tormentor the Egyptian God standing behind Kaiba.
"Oh no!" the short Rare Hunter wailed.
"You're no match for my Egyptian God Card, Obelisk the Tormentor." Kaiba told both Rare Hunters laughing madly. "Now I activate his special ability, I sacrifice my other two remaining monsters to give him even more power." Obelisk grabbed his other two monsters, crushing them in his hands and their energies flowed into the blue gem on his forehead. "Now destroy all of their monsters!" Kaiba commanded, Obelisk obeyed, thrusting his hand forward, an invisible shockwave smashing the Rare Hunters monsters to pieces.
"He just wiped out our defence!" the tall Rare Hunter shouted; eyes wide in disbelief.
"And now my Egyptian God Card, finish them off!" Kaiba commanded. Obelisk growled and pulled his fist back and went to punch both Rare Hunters into oblivion.
"I'm really sorry to disappoint you, but Mirror Force will reflect Obelisk's attack right back at you." The tall Rare Hunter said, activating his trap card only for Obelisk's fist to smash through the trap and both Rare Hunters cried out as both were hit and sent flying back, their life-points falling to 0.
"Victory is ours, that fool should have realised that trap cards hold no power against an Egyptian God Card." Kaiba said, Yami rushed over to the short Rare Hunter and grabbed him by his cloak.
"Where are my friends, answer me!" he demanded, the Rare Hunter didn't reply and was out cold.
"Don't run off without your Locator Card." Kaiba told Yami, fishing both cards from the tall Rare Hunter and tossing one to Yami who caught it. Kaiba then turned to Mokuba. "Mokuba, contact HQ and tell them to locate Daisuke's duel disk, we'll find her and the others soon enough if we do that."
"Thank you, Kaiba." Yami said.
"Don't get the wrong idea, I'm only doing this because that creep Marik threatened a duelist I hold in high regard, anyone who can defeat me twice in a duel is a rare feat. If anyone is going to eliminate her from the tournament, it'll be me." Kaiba replied.
"And here I thought he was doing this because he liked her." White Veemon whispered as he walked alongside Mokuba both following Yami and Kaiba.
"He does like her, big brother's just too stubborn to admit it to anyone." Mokuba whispered back, a small grin on his face which the Digimon returned.
Both Rare Hunters groaned before getting to their feet. "It worked, everyone Master Marik wants will soon all be in one place." The short Rare Hunter said.
Meanwhile at the aquarium somewhere in Domino City, Mako Tsunami cheered triumphantly as he stood on the edge of a large pool of water holding a net full of fish. "I am the greatest fisherman in all the seven se-!" he was cut off when he slipped and fell into the water. Looking in front of him, his eyes widened on seeing an Orca looking at him before it opened its mouth and went to swallow him whole, he caught the Orcas jaws as it surfaced holding him high above trying to eat him.
"What're you doing!?" an angry voice shouted, he turned seeing a woman wearing a pink jacket and yellow baseball hat standing at the edge of the pool.
"I was only trying to catch my lunch when this great beast attacked me!" Mako explained.
"This is an aquarium and you're stealing his lunch. I'm feeling sick enough as it is, get out of here before you become lunch yourself!" the woman ordered.
"A thousand apologies, I was only trying to catch my daily meal!" Mako replied, the woman was about to shout some more when she felt lightheaded and stumbled forwards, as she fell Mako jumped off the Orca and landed before catching the woman in his arms. "You are burning up." He whispered in concern, feeling her forehead as the woman weakly moaned.
"But what about the show, I have to be in it." She said getting to her feet, only to fall backwards before Mako got behind her and caught her. "I'm the only one the animals will listen to."
Mako blinked before he got an idea and chuckled. "Worry not, I happen to know a perfect replacement." He reassured the woman.
Meanwhile Marik was approaching Battle City on his motorbike. "Soon I will be in the heart of Battle City, then it won't be long before the limitless power of the Pharaoh himself belongs to me." He thought, his Millennium Rod glowing faintly and in Battle City, Bakura's Millennium Ring glowed and he frowned.
"I sense a familiar dark energy approaching, the same one that controlled Bandit Keith. And my ring detects another Millennium Item approaching, I'll be sure to add it to my collection." He thought with a smirk.
