Todoroki
I hurried as fast as I could on my way to the bedroom of the quietest in the class. When I got there, I was met by a very agitated Koda with a turtle in his hands and a floating rabbit a few steps to his right, until I realized that he was in the company of Hagakure.
– Todoroki, we still haven't found the tarantula – she communicated
– I don't see my snake either – is it possible to have such animals here? And then I felt something twist around my leg
– I think I know where it is – pointing to my leg. – He approached me while taking the turtle in my hands. He took the other reptile and placed it in its cage.
– I found the tarantula! – The girl announced and Koda went towards her.
– We must go to the area with…– My voice was drowned out by the sound of thunder and the subsequent roar of the only creature capable of losing control in this darkness.
I shot out of the room, only to be tripped right over my left arm on my way to the second floor. I still had mobility in my shoulder, but I was sure my wrist was hurt. The mere gesture of creating a tiny flame caused a sharp pain that ran through my entire body. What an inconvenient situation to twist my wrist and then I remembered that, if Tokoyami had lost control of Dark Shadow, Katsuki could be ... I recovered as fast as I could, only to find myself plunged into deep darkness, while the rain outside lashed out furiously at the windows, I could see Midoriya's silhouette was barely recognizable by the fleeting bolts of lightning that illuminated the hallway.
My head was spinning and I was having trouble thinking clearly. I was agitated, and the pain in my hand only made my condition worse, plus the idea that the villains were involved in this incident led me to think the worst. I was beginning to feel anxious, as the idea of Katsuki being hurt or worse, in the hands of the villains again, stunned me even more.
– Todoroki! – Midoriya's voice was heard with difficulty, but it was strong enough to bring me to the ground again, added to the chaos that Dark Shadow made in his wake. I had to act fast, otherwise the damage would be greater.
Approaching the figure with which the greenette guy was fighting as best he could, caused spasms in my body. I knew I had to create a light source as quickly as possible, but as my hand cramps from the swelling, I thought of an alternative, looking desperately around. However, Katsuki was the only thing that was in my head. As long as I did not know his status, I wouldn't think clearly.
– Tokoyami, let's help you! – Shoji, yelled from across the hall. Then, the voice of the one referring to the end made its way through the roars of his quirk
– I know, you are my friends! – and then I understood that, in the same situation, Katsuki would prioritize the emergency in front of his eyes, because ordering one person in danger over another would be something he would never do.
The pain in my hand was beginning to rebound in other parts of my body, which I felt boiling with fever and my head was pounding, but I would not get away from them until I helped them. I had to create fire at all costs, however, in a confined space like this, if I wasn't careful enough, I could create a fire.
– Shoji, I need you to throw something flammable at me! – I yelled from the other end, but I had to get a little closer. I used a column of ice as support to launch myself as high as possible towards a small gap between the ceiling and the wall.
The darkness didn't help either, added to the fact that, with each roar, Dark Shadow seemed to gain more strength, causing the noise to alter him even more. As Midoriya fought him the best he could, he was visibly exhausted.
At one point, one of the jet claws, broke one of the windows, causing a cascade of crystals to fall and that, in whose siege, gave him the opportunity to supply a strong blow to the belly to Midoriya. If he didn't create a quick light source, there would be more injured. However, with the tenacity that characterizes him, he rushed into the shadow without hesitation; I could hear him groans of pain. I know he would push himself to the limit to keep whoever needed him safe, and I couldn't do less than that.
Despite the pain, somehow, I managed to make my way through the opening that the greenette guy created for both of us, managing to approach Shoji, and in a moment, without warning, the shadow took us by the ankles, charging us to opposite ends of the corridor with all its fury, making the whole weight of my body fall on my already injured left arm, finishing dislocating my shoulder.
I gasped in pain as I tried to get to my feet, only to find that I was no longer holding the piece of cloth to use as a torch.
The noise of the storm; the chilly and damp breeze blowing through the window; the screams of the beast that we were trying to contain along with the successive thunderclaps outside sounded like drums in my head; my left arm barely functional and the anxiety in my chest only increased as I realized that our only alternative lay in a pool of water a few feet from me.
I couldn't let another unforeseen event and my anxiety take over. I got up using all the strength at my disposal and activated my left side. A line of fire headed towards Tokoyami who quickly regained control of his quirk.
I fell to the ground, feeling my body burn with fever. I felt chills run through my entire body as my flames died down, but a source of reddish light was visible just before the end of the hall. Midoriya quickly took it upon himself to extinguish the fire with Shoji's dripping coat, as I realized that the flame that kept Dark Shadow out of the way was Midoriya's favorite coat, a special edition with All Might's costume design.
– Are you fine? – Taking me by the shoulder – Todoroki, your hand!
