Chapter 61: Quiet Days

EARTH M-199999

NEW YORK CITY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

AVENGER'S COMPOUND

"What the-?" Alexis was looking at the computer tower that contained Scout. More to the fact he was checking the status screen on it.

Dendy the Kappa and Peridot the Crystal Gem both were eager to learn more about the voice that found them.

Dendy asked, "Is something wrong?"

"Sort of, you see Scout ended talking to some girls in another world. They said they- the whole world had gotten a message. We told him to seek out those who could most helpful, but under more reasonable parameters."

"Like us," Peridot held her head up.

"Yes, your Crystal Gems seem to be the major solution for extraordinary problems on your Earth. Scout went to Dendy because she was apart of the group that handled some major incidents recently. Plus, he found Dendy was associated with people like Elodie and thus could find more people that could help."

Dendy asked, "That's logical, then it seems to be working. What is the problem?"

"Not sure, there was an error. It caused him to send the message to everyone in that one world, it was loud, and Scout didn't remember."

"Why would that happen?" Peridot asked, "It seems flawed if you didn't program it to remember talking to a whole world."

"Yeah, checking the records, and it looks like there was a surge of power that caused the error-"Alexis' eyes went wide when he realized that was likely caused when Galeem tried to take over TDS, which were connected to Scout.

He sighed, "Yeah, well, like he shut down improperly. Probably just trying to save himself. It could have been worse. I've had him send messages to those he's been talking to, telling them he will down for a bit. Just let him shut down to rest, I'll work out the errors, and we should be fine."

Martha Jones was happy to be the doctor for this organization. She was surprised at the medical tech the Avengers had here was a fair bit more advanced than UNIT's tech when she worked for them.

According to Tony, they had someone named Helen Cho, who also created new medical technology besides serving as their doctor. She left for maternity leave some time ago, and before she could return, the Avengers broke up, and she took a job closer to home to have a stable life with her new son.

Though luckily for Martha, Helen left detailed notes on all of the new equipment. She was making great use of it since so many new members arrived, and she had decided to run at least basic physicals on everyone. It was more work than she had expected, but she stood by it. The last thing they needed was to find out someone was allergic to something in this world or had no immunity to common diseases. So, far everyone seemed okay.

But there were areas where she was so out of her depth; they had aliens, cyborgs, and humans with odd abilities.

The Doctor swore she would help, and at the moment, she was reading over the test results from Aang, Katara, and Suki. The Doctor was sitting on a swivel chair, spinning around wildly as she read.

Martha wondered how much had the Doctor changed since she last saw them, there was still something wild in them, and she caught glimpses of something dark and ancient in her eyes, but the pain and the anger seem less.

Still, maybe it wouldn't be so bad; they had gotten someone that could help her.

"That's my X-ray?" Rose asked Martha.

"Yes, but it seems like it was a waste of time, honestly," Martha held up the X-ray, and it only showed an outline of Rose and the gem. Holding up the other x-rays from the rest of the gems revealed similar results. "Probably should I figured when you said you were light constructs."

Rose just gave her a gentle smile, "Still, it's interesting to see. Whenever I heal someone, they just fix. Its amazing humans have made a way to see the damage."

"You don't mind helping me out?"

"Of course not, I'm happy to."

"And you can just heal with your tears?"

"Yes, well, to be honest, it can be done with a kiss, but it can make many people uncomfortable at the thought that saliva healing them."

"I could see that," Martha chuckled,

"Aha!" The Doctor jumped off her chair, almost toppling over as she did.

Martha just looked at Rose, "Just nod; when she gets like this, just let her go and try to ask a question every now, so they feel like your listing."

"It's genetic, but their bending abilities come from something else too. I did a DNA test on Scarlett, and she's a normal pyrokinetic. A few stray genes here and a slight change in her brain allow her to ignite and manipulate flames, and her body adapts to it. But these kids are something else! Scarlett's gene is fairly random effects-wise, but these kids their genes are far more stable. It's ingrown, part of the family line, maybe environmental elements. Each clan, tribe, country, in a different part of the world, has caused them to develop differently to a different element."

Martha decided to ask something before the Doctor ran out of breath, "So, what's the environmental factor?"

"It's probably two-fold, something mundane, like weather or diet, I think. I'd have to do more testing in their world to be sure. But the major factor is energy prevalent in their world. From the data, Jenny brought back, energy from another dimension that lets them tune themselves to the point that they can move elements. Aang seems to be favor more intuned to these energies than Katara, probably why he's able to manipulate all the elements."

"Very interesting," Martha nodded, "is it a danger to them? It's not going to strain their bodies to be in this dimension?"

"I don't think so; removing them from the influence of the energies may dampen their abilities, but their bodies don't require them to do it. It just Sort of helps the right genes kick in and power up. Maybe give some of their abilities an extra kick; here, they'd probably end up pulling latent energies from their elements. If someone with the right receive genes was exposed to the right energies, I imagine they might trigger some latent bending abilities. The only major problem would be it straining themselves. Overuse might cause them issues," The Doctor handed Martha some paperwork.

Martha looked it over, "Aang…"

"When I asked him about his limits, he told me about something he called the Avatar state, and once being frozen in an iceberg for years. "

"If we're reading this right, he's probably lost decades off the end of his life."

