Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural

Sam let out a small curse as he pulled at a knot in his hair. He had been dealing with his bed hair for what felt like hours, but in reality, had been only three minutes, and it didn't look like he was going to get it tamed any time soon.

Honestly, if he didn't like his hair so much, he would just cut it. You would think he learned how to deal with it growing up, but it seems not.

He sighed and exited the bathroom. Time to bring out the big guns.

"Selena." He called, seeing her sitting on the bed with his laptop in her lap.

He felt safer that it was with her instead of Dean. At least she didn't leave frozen porn websites on it.

She glanced up at him.

"Hm?"

"Can you…" He trailed off, holding up the brush and gesturing vaguely up to his hair.

Her head tilted an inch and she nodded, setting the laptop to the side then scooted to the edge of the bed.

Sam went over to her, handing her the brush as he sat down between her legs. He let his body relax when she started detangling his hair gently, beginning at his ends.

After a moment of silence, Sam was startled by something warm being placed into his lap. Opening his eyes-when had he closed them?-he found his laptop with a tab open on a news article.

"Little Girl's Body Found Gutted In Park! Child Killer Strikes Again!"

Davenport, IA- A 7-year-old Madison Brown's body was found mutilated by morning joggers near Low Peak Park. Madison was just one of two girls kidnapped this past week. The other whose body was also recovered mutilated near the child's home. The parents of the two children-

Sam read the rest of the article, a heavy feeling in his stomach. It always hits worse when there are children involved on a hunt. The guilt of when you can't always get there in time to save them. The cries and looks from the families when you have to tell them the news. It sticks with you.

He leaned his head back, looking up at Selena.

"You think it might be something supernatural?" He asked softly.

Selena always had a secret soft spot for children. It had caused her to disobey John on more than one occasion whenever they were involved.

Selena gave a sharp nod, expression revealing nothing, but he could feel her conviction. "I wouldn't show it to you if I didn't." She replied.

She lifted Sam's head back upright, resuming her task.

"What do you think it is? A Rawhead?"

" The M.O. is off for a Rawhead."

"Yeah…" Sam brows furrowed as he looked back at this laptop screen. His mind went over all the monsters that targeted children.

At the sound of the door opening, Sam looked over to see Dean walk in, carefully balancing a cup holder with two coffees in one hand and a McDonald's bag in the other.

Dean paused in the doorway, taking in the situation then gave Sam a look.

"Can you get any girlier?" Despite his look, his tone was teasing.

Sam rolled his eyes then smirked as Selena's smooth tones spoke next to his ear.

"I believe Dean is jealous of our hair, Sam." She said in a faux whisper.

Sam stifled a laugh. "I think so too. He's jealous he can't have a mullet."

"Mullets will make a comeback, sooner or later." Dean responded, walking over to the table and setting down the drinks and food. His eyes caught sight of Sam's laptop. "Researching?" He walked over, sitting on the bed.

"Selena may have found us a case." Sam handed him the laptop.

Selena's fingers ran through Sam's hair smoothly and he relaxed further against the bed while Dean read the article.

"Looks about right." Dean said, looking up from the screen. "What do you think?"

"We might as well check it out just to be sure."

Dean gave the laptop back to Sam and got up, walking back to the table.

"All right. We'll go after you two get down with your slumber party activities and I get some food in my stomach."

Selena let out a hum. "Eat fast. I'm done."

Sam didn't move for a minute, then he got up and headed to the bathroom. Examining his hair in the mirror, he smiled. It looked good.

"Thanks." He said.

"Hn."

Hair dealt with, Sam exited the bathroom and went to eat.

Hunting on an empty stomach wasn't something he enjoyed.

"I'll do it." Ramiel said, lazily lifting an eyebrow when Azazel only stared at him in faint surprise.

"Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why agree so easily?" Azazel questioned, eyeing him with a small bit of suspicion.

Ramiel repressed the urge to roll his eyes.

"She is quiet and doesn't annoy me unlike you." Ramiel ignored the slight smirk Azazel gained.

"You have grown attached to her. How cute, brother."

Ramiel would stab him if he wasn't worried about getting blood on his floor. The clean up would be bothersome.

"No need to glare at me, Ramiel. That's what I wanted in the first place. My family members getting along together."

