The Best Part.

One Year Later:

Trevor came downstairs with Matthew in his arms and smirked when he saw Noah leaning up against Eva's legs, a mischievous smile on his little face, "why does he look like he's up to something?"

Eva looked up and chuckled "he's trying to bribe his way into some treats."

"That shouldn't come as a surprise to you" Thomas quipped, while reaching down for the two year old, "come on, let's go steal some of that cake your mother baked."

Matthew laid his head on his father's shoulder and let out a groan, he was still tired and extremely grumpy. Trevor rubbed his back gently "what's wrong kiddo?"

He grumbled something out in gibberish and let out a whimper "mama"

Eva looked up at him and chuckled "spoken like a true mommy's boy."

Maddison came padding into the living room with a massive smile on her face "daddy look"

Trevor looked down at his daughter and smiled with fatherly pride when she twirled infront of him, showing off her floral dress and pink pumps to match.

He leaned down so he was eye level with her and pressed a kiss to her forehead "You look beautiful. Just like a real princess." he straightened the head band her mother had put on her to keep her curly locks out of her face.

"Me like momma?" she asked with a smile.

He nodded while smiling at her "you're the splitting image of your mother. You and momma are daddy's favourite girls in the world."

"Sweet talking will get you everywhere" Olivia sassed as she walked into the living room, catching wind of her husbands interaction with their daughter.

All sets of eyes snapped onto her instantly and a soft gasp left Trevor's lips. Olivia wore a fitted blue dress that stopped just inches above her knees, she had on a pair of black sandals because chasing three toddlers around at a fair in high heels was not ideal. Her hair hung around her face and down her back in luscious brunette curls, her make-up was minimal and her skin was glowing.

Eva smirked "well damn now I feel under dressed. You look beautiful Liv."

Olivia rolled her eyes playfully at Eva "honey you're a vision in that dress"

Thomas nodded his agreement as he walked back into the living room with a cake covered Noah "she's right you know... You look beautiful honey, as do you Olivia." he smirked before looking down at Madison "but Maddy definitely won this one"

Olivia smiled at her little girl "I'd lose to her any day."

Trevor stood to his feet and walked over to Olivia "you look beautiful sweetheart, I really am the luckiest man in Oregon."

He cupped her cheeks and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips, breaking it a little too soon for her liking "I hate to cut this short but I've got to bath our son while you three ladies relax and while Thomas changes this little guy."

Another massive smile spread on her lips "don't make us wait too long, we have to leave in the next hour." She pressed a kiss to Matthew's cheek before watching as they headed upstairs.

"You're glowing" Eva said with a raised eyebrow, "is there another little Langan on the way that we don't know about?"

Olivia shook her head, a sad look clouding her face. She hadn't told the girls or anybody about her hysterectomy because it was too painful to speak about. She hated that she would never be pregnant again, that she'd never feel another baby growing inside of her, never feel the hiccups or kicks of another baby. Trevor had agreed to not speak about it to anybody else, he knew she was still struggling to accept it.

"I'm definitely not pregnant" she said with a sigh.

Eva frowned "You don't look too happy about that."

She shrugged before reaching for Madison, "Eva I can't have any more kids. Trev and I never told anyone because it was painful to face the truth."

"What truth?" she asked, trying to understand what her friend was saying.

Olivia cradled Madison close, smiling when the toddler cuddled further into her embrace, "I hemorrhaged after having Matthew and they were forced to perform a complete hysterectomy to stop the bleeding. I can't fall pregnant again, and it hurts to know it but I've made my peace with it, I'm just happy to have my three babies with me."

"Liv I'm so sorry" she said, feeling guilty for probing.

Olivia waved her off "it's okay, it's not your fault and you had no way of knowing."

Trevor and Thomas came back downstairs with both toddlers bathed and dressed. They had already finished breakfast and had Matthew's baby bag packed so all they needed to do now was load their cars and drive the short distance into the town where the fair would be held.