The Doctor sighed, "It's rare, but my people could have this problem; people with strong psychic ability sometimes burn themselves out. It causes themselves to regenerate earlier than most."

"Did you have a way to fix it?"

The Doctor shook her head. "They would regenerate every few centuries before they got it under control. Most only went through two regenerations before they got it under control. It wasn't a major issue with a species that could live for thousands and then get a new body if we weren't careful."

Martha turned to Rose, "Maybe you can do something."

Rose shook her head, "My abilities might not work. It can repair bodies and restore life to some sense, but… I've tried to heal people left weak after a disease. They never had the same energy as they once did. Once the damage is healed, I can't heal a scar. If his body is his new natural state, I probably wouldn't be able to do anything."

"We can at least try."

Rose did love humans, the more she saw, the more amazing thing she saw in them. Martha was so desperate to try and get this young boy every year she could. "Let's try."

Martha didn't waste another moment as she went off to find Aang, and Rose followed.

"I'll stay here," The Doctor called, "Maybe see if Tony or Thor or Nebula have something for this."

"You made it minty fresh!" Alexis yelled out happily.

His coat hovered in front of him.

Gwen shrugged, "No, we did a cleaning spell; we're not sure where the smell is coming from."

Alexis searched his pocket, pulling out a crushed and wet pack of gum. "Saltwater." He tossed it in a nearby trash can.

Some of the other magic users, including Charmcaster, Itsuwa, and Kanzaki, came to ask him about it.

Itsuwa asked him, "Where did you get fairy magic?"

Kanzaki continued, "From the legends, I've heard of fae creatures are not to be trusted."

"True,"

"And I couldn't replicate it," Gwen added.

"It's a mother's spell, one of protection for her child." Alexis pulled on his coat, "To replicate it; you'd have to replicate that. "

"Wait-"Charmascter interrupted, "You're a- "

"No, she's my godmother."

"A fairy godmother?" Itsuwa looked on curiously,

"Years ago, when I was a small little me, I managed to save a pair of captured fairies from an evil warlock."

"A life debt," Kanzaki pointed out, "the stories I've told fairies must pay all their debts."

"They must, and thankfully a third party stepped into broker a fair deal. They were to serve as my godparents, teach me, and help me a better person." He closed his eyes, and his hands began to glow with energy, "She taught what magic she could; it made my magic become a little wild and flexible. It let me forge my own path, create my own spells. It was a deal at first, but after time we grew close, they became my family."

He waved his hands and figures formed from his magic, of several winged figures around one that looked like him.

"I got godparents and a couple of god-siblings. She's still there… trying to make sense of things… keeping her what's left of the family intact."

He waved his hand and let the images dispel.

The room went quiet.

The room felt warmer, "Thanos cost me a lot, and I intend to get it back. Let's just say I've been working on some stuff."

Kanzaki noticed a bright red glimmer forming on the tip of his finger, the stories told of fairies being vindictive and dangerous if one were to upset one. She couldn't help but wonder if he had picked on that.

"Excuse me?"

Alexis spun on his heels and smiled, "Yes,"

It was Marinette, and sitting on her shoulder was Plagg. "Yeah, that Mister Stark said you might be able to help me with a problem. It's magic-based.

"I think you came to the right place." Alexis clapped his hands together; the malice vanished from him.

"Ah, you see," she took out the peacock miraculous. "me and my friends used these to transform, and we get our powers from them. But this one broke, the man in the that came with us… well, he's been using it."

"The one they rushed into the medical center?" Itsuwa asked.

"Okay, magical talisman works with a person, so any damage to the item would also affect the person, transference. Okay, I follow, that's… that's not good. It would cause metaphysical damage." Alexis rattled off.

"Can you fix it?" Marinette asked again.

Gwen looked at the broach, "I think I know some mending spells, but mending magical items can be tricky if done incorrectly. Some need the exact process or rituals."

Marinette sighed, "I had a tablet that belonged to the Guardian of the miraculous; it had steps with how to repair it. But the tablet got eaten with my bag."

Chmacaster scratched her head, "We can try; we have at least four different styles of magic right here in this room plus those weird wizards that just came in. Maybe we can find something that could fix it."

"Are we forming a coven?" Alexis said gleefully, "Let me get Scarlett; she loves covens."

He raced out of the room.

Charmcaster took a second, "Is it just me, or is he out there?" Charmcaster wriggled her hands in the air to punctuate the statement.

The others nodded in agreement.

Touma Kamijou was walking along the halls when he spotted a pink ball walking alone.

"Poyo?"

Touma recalled someone mentioning Kirby to him.

"Hi."

"Hiiii!"

Touma paused for a moment; he was supposed to be an alien or something. He wondered if it would be safe for him to touch him; his hand dispelled supernatural things, and aliens were just from other worlds. He still got a suspicion.

"Poyo?" Kirby let out, looking at Touma's right hand.

Touma flinched, more to the point his right hand did.

Kirby inched closer, staring intently at his hand; Touma found his hand violently jerking away from Kirby.

"Po?" Kirby blinked, then paused and sniffed the air and walked away.

Touma found himself staring at his hand, confused.

0000

Charmy was delighted by the changes. She got to taste food from a whole different world, and they were stocked up with food from all over it.

The ceiling's weird voice was nice enough to explain what everything was and even give her recipes.

Charmy was all for saving everyone and getting those they lost back, but this was a bonus.