"Then I'm assuming you're bringing Dagon and Asmodeus in on the fact that you adopted a hunter soon?"

Azazel's smirk was cold enough to freeze a lake, eyes going half-lidded. "Not a chance."

Ramiel nodded. He could understand that. Both of their younger siblings already thought of humans as inferior. They might just try something with Selena if left alone.

"If I'm going to be training her, there are some rules that I want to get out of the way."

The former king of Hell's smirk fell at Ramiel's serious tone. He unconsciously straightened in his seat.

The two demons stared at one another, both of their eyes turning yellow in response to the significant situation.

"If she is going to be training under me, then you must not interfere in any way." Ramiel began. "From this point on, she will be like one of my soldiers and not your daughter or a hunter. I won't go easy on her just because she's a human."

Azazel didn't let anything show in his expression, but beneath the human meat suit, Ramiel could see bleach-white bones creak as his brother shifted while he weighed the pros and cons of his rules.

Blazing yellow orbs in dark sockets didn't move away from his form before eventually, Azazel gave him a single sharp nod.

"Good." Ramiel's eyes returned to normal and he let loose some of the tension in his body. "If she is near life and death then you may interfere. Otherwise, stay on the sidelines."

It would be interesting to see how well she held up during the training. For all the praise Azazel's been singing, he better not be disappointed.

There was something telling to Selena when she slowly woke up with a pounding headache-

Oh. That wasn't a headache. That was a heartbeat. More than she could count at the moment.

She sat up to see they were pulling up in front of a motel building, squinting as the sun seemed to shine like a supernova today. The droning of the noisy city and the whirl of the Impala's engine, which melded slowly in with the beating of Dean's heart, wasn't doing much favor for her senses either.

"Morning, sunshine." Dean said, looking at her over his shoulder. He turned off the engine.

Selena grunted, holding in a wince as Dean's voice added to the cacophony of noises.

Dean paused, staring at her curiously for a minute. He and Sam exchanged bemused looks, then the two got out of the car.

It took a minute for Selena to reluctantly exit out the car and the moment she did, the world around her blurred. She gritted her teeth in suppressed pain-too much noise. Scents everywhere. Can't make it out. Makeitstopmakeitstopmake- and steadily strode towards the now open trunk where Dean was. She refused to show a sign of weakness with so many eyes around. Not even to her brothers.

Standing beside Dean, she silently grabbed her duffel bag and turned to head towards the check-in building only to pause when Dean spoke.

"What's wrong?" He asked. "Not awake yet?"

"Yeah." Selena responded softly.

God, it felt like even her voice was splitting her head open no matter how low she talked.

"Do you need-"

"What I need is quiet." She growled out, then stalked off, making an effort not to stumble or run into anything.

It wasn't Dean's fault nor was it Sam's that she just happened to get a sensory overload today of all days. It wasn't fair that she snapped at him when he was just concerned.

Selena would apologize later, but right now all she needed was a dark and quiet place to wait until everything passed.

Selena scowled. That meant she would have to sit this case out. She didn't doubt her brother's abilities, but she had been the one to suggest they take this case, and while it wouldn't be weird if she stayed behind, provided she told her brother's why. She didn't want to, but she would have to if it got worse. Going on a hunt when she wasn't up for it could cost them mistakes.

Thundering footsteps practically right on top of her had her head snapping to the side, fangs bared and an urge to get rid of whatever was making the noise, only for the urge to recede slightly when she realized it was only Sam approaching her.

"Got the room." He said. "It's room number 10."

She nodded, glad for her high collar hiding her expression of discomfort. Her stride was long as she tried not to hurry for their room.

Whenever a sensory overload hit, she'd be easier to irritate and would just about snap at anyone. Killing something that would make noise just to shut it up was not a one-time occurrence. The thought of her killing her brothers to get a bit of respite…

That bothered her, to be honest. Would she go that far? No. Does she think if pushed far enough, she would lose control and attack them? A possibility.

Selena mentally sighed. This was proving to be very taxing and she was only in the first minutes.

Dean blinked, leaning back slightly as a piece of paper was shoved into his face.

I can't go on the case with you and Sam.

His brows furrowed in confusion and he moved the paper away so he was looking at Selena.

"And why the hell not?" He questioned a bit roughly.

