The Snow Wraith found herself inexplicably back on the Dark Island, where the rain had ceased but not the clouds. She looked back at the mountain-now a half-mile away-with a furrowed, confused brow. How did she end up here? The last thing she recalled was leaving Antithesis Cavern.
Well, whatever happened, it didn't matter. She had more important things to think about.
Or she did. A refreshing breeze of cold air wafted over her-and continued to grow stronger. A large figure in the sky flying towards her caught her attention. It was gray, with short arms and icicle-like wings.
K...Kur...Kyurem! That's right, Kyurem existed. And now here he was, landing on the island about a mile away. Now what was a Dark legendary doing here, of all places? Had he come to hunt her?
A wicked smile eased across her face. If he had come to fight her, it would be her pleasure to oblige after the letdown Giratina had given her. Blood would be spilled today, and she did not care one bit where it gushed from.
Kyurem had landed in the middle of a village set in the hilly woods of the middle part of the island. The villagers, instead of razing the land flat, had instead opted to build within the hills. Bright flags and colorful lawn ornaments decorated the close-knit town, though many were now squashed underneath Kyurem's icy mass.
Formora stood next to one of the few trees in the village, watching idly by. He was not alone; atop his head was a Minun, smiling broadly at the nervous Pokemon below.
"Ah, Lucida Town. It has been far too long since we last saw each other. I bet you all thought we forgot, hm?" Kyurem said pleasantly, basking in the sun as he gazed down below.
"During the Battle for the Dark Mountain-" the Minun continued, standing atop Kyurem's head. She did not shiver or stammer from his cold aura. Was she from the north, perhaps? "-many Pokemon invaded our beloved home. We defended ourselves to the bitter end, and where were you, Lucida Town? Where were you?"
"We coexisted peacefully on this island for many years, and how did you repay us? None of you. Lifted. A single finger. To help us," Kyurem's light tone turned venomous. "And now Kay and I have come to repay your generosity. To deny Lord Giratina's vision is punishable by death, and so that is what must be done. I'd say I'm sorry, but you brought it all on yourselves. For the Dark!"
Formora hurled her dagger, where it landed hilt-deep in the grass between Kyurem's toes.
"Excuse me?!" Kyurem snapped. His anger turned to shock as Formora stepped out into the open. "...Formora?"
"Been a while, hasn't it, Kyurem? I'm surprised and saddened that Giratina has you so brainwashed," she replied, crossing her arms.
"Excuse me?" he repeated like the dunce he was.
"You heard me. How many years has it been, and how many times has he come out to say 'Good job, everyone!' By the looks of it, I'm guessing not once. It's not his fault though; Giratina is quite the coward."
"How can you say that?! About the Pokemon who gave you everything?!" the Minun-Kay?-exclaimed, jumping down from Kyurem's head.
Formora gave a scathing laugh. "'Everything'. He turned me into a monster possessed by a demon. Turned me into his little errand girl. Turned me into a thing that feeds on suffering and agony. And what did he do when he realized his mistake? Hide. Hide away in his little dungeon."
She thrust a finger towards the mountain. "Did you know, I just got back from visiting him! You know what he said to me? Nothing! Not a single word was spoken to his Dark Champion. All he did was try his best to get me kicked out of his dungeon. And when I made it through, he didn't even have the courage to face his creation. He knows. He knows he royally fucked up. And he's hiding from that fact."
"Insolent wretch!" Kyurem snapped, flapping his wings and sending a blast of cold through the air. "I don't know why or how, but you-you! are a traitor to the Dark. And we both know the punishment for traitors."
Formora spread her arms and let her Aurora Veil waft through the town. "Come and try. Come disappoint me like you do to Giratina."
"Kay, destroy her. I don't need to lower myself to dispatch a rotten traitor," Kyurem snorted, turning away.
Kay, mouth agape, began charging up a Thunder. Formora stood still. The Minun would die soon enough anyway; why not let her see her folly first?
But Kay turned, and unleashed her Thunder on Kyurem instead. He flinched from the blast, then whipped around.
"Explain yourself right now!"
"Finally..." Kay whispered, electricity still crackling across her cheeks. "It's time, Mawile..."
"What?"
Kay slowly leaned over, picked up Formora's knife, then tossed it back to the Froslass.
Oh? Now this was interesting.
"Traitor all along?" Formora guessed.
"From the start," Kay nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Sent by Cresselia herself."
"You, an agent of Cresselia? Preposterous! I've seen the things you've done, Kay. You've slaughtered plenty of Pokemon. You're no Light Minun."