Charmy had cotton creation magic that let her make Sheep Cooks. She managed to make several sheep chefs that were excellent chefs and cooks, so with her magic and the fantastic equipment there, they could make just about any dish.

She was a ravenous little glutton, and as they started to serve up some food, she was more than happy to dig in.

"Poyo?"

Charmy paused as she found a pink puffball looking at the plates of food.

"Oh? You hungry too?" Charmy chirped.

"Po!"

"Well, food is always best when shared. Besides, I think this might be even more than I can eat by myself," Charmy grabbed and sat Kirby on a chair so they could eat. "Oh! Let me get you a fork." Charmy turned back to fetch a utensil but paused as she heard a strange sound.

Charmy turned back to see Kirby's mouth open wide as whirlwind sucked in all the food. In seconds all the food was gone and in the pink creature. Kirby burped and smiled before running off somewhere.

Charmy just stared, people said she ate more than her weight, but Kirby just ate enough for like a dozen people.

"…All my food… all the food!"

The Sheep Cooks were huddled together behind her, terrified of what they had just seen.

"There you are." Captain Yami walked in looking for his squad member, "Should have known you'd find food. Take a break and save some for the rest of us." He clicked his tongue, seeing so many dirty plates on the table. "Looks like you outdid yourself."

"But I didn't even eat anything."

Yami scoffed and pulled the fork from her hand. "Right, come on, let's go."

"But- but- but-"

Yami just picked up Charmy and let the Sheep clean up after her.

Rose sighed; she had never struck out this much.

Her powers didn't seem to help Aang. From the test they had done, his life was still much shorter. He took the news rather well, considering.

Martha then asked her to try and heal the man Gabriel. Her powers didn't help him, his breathing was difficult, and he was still unconscious. They guessed that the magic item he used was damaged, and using it again and again, in turn, damaged him. The damage wasn't internal or physical though it affected him as it was.

They kept him in a private room and had him restrained in case he woke up. The children had explained he was a criminal, so they decided not to let him free. Once he woke up, they would have to determine what they would do.

And her third failure was Ava, which was the most confusing for her. She had never seen a person distort in such a way; it reminded her how gems, when damaged, would have their bodies glitch.

But they still had hope.

"Okay, yeah, this is bad," Chain pointed out.

"Yeah, I noticed." The Doctor rang in. "I thought we stabilized her, but it's not holding."

"Look, I'm not exactly an expert in tech even for this, but that's not the problem." Chain held up her hand; it became transparent easily passed it through a nearby Scott.

Scott flinched, "Yeah, feels just like when Ava does it."

The Doctor clapped her hands, "Delighted that Missy brought back an expert."

"I don't know if I'm an expert, but I've gone through the training. I didn't go through this, but I know some werewolves who did."

"Werewolves?" Scot couldn't help but ask.

"Yeah, not the howl at the moon kind, it was a pun like Where wolf-like where are they. No one even spells it like that, so I don't know- Never mind." Chain sighed, "The point is that the last step to stabilize any of us is to find something that defines our existence; something to tether us to the world, something that is a reason for us to remain. Phasing or turning invisible is basically us erasing ourselves from existence. We need something strong enough to keep us grounded."

The Doctor hummed, "The machines should be- "

"No," Chain interrupted, "it's not something physical. It's something metaphysical, something emotional. that drives us to stay here for them. Does she have family or a loved one that makes her want to stay here for?"

Scott shook her head; he looked at Ava asleep in her chamber connected to the van as she continued to phase in and out. "Her parents died in an explosion when she was young; it's what gave her this power. Then she was turned into a weapon by a shadowy organization. Bill Forster was the only person to stay be her through this, try and help her, Sort of like a father figure. The problem is he got dusted with half of everything."

Rose suggested, "How about you?"

"We haven't known each other long. We met a little before everyone got dusty, and then most of the time was her trying to punch me or steal our tech to save herself. We've been trying to help, but things got weird."

Chain scratched her head, "I don't know; it's up to her to find something to live for."

0000

Venomous and Greyman were a bit uneasy working together, but they were going to try.

Bruce was pulling up all the data on the stone and some of them.

Venomous saw the data and was tempted to find a way to steal them for himself. However, he didn't say it and quickly thought against the idea.

"Yowza!" Greyman let out, "That kind of energy is enough to burn someone to a crisp. Like, one stone could probably do that. How anyone can hold six of them is beyond me."

"The gauntlet is made of Uru," Bruce explained, "from what Thor has said, it's one of the toughest stuff in the universe. But super rare, Tony is working on a way around that with what we got. It's not going to be enough; even with Uru to build something, it's still burning through Thanos. And I've seen first hand how tough he is."

Venomous smiled, "That why you want us to help find someone or some way to use the stones."

"Right up your alley." Greyman snarked,

Using a pencil to click the keys, Bruce pulled up some files. "These are the files on the people most likely able to survive holding the stones for a few seconds."

Bruce was on the list along with Thor, Carol Danvers, Gwen, Stitch, Touma, The Doctor and Missy, Captain Jack, and Wade Wilson.