–Yeah... – my exhaustion being evident – Go to the common area – getting up with difficulty, feeling as if my body was breaking with each movement
– You're not! – trying to stop me
– I should look for Katsuki – I said feeling my voice shaken, ignoring if the pair of boys at the other end had heard me name the blond with his first name. I was sore and agitated, but I wouldn't be calm until I knew how he was, and I think that's what my friend saw in my eyes, because he didn't dare to contradict me.
– I will accompany you – placing my right arm on his neck – Guys come forward to the common area! – He communicated before heading to the second floor.
– Do you think the league ...?
– I hope not – he answered, guessing the rest of my question. – But I willon't allow them to hurt us again – he assured, while I felt the drops of sweat from the fever run through my body.
The corridor was submerged in deep darkness, however, it was possible to hear and feel at our feet the sound of glass breaking as we passed, so that the next image, visible for a few seconds, was Katsuki's body covered with cuts, leaning against the wall, motionless. I felt my heart beat hard in my chest, and the pain in my left arm became non–existent as I got as fast as possible to him.
– Kacchan! – He was on the other side, shaking him, while a guttural sound came from his throat
– Katsuki! – upon hearing my voice, he slowly opened his eyes
– Where…? – When looking at me, he let out a sigh, then frowning when he realized that Midoriya was on his left side – Get away, damn Nerd! – He yelled, confirming that he was only unconscious
– We must go to ...
– Shut up, damn Deku! – trying to get up, only to fall shortly after, while letting out a groan of pain. Looking more closely at his posture, amid the brief flashes of light outside, I could see that one of his feet was in an unnatural position.
– Let me help you! – It was rare to see Midoriya angry, but in this situation, it was more than understandable.
– Midoriya's right – bringing my hand to my forehead, to feel how my body shuddered from the cold of the window.
– You're not better than me either – his hand felt cold on my neck
– Deku, go get help. I'll stay with him – feeling him cover me with his coat. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't help us both.
–I will come right away – disappearing shortly after.
– When that idiot realizes his injuries, he will be the one who'll need help – leaning on his chest. His breathing was agitated, and although he had a high tolerance for pain, it was undeniable that his foot was causing this arrhythmia. I'm not sure if his hands were shaking from the cold, the lightning outside, or both, but I didn't hesitate to intertwine mine with his.
– I shouldn't have separated from you – my body temperature was unstable
– It's not your fault – bringing his hand to my head. – But whatever happened is not, I doubt it to be a mere coincidence. – And he was right. U.A. built the bedrooms to keep us safe, and a simple thunderstorm couldn't do that much damage.
– Your foot ... – looking how a crimson stain darkened his pants
– Are you shaking with fever and only worry about me? – getting closer to me
– The plan turned out better than I expected – his words were understandable, but his voice was distorted. I pulled away from Katsuki to get a better view of the speaker. – Who would have thought that a video camera would cause such a fuss? – Mineta, on one side of the corridor, had not noticed our presence.
– What are you talking about, mutant grape? – And so it was, his grimace when he saw us, confirmed that it wasn't his intention. His eyes glowed iridescent green as he approached us with a crooked smile.
– How romantic you look snuggled! – a few steps from us, we could see that he was holding the device he was referring to. However, whoever was in front of us, wasn't our classmate.
– What do you mean by "the plan", damn grape?! – The blonde next to me was upset and it was not for less, because as soon as he approached us, we could feel that the aura that Mineta emanated didn't seem to be human.
– Since you want to know so much, I'll tell you. I was the one who planned this power failure and boy did, this storm help me justify it – his speech was interrupted by lightning behind his back, and I wished that what I was witnessing were hallucinations caused by fever.
– What are you talking about, Mineta? – trying not to lose consciousness
– In due course you will know, but I would instead try to keep this secret between us – leaning on Katsuki's injured foot – if you don't want the rest to know about you two. – I felt as if a dagger was stuck in my chest – Can you imagine how hero number one would react if he knew the preferences of his son? – leaning even more
– Stop! – I screamed, making him finally leave him alone – Why are you doing this?
– Because I'm tired of being underestimated – his eyes shone with even more intensity, but they vanished when he heard Midoriya's voice – If you know what's the best, you won't say anything – shortly after Uraraka, Iida and Oijiro appeared.
– Mineta? – the greenette guy looked strangely
– I wanted to make sure they were okay – reverting to his usual state, making my stomach churn.
Midoriya and Uraraka helped me descend to the common area, while Katsuki leaned on Iida and Oijiro. After arriving at the common area, it was Yaoyorozu who gave me first aid with the help of Tsuchan.
I would like to blame my deplorable state for the discomfort I felt, but that was just an excuse for not admitting that one of our classmates was the traitor.
A few minutes later the sedative started to take effect and I wished this was all a nightmare.
So much drama!
Fact # 66
I like to think of Mineta as "a means to an end".