Matthew lifted his head off his father's shoulder and groaned again, he was tired and moody.

Olivia let out a chuckle at her moody baby, "what's wrong Matthew?"

He turned to her and stretched his arms out to her "mama"

Trevor shook his head, before taking hold of Madison and allowing his wife to take their youngest. He kissed Madison's cheek "your brother is a mommy's boy."

Madison giggled, "momma boy" she repeated.

Noah looked up at his dad and sighed, "daddy... I wanna go"

"Okay son, we're leaving" he laughed.

They made their way to their cars after locking up, Olivia strapped Matthew into his car seat before doing the same with Noah and Madison.

She handed Madison her juice bottle and kissed her forehead "no tantrums okay?"

"Yes mommy" she agreed before pushing the plastic straw of the bottle into her mouth.

She handed Noah a juice bottle as well, which he gladly accepted, instantly popping it into his mouth.

Matthew pushed the bottle away and stretched his arms to his mother "mama"

She shook her head gently "baby, I can't carry you while we driving."

He pouted, his eyes instantly becoming watery, a sign that a tantrum was well on it's way.

Olivia got into the passenger seat after securing the kids and sighed when Matthew started crying "this is the one thing I didn't miss about having a child under a year old."

Trevor chuckled as he started up the car, driving behind Thomas and Eva.

He sighed "it's because he only woke up a half hour ago. He's still sleepy."

"I know, he's probably going to sleep when get to the fair" she watched them through the rear view mirror, "that's if he allows me to put him in the stroller."

They arrived in town faster than expected and parked outside the feild fair entry way, getting a spot in the shade. They quickly got all three kids out of the car, sighing in relief when Matthew stopped crying.

Olivia held him while Trevor attempted to put the twins in their double stroller.

Noah shook his head "no daddy I walk"

He sighed "Noah you're going to get tired."

"I walk pwease" he insisted, wanting nothing to do with the stroller.

Madison scowled at the stroller before walking over to Thomas "up?"

He instantly scooped her up and laughed at Trevor who was trying his best to convince Noah about the stroller, "they're not getting in that thing until they're exhausted. Let's go in for now and come get it when they get sleepy."

"That's a good plan, because if you force them in those strollers they are going to cry and be grumpy all day."

Eva took hold of the baby bag and handed Matthew his pacifier "here you go kiddo."

"uh uh" he said, pushing it away from his face.

Olivia chuckled "come on moody, let's go see what this fair is all about."

They walked through the entrance and smiled when the children squealed at the sight of all the stores, food stands and all the games.

They stopped at a few food stands and bought various things to try out. Noah was on Trevor's arm and squealed in excitement when his father fed him some of the foods.

Madison was content in Thomas' arms, snacking on the corn dog he handed her.

Olivia fed Matthew a piece of her chocolate donut and laughed when he cheered up a bit "so all you wanted this whole time was a snack?"

Madison gasped when she saw a flower store with bright colored flowers, she pointed at it and turned to her father "we go?"

"Sure darling, let's check out the flowers." he said before leading the group toward the tiny flower store.

The woman at the store smiled at the group before reaching for a flower and tucking it behind Madison's ear, "you're the most adorable little girl I've ever seen."

She gave the woman a toothy grin "thank you"

Trevor handed Noah a flower and whispered in his ear before placing him on the ground. He stood back with a smile as Noah hid the flower behind his back, he huddled over to Olivia and motioned for her to come down to his level.

Olivia bent down in front of the two year old and smiled when placed the flower behind her ear, he gave her a toothy grin "momma pretty."

Trevor extended his hand to Olivia and smiled as she took it and stood to her feet, he quickly straightened out the flower that their son placed behind her ear. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips "I love you."

"I love you too" she whispered, giving him another kiss.

Noah tugged on Trevor's pants and stretched his arms out "daddy, up"

He reached down and picked the little boy up, smiling down at him "you wanna go play some games kiddo?"