"Thor is a god, is a good case. Wilson and Harkness are both immortal; in theory, if they don't get burnt to a crisp, they'd come back if they last long enough to do it. Carol can generate similar energy, apparently from previous exposure to the stones. Missy and the Doctor said they could handle radiation and energy, and if they fail to survive, they regenerate. Though they admitted they might not survive long enough to use the stones, it would be a coin flip. And the Doctor refused to let Jenny try. Gwen… she said she's half energy being she might be able to deal with a sudden burst of energy a bit better than most. Stitch was designed to be ultra-tough; according to him, he can easily rest in an active volcano. Touma's hand can negate supernatural abilities; his hand might reduce the energy output if it doesn't stop him from using them. "

"Not an ideal candidate," Venomous remarked, "if he reduces its power or disrupts, it might not be useful. Could make it ineffective." Venomous turned to Bruce, "and what about you?"

Bruce sighed, "The stones emit radiation, mostly gamma, which I can absorb plus a neat little healing factor. It might still kill me, so excuse me if I don't want to throw my hat in without a guarantee that I will leave long enough to use the stones."

Venomous chuckled, "Sure up the odds, let's see what we can do."

0000

Shutaura was still fixing her mech; it was almost fully repaired. She didn't like the idea of that nanobot to fix it quickly, but they had helped, replicating damaged parts and fixing the wiring.

Now they had a chance to make improvements, she hated the idea of changing her Black Crow, but she was pulled into a more significant battle and would likely need it. If she did get back to Academy City, she loathed thinking of how the scientist would take it apart.

"Hey," A red-haired girl with a peg leg called out.

Next to her was a woman in a biker outfit. "The robot monkey said you might need some more help fixing your ride."

Shutaura looked at them, "Do you know anything about high-intensity lasers?"

They both gave her a noncommital nod, "Sure, welcome aboard,"

Red said, "Okay, I made some modifications on my tank; I had to remove stuff for speed. Now your frame seems more lightweight material, how about a personal shield?"

Rojo blinked, "That gotta drain power. Can we add a secondary power source? That way, it doesn't drain directly from main systems."

Shutaura liked what she was hearing; they did have some interesting ideas and seemed to know what they were talking about.

"What do I call you?"

"Red."

"Rojo."

Shutaura blinked, "Wait, so both your names are other names of the same colors, and you both have red hair. Wait… isn't there another redhead with fire powers with a name like that?"

0000

Scarlett was shooting out flames as the esper Sogiita held out his energy shield.

Sogiita grit his teeth; he'd long since extended his Amazing Shield around his whole body as she barraged him with flames.

"You've got guts!" Sogiita yelled, "But your gonna run out of steam before me!"

Scarlett had been keeping it up for several minutes now, the ground beneath them had become scorched, and they had to keep the fire sprinklers from going off.

Sogiita insisted they continue until they saw whose guts would come out on top; Scarlett had been frustrated and was happy to have a chance to work it off.

Many people had gathered to see how this sparring would turn out.

Mugino sighed, "Idiot, he's going to lose."

"Yup," Kinuhata nodded.

Kakine the white hovered beside them, "She's right."

Genos asked, "Why would you believe so? Guhan Sogiita doesn't seem to be tiring."

Kakine explained, "Two factors: Overheating, his shield is blocking the flames, but he's sweating the shield does nothing to keep the air from heating up."

Mugino sighed and started to walk away, "And air, the idiot still needs to breathe air, and the flames are eating it up."

The shield began to weaken, and the attack ended just in time to let the esper drop.

"Will he be all right?" Genos asked.

Kinuhata shrugged, "Yeah, he'll be okay; basically, I hear he's been stab through the heart, and he just walked it off."

Genos decided when the esper regained consciousness; he'd have to ask him how he managed that.

In the meanwhile, Scarlett sighed, flipping Sogiita over and emptying a water bottle over him.

0000

Steve was happy to some time off from training the newcomers; when three people arrived with more experience, he felt it was a windfall.

Frightwig was sparring against Foxtail. Frightwig's tendrils slammed Foxtail, but she took the attacks and bounced them off.

Foxtail just yelled out, "Move faster! Strike me with one tendril and pull it back before you attack with another." Foxtail quickly grabbed to of the tendrils and yanked forwards, causing Frightwig to fall forwards.

"I bet you have trouble when they get tangled up? Try to keep them apart as much as you can, lower the chance of them getting tangled, especially if someone tried to tie them together." She offered her a hand, "Let's try it again."

Frightwig huffed, she hated to admit it, but she did zero in on a problem, getting up, "Yeah, easier said than done. They make me kinda top-heavy; it's a little hard to hold my balance."

"Okay, let's start with that. Try a wider stance and lower your center a bit."

Foxtail had spent her time being a coach at Point Prep Academy; it was easy for her to figure out how to help new heroes. Most people in her world had powers; she adapted to her students' different needs.

The other two teachers were Silver Fang and Carol Kincaid, AKA Silver Spark, who both, besides having hero work, both trained people in their dojos.

"Dear, if you could do it again," Silver Fang called out.

Noelle Silvia sighed, "If you insist, but don't blame me if this hits you."

"That's fine; if I get hit, then I will take it as a sign I need to bolster my efforts."

The older man smiled warmly at her, in a way that reminded Noelle of a kindly butler that worked for her family.

Noelle raised her wand as her grimoire glowed behind her. She launched a spell, and water blasted towards the old man. "The Flowing water Fist!"

Despite his advanced age, he moved quickly and struck the blast of water several times, splitting the shot in several directions and keeping him dry.

Noelle still couldn't believe someone did that to one of her attacks.

