"There's no coming back from this," he whispered, cupping her cheeks with his hands. "We're not friends after this…will you be okay —"

Any more words that would have come out his mouth were stifled by her lips crashing into his.

It had all started when they were eleven.

"Will you be okay, Hermione?"

The late afternoon sun shone down from the baby blue sky and Hermione grinned. "I'll be fine, Mum," she assured her anxious mother. "I'll make lots of friends, I'll eat a lot of s'mores, and I'll have a good time."

"All right, sweetheart," her father said, gazing at her affectionately. "One last hug before you hit the road?"

Hermione embraced each of her parents before she slung her backpack over both of her shoulders, gave a hasty wave, and strode off.

Only to collide with someone. All the breath rushed out of her body, leaving her struggling for breath.

"Sorry!" she squeaked, righting herself and backing away. That would've been the end of it, except the boy shouted, "Hey! Watch where you're going!"

Hermione stopped in her tracks, eying the boy with sudden disgust. He had chocolate pudding smeared over his lips and his face was scarlet in the bright sun. "You watch where you're going," she retorted.

The boy stiffened and she sensed an argument rising to his lips. She steeled herself. Oh, this should be fun.

They separated the boys from the girls at Camp Hogwarts; their cabins were on opposite sides, facing each other, and if one drew open the curtains, they could see exactly what was going on in the cabin across.

Hermione shared her cabin with two other girls, both of whom were extremely giggly and extremely gossipy. They seemed like the type who had slumber parties and braided each other's hair, speculating on who fancied who. Hermione generally steered clear of those girls, but it seemed as though she was stuck in the same cabin as them.

Thankfully, the two other girls took one look at her and turned their backs. There were two bunk beds in the cabin, so the two girls took one and Hermione got the second to herself. She tossed and turned, trying to block out the sounds of their whispering but something one of the girls said caught her attention.

"Did you see the boy with chocolate pudding on his face?" the blonde girl asked, her voice high-pitched and disdainful. "How could anyone show up looking like that?"

"I know, right?" the other dark-haired girl said snidely. "Didn't his mum ever teach him any manners? Though the way he was acting around the campfire…"

As the girls dissected the boy's every action, Hermione wrapped her pillow around her ears and resisted the urge to tell them to hush. It was almost midnight for heaven's sake…

Six years later, a lot had changed.

His calloused hand slipped into hers as they walked. Suddenly, Seamus pulled her to the left. "Look! I need to show you something. Come with me."

Caught off guard, Hermione allowed herself to be dragged by her boyfriend to a…tree?

"There's nothing here," she said, bewildered. "What…?"

Seamus smirked, tugging her closer. "There is nothing here," he said huskily and Hermione felt a shiver travel down her spine. "I just felt like showing you something…"

He kissed her and it was like all of the breath was sucked from her lungs and the adrenaline took over. After a few moments they broke apart, panting.

"How is it that you manage to do this every time?" she asked breathlessly.

Seamus smiled; it was like warm sunshine. "Oh darling," he said, "Don't you remember the day we met? I'll always leave you breathless."