"That's right, I'm not. I'm not Dark either; I'm me. And I'm here to avenge Mawile and Meloetta. You killed them both! My best friends, my saviors! Killed them like they were nothing! At first I was just here to repay my life debt to Mawile, but after Meloetta..."
Kay shook her head, wiped her tears, and turned to Formora. "I'm yours, Formora."
Kyurem howled with rage at the same time Kay shouted, "THIS IS FOR MAWILE AND MELOETTA!"
Boss Battle! ( watch?v=oKywbnmWAtc)
Weather Condition: Cloudy
Kay began dancing an odd little jig. A sky blue orb of energy appeared in front of her, and with a shout from the Minun the ball shot straight up into the air. After a moment, the clouds darkened to a smoky gray.
Weather Condition: Rain
Quick as a flash Kay leaped towards Formora, where a brilliant blue-and-green sphere of Dragon Pulse soon vaporized her previous spot.
"TAKE THIS!" the Minun roared, jumping into the air to send a vicious Thunder across the village.
The blast hit Kyurem straight on the forehead. He stumbled from the shockwave, while everything in the town that wasn't tied down went flying. Shrieks and squeals came from the cowardly villagers, who darted to safer places like Rattatas in a pantry.
Formora frowned, watching Kyurem right himself. He kept his weight more on his left side, and his right knee didn't bend as much or as eagerly as the other.
"Getting too old for battle, Kyurem?" she asked coolly while hurling a Shadow Ball at his arthritic knee.
Kay bounded to Formora's side, her blue cheeks crackling with electricity. "Kill me if you want, but let me have him first."
Kyurem roared as the Ball slammed against his knee, but he wasted no time in spreading his wings. With a hard flap, his Glaciate spread across the land, its icy gale ripping just about everything to tatters.
Kay glanced about for shelter, but Formora merely held out a hand and summoned her own Blizzard instead. The two storms crashed against one another for a few moments before both gave out, turning the no man's land into a slushy landscape.
"Hm, you're weaker than I remember. I wasn't even putting much power behind that Blizzard," Formora said idly, scowling internally at fighting yet another worthless Pokemon. Seriously, was it that much to ask for a decently-powered legendary?! Although, to give him an iota of credit, his Pressure was forcing her to use twice as much energy.
To Kay, she muttered, "See that giant redwood behind him? Strike the base with your Thunder, then I'll use Shadow Ball. We can pin him down with it."
Kay looked over Kyurem's shoulder, then nodded. "Get me closer, then."
Formora seized her, then hurled the startled Minun straight for Kyurem.
"Not what I had in mind-!" Kay shouted, but nevertheless shot a pulsing Electro Ball at her former master.
"BAH!" Kyurem growled as the Ball crashed against a wing. He stepped backwards until he was touching the target tree, then gave the still-soaring Kay a Scary Face.
Kay, who was about to launch another Ball, faltered, and flew straight into Kyurem's waiting Dragon Pulse. Like a ping-pong ball, she bounced back towards Formora and landed in an abandoned foot stall.
Useless Minun, Formora scowled, abandoning the dazed Kay to evade Kyurem's Flash Cannon. She hurled a fastBall at his knee, and while he flinched she brandished her knife and dove forward.
Let's see how much I can cut away!
A wave of Pressure hit her out of nowhere. As she faltered, Kyurem recovered and shot his Cannon at the Wraith. He opened his mouth, summoning a white orb pulsing with blue energy. With a roar the ball exploded into a blue-and-white beam that engulfed Formora in its metallic wrath. Power slammed her entire body, harder than diamond and stronger than steel. It felt like Registeel was body slamming her!
"Grah!" Formora shouted, losing her balance. The Cannon carried her into Kay's food stall, where a clump of tomatoes cushioned her fall.
A sharp twinge of pain made her look down. The X on her chest had almost scabbed completely over, but now thanks to Kyurem it had been torn open again. Blood and tomato juice dripped down her chest. The edges of her vision turned pinkish-red, and her dagger was raised before she was.
No one makes a fool out of us and survives, she and the demon snarled together as she stood, tomatoes peeling off her back.
Ignoring the crushed tomatoes falling from the back of her head, she got up to see Kyurem take flight.
"Who's the weak one now, Formora?" he laughed, spreading his Glaciate everywhere.
Once again she protected herself and the now-stirring Kay with Blizzard as the storm harmlessly passed over them.