Aang ran over to her, "That's amazing!"

She coughed, "Well, naturally, I am royalty."

"You can just make water appear out of nowhere. Or are you pulling it from the air or something?"

Noelle blinked, never had put too much thought to it, "Uh, I supposed it comes from mana."

Silver Bang looked to a group, "The Flowing Water Fist school of martial arts is focused on agility and strength. It takes great effort and work to master that level of balance and skill."

Carol nodded, "I see; mind if I give it a shot?"

"Go ahead if you think you can manage it."

"Let me do this one," Aang offered, and Noelle motioned to him to try.

Aang got into his water bender stance, and to Noelle's surprise, the water pulled together, following his motions before shooting itself forward.

Carol took a breath, and as the water moved towards her, she did her best to mimic the moves. Her arms moved quickly, deflecting the blast of water; it wasn't nearly as perfect as she did get a bit wet, but she did deflect most of it.

Silver Fang blinked, surprised, "Impressive, that was nearly perfect. I've never seen anyone come that close to mastering the move so quickly."

Carol chuckled and waved off his comments, "It's nothing,"

"Do you have some ability to mimic movements?"

" Not really, I'm just a quick study. I've been practice martial arts for a while, and after a lot of study, I've just learned to copy people's moves."

"Still very impressive."

Nearby the hero Metal Bat and the wizard Magna were sparring fiercely.

Metal Bat was more than a little scorched because of the fire wizard, his bat had started to turn red from heating, but he wasn't willing to give up.

Magna's glasses had been shattered, and he was bruised. Both wielded bat, the hero a metal bat, and Magna one made out flames. After a bit of work, the metal bat could force the flame bat to vanish, but Magna could recreate it. Both were not the most powerful member of their groups, but both were incredibly determined.

Though from the outside, it did look like two delinquents trying to beat each other up.

0000

Katara and Suki were sitting together outside; they found themselves in a nice quiet spot. They had been getting used to this world, but it still felt odd to be in buildings made of metal, glass, and weird stone.

Everything had gotten so strange and hectic that it is a blessing to find a moment of quiet peace outside.

"You know," Katara began, "as crazy as things have gotten, I can't help but think that Sokka would love it. Self-moving carts, men in flying metal suits, screens that show images from far away… he'd love to see it."

Suki smiled somberly, "Yeah, and maybe he will. I know this is crazy, but I think we might get back. Maybe it's just me being hopeful but-"

"No, I get it; hoping that we will get him and Toph and everyone back, it's keeping me going." Katara paused for a moment, unsure if she should speak her thoughts, "I don't know if I should even tell you this, but my brother really cares about you."

Suki chuckled, "No, trust me, I've noticed."

"No, I mean, he cares about you. I heard him talking to dad about you; dad then joked that when he was going to ask you to marry. Sokka just said someday; it made dad double take. I don't remember the last time I saw dad speechless because he knew Sokka meant it."

Suki looked at her, stunned; she welled up with tears. "That idiot,"

"Yeah, I miss him too." Katara chuckled, "But yeah, he's an idiot, even considering marriage already. I know you two have been dating for a while now, but you still have a lot to go through together before you even consider marrying. I mean, you haven't even done- anything serious."

"Well, about that…" Suki looked away shyly.

Katara blinked before the full meaning of those words hit her. "Wait…. when we were at that island… I saw Sokka make a flower necklace … and you wore it….and men of the Southern Water Tribe only do that when…"

"Okay, gotta go." Suki bolted from there.

"What did you do with my brother?!"

Suki started to run; she loved Katara like a sister, but in that tone, she sounded more like a mother about scold her, and she wasn't dealing with that right now.

0000

Mickey Smith looked at a picture of his family.

"I'm sorry," Jack's voice spoke softly behind him.

"Thanks," Mickey said softly,

"I never did get a chance to met August."

Mickey looked at the picture of his and Martha's son smiling between them. He wasn't even ten years old yet, and he was gone with so many others.

"Listen, don't tell the Doctor. You know how he- she," he corrected himself, "gets, they'll blame themselves for everything. They couldn't have stopped it."

"All right," Jack agreed, "if you want to talk about it, I'm here."

"Thanks," Mickey sighed, the days knowing his son was gone hitting him hard.

Jack knew the feeling; he was immortal and lived centuries; he knew the feeling of losing your son.

At least Mickey still had a chance to get him back.

"Oh! You are a lifesaver!" Wade held up his repaired katanas.

"No problem," Bismuth smiled at the merc, "once I got a place to work, it was easy."

Bismuth found the chance to work on something simple like swords relaxing. She was grateful that CPU and Darkhelm were able to make her a working shop.

"What are you doing with that?" Wade pointed at a familiar-looking red and white shield.

"Roger's shield? He let me borrow it; I wanted to check out the craftsmanship."

"And what did you find out?"

Bismuth reached for the shield; her hand began to fizzle and glitch out. She pulled back before she managed to project her hand correctly.

"That, every time one of us gems touches it, it disrupts our bodies."

Wade looked at it, "Huh, I'm no expert in vibranium, but it stops sound, and you know other vibrations. Maybe it's doing that to you guys."

Bismuth looked at her hand; it was composed of light; she knew sounds could affect them too. After all, it was a mix of light and sounds that corrupted the gems in the first place.

Natasha hid in the nearby woods. She agreed to this exercise and was surprised how challenging it was turning out.