He nodded. Matthew's head popped up from Olivia's shoulder, a small smile making its way onto his lips "play" he squeaked out.

Olivia let out a soft laugh as Trevor paid for the bouquet of flowers he picked out for her, "you have been grumpy this entire time but will cheer up at the mention of playing games instantly. You're too young to be like your uncle."

Thomas scoffed playfully before tickling Madison, "your mom is just jealous because you and Noah are like your dad and Matty boy is like me."

"Betrayed by my own children" she sighed playfully, "and I carried all three you for nine months just for you to choose them over me."

Trevor smirked "you didn't carry either of them for a full nine months though. The twins were a month early and this little guy was two weeks early."

"They were impatient even in the womb. Just like these clowns" Eva pipped up motioning to Trevor and Thomas.

Thomas scoffed, "she wasn't complaining as much when she walked down that isle a month ago."

Olivia chuckled, "honey marriage makes everything more clear. I knew I loved Trevor until we got married and then I realised that I am insanely in love with him. It took marriage for me to realise just how crazy I truly am about him."

Trevor turned to her and cupped her cheek gently, "I'm insanely in love with you too beautiful. You're my everything and so much more."

...

"Bye bye momma" Noah pipped up while snacking on some fries.

Madison ran out of the kitchen in her vest and underwear, she let out a squeal when Casey came running behind her, "Maddy you have to put your pants on."

Trevor scooped her up before she run any further and chuckled, "where do you think you're going missy?"

A smile formed on her lips, she let out a giggle "daddy I go play"

"You have to put on a pants first, then you can play." Olivia said, getting up from the sofa.

Matthew had his arms wrapped around his mother's neck and wouldn't let go, a pout covering his little features.

Madison nodded, "otay momma."

Trevor placed her down and watched as she walked over to Casey who helped her into her pants, the toddler offered her a quick 'thank you' before huddling over to where Noah was seated with their toys.

Trevor raised an eyebrow at Casey, "you sure you'll be able to handle all three of them?"

She nodded, "Noah and Maddy aren't an issue, it's Matthew that worries me."

Thomas came down the stairs and reached for Matthew, "come on Kiddo, your mom and dad have a reservation to get to."

"mama" Matthew uttered, his lower lip sticking out and his eyes filling with tears.

Olivia felt her heart breaking when he let out a little whimper, "oh baby don't cry, I'll be back really soon."

Trevor reached for the tot knowing that Olivia was on the verge of cancelling their plans because she hated seeing the children cry. He took hold of him and wiped the tear that rolled down his chubby cheek, "hey buddy there's no need for tears. I'll bring momma right back home before you even notice she's gone."

"mama tay home" he quipped, his cheeks turning a rosy colour.

He shook his head at the eleven month old, "no, daddy is going out with momma for a short while. I'll bring her right back though and then if you're awake you can come sleep with momma and me."

Matthew frowned, "mama go?"

Olivia let out a sigh, "he's not going to understand that we're coming back. Your son has abandonment issues."

"Isn't he a bit too young for that?" Thomas asked with a laugh.

Eva walked into the livingroom and chuckled, "apparently not. He's basically sobbing because they have to leave."

"You wanna go to aunty Eva?" he tried, hoping that Matthew would agree.

He shook his head, his brunette curls falling haphazardly around his face, "no"

Olivia pursed her lips, "honey Eva has ice-cream in the kitchen, do you want some?"

"no!" he pouted, stretching his arms to his mother.

"What about some chocolate?" Trevor smirked, "do you want chocolate."

"choco" he smiled instantly at the mention of his favourite treat.

Eva reached for him and let out a breath of relief when he moved into her arms, he looked up at her and pointed in the direction of the kitchen "choco"

Olivia let out a laugh, "see you later my baby."

Matthew waved her office, a smile on his lips when Eva carried him into the kitchen.