"I'm back!" Kay announced, leaping into the air to deliver an earth-shaking Thunder.
Weather Condition: Cloudy
Without the rain to guide her lightning, her Thunder veered suddenly to the right, striking the redwood instead.
Kyurem laughed mockingly before shooting a Dragon Pulse at her. Snarling, Kay only shook her head before throwing her Electro Ball at the Pulse. The two attacks collided, exploding for a brief moment as a shockwave whirled through the area.
As the plants nearby rustled from the blast, Kay bounced back towards Formora. "Bring him back down to that tree!"
"I'll keep him busy; you strike him down."
At least the rain had washed most of the vegetables off her before it ceased. After refreshing her Veil, Formora shot off Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball. Her Blizzard wouldn't do much against him, and he was too far away to chill with her Frost Breath. Laughing, Kyurem obliterated every single one with Glaciate. He failed to notice, however, Kay sneaking up underneath him.
"Gah!" he hissed as he was Thundered.
Naturally Formora attacked. One megaBall later, and the stunned legendary was drifting back to the town.
Kay took this moment to summon her rainstorm.
Weather Condition: Rain
The moment the first few raindrops began to fall, she Thundered him. Thanks to the rain, her strength behind the attack skyrocketed, and it finally brought him back down to the ground.
"Grahhhh!" the icy dragon roared as he collided with a great boom. He slid a few yards-ripping up the grass and topsoil as he crashed-before coming to a stop at the base of the gargantuan redwood. The massive tree swayed warningly, but remained firm.
"NOW!" Formora roared.
Sprinting, they bolted for the redwood behind him. They struck the tree with their Shadow Ball and Thunder over and over. While Thunder merely tore chunks off the trunk, Formora's Shadow Balls were enough to make it topple. The tree gave an eerie creeeeakkkk, swaying back and forth a few times before finally giving out.
Together, Formora and Kay rained blow after blow upon the trapped Kyurem. Formora switched to her ice attacks in order to conserve energy, as even she was starting to sweat from the Pressure. Kay was panting like a Boltund, yet she kept up the pace.
"I'M ENDING THIS!" Kyurem roared, breaking free from the redwood with Glaciate. He sent them both flying with a great sweep of his wing, catching Kay mid-air.
"I'll choke the life out of that little body," he growled, holding Kay up to his face.
"W-wait! Kyurem!" Kay stammered, Fake Tears streaming down her terrified face. "It was all an act! I was trying to make Formora lower her guard!"
Kyurem paused, but did not ease his grip. Formora bit back a frustrated snort. He could not be falling for this!
"It's me, Kyurem! You know I'm Dark through and through," Kay continued her pleading.
The moment Kyurem relaxed his grip on her, Kay's sorrowful face turned to pure hatred. She unleashed her Thunder upon the pathetic legendary, squirming out of his hand as he stumbled backwards.
"KAY!" Kyurem roared, shaking his head. "YOU LITTLE BITCH!"
As the two women dashed forward, Formora threw a Shadow Ball at Kyurem's knee on one hand as she tossed Kay her knife in the other. Kay caught it just as Kyurem faltered underneath Formora's Ball.
Kay leaped into the air, snagging Kyurem's neck with the knife. The Wraith charged a megaBall as a stream of blood gushed from Kyurem's wound.
BAM!
Finally, finally, Kyurem's knee blew out. Howling at the pain, he crumbled to the ground.
"GRAHHHHHH!" Kay roared at the top of her lungs as she finished the job.
With a scream that rapidly turned to gurgles, Kyurem helplessly clawed at his neck. A river of blood sprayed across the area, literally painting the town red. After what seemed like ages, Kyurem parted with the earth. His body spasmed, then twitched, then...nothing.
Kay fell to her knees, mouth agape and staring at Kyurem's body in awe.
"I...I did it," she whispered before bursting into a fit of tears and shakes. "Mawile-!"
While Kay bawled, Formora turned her attention to the villagers, who were beginning to poke their heads out from their hiding places.
"Well? Did you enjoy the show?" she asked, her voice deadly calm as her Veil dissipated from the wrecked village.
She hurled a Blizzard at them all, sending them shrieking back into hiding. "Hope you liked watching us destroy this place! Thanks for the help! Never seen such bravery before!"
Honestly she should kill them, kill them like Kyurem would have done if not for her.
"Go ahead and end my life, if you wish. I've nothing to live for now," Kay whispered, tugging on Formora's hand, bringing her back to more important matters.
Formora only snorted.