She double-checked her gun and ammunition; those robots had copied her weapons entirely down to the weight. The only exception was that it shot paintballs.

Natasha continued trying to keep low, then she heard it whiz pass and dropped to the ground. She pulled out her pocket telescope and did her best to find her opponent.

KK loaded her rifle again, she was a fair distance away, but she had barely spotted Natasha. She should have waited longer, but the second she saw her, she shot. If she waited for just a second more, she could have gotten a better shot.

KK would have to move quickly; if anything, Natasha let her see to force her to reveal her location.

She caught a glint of light; she was trying to find her. KK pondered it for a moment; she could try another shot while she had it. If she missed, she was sure Natasha would know where she was, and she wouldn't be able to leave fast enough for her not to find her.

She was supposed to treat this like this was real. If she were in a real fight, even against a master fight, she wouldn't stop until she got her target. She leveled her rifled and fired again.

The paintball found it's the target but only found a discarded eyepiece.

The game was still on.

Missy worked on a device much simpler than she had worked on the last few days.

It was a device to allow others to communicate with people in other universes. Alexis and her had promised it for Aang and his friends so that they could speak with the Fire Lord. They needed to make it communicate without Scout.

To keep things simple, she made this device act as a walkie-talkie; they'd send one of them to the world to have and use. Though the longer she looked at it, Missy had the urge to make some modifications.

"Hello?"

Missy looked up from work to see Jenny of all people looking for her.

"You looking for your father?" Missy asked.

"I was looking for you."

"Me?" Missy was surprised, "Why are you after little old me? Despite what your father has said, I have done nothing wrong … recently."

"You've known my father for a long time?

"Oh! Since they were a child, I've known the doctor before they headed out to close the rift at the Medusa Cascade. And they were just a tyke back then, barely 90 years old if even that."

"Can you tell me more about them?"

Missy chuckled to herself; Jenny was just a child wanting to know more about their parent but unsure how to ask them. It made sense while traveling on her own; Jenny must have heard stories about her father's exploits; no wonder she'd be curious.

Missy motioned her over, "Come now, come sit down, my Auntie Missy, and let her tell you all the stories your dear old dad wouldn't want you to know."

Missy struggled not to laugh; she had a ton of embarrassing stories to share.

Kim sat with Hayley; they were on the second floor, seeing the machine that brought them there. Stitch was helping Tony, and some of the others double-check that the device was working correctly.

Oddly enough, Rocket seemed to be the most perturb by Stitch's appearance.

Kim asked Hayley, "How are you holding up?"

"Ah, well, I've been better. It wasn't easy being there when Jake vanished. The rest of the family is mostly intact and is holding up pretty well, all things considering. The magic community is pulling together, they aren't showing themselves to the non-magic folks, but they are helping where they can."

"Yeah, Stitch said his cousins are all doing what they can in Hawaii, and even the United Galatic Federation has managed to keep things in order. Well, for the most part, species like the Lorwardians are causing trouble. But overall, a lot of people are trying to work together."

"Yeah, about that," Hayley noted, "are you okay working with Shego? I know she was like your worse enemy years ago."

"Yeah, can't say we're friends. The UN did pardon her and Drakken for the help with the alien invasion. They settled down… a little. They had a daughter, and… well, she lost as much as the rest of us. I trust that she is going to do everything to see this through even if she's not the most sociable person right now."

Kim couldn't blame Shego for not wanting to be around a bunch of strangers right now.

"I have to hope we can get everyone back." Kim touched her Kimmunicator, and a picture popped up of her and Ron with their babies.

Kim knew Shego's pain of losing the one she loved and your child; it hurt more than anything she had ever experience. It was a pain that stuck worse and dug more profound than she'd ever wish on another person, and she knew countless were going through it.

Kim wasn't ready to let them go because if, for a second, she let herself forget or even try to move on, it felt like be giving up a part of herself.

Alya found a quiet spot and, with a notepad, started to work. She liked the others and was still shaken by the fact that their whole universe had been lost to them. Just the idea that she might never see her home or her family shook her.

There was hope; the people there were looking to resolve it and what caused it.

There were the stones; it could bring everyone back then; it could also repair whatever happened to their universe.

It did help that heroes surrounded them.

And a couple of villains, Alya was too savy not to notice a couple of them seemed more than morally questionable. She wasn't even sure what she'd call the pair in the trench coats; they were questionable.

The TDS they gave her to help communicate easier also contained a connection to their computer, which held all the data they collected, including information on everyone.

Scout, on Alexis' orders, had collected data on everyone that came here.

Alya looked on stunned; some of the documents looked like classified documents. Scout had even done up reports on people, including abilities.

Alexis had asked Alya and the others to help fill in some blanks.

It looked like the others weren't aware of it; Alexis assumed they saw the access on their devices. He argued that this information could be very useful in planning an attack on Thanos and his forces, to help but the best people where they could be most helpful.

It was hard not to see his point; with so many people joining, it would be hard to learn these things in person. And it was also somewhat silly not to expect a guy who goes by Curator of Secrets not to collect information.

Alya opened his file; Scarlett's file had a picture that seemed to be a mug shot in which she was giddy after a fight. Alexis file had a picture of him singing karaoke with what she was sure was the Krampus. The files were detailed and didn't seem like they were hiding anything on purpose, but she was unsure if the files said everything about them.