Trevor chuckled before kissing Maddy and Noah, "see you later kiddos. Be good."

"Bye daddy" both twins quipped before turning to their mother and giving her a hug.

Olivia closed her eyes and felt herself getting emotional, this was the first time they left their kids for more than a few minutes. She pressed a kiss to their heads and cupped both of their cheeks, "be good okay. Don't eat too much candy and I'll be back to tuck you two in okay. Mommy loves you."

Noah and Maddy nodded, "love you too mommy."

Trevor took hold of Olivia's hand and smiled, "come on woman, we're going to miss our reservation."

...

Trevor couldn't take his eyes off Olivia as she sat opposite him, a massive smile played on her lips as she spoke about her time at work. She had just ranked up to Luitenant of her own precinct and he was blown away by the amount of effort and dedication she put into running the precinct. They had the highest closing rate for the year and was the only police precinct in Oregon that was run by a female.

The law firm took off the ground in a massive way too, they had a brilliant track record with winning cases. They were currently in the process of training a few new lawyers for their first cases in homicide, svu and in child custody cases. It was surprising to the people in the town when they saw how successful the firm was doing.

The best part of it was getting to know more people, they employed a ton of people at both the precinct and the firm. They also trained a number of people for the rape crisis centre, making it a suitable place for survivors to come and get help in dealing with the trauma they faced.

Everything seemed to fall into place for them over the last year, they grew closer after having Matthew and finding out that Trevor was in fact his father. The kids were happy and growing well and a lot changed in their family. Eva and Thomas got married and decided to settle in Oregon, Alex returned to Oregon and started working at the firm so that she no longer had to take cases in New York. Mary took over Thomas's real estate company in New York while he started setting his life up in Oregon.

Trevor reached for her hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it, "thank for agreeing to this, tonight has been amazing."

She leaned over the table ever so slightly and pressed a deep kiss to his lips, not caring who saw. She broke away when air was necessary and gave him a massive smile "I should be thanking you for this, if you didn't make this reservation or even suggest this we would have been cuddled up with the kids all night. Not that I'm complaining, I love the kids and spending time with them is always fun but I missed you."

"I missed you too babe, I missed being to tell you whatever I want without having to worry about Noah or Madison repeating it. Or just being able to kiss you for as long as I want without Matthew pushing my face away." he laughed.

A smile made its way onto her lips as he paid the bill and led her out of the restaurant, their dinner was amazing and they were both relaxed and happy.

Trevor stopped her at the passenger door of their car and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her body close to his. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling him down to meet her lips.

Both of them giggled into their kiss when the rain started pouring down, soaking them completely but they didn't care.

Olivia cupped his cheek and smirked against his lips "I'm so in love with you Trevor Langan. You're the best husband a girl could ask for, you gave me three amazing children who I love so deeply and you gave me a life I never thought I could have. Thank you babe."

He looked into her eyes and smiled down at her, "honey everything we have together was because both of us put in the work. These last three years of marriage have been tough, we've been through a ton of shitty situations but we loved each other through them."

"I'll always love you Langan" she whispered, her lips just inches away from his.

He cupped her cheek, "I'll always love you too Olivia Langan. You mean more to me than anybody ever has before, you and our kids make me the happiest man alive. And you know what the best part is?"

"What?" she whispered.

"That I'll have you by my side for the rest of my life." he whispered back before closing the space between.

Their lips met in another soul burning kiss while the rain continued to pour down around them, neither of them cared about it. They were just happy and so in love, nothing else around them mattered.

Olivia broke their kiss and gave him a beaming smile, "let's go home to our kids, we need to get them to bed so that I can make love to you all night long."

"Now that's an offer I can't refuse." he smiled, giving her one more kiss before opening the door for her and allowing her to slip into the car. He looked over at her before starting the car "you drive me crazy woman."

"The feeling is mutual, my love." she quipped, settling back in her seat and smirking at him, "I'm crazy about you."