"Hey Bakura!" he heard Tea call out to him, he frowned before the Millennium Ring vanished from sight and he turned to face them.
"What's up, here to check out some duels?" Tristan asked.
"Oh, hey guys, so tell me how's the tournament progression so far?" Bakura asked with a smile.
"Great, I have four Locator Cards and I only need two more before I make the finals." Daisuke answered, showing her four Locator Cards to him.
"Quite impressive, and where's Yugi?" Bakura asked.
"We've been looking everywhere for him, I'll bet he's somewhere kicking serious butt." Tea answered with a smile.
"I just know we'll both make the finals, then it'll be the rematch of the century when he and I duel again." Daisuke said with a smile.
"Aren't you getting ahead of yourself champ?" Tristan asked with a smile.
"Perhaps, I still need to duel a few more people to get the last Locator Cards I need." She answered, her eyes then noticed something leaning against the wall and she walked over to it. "What the heck is Mako doing riding a whale instead of dueling?" she asked the others who all looked at the drawing on the poster showing Mako and the whale together.
"He should be dueling, not playing with fish." Tristan said.
"I think I found my next opponent." Daisuke chirped, she turned and ran off the others all crying out and running after her except for Bakura who suddenly smirked, his Millennium Ring appearing again.
"Play your little games while I become the most powerful being in the world!" he thought.
A short while later, Daisuke and Tea ran up some stairs into the aquarium. "Okay, where's Mako?" Daisuke questioned.
"He's riding the Orca." Tea answered, pointing to Mako who was indeed riding the Orca as it swam around the pool.
"This is a sight I never thought I'd see." Daisuke said with a small smile, Mako waved to the two girls who waved back as Tristan and Solomon caught up to them.
"Yo Dai, over here!" a voice called out, she turned and saw her brother Joey sitting nearby beside their father who waved at her and she smiled waving back. In the crowd, unknown to the group at the time, several Rare Hunters began sitting amongst the people with blank expressions, their empty eyes solely focused on them.
Mako laughed happily as the Orca swam around the pool doing a few tricks before he jumped off landing on the platform beside the pool. "Even the great beasts of the sea can be tamed." He said, holding up a giant ring and the Orca jumped through it before bouncing a beach ball on its nose into a floating basketball hoop.
"Mako, over here!" Daisuke shouted, rushing to the edge of the pool waving him over.
"Hi my old friends!" Mako called before jumping into the pool and swimming towards them, the Orca following him, both then dived into the water before the Orca rose up with Mako standing on its snout and some water splashed over Daisuke knocking her over and she groaned.
"Blech, it's been a while." Daisuke coughed out, brushing her now wet hair aside as Mako chuckled.
"Yes, since Duelist Kingdom I believe." He replied with a smile. "It's good to see you all again my friends."
"What're you doing in the aquarium Mako, we thought you'd be here dueling?" Tea asked him.
"I am here to duel, and to win but my kinship with the sea was needed first." Mako answered.
"Well hope off Shamoo and let's duel." Daisuke said with a grin.
"Are you sure, perhaps you'd be better off enjoying my show." Mako replied with a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Here's ya show right here, I bet all these people will enjoy a duel instead of an Orca doing acrobatics. I got four Locator Cards, how many do you got?" Daisuke asked, pulling out her cards she showed them to Mako who smiled.
"Impressive, I too have four Locator Cards." he said, showing the cards to her. "Very well we shall duel, this will be a fine show for the audience."
"Awesome they're gonna duel!" one person in the crowd cheered and the rest of the audience began cheering as well.
"Wow cheering fans, I could get used to this." Daisuke said to herself, Tea frowned and grabbed her ear tightly.
"Don't get a big head now Wheeler." She scolded as Daisuke pulled her ear free and a few moments later, she and Mako were standing on the platform in the middle of the pool.
"Go Dai kick his butt!" Joey cheered, his mouth half full of hotdog and popcorn.
"Remember your manners Joey." Hatori said with a stern frown and his son gulped the food down and wiped the mustard from his mouth. "Good boy."
"Put up two of your Locator Cards landlubber, the winner of this duel goes straight to the finals." Mako said.
"You got it, time to duel." Daisuke said, she activated her duel disk and Mako did the same, both their life-points climbing to 4000 each as the Orca jumped out of the water and dived back in.