Steve Rogers was currently looking over everything himself, still unsure how he felt about all this information being exposed without people's consent but useful either way.

Alya looked at all the files; she was a fan of heroes, and looking at their records and triumphs gave her hope that maybe they could win this time.

Trixx sat next to her, looking at all the projected files around her. Alya wasn't sure what she could do with the information; usually, she'd to reports and post them on her website. Not that that could happen now, and if they did win and fix everything, no one would even believe her about heroes from another universe.

"Alya?" Nino found her working on her notes, "What are you doing?"

"Just doing what I always do,"

Nino sat beside her, "Looking at the weird files on everyone?"

"Yeah, it looks like Scout pulled from my website too." She motioned to the file of Carapace; it had a picture she took and posted on her site.

Alya sighed, "I went ahead and fixed some detail about us." She mused, "do you think we can make this work?"

Nino's smiled faltered for a second, "I don't know, but with so many heroes maybe. I think we got a shot. We did manage to do a lot on our own, and now we got a lot of crazy help."

Alya moved closer to him, "Yeah, maybe we do have a chance."

"Leo?" Klaus found Leo holding his head as he sat on the couch. "are you all right?"

"Yeah, just a little tired, I guess."

"Is it your eyes?"

"Probably, I've seen a lot of weird stuff since we got here. Like, everyone has an aura I can see. You, Zap, KK, that hot dog vendor I like. Everyone has one, and looking around; I see something else. Like there is a weird shimmer—aura… it's hard to explain. Everyone seems to glow differently depending on the universe. Not to mention weird energies I see from people. It's a lot to take in all at once."

"If you want, we can head back before-"

"No, I think it's important that we are here. I'll get used to it."

Leo opened up his eyes, and they glowed bright blue. Those were the All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods that let him see more than an average human could. Impressive eyesight may not seem to be the most useful power, but some would kill for those eyes.

He could see all Sort of energies; the Kwami had a very odd one, for example. Thor seemed to have an aura like lightning, which Leo had to admit probably made sense.

Scarlett had one like bright flames, and Leo didn't know how to describe Alexis' just that it was twisted and wild. Kanzaki had a bright and powerful aura; it was very soothing for him to see. Illyana's aura was almost the opposite. It was like embers and scorched. Shego seemed to glow more than anyone knew.

Then the spiky-haired walked past them; Leo saw something misshaped and large sat beside him on his right hand.

Leo flinched because he was certain that thing turned and looked at him right back. Leo winched as he was sure he heard the sound of glass shattering and his eyes feeling like they'd crack.

"Leo? Are you all right?"

Leo winced, "Yeah, I'm fine." His eyes cracked a few times before they'd heal. Leo still couldn't help wonder what could casually make the eyes of the gods blink.

"Hey, Klaus… what do you know about dragons?"

Tony had to admit those little pet robots were impressive builders. They expanded the kitchen and built onto the table, though Tony would have to talk about making more table than just making the table extra long.

He also might have to look into those sheep; he wondered if it was sanitary to have upright sheep cooking for everyone. The girl Charmy summoned up a dozen of these sheep that start cooking with the skill that would make Gordon Ramsey applaud. Tony did think about the food they'd need to feed everyone but not how he'd get it prepared, so these sheep were very helpful.

The way they make plates of food and carried them to the table, they had a certain grace and efficiency that reminded Tony of the butler that practically raised him when he was young.

Alexis had plopped Kirby down next to him and Scarlett, and they seemed to think just sliding whole plates of food into that creature's mouth was a good idea. Kirby seemed to be happy enough.

Gwen and Charmcaster were deep in talk about magical theories and ideas; they had started to talk magic with the others. They were planning on asking others about magic seeing how magic differed in different universes.

Missy was to the Doctor's dismay telling Jenny and the others stories from their days at the academy.

The Ball Bulls were a little rowdy but mostly sticking to themselves as they ate. However, Tony made a note that he might have stocked up on more drinks.

The teens that had just dropped in seemed to be shaken; Stark couldn't blame them. Their Kwami seemed to be eating various foods; the cat thing was gorging itself on cheese. Tony hadn't seen mice that into cheese. Alya was asking around the table, trying to get stories from the others. At the moment, Alya was having a long talk with Kim.

Shego was keeping to herself; it wasn't helping that Klaus talked to anyone who was up for talking about their worlds.

Cognita was trying to start an eating contest with Amethyst. Itsuwa kept handing towels to Touma, who kept getting messy because of Sogiita. Kakine had transformed into his human form, he didn't seem to need to eat, but he enjoyed the company. Mugino eyed the food served by farm animals despite what the other saying it was tasty.

Shautuara was talking shop with Red and Rojo; they were throwing out ideas to improve the tank and her suit.

Carol had introduced Enid to Bang, and they were talking about the training session.

It was slow, but people were mingling.

0000

"So, how was your day, dear?" Pepper Potts ate some Chinese food.

Tony sat in front of the computer they were using to talk through. "Well, no one killed anyone."

"Was that a possibility?"

"Maybe, I was worried when the kid was collecting data on everyone, but some people weren't exactly upfront about their past. Venomous was a hero turned villain, which I should have picked up on. The heroes that came with him don't seem to trust him. His ex is awkward around him… which I guess I can't blame since she and their kid didn't find out he was alive until a while ago. Even the robots that were made by his partner seem a little uneasy around him."