He was still a bit stung when she had snapped at him earlier. All he had asked was a question. There was no need to bite his head off.

Selena moved to write then hesitated. He couldn't see her expression but he could see that her body was tense, as if she was in pain or something.

Concern started to rise, battling with his hurt. Concern eventually won out.

"Why not, Selena?" He repeated softer this time.

He could see out the corner of his eye that Sam had paused in his research to watch the two of them.

Another paper was shown to him. He frowned when he read it.

Headache. A bad one. Everything is too loud. It...pains me. I know I suggested this, but I can't.

So that was the problem.

"Oh." Dean said, then lowered his voice. "Is it…" He glanced at Sam and felt that small bit of relief when she shook her head, writing another note.

No. This has nothing to do with me getting visions. I only have ice and telekinesis.

Dean knew he shouldn't fear his siblings. He knew they wouldn't hurt him. He briefly flashed back to what John told him before he died. If he ever needed to kill Sam or Selena...He mentally shook his head. He'd be long dead before that happened.

"Do you need Advil, earplugs, anything?"

Selena paused, then nodded and held up two fingers. Dean nodded. Okay, so Advil and earplugs.

Where would he find earplugs?

"Go lay down or something while I go to the store." He turned and pulled on his jacket, grabbing the car keys as he headed towards the door. "I'll be back soon."

Dean exited the room, the door closing behind him with a click. As he walked headed towards the Impala, the feeling of being watched made him pause. He looked around slowly, scanning the parking lot only to see nothing out of the ordinary.

Suspicion peaked, he got in the car and soon drove off.

An Indian woman stepped out from behind the corner of the motel building, staring in the direction the black Impala drove off in. Eyes bleeding black, they slid to the room where the two younger Winchesters were in.

It had worked. Abraxas would be pleased. Even more than he already was hunting his new...toys.

The female demon, Adya repressed a shudder at the thought. For her, Abraxas was second only to Alastair for people she wouldn't want to spend a long time with alone. Weird, both of them.

Adya turned, walking off to report back to Abraxas.

Frankly, she was only here so she didn't have to stay in Hell while Lilith was in a good mood. Which she knew wouldn't last for long unless Selena and Sam Winchester's head was served on a silver platter. The longer she was made to wait, the more she would start to take it out on anyone around her.

Adya frowned and turned a corner, only to be shoved up against the wall. A demon she recognized as Wyatt had his arm pinned to her throat, glaring at her.

"What-" She let out a pained groan when he punched her in the stomach.

"Another assassin." He stated impassively. "Did you not see what she did to the others?"

Oh, Adya certainly did see what had happened to the others.

A hunter that was sadistic enough and powerful enough to brutally dismember or eviscerate the assassins then had the nerve to send back their body parts. Of course, it would cause a ripple in Hell.

She had heard a whisper or two of a few demons thinking of siding with Selena for the throne just for that display.

"Is it just you?"

She blinked, then nodded. His eyes narrowed and she was rewarded with another punch.

"Do not lie. Are you the only one here?"

Grimacing in pain, she shook her head. "Six others, in-including Abraxas."

A slow, smug grin slid on Adya's face when she saw the realization on his face and she laughed.

"There's nothing you can do to save her. You and she will die."

Behind the guise of human flesh, Wyatt's demon form snarled and he grabbed her hair. The last thing Adya saw was his snarling face before pain overtook her and she blacked out.

Abraxas was out of Hell.

Wyatt stared down at the unconscious female demon with an emotionless face as apprehension was bubbling inside him. Abraxas was out of Hell and after Selena.

The apprehension grew. Abraxas was no joke. He's heard rumors of his sadistic and merciless personality, toying with his victims until he either grew bored or they died. If Lilith sent him after Selena, then it meant she was getting desperate. Desperate enough to probably come after the female hunter herself if Abraxas didn't do his job. Azazel needed to know about this.

Wyatt picked up the woman, throwing her over his solid shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He had faith in Selena and her ability to take care of herself. How could he not when he witnessed it himself?

He remembered Azazel telling him not to interfere in her fights unless necessary, but Wyatt figured this counted as necessary. He was her guard. It was his job to prevent harm from befalling her.

The demon and his cargo disappeared from the parking lot, leaving no evidence that they were ever there behind.