"Once I unleash my mighty denizens of the deep, you'll be all washed up Daisuke." Mako said.
"You got a big mouth and a short memory; I was dueling in the Duelist Kingdom Finals while you were swimming back home. Now check this out." She said, drawing her first card and looking at it and her hand. "I'll play Berry Magician Girl in Attack mode." She summoned the monster and it appeared in front of her, it was a cute childlike magician with a small wand in her hand and a pacifier in its mouth and it had 400 Attack and Defence points. "When Berry Magician Girl is summoned, I get to add a magician girl monster from my deck to my hand." She explained, quickly rummaging through her deck to pick a card before reshuffling her deck and putting it back into her duel disk.
"Adorable, but if you think that weak little guppy will win you this duel you underestimate the denizens of the deep." Mako said.
"Looks can be deceiving Mako, you'll find out soon enough." She replied with a smile.
"Very well, my turn." Mako said, drawing a card he smirked as he played it. "I summon the mighty Flying Fish!" his summoned monster appeared in a splash of water with 800 Attack points and 500 Defence points. "Attack her Berry Magician Girl." He ordered.
"You've activated Berry Magician Girl's special ability, when she's attacked, she can change her battle position and if she does so, I get to special summon another magician girl from my deck to the field, so come on out Lemon Magician Girl." Daisuke said, in a flash of light another magician girl appeared this one wearing yellow clothing similar to Apple Magician Girl, only her sceptre was yellow with a lemon shaped gem on the top and she had 800 Attack points and 600 Defence points.
"That still won't save your Berry Magician Girl." Mako said, his Flying Fish monster smashing into Berry Magician girl and destroying it.
"Good thing she was in defence mode thanks to her effect." Daisuke thought in relief. Mako ended his turn and she drew her next card. "Okay, I set one monster in defence mode and end my turn." She told Mako, the face down card appearing on the field beside Lemon Magician Girl.
Mako drew a card and grinned. "I set a card face down and end my turn as well." He said.
"Alright, time to kick this duel up a notch." Daisuke replied, drawing her next card she grinned. "I tribute my face down monster to summon Kiwi Magician Girl in attack mode!" she shouted, her magician girl replacing the face down monster in a flash of light as she stood beside Lemon Magician Girl.
"Nice try, but I activate Torrential Tribute!" Mako said, activating his face down card which caused a torrent of water to blast Daisuke's side of the field washing away Lemon Magician Girl and Kiwi Magician Girl and soaking Daisuke to the bone, she groaned and shook herself dry while shivering.
"That's cold ya jerk!" she grumbled. In the stands watching the duel, the numerous Rare Hunters watched on as the glowing eye appeared on their foreheads.
"Keep an eye on them my Rare Hunters, I will have need of them all shortly." Marik ordered them as he began riding through an alleyway on his motorbike before skidding to a stop when Bakura jumped in the way blocking the road. "You're in my way." Marik told him with a growl, grabbing his Millennium Rod as he stood up from his motorbike.
"You have something that belongs to me." Bakura said, showing the Millennium Ring to Marik.
"The Millennium Ring." Marik said.
"It seems you're the dark force I've been sensing. Give me your Millennium Item and you may pass by." Bakura told him.
"You are somewhat familiar with the ancient ways, why do you want my Millennium Item?" Marik questioned.
"If you must know, I am a collector of sorts and once I possess all seven Millennium Items, I'll control ancient powers strong enough to rule the entire world. So, I will ask you once again to hand over your Millennium Rod." Bakura told him.
"Interesting, whoever he is he has knowledge of the ancient scriptures. Fortunately for me, this stranger doesn't know everything. For he who possesses the boundless powers of the Pharaoh holds a power far stronger than the seven Millennium Items." He thought. "My name is Marik."
"I don't care." Bakura growled out, his arms crossed impatiently.
"What if I told you I had knowledge of certain secrets. You can have my Millennium Rod, but before I hand it over to you, you have to do something for me in exchange for I am somewhat of a collector myself and once I possess what I desire, the Millennium Rod will mean absolutely nothing to me." Marik said, turning his back to Bakura.
"Why should I help you, I can simply take your Millennium Item by force as I've done to others in the past." Bakura told him.
Marik chuckled and turned back to face him with a smirk on his face. "Because I know the whereabouts of several Millennium Items including the Millennium Necklace worn by my sister." He informed Bakura who smirked.