"Okay, that is troublesome."

"Shego used to be mercenary; the only reason she's not in lock-up is that she helped save the world during an alien invasion."

"Worried about her too?"

"Not as much, she's more reasonable than Wade, but at least he seems more eager to work with people."

"Please tell me that's the worst of it."

"Nope, I got two people I'm not sure that are stable and might be hiding stuff from us."

"Well, everyone has their secrets."

"Okay, let's get to my big worry. Missy or the Master or any of a dozen different names. Some kind of master of disguise."

Tony glanced at all the pictures they had in her file; none of them looked the same.

"A Master of Disguise is your biggest worry?"

"Nope, but an inter-planetary one is. Scout pulled up files from a military organization called UNIT that dealt with her over the decades. She's lead several alien invasions, was a solo threat to the Earth several times, became prime minister of England and then took over the world for either a year or a couple of minutes, and almost destroyed the universe twice."

"That's quite a resume."

"The Doctor has been noted to be the one to stop her. The Doctor vouches for her skill and that she can be helpful. I get the feeling that she doesn't trust her. It makes me worry about having her here."

Pepper paused, taking a piece of orange chicken, "Are you going to kick her out?"

"I can't; she's been a great help. She and Alexis made half the stuff we depend on."

"Well, everyone lost people. She's got as much to lose if you guys can't get everyone back."

"That's true; I'm just having second thought about depending on people who might turn on us. But they also increase our shot in making this work."

"I can't blame you on that. Okay, changing topics, how are you?"

"Tired," Tony sighed and leaned back, "missing you."

"I miss you too."

"Do you think I'm just crazy? This seems like the craziest thing I've ever done."

"It's a crazy time, look; it's getting late. You'd better get some sleep."

"I love you."

"I love you too, no sleep tight."

Their call ended, and as the call was cut, Tony rubbed his eyes. Most people were asleep by now; they left one guy guarding the HUB now that it back up and running just if anyone came calling.

Hopefully, tomorrow would be a peaceful day. They'd spent a few days just with each other settling things; maybe that was a sign that things were turning for the better.

High Above Earth, a metallic skull like space ship emerged and looked down on the blue pearl. It made sure that no one on Earth could detect it yet. As the alien ship moved into orbit around the planet, it began to beam people onto the planet's surface.

Author's Notes: So, considering the year we've had, I wanted to do something without high stake risk. I wanted to show how everyone is preparing, adjusting, coping, and maybe even growing. Cause we have all these character from other worlds we gotta see how they interact with each other.

I actually was almost done with it but stuff happened yesterday that killed my mood. Moral is real low, and things aren't good, I'm tying to stay positive but when you need to have hope its always the hardest to find it.

This was supposed to be a relaxing chapter, like to see everyone doing their things and just I feel so low energy right now.

Okay, let me try to be positive I got some good review last chapter and thank you. It did make my new years a bit brighter. Please send more review telling me what you guys think. What did you guys like? What resonated with you guy? What worked? What character did you like seeing? I can't possibly put everyone here all the time but I tried to let people have moments.

We are almost up to 400 review so let's see how long it takes us to reach it. I'm also happy to hear so many people are finding this story from TV Tropes, I've seen that page need s bit of work I think, if anyone is good at that stuff please lend a hand. I'm going to try to help when I can just not great at Tv Tropes stuff.

Q&A:

Kingmanaena: Well thanks. You'll be glad to see more deadpool soon.

darthwolf: Time keeps ticking away until it doesn't. Okay, so I get people asking me for FGO, SCP, PR, those are three of the most common things I get asked for. And yes they all have stuff to make jumps across universes, but the issue is that I gotta do set up. FGO at this point is now under review by the Clocktower and the UN. Bureaucracy will always slow things down, plus the sword you mentioned is a mystic code and those are made to be used by solely one person. Oh! And that person was the only person who had the second magic! Its going to be a while before even a genius like Da Vinci figured out how to make that work without the vampire. Plus, do you think Chaldea is going to send anyone especially the master into somewhere so far and different, without knowing more about them. SCP isn't very trusting. The PR are busy helping people on their worlds. And to bring it down to a single point, do you just want them to show up? No build up, no story, without a purpose other than to be there? I can do that but then there is nothing to do for them. They have come in naturally. Not to be overshadowed or outshine anyone else, it's a balancing act. I am working on a story for them in this setting but it needs time. And if your wondering why they haven't been found, it an infinite multiverse how many worlds at a time do you think they can search through per day? Da Vinci and crew are being slowed down by the constant questions from CT and UN seeing why they didn't see it coming.

Guest: We might be seeing them. I do have plans. Its just a lot of more heroes worlds are going to focus a lot of helping the people of those worlds who have been thrown into chaos and disaster after the dusting. Yeah, let's face it the DBZ crew isn't coming. They are good at fighting but aren't good at much else. Bulma is the only one who can do science stuff and lets face it she'd be hard to work with. They would be helpful to have when fighting Thanos but they'd be of no use finding him. As for SG-1, there whole deal has been them fighting much stronger forces. If Thanos has become a god, then who better to bring in then a team who kill gods.

themaninthemirror2000: Thanks, I hope the DC arc lives up to expectations. I do warn it won't start like you expect. I'm still wondering if DC fans will figure out whats going on.