"Perhaps there is a way we can work together to get what we both want." He said.
"You've made a wise choice, with our combined power no one in the entire world will be able to stop us." Marik said with a smirk.
Back at the duel in the aquarium the crowd was cheering and enjoying the duel before them. "Flying Fish attack my opponent directly!" Mako commanded, drawing a card as his monster charged and hit Daisuke knocking her over as her life-points fell to 3200.
"Go Dai!" Joey cheered.
"And now I place one card on the field and end my turn." Mako said, the face down card appearing before him. "Feel the power of my sea deck, Mako Tsunami will show no mercy."
"Fine, I won't do so either." Daisuke said, she got to her feet and grinned. "You've gotten stronger Mako, you're a better duelist than the last time I saw you."
"Indeed, I am, for years I've spent years searching for my long lost father on the open seas. And I have used nothing more than a small wooden fishing boat, every time I battle the mighty ocean waters I become stronger and no matter how difficult the struggles I've vowed to never stop searching until I find him. I face my opponents with the same determination and I fight every duel in the honour of my father, I know in my heart we'll be reunited one day and until that day, even though he's not right here he continues to inspire me and give me strength." Mako told her.
"Guess what, I got people who inspire me like that also, my little brother and sister Joey and Serenity. And guess what else, I don't show any mercy either." Daisuke replied with a grin.
"Then on with the duel my friend." Mako told her with a smile as the crowd cheered and clapped.
"Alright, I draw." Daisuke said, drawing her next card. "I summon Alligator Sword in Attack mode." Her monster appeared in front of her and readied itself for battle. "I then set two cards face down and end my turn."
"Perhaps I underestimated her, she is more determined than I thought." Mako thought as he drew his next card. "I sacrifice the weaker Flying Fish to summon the stronger Amphibian Beast!" he shouted, his fish vanishing in a flash of light and being replaced by a larger stronger bipedal humanoid sea creature with 2400 Attack points and 2000 Defence points.
"I'm not afraid of that tadpole." Daisuke replied.
"You will be when Amphibian Beast attacks with sea claw!" Mako shouted, Amphibian Beast growled charging Alligator Sword.
"Hold on, activate Fairy Box." Daisuke replied, one of her two face down cards and a giant whack-a-mole box appeared and Alligator Sword vanished.
"Where did your monster go?" Mako questioned looking at the magic box as Amphibian Beast looked at the box confused, Alligator Sword stuck his head out of the six holes on the top of the box quickly and stuck his tongue out at the monster angering it.
"What's the matter, ya never play Whack-a-Croc?" Daisuke asked with a teasing smirk.
"That's very clever, but even your mighty Alligator Sword can't breathe underwater, so I activate my face down card the field magic card, Umi, to flood this field with ocean water." Mako said, the entire field began to flood the ocean water reaching up to both opponent's knees and combining the water with the surrounding pool.
"My alligator is completely submerged in water!" Daisuke gasped; she saw bubbles rising to the surface out of one of the holes in the Fairy Box.
"It's only a matter before it has to come up for air." Mako said, Alligator Sword surfaced taking a deep breath of air. "Which is now, attack!" he commanded, Amphibian Beast who lunged for Alligator Sword.
"Activate my second face down card, Skull Dice." Daisuke said, quickly activating her second face down card and the tiny devil appeared in front of her and it tossed the red die into the air. "The number I roll determines how much your toad's attack points get reduced by." She told Mako as the die came to a stop and she grinned. "Yes, they're divided by four!"
Amphibian Beast's attack points dropped to 650 as it neared Alligator Sword who swung his sword cutting through Mako's monster destroying it. "I'd say that evens the sword." Daisuke said, Mako grinned as his life-points fell to 3150 and he nodded.
"You're a worthy opponent Daisuke, well done." He praised her.
"You're not so bad yourself Mako, this duel is getting fun." She replied.
"But this duel has just begun, and the sea holds many mysteries and great terrors. The most powerful and dangerous creatures of all lie hidden deep beneath its waters, I will prevail and obtain my place in the Battle City finals for I have a secret weapon guaranteed to destroy her, and it waits in the depths of my ocean deck." Mako thought as the audience watched on anticipating the next move.
